When Canadian specialty station MuchMusic launched in August 1984, founders John Martin and Moses Znaimer had about two hours of planned content to fill six hours of airtime. Their strategy? Pack the place with notable faces, create a party atmosphere in the control room “stage,” and let inaugural VJs Christopher Ward and J.D. Roberts figure out the rest as they went along.
Thus, the iconic “Nation’s Music Station” was born.
It was a scrappy, wild atmosphere in which inexperienced but music-loving kids stepped in front of the cameras with free reign to experiment and play the videos they loved. There were no rules and even less structure, but it worked. At the height of its popularity, MuchMusic was the global destination for artists of all genres. And it was led by a diverse and history-making group of hosts who connected those artists with fans in a new way—through the legendary studios at 299 Queen St.

If you are of a certain age and the Queen song "Bohemian Rhapsody" comes on, your mind immediately goes to the car scene from the 1992 film "Wayne's World." It was the story of Wayne Campbell (Mike Myers) and Garth Algar (Dana Carvey), who host a public cable access show called "Wayne's World" in Wayne's mom's basement. They talk about metal, "babes," and general partying. You probably don't remember much of the plot, but the plot was never really the point. It was all about the characters.
Wayne and Garth appeared on "Saturday Night Live" in skits and were wildly popular. The recurring segments of their fictional show often had guests like Madonna, Tom Hanks, and even the band Aerosmith. If you grew up in this time period, you knew these guys. They were the ones with long hair who seemed to be speaking a different language than you were. As...

With the third series of The Walking Dead Minimates arriving June 12th (some have already been spotted at Toys "R" Us), Diamond Select Toys and Art Asylum have put together a short film starring all of the Twd Minimates to date.
While the below short is pretty awesome, be warned that it's not for the faint of heart!
With photography and editing by Alex Kropinak (Marvel's What the...?!), a voiceover by Chris Ward (the band Acorns to Oaks) and music by Matt Takacs, the film draws on Rick's famous speech from the prison arc of the groundbreaking comic book, setting it to some of the most horrifying Minimates images you have ever seen.

DVD Playhouse—October 2011
By Allen Gardner
Terri (20th Century Fox) An awkward, obese teen (Jacob Wysocki) finds himself forming an odd friendship with his equally left-of-center vice-principal (John C. Reilly), who decides to help the boy navigate his way through adolescence’s rocky road. Low key film is filled with pathos and humor, but is ultimately too laid back for its own good (not to mention too long). Worth seeing for young Wysocki’s amazing, completely natural performance, and Reilly’s goofy charm. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Bonuses: Featurette; Deleted scenes. Widescreen. Dolby and DTS-hd 5.1 surround.
Mr. Nice (Mpi) Rhys Ifans stars in the true story of Howard Marks, a Welsh-born Oxford grad who gained the most notoriety in his life for being the UK’s biggest hashish smuggler during the ‘70s and ‘80s, when he wasn’t busy spying for Her Majesty’s government, hanging out with a...
