If Tarantino did an animated feature, this would be it
10 March 2004
This movie combines style, gunplay, a compelling story, deep characters, detailed visuals, and a wonderful jazz score. A+

To be fair though, you must be at least a little familliar with the series to fully appreciate this movie. The series itself is a masterpiece; in my opinion one of the greatest television series of all time. The dub is a cut above most imported anime. Dialogue is often underapreciated in an animated series, so dubbing companies will be indiscreet with selecting voice actors. Bebop's dub, however, is very close to the original script and the voice acting is quite impressive. None of the jokes or subtleties were lost in the translation.

Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995–1996)
Excellent animation, very original story....psychobabble overdose

I fail to see why this show has reached cult levels of admiration. Yes the animation is very good (for the time), the story is original with lots of action and drama, the theatrics are good and the music is good. However I cannot get by the film's one flaw - the massive amount of time devoted to exploring the psyche of the main character (literally). This kid has problems yes, but devoting entire episodes to probing his mind is unnecessary. Plus, the mental imagery contradicts itself often and doesnt really have a clear pattern or focus. The kid doesnt really go through any major change or epiphany, his psyche is just as messed up at the end as it was at the beginning....and by the way the ending was plain confusing to me and completely unfufilling. There are a few loose ends/important plot details that are never wrapped up.

All in all, I would still recommend this anime series.

a delightful and surreal comedy for preteens

Using a setting and characters they can relate to, the show can safely entertain kids while teaching them moral values. a cast of oddballish characters in a not so odd setting keeps the show fresh for kids.

Cowboy Bebop (1998–1999)
Futuristic Scifi meets comedy meets Bogart Noir meets western meets John Woo

In my opinion, the best animated series I have ever seen...and Ive seen a lot. The cinematography and metaphoric usage can be compared with Hitchcock and the jazzy musical score compliments the atmosphere and mood incredibly well. The plot is not perfect (one or two unneccesary but enjoyable filler episodes), but as far as animated series go its among the best. The animation high quality and very realistic (no bubbly eyes or super-deformed expressions). This is a great series even for someone who isnt interested in cartoons; it definitely breaks the stereotype for japanese animation.
