“It’s great to see everyone here. I wish we were meeting under better circumstances is the truth,” Matti Leshem began, introducing a panel on the state of Antisemitism during Variety’s Hollywood & Antisemitism Summit, presented by The Margaret & Daniel Loeb Foundation and Shine A Light.
Leshem, a producer and founder of New Mandate Films, began the conversation by checking in with each panel member and their emotional states following the attack by Hamas on Israel that has killed more than 1,400 civilians.
“I’m enraged. I’m furious. I’m furious at so many things. I’m furious about the loss of life,” Alana Newhouse, founder and editor-in-chief of Tablet, began. “I’m also furious at how surprised people seemed. If you were surprised at what happened, you are not following the right people. There have been people who have been talking about this slow-and-then-fast-moving train for the last 10 years.

Amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, Israeli actress Gal Gadot showed support for her native country.
The conflict reached a flash point on Saturday when Hamas launched a series of surprise attacks from the Gaza Strip with fighters crossing over the border.
Israel then retaliated against Hamas-controlled Gaza. This has led to massive casualties on both sides, with 700 Israelis killed and 1,000 wounded, while 493 Palestinians were killed and 2,751 wounded.
Taking to Instagram, Gadot expressed support for Israel.
Posting a screenshot of a BBC story about the conflict, Gadot wrote, “At least 250 Israeli[s] have been murdered and dozens of women children and elders held as hostages in Gaza, by Palestinian military group Hamas. Starting early morning more than 3,000 rockets were fired. Hamas is holding hostages, controlling bases and settlements in Israel. There have been more than 1,500 injured and heavy fighting is still ongoing.”

As SAG-AFTRA and the WGA continue to strike and fight for a new deal, the picket lines are remaining full. In fact, they’re so full that multiple series have seen cast and crew reunions while marching.
Some have been spontaneous, as old colleagues run into each other by chance at a given location. Others have been planned, making sure to get as many members out on the lines as possible. So, we rounded up some of the biggest ones, ranging from shows long since ended, to those still fresh in our hearts.
You can check out some of the biggest reunions in the photos below.

Watching "The West Wing" now feels like revisiting a moment in time. Aaron Sorkin's groundbreaking political drama follows President Josiah Bartlet (Martin Sheen) and his senior staff as they strive to make the world a better place during two terms in the nation's highest office. It's an idealistic — some would say naive — depiction of politics that feels like a fantasy in the divided America of today. Airing in the early days of peak TV, the network drama was unique in its verisimilitude, lack of studio interference, and inclusion of characters who looked, felt, and acted like real people.
You'd think that a show about the White House would revolve around its most famous occupant, but Potus is just one of its many compelling characters. In fact, originally, the president wasn't supposed to be on the show at all. Rather, Sorkin's intent was to follow the staffers, assistants, secretaries, and...

I feel a little awkward about what I’m about to do. It’s not something I’ve ever done before and, to be honest, it doesn’t come naturally. But what the heck, there’s a first time for everything, so here goes nothing.
I’m about to agree with the Academy.
Shocking, right? The run-up to this year’s Oscars was filled with more embarrassing missteps than a Rob Lowe-Snow White production number. The Academy infuriated rank-and-file members by pre-taping eight below-the-line awards to trim the ceremony (which still managed to run 20 minutes longer than last year). It snubbed Volodymyr Zelenskyy from an on-air appearance, despite Sean Penn’s threat to publicly smelt his Oscar if the Ukrainian president wasn’t allowed to speak (Zelenskyy ended up slumming it at the Grammys). Even the Academy’s brand-new 500 million movie museum — the one that co-host Wanda Sykes toured...

It’s no secret that Shonda Rhimes knows her way around a juicy scandal. The powerful producer’s allegiance to her ABC hit Scandal is evident in the supporting cast of her dishy docudrama opus Inventing Anna, the long-awaited followup to her breakout period romantic fantasy Bridgerton. Throughout Anna‘s nine lengthy episodes (many weighing in at over an hour), you’ll spot Shondaland repertory players including Katie Lowes, Kate Burton, Joshua Malina, Chris Lowell and most memorably Jeff Perry. The star attraction, of course, is the astonishing Julia Garner (a two-time Emmy winner as Ozark‘s formidable Ruth Langmore), trying on another wild and bizarre accent—a strangled concoction of Russian and German—as con artist extraordinaire Anna Delvey (born Sorokin), a glamorous and shockingly rude pretender who lied her way into Manhattan’s highest society, duping investors and defrauding hotels and other businesses with her faux cover story as a German heiress.

