Alyssa Milano, who played Phoebe in the hit WB series “Charmed,” took to a panel hosted by Collider to respond to claims that she was responsible for Shannen Doherty’s exit from the fantasy drama series back in 2001.
While not denying the claims, Milano expressed that it was “sad.”
“I don’t think it’s really that I’m sad for me or for my life or how it does or does not affect my life. I’m the most sad for the fans. I’m the most sad that a show that has meant so much to so many people has been tarnished by a toxicity that is still to this day, almost a quarter of a century later, still happening,” Milano said at the panel. “And I’m sad that people can’t move past it. Most fantasy series tend to focus on the broader context of worldly implications while paying minimal attention to the characters’ personal intentions and daily lives. However, Constance M. Burge’s television series Charmed, which aired the pilot in 1998, pulled off precisely that. It was a show about three sisters who discover that they’re the most powerful witches ever to exist. As such, they have to fight back against demons and warlocks while dealing with their regular college life while dodging police and FBI investigations. The show lasted eight seasons and served as an excellent inspiration for women’s empowerment. It won

Charmed is officially over. On October 7, 1998, Constance M. Burge and Aaron Spelling created and produced one of the most successful shows on the now defunct WB network, Charmed, starring Shannen Doherty as Prue, Holly Marie Combs as Piper, and Alyssa Milano as Phoebe, which was about three witches who protected innocent lives from supernatural entities such as demons and warlocks. The series ran for eight seasons, and though it wasn’t an Emmy favorite like The Sopranos or Breaking Bad, audiences clearly loved the series due to the high viewership. Even after the show went off the air in

Hawkins will become the first trans actor on the reboot of the iconic show. He joins the cast in the recurring role of Kevin, a transgender male college student who inspires one of the Charmed Ones to take on a very formidable opponent. This is another step forward in authentic representation with a trans actor playing a trans role. The news of Hawkins’ casting couldn’t come at a better time considering this week marks Trans Awareness Week.
Hawkins, who uses the pronouns he/him and they/them interchangeably, is best known for his role as gender-non-conforming trans-masculine role Riley on the CBS limited series The Red Line from executive producers Ava Duvernay and Greg Berlanti. Exclusive: Charmed is the latest scripted series whose restarted production has been disrupted by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Filming on the CW drama has been paused for a day Wednesday as an individual from the production has tested positive for Covid-19, Deadline has learned. CBS Studios, which is behind Charmed, is following Covid protocols and conducting contact tracing, sources said.
The CW’s reboot of the fantasy drama, which films in Vancouver, previously shut down production last month for several days over delays in Covid-19 test results for cast and crew that impacted most series based there.
Charmed is set to premiere its third season on the CW on January 24.
The reboot of the series, which was created by Constance M. Burge and produced by Aaron Spelling that ran on the WB from 1998-2006, follows three sisters — played by Melonie Diaz, Sarah Jeffery and Madeleine Mantock — after the tragic death of their mother.

We all know the story: after feuding hard with on-screen sister Alyssa Milano, Shannen Doherty was killed off on Charmed. Prue gave way to Rose McGowan's Paige and the Power of Three restored for another five seasons. But had Lori Rom been part of the original Charmed Ones, we could've ended up with a completely different series. Oh, who's Lori Rom? Well, once upon a time she was one of the Halliwell sisters, before she vanished out of thin air. And, no, she wasn't Prue 1.0, but instead free-spirited Phoebe. Watch our video above to see what Phoebe looked like in the unaired pilot. Though the real reason she left has been lost to the archives, there were initial rumors that Lori left because of friction she maybe had with Shannen. The other prevailing reason is that she left because of religious reasons. But according to a recently unearthed interview...

