Viva Las Vegas! The 2000s-era NBC drama will soon — for the first time ever — be available for fans to stream. Las Vegas will join Peacock’s streaming library on Friday, December 29, according to TVLine. Airing more than 100 episodes between 2003 and 2008, Las Vegas followed an elite surveillance team keeping order at the (fictional) Montecito Resort & Casino, a premier Sin City destination. The late James Caan starred as Montecito security head Ed Deline, with Josh Duhamel playing his protégé, former U.S. Marine Danny McCoy. Together, Ed and Danny dealt with “card-counting cheaters, costly streaks of random luck, and rival casinos stealing their big-money players,” as NBC explained. But Ed and Danny’s relationship was also complicated by the former finding the latter in bed with his daughter, Delinda Deline (Molly Sims). Other Montecito regulars included the high-priced escort Mary Connell (Nikki Cox), the all-knowing valet Mike Cannon (James Lesure), pit boss...

After eight live-action Spider-Man movies, the most recent of which made unbelievable profits, the webhead is well and truly established as an icon of the superhero genre. We all know how things started, with Sam Raimi's 2002 "Spider-Man" giving us our first proper live-action Spidey film. But things could have looked very different if James Cameron's Spider-Man movie ever got made.
There's been a lot written about the director's ill-fated "Spider-Man," which would have been a much more adult, R-rated experience than Raimi's effort. The script was peppered with profanity and featured a love scene between Peter Parker and Mary Jane, who were supposed to be played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Nikki Cox respectively. Cameron was working on the project after the now-shuttered Carolco, which produced multiple blockbusters including Cameron's own "Terminator 2: Judgement Day," acquired the rights to Spider-Man in 1990. In an event to promote their upcoming film Blackhat, Universal collaborated with Google’s Chrome Security Engineering Manager, Parisa Tabriz, to bring all of San Francisco’s top hackers (all the big names working in computer security) together for an early screening of the film and a question and answer session with director Michael Mann (Heat, Public Enemies, The Last of the Mohicans). After the screening, the audience was surprised when not only Michael Mann showed up, but all three stars of the film as well, including Chris Hemsworth (Thor, The Avengers, Rush)! Thanks to a special invite, I was able to attend on behalf of Cinelinx and record the Q and A for our readers to enjoy!
Just so you’re aware, there are a couple minor spoilers here, but nothing that will make a big difference to seeing the movie.

"Whiplash" is turning into an Oscar dark horse contender. Certainly, J.K. Simmons leads the supporting actor pack. But like "Margin Call," original screenplay could be in there as well. Or could the movie turn into this year's "Beasts of the Southern Wild," which nabbed four nominations: for Picture, Director, Actress and Screenplay? It could turn into a word-of-mouth hit, with year-end critics' group support--it's at 87% on Metacritic. And the rest may follow. Anne Thompson: I just watched this for the second time, after Sundance. Have you been getting strong reactions? Miles Teller: We’ve received a couple of standing ovations, and it’s the first time I’ve ever experienced that for a movie. A standing ovation is usually seen as the highest level of praise you can give to a performer, so the first time was kind of weird and overwhelming. Audience member: You earned it! [Audience claps] Teller: Thank you.

Check out this week's best and most provocative options for streaming on the web. How many times have you seen "Fletch"? Add another hundred to it this month. Netflix "Arrow", season 2 Catch up on the second season before the third premieres tonight. We can never do enough to tell Katie Cassidy we're sorry about that "Melrose Place" revamp. "Jay Mohr: Funny for a Girl" One of the bright spots in the dreaded '94-'95 season of "SNL" was the appearance of Jay Mohr, whose salty, smirky humor is somehow more impish than Norm MacDonald's. Fun fact I often forget: He is married to Nikki Cox. "Raising Hope", season 4 Shhh, secret: We're running a list of the "50 Funniest Women of the Past 50 Years" feature next week. You better believe Cloris Leachman made the list. Go watch the series that garnered Phyllis Lindstrom her twenty-second Emmy nomination. (Leachman has the most...

When George R. R. Martin is not writing or aiming expletives at the fans who find it appropriate to speculate about his death, he’s probably on the road. After stopping off at San Diego Comic Con last month and with a mini-tour of the UK this month (southern fans can attend an evening with the writer and fellow fantasy scribe, Robin Hobb in London on the 19th of August), Martin is a busy man. Many will be dissatisfied to see he isn’t slaving over The Winds Of Winter, the sixth instalment in A Song Of Ice And Fire (for the reaction just look to Twitter: ‘Lock Yourself Away And Finish The Winds Of Winter, Your Grace’ and ‘I long for the day when...

