Mythic Quest (2020– )

By far the worst of the Its Always Sunny cast independent projects

First season was watchable with a couple of laughs but the second has reminded me that this is plain awful TV. I only watched it for the actors. The best of which is the hilarious right wing intern girl.

The rest is disappointing. Rob Mcelhenney has continued his vain new style which is also ruining It's Always Sunny. It is all about ego and he provides zero laughs. He just wants to play the beefcake with his "roided" muscles showing as much as possible. It's really sad how self centered he has become at the expense of laughs, just so he can massage his ego.

It feels like it is trying desperately to cater to the woke generation with patronising diversity and whatnot. It's trying to hard to be woke and comes across as forced: one Indian, one black, one Asian, one right winger, one lesbian couple. It is so obviously planned to reach a certain demographic by marketing, rather than just being a well written funny comedy made for laughs.

The old dude is fine, he is a good actor. The Indian dude is also a good actor from other shows. But the rest don't offer much. It isn't really a comedy and it goes off plot too much - probably because it is so weak.

I find it baffling that the amazing The Mick hasn't been renewed yet this was given a 2nd season. It really is poor and is stalling the release of It's Always Sunny's new season. AP Bio is the other show from a Sunny star which is thankfully being renewed, very funny. This is just a waste of time imo, although lots of others like it so perhaps it appeals to a younger generation.

Average But Important Comedy

This was an entertaining romp of a comedy. The two stars are not actors I am a fan of and I found their performances dull for Seth Rogan (as usual) and over acting for James Franco (who felt totally miss-cast).

The movie currently has a score on this website of 9.2. I suspect this is a reaction vote because it was nearly banned. It is important that this movie was not banned to preserve freedom of speech. The correct score should be around 6.

The film lightly touches on the political issues in North Korea. Most notably that money is spent on weapons when it should be spent on looking after the people. Plus of course the leader is made to be seen as some kind of a god. Perhaps this movie will help to open a few eyes within North Korea.

The jokes weren't bad, but it wasn't really laugh out loud funny either. There were some rather hilarious moments such as the finger biting incident, but overall the jokes were spoiled by James Franco's awful over acting.

This is neither a classic or a terrible movie. It is important that it has been released but there is no need to go and watch it because it just isn't that good. If I could give it 5.5 stars I would.

Swashbuckling Fun Ruined by Arrogant Sentimental Ending

This film began and continued just as you would expect. A swashbuckling romp with all the old characters. For around 1+ hour things were going great with a decent storyline and a few new elements to keep things fresh enough. It was shaping up to get a solid 6.7 score.

Then all of a sudden the movie changed. It became a sentimental 20 minute ending. It stunk of arrogance by the creators, who must of thought that these characters meant much more to us than they really do. It was as if each was given their own heart breaking goodbye, it became very dull and uncomfortable.

This dragged on an on. At one point I couldn't help from saying aloud "boring". I don't think anybody heard but they were probably thinking the same. The final ten minutes or so was very strange indeed and the story just seemed to go off the rails, maybe the creator was setting it up so he can make another one with a few different directions?

We watched this on Christmas Day hoping for a fun action packed comedy movie. If we had left after one hour we would of left very happy. Instead the last 30 minutes or so were so dire that it has inspired me to write this, my first IMDb review.
