Medal of Honor (2018)
Good story but to glorified
All in all interesting but very slow paced and repeating over and over and over and over things that could have been said and showed in minutes. To patriotic for my taste, and glorifying war to much, the stories are tragic enough, i don't need sob music on every corner hammering it away for 50 minutes.
Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018)
No i did not enjoy this at ALL.
The most helpful review at the moment says that i would enjoy this because i liked the first one. I didn't, i couldn't even finish it, i was not invested at all by the end (about 4/5) and the story made absolutely no sense whatsoever in terms of continuity, character development and world building.
Without spoiling anything there are so many incosistent random events, unclear charactermotivations and shoehorned happenings that the whole movie becomes a muddled mess.
You cannot tell me that those characters were acting the way they were supposed to, there is NO way this makes any sense. I also was confused by and large what was happening throughout the movie, not because the storyline was to complex but because of how it was told and directed, some things that were introduced through the story were not followed up at all and didn't play any role whatsoever in the end.
The Action and cinematography was ok, i also had no quarrels with benicio's performance, it's just that the script they had to work with is very weak and not more than a shadow of the first installment.
No, just no. I'm really sad i couldn't enjoy this, big fan of the first part.
BlacKkKlansman (2018)
Conflicted Experience
First of all, i did learn a couple of things that i had to look up after the movie that i found genuinely interesting and fascinating, having said that the movie touches on a very good subject but ultimately is just not very good as a movie because of pacing issues.
It's very hard for me to put the finger on it and verbalize what bothered me about the movie. I felt very disconnected with the characters mostly but was very interested in the story itself and the underlying issues.
Being called a racist if you don't like this movie shows exactly nowadays herd mentality, i was under the impression that i'm going in to watch a movie, and i will judge it as that, this is not a documentary that aim's to be judged on the researched facts. Consequently i'm also willing to forgive certain historical inaccuracies.
As i said initially the pacing is all over the place, some odd scenes in that are absolutely unnecessary to drive the story forward - but most important the "schtick" of this movie that the trailer showed was not necessary (and not adding anything) in my opinion in the end. Some scenes also felt incredibly rushed and felt like there was 20 minutes of additional content just missing for them to make sense, especially towards the end.
Having said all this i wasn't particularly bored, just mostly irritated and not very immersed. I don't regret going to see it, but i would not recommend the movie without reservations, i felt this is a bit of a missed opportunity and could have been even heavier on the subject.
Ascension (2014)
What a tragedy that this got cancelled....
This was one of the best scripts i've seen in a long time... the only reason why i didn't give it 10 stars is the wooden acting of some actors in the series but otherwise, the pacing and story of the whole thing was so well done and every twist hit me like a hammer, it was that good.
I was reluctant watching this and it lingered on my list of netflix for far to long, and when i started watching it i couldn't stop anymore. I love deep and complex stories and this completely delivered it was very very cool.
Such a shame that it doesnt get extended but what you have here is an absolute must watch, just don't read anything else from anyone, dont watch trailers, just try to watch the first episode in full. You won't be able to stop. It's a fantastic show and would deserve much more beyond what is here.
Ansatsu kyôshitsu (2013)
Starts of strong, trails off unfortunately
The premise of the show is very intriguing and i enjoyed it a lot the first couple episodes, but as the show goes on there are some really slow episodes in and it had trouble keeping my interest until the end of the 1st season. After a friend told me that there is a good conclusion at the end of it i kept on watching it but was sorely disappointed, i found the ending of season 1 really weird and anti-climatic, there was no real suspense. While the life lessons and deeper meaning through the shows are cool but ultimately very light philosophy attempts they fail to impress me. Character development is well done but the writing in general is average at best, there was no twist where i was like "oh wow".
I guess i just don't understand it, i will not continue watching through season 2.
The Blacklist (2013)
Over the top writing, inconsistent acting, overall unbelievable...
I can't believe this show has 8.2 Points in average after watching 4 episodes... i tried to find out what people love about it but it's just so over the top and unbelievable that i'm suspecting that only the usual CSI:Miami crowd can like it.
According to this show, the FBI is a club full of incompetent tie wearers who cannot figure out anything.
Spader's acting, while great, cannot save the character he plays. It almost never makes sense what he's putting out.
Villain's are completely safe from the FBI and CIA as long as they flee the immediate crime scene.
The female FBI agent that is paired up with our main character is completely incompetent, gullible and on top puts up a lackluster acting performance. It's really really cringe worthy.
I didn't enjoy this show at all and will quit for now.