I’ll take snarky comments for $100. That’s the attitude displayed so far by Hollywood reactions to the news that Mike Richards has stepped down as the host of Jeopardy! after one show.
Richards, a controversial choice ever since he was announced as the host that would replace longtime face of the show Alex Trebek, decided today to step down and reopen the search for a new host. That’s after a devastating expose of past sexist and off-color comments made during a podcast some seven years ago left his position untenable. He will stay on as the show’s executive producer.
The online world gave him a hearty and unsentimental send-off today after the news broke, including a dig by former Jeopardy! champion James Holzhauer. But at least one celebrity (a former tryout for the show hosting duties) found a reason to smile.

Only Liam (Christian Isaiah) had any insight as to his dad’s mental health status when those heroin needles reappeared, but rather than call an ambulance, the family collectively decided to grab a cup of coffee and carry on with their day as they waited...

Kevin can't seem to catch a break.
On This Is Us Season 5 Episode 7, he rushed off the set when he learned Madison was in labor, just to lose his ID while helping rescue an injured man from a burning car.
Our TV Fanatics Carissa Pavlica, Christine Orlando, Sarah Little, and Jack Ori discuss whether Kevin did the right thing, whether we liked the twist of him turning out not to be the one involved in the accident, and all other things This Is Us.
Rate the twist of Kevin not being the person involved in the accident from 1 (I totally saw this lame twist coming) to 10 (I was flabbergasted.)
Carissa: I think lame and flabbergasted are similar terms, so I'm not sure how to rate on your scale.
However, I was relieved. That's a trope used too often, and allowing Kevin to make a tough decision for the right reasons was a much better option.

Joshua Malina (Scandal) and Beth Triffon (Ten Days in the Valley) have joined the casts of Showtime’s Shameless and ABC’s The Goldbergs, respectively, in recurring roles. Both initially signed for one-episode guest shots, which have already aired. Both were received well and ultimately turned into sizeable guest arcs.
Malina recurs as Arthur Trilling on the eleventh and final season of Shameless. Arthur is a longtime Chicago cop who stays safe on the job by refusing to leave his squad car. Then he is assigned Carl Gallagher as his junior partner and that changed everything.
Starring William H. Macy, the final season of Shameless finds the Gallagher family and the South Side at a crossroads, with changes caused by the Covid pandemic, gentrification and aging to reconcile.
Jeremy Allen, Ethan Cutkosky, Cameron Monaghan, Noel Fisher, Steve Howey, Shanola Hampton, Christian Isaiah and Kate Miner also star.

Spoiler Alert: The story includes details about the Feb. 9 episode of This Is Us.
After an unplanned scheduling hiatus due to Covid-related production delays during the recent surge of infections in Los Angeles, This Is Us tonight returned with the first of several new episodes which will complete the first half of Season 5. Almost a month after that ominous car crash teaser at the end of the last original aired, we got to find out what exactly happened to Kevin (Justin Hartley) on his way back to Los Angeles for the birth of his children after Madison unexpectedly went into labor at 34 weeks.
The car that had veered off the road in the promo wasn’t Kevin’s. He saw the wreck while driving to Seattle to catch a flight to LA and stopped to help as there was no phone service in the area to call 911. While pulling the...