The CW is looking to reignite the "Power of Three" with a reboot of the late ’90s/early 2000s witchcraft series Charmed.
Multiple sources, including Variety, report that The CW has ordered a pilot episode for a potential new Charmed series with the following description:
"This fierce, funny, feminist reboot of the original series centers on three sisters in a college town who discover they are witches. Between vanquishing supernatural demons, tearing down the patriarchy, and maintaining familial bonds, a witch’s work is never done."
Originally planned as a 1970s-set story, the reboot would take place in the modern day and is based on a story by Jane the Virgin creator Jennie Urman, with Jane the Virgin writers Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin penning the script and executive producing alongside Urman.

We take a look back at the original Charmed, and what made it so special...
The premise for Charmed must have sounded simple - a female-centric show about three witches living in San Francisco that would cash in on the success of Buffy The Vampire Slayer on the still-new WB network. They wouldn’t just be witches, but also sisters, relatable across demographics with Prue (Shannen Doherty) - the late-20s sensible one, Piper (Holly Marie Combs) - the neurotic middle sister, and Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) - the wayward college dropout.

Television audiences should prepare themselves to be bewitched once more, as The CW is reportedly bringing a long-gestating Charmed prequel to its schedule at an as-yet undisclosed point in the future. While the original series featured a contemporary setting, the prequel show will be set in 1976, and will possibly dispense with the familial connections between the main characters, in favour of a ‘found family’ situation.
The original Charmed ran for eight seasons, from 1998 to 2006, on The WB. Its first three seasons starred Holly Marie Combs, Alyssa Milano, and Shannen Doherty as the Halliwell sisters – a trio of sibling witches who found themselves fighting evil in their town, while wearing remarkable outfits. By the fourth season, Doherty (and her character) left the series, and was replaced in the cast by Rose McGowan, as a new member of the top-lining trio. Charmed was created by Constance M. Burge, and was an Aaron Spelling production.

Could the "Power of Three" be reignited? Fans of Charmed might be pleased (or very displeased) to hear that a reimagining of the late ’90s/early 2000s series is in the works at The CW.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Charmed reboot from CBS Television Studios has received a "script commitment," with Jane the Virgin scribes Jessica O'Toole and Amy Rardin on board to pen the pilot episode.
Official plot details are being kept under wraps right now, but the reboot will take place in 1976 and have some kind of a link to the original series that aired from 1998–2006 on The WB.
The showrunner of Jane the Virgin, Jennie Snyder Urman, is set to executive produce the pilot (and likely the series if it moves forward) along with Ben Silverman and Brad Silberling, with the latter also slated to direct the pilot episode.

CBS shows have migrated to younger skewing sibling the CW — CBS pilot Ringer became a CW series, and defunct CBS vampire drama Moonlight got a second run on the sister network. Now for the first time, there is migration in the other direction, with CBS looking to reboot a series from the CW predecessor, the WB. CBS has given a script order to Charmed, a reimagining of the original series centered around four sisters who discover their destiny – to battle against the forces of evil using their witchcraft. Created by Constance M. Burge and produced by Spelling TV, Charmed aired on the WB for eight seasons, concluding just before the network’s merger with Upn to form the CW in 2006. It has done well in off-network syndication on TNT and streaming on Netflix. The reboot, first reported by Vulture, will be written by Party Of Five co-creator Chris Keyser and...

The wonderful thing about shaping a show around witches is the treasure trove of themes that can be explored throughout the series depending on your approach. In Ryan Murphy's hands, witches are a conduit to examine aging and race on American Horror Story: Coven. Constance M. Burge examined sisterhood in an incredibly moving way on Charmed. Joss Whedon framed Wicca as an allegory for addiction with stunning results on Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Charmed creator Constance M. Burge is taking bosses at CBS Studios to court over allegations she was cheated out of profits from the supernatural TV show.
Burge's contract for the series, which starred Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano and ran from 1998 to 2006, gave her a salary as well as a portion of the show's proceeds.
But the writer alleges she was cheated out of millions of dollars due to faulty accounting, according to a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday and obtained by the Hollywood Reporter.
Burge claims executives at CBS Studios failed to allow a full audit of the series, but that her auditors managed to find "substantial underreporting of income" she is owed.
She is suing for breach of contract.