The Tony Awards voters love Hollywood, and 2014 was no exception. "Breaking Bad" star and Broadway rookie Bryan Cranston and popular Tony host Neil Patrick Harris took home their first Tonys, for playing a flamboyant president (Lyndon Baines Johnson in Robert Schenkkan’s “All the Way,” which won Best Play) and crossdresser (in Best Music Revival "Hedwig and the Angry Inch") respectively. Audience member Samuel B. Jackson, for one, will never forget Harris's Tony performance of “Sugar Daddy.” While Harris sat this one out as host, "X-Men" star Hugh Jackman did the singing and dancing (and, strangely, hopping?) honors this year. Sporting a scruffy beard and a seemingly bottomless pit of energy, Jackman succeeded in propelling the award show forward, even when it seemed to get a little tired in the last hour. Audra McDonald broke a Tony record for most awards, winning her sixth as Billie Holliday in “Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill.

Meet the new gays of Awkward, ABC’s This Week devotes religion segment to gay bashers, Denis O’Hare to square off with Jessica Lange in Ahs:Freak Show
A gay man reflects on his own reaction to the Alan Carr PETA fairy advertisement. “This is how I could have justified my instinctive flinch. When gay people appear on TV, it is invariably as one-dimensional, caricatured camp clowns, a kind of gay minstrel show. But Carr has never claimed to be emblematic of gay men. Of course we should see a wider spectrum of gay men – including, say, the beer-swilling, football-obsessed lad alongside the body-pumping Kylie-loving scene queen – but why does that mean discriminating against a funny comedian because he’s outrageously camp? What fuelled the backlash was a sense that the likes of Carr invite homophobia with their loud-and-proud campness, and all gay men suffer as a result. It is complicity with oppression,...

Alyssa Milano is speaking out about Jay Mohr's horrible comments about her weight. In case you missed it, the comedian was under fire after he talked about the former "Charmed" star during a radio interview."She's very tiny, in height," he said about her appearance. "It seems like she had had a baby and said, 'I don't really give a s–––' … I read it on her gut."Milano then called him out on Twitter and he later issued an apology, while saying he should have known better since his wife Nikki Cox has also faced her fair-share of online criticism about her changing looks. In a new interview with "Extra," the 41-year-old actress reveals that the comedian's words "hurt me," adding that she heard them on Christmas Day and was "affected by it and wanted to remind him that I'm a human being."She also spoke out against...

Jay Mohr's funny act did not win him any favors with Alyssa Milano after he insulted the actress's weight in a recent radio interview. "She's very tiny, in height…. It seems like she had had a baby and said, 'I don't really give a s---' … I read it on her gut," Mohr, 43, said about Milano's appearance at the Nascar Spring Cup Series Awards gala he hosted in Las Vegas on Dec. 6. Alyssa Milano Addresses Jay Mohr's Fat Jokes

What exactly did Mohr say for a laugh? “[Alyssa] was one of the presenters,” he said, referring to their joint attendance at the Nascar Sprint Cup Series Awards gala on Dec. 6 in Las Vegas. “She's very tiny, in height...It seems like she had a baby and said, ‘I don't really give a s--t'...I read it on her gut."

Comedian Jay Mohr might want to consider picking his targets a bit more carefully from now on. The former "Saturday Night Live" funny man, who now tours as a stand-up comic and hosts a podcast, made some unflattering comments about "Mistresses" star and "Project Runway: All Stars" host Alyssa Milano, after the two crossed paths at the Nascar Sprint Cup Series awards ceremony on December 6.
During a radio interview after the event, Mohr joked, "It seems like she had a baby and said, 'I don't really give a s***'," adding, "I read it on her gut." He also seemed confused about who she was, referring to her as "Melissa what's-her-name."
Milano didn't take the jab too kindly, but dealt with it in a very classy way with a tweet. ".@jaymohr37 So sorry you felt the need to publicly fat-shame me," she writes. "Be well and God Bless. Please...

At Screen International and Broadcast’s Diversify conference today, Aaqil Ahmed, commissioning editor for religion at the BBC, has said the UK film and TV industries should be “ashamed” of the decline in Bame representation in the creative media industries.
Ahmed lamented the findings of a recent Creative Skillset report, which highlighted a significant decline in Bame (black, Asian and minority ethnic people) representation in the film and TV industries between 2009-12.
“We should be ashamed of those figures. But we don’t need figures to show us. We look around us and we can see it. It’s not just that the figures have gone down but it’s that you won’t get another Aaqil Ahmed - a working class, Pakistani boy from Manchester - coming through the ranks. Mono-cultural issues are getting worse. I feel ashamed, personally and as an industry we should be ashamed. I don’t think we care enough. This industry...

This is a talk given by French director of photography Caroline Champetier at the La Roche-sur-Yon International Film Festival in October 2012, originally published in two parts on the festival’s site (www.fif-85.com). This translation is being published with their kind permission. This year's festival will take place from October 16-21, Kelly Reichardt will be the guest of honor. Many thanks to Emmanuel Burdeau, programmer of the festival, Jordan Mintzer and Caroline Champetier.
Caroline Champetier: I’ve always tried to take a step back from what I’m doing. The more I work, however, the less I’m able to deal with this exercise. I just finished production on Claude Lanzmann’s The Last of the Unjust and have barely said goodbye to David Teboul, a young director who I worked with on Cinq avenue Marceau (2002), a film I think very highly of and that’s about Yves Saint Laurent’s last collection.