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for Tuesday’s “This Is Us.”)
“This Is Us” ended this week’s long-awaited episode on a big cliffhanger, that luckily had nothing to do with Kevin Pearson (Justin Hartley) being in physical peril, as initially teased in promos. Instead, Kevin is stuck in a Vancouver airport without his ID and very little hope of making a flight to Los Angeles in time to see Madison (Caitlin Thompson) give birth to their twins, whom are arriving weeks early.
And the reason poor Kevin might miss the birth of his children is because he was trying to do the right thing, by stopping to help a man (played by Joshua Malina) whose car had run off the road, even though all he wanted to do after abandoning his part in a big-budget Robert De Niro flick was get home as quickly as possible. You know his face. You know his characters. But, do you know the actor himself? Joshua Malina is not a newcomer in Hollywood, but it seems that so very few people know much about the iconic actor. He’s probably best known for his role as Will Bailey on “The West Wing,” but he’s also really made his mark also playing the role of “David Rosen,” on Scandal. He’s been in some of the biggest shows on television, and he’s never going to be someone fans are sad to see on the screen. He’s more than good at what he does,

Shameless Season 11 Episode 2
“I want some nice things in my life for a change.”
A major hurdle that season ten of Shameless had to work through was not only the loss of Emmy Rossum’s Fiona, but also the idea that some other Gallagher should now take her place as the show’s central protagonist and stabilizing force in the family. Their decision to appoint Debbie to this position did not work in the show’s favor, but season eleven is already off to a strong start by how it’s relegated Debbie back to more of a supporting status. If anything, Shameless’ final season understands that it doesn’t need someone to fill Fiona’s place and that truly showcasing the cast as an ensemble is the strongest way to go out. Lip’s struggles get a little more attention than everything else, but...

Here is a wrap up of all the news you need to know from Thursday, May 7, 2020.
NBC's The Blacklist has a new series regular for Season 8.
The hit drama has promoted Laura Sohn, who recurs as FBI Agent Alina Park.
TV Line first reported the news.
Sohn arrived on The Blacklist Season 7 Episode 7, and took over the job left by the exit of Mozhan Marno's Samar.
Alina quickly became a fan-favorite, and we're sure she will continue to make a big impact on Season 8.
The series was forced to shut down due to the Coronavirus pandemic, with multiple episodes unproduced.
In order to bring the season to a close, the episode will feature a mix of live-action and animated scenes.
Yes, really.
It will certainly make for a different kind of finale.
Meanwhile, Apple TV+ drama Defending Jacob is set to introduce a key recurring player this week in J.K. Simmons.

In an industry often criticized for its obsession with youth in front of the camera, it has been nice to see accomplished veterans Catherine O’Hara, Judith Light and Katey Sagal attracting multiple offers at the onset of the 2020 broadcast pilot season. Sagal already made her choice, committing to play the lead in ABC’s high-profile drama pilot Rebel, from Krista Vernoff.
As broadcast networks and studios begin to go down their wish lists, reaching out to A-list actors for pilot leads, they also are facing anxiety over whether they will be able to land the big names they are after and how much it will cost.
Because of the proliferation of deep-pocketed streaming platforms that have driven salaries up to $1 million an episode for A-listers on new shows, it has been harder for broadcasters to attract top talent, especially on the drama side. Last season, they raised the salary bar,...

Exclusive: It’s a mini The West Wing reunion on the set of Perfect Harmony. Joshua Malina is reteaming with fellow West Wing alum Bradley Whitford for a guest role on Whitford’s NBC comedy series Perfect Harmony.
Malina will play Torsten VanBlaricum in an upcoming episode, a judge of the “Conley Fork’s Finest” pageant who sits next to Arthur and gradually reveals himself to be eccentric. A former winner of this very pageant, Torsten looks back fondly on his pageant years as the best of his life. He encourages the boys and girls currently competing to “cherish this special time” and takes his judging duties very seriously. Torsten’s interest in the pageant extends to a podcast he hosts in which he interviews other “finest boys” from the pageant’s history. Torsten would kill for the chance to compete again, which he almost gets.

We are less than two weeks away from the premiere of The Good Doctor Season 3 and ABC has dropped the first official trailer.
It looks set to pick up in the immediate aftermath of The Good Doctor Season 2 Episode 18 which found Shaun asking Carly to go on a date with him.
But that doesn't mean it's all going to be plain sailing. Carly wants her and Shaun to be the ones at the wheel of their relationship.
In one scene, she tells Claire to butt out and to stop interfering. It makes sense that Carly would want people to stay out, but Shaun prefers to turn to those he trusts for assistance.
That probably explains why he's asking for some help from Glassman.

“I know this dating thing can be scary,” Glassman tells Shaun in one scene. “But don’t give up on love.
