- 3/22/00: A judge in Virginia City, MT, ruled Patricia Shannon should inherit the 90 acres of land near the town of Twin Bridges. The decision was based on a 1997 letter written by Kuralt to Shannon two weeks before his death and established her rights to the land. His family is still considering an appeal.
- Since Kuralt's death in 1997, his estate has been in litigation after a second woman, Patricia Shannon came forth with the claim that she had been his lover for the past 30 years. She has sued Kuralt's wife & estate to get 90 acres where Kuralt had a fishing cabin and did go frequently "for seclusion". Patricia claims that she has lived there with Kuralt for all of that time.
