During the Super Bowl, the teaser trailer for ‘Deadpool 3’ was released as predicted, offering a tantalizing glimpse into what appears to be the next exciting chapter in the MCU. Among the revelations in the trailer is the appearance of Cassandra Nova as the movie’s main villain, confirming rumors that surfaced back in August 2023. We had previously speculated that Charles Xavier might also have a role in the film due to Cassandra’s involvement. For those unfamiliar with Cassandra, she has a tragic backstory: she was Xavier’s twin gestating in the womb.
Xavier identified her as the “Mummudrai,” the Shi’ar equivalent of an equal and opposite spirit. Despite Xavier’s genetic potential, Cassandra emerged as his physical twin. However, Xavier perceived her as malevolent and attempted to kill her with his psychic abilities, leading to a miscarriage for their mother, Sharon. Cassandra survived and spent decades in a sewer wall,...

Xavier recognized Cassandra as being the so-called “Mummudrai” by the Shi’ar, an equal and opposite spirit of Professor Charles Xavier. Due to Xavier’s genetic potential,...

Luke Thompson may be known for his role as Benedict Bridgerton, but "Bridgerton" isn't his first major acting credit, nor is it his first time working with Netflix. Previously, Thompson starred in "Dunkirk," "Misbehaviour," and a thriller miniseries on Netflix titled "Kiss Me First." Of course, now he's widely recognized as the second-eldest sibling on "Bridgerton."
Of the eight Bridgerton siblings, Thompson is most similar to his fictional counterpart. Like Benedict, he also appreciates the theater and fine arts and prefers to keep his private life out of the spotlight."There's a bit of a question mark when it comes to Benedict, and as an actor, that's such a great thing to play with," Thompson told Shondaland. "You get to reveal the character bit by bit instead of showing the audience who he is right away." It appears the actor is playing a similar game of his own. Fans will...

In a new profile for Harper’s Bazaar magazine, Keira Knightley wonders why it took her so long to call out misogyny in and out of Hollywood. Her answer? Misogyny and harassment is so institutionalized that sometimes you don’t even think about it. As the Oscar-nominated actress said, “It was when women started listing all the precautions they take when they walk home to make sure they’re safe, and I thought, I do every single one of them, and I don’t even think about it. It’s fucking depressing.”
Harper’s Bazaar reports that during the interview with Knightley a “lone male stranger” approached the actress and the interviewer and shouted at Knightley, asking if she went to the school in the nearby area. The two “hastily departed to find sanctuary in a nearby garden square,” but the man followed them “a few minutes later.”

Heavy is the head that wears the crown, and in many ways, that would be British producer Suzanne Mackie. As an executive producer on “The Crown,” she has spent the better part of the past 10 years working on the hit Netflix series, taking on her share of controversy along the way. But you’d be hard pressed to find a cooler head: never mind Claire Foy or Olivia Colman, Mackie is the only queen who will see the whole show across its six seasons.
Mackie, who is this year’s recipient of Variety’s Achievement in Intl. TV Award, has shepherded the royal family period piece from the earliest seedling of an idea — pitched when the streaming giant’s eye-watering originals drive was still in its infancy, riding high on “House of Cards” — to the Golden Globe, SAG and Emmy-winning, agenda-setting hit it’s become, both for Netflix and the U.

As Keira Knightley says she won’t shoot one with a male director, the use of intimacy coordinators means that actors can be more comfortable with what they are asked to do
Once ubiquitous, the screen sex scene is in deep trouble. Keira Knightley, star of Misbehaviour, Official Secrets and Colette, appears to have driven the final nail in the coffin of the traditional sex scene with recent comments that she will no longer participate in “those horrible sex scenes where you’re all greased up and everybody is grunting”, and that she is not prepared to shoot sex scenes with male directors so as not to “portray the male gaze”.
Knightley’s stance reflects an increasing dissatisfaction with the way film-makers have handled such scenes in films and TV shows. Philippa Lowthorpe, who directed Knightley in Misbehaviour, the 2020 film about feminist protesters who disrupted the Miss World competition in...

Keira Knightley has put a ban on shooting sex scenes for male directors, the Oscar-nominated actress revealed on a recent installment of the “Chanel Connects” podcast (via The Hollywood Reporter). Knightley, who has had a “no nudity clause” added to her film contracts since becoming a mother in 2015, cited the male gaze as an issue in sex scenes, adding that she does not want to be featured “in those horrible sex scenes where you’re all greased up and everybody is grunting. I’m not interested in doing that.”
“I don’t have an absolute ban [on filming nude scenes], but I kind of do with men,” Knightley said. “It’s partly vanity and also it’s the male gaze.”
Knightley added, “Saying that, there’s times where I go, ‘Yeah, I completely see where this sex would be really good in this film and you basically just need somebody to look hot,’ so...

Actress Keira Knightley, whose new film Misbehaviour celebrates inclusivity, feminism and beauty of all kinds, said sexual objectification of women still takes place.
Misbehaviour tells the true story of feminists who disrupted the broadcast of the Miss World contest in 1970.
Commenting on the issue of sexism that the film delves into, Keira Knightley said, "Sexual objectification of women still exists, and often women are still valued primarily for their looks. The only industry in the world where women are paid more than men is modelling. I think there is a conversation to be had over that."
"Wherever your sympathies lie, I think the film will make you question your views, and that's really interesting," she added.
Her interest in the project grew as it told the story through various perspectives.
"What I really loved about the script is that it is told from three different points of view; it's told...

Entertainment One is winding down its German theatrical operation in coming weeks, we understand.
We hear the company will continue to sell to the key market but will no longer acquire films to directly distribute theatrically, a move which will impact around eight Germany-based staff.
eOne declined to comment on the development, which was first reported in German trade Blickpunkt earlier this month.
The studio set up in the territory three years ago with the local operation overseen by Benjamina Mirnik-Voges, formerly head of acquisitions for Universum.
The distributor had significant success last year with Oscar-winner Green Book, which attracted 1.6 million admissions, good for $15M. Other key releases included Ruth Bader Ginsburg doc Rbg and biopic Judy, both of which amassed more than 100,000 admissions. Among the division’s Berlin Film Festival entrants were 7 Days In Entebbe and Berlin Alexanderplatz, which won five German Film Awards this year.

Photo: 'Misbehaviour'/20th Century Fox “I don’t want you to think I’m some kind of brute that doesn’t consider the feelings of women, of course,” explains Bob Hope to the global audience of Miss World 1970, while bearing a charming grin and twirling the cord of a microphone, “I consider feeling women all the time.” Sally Alexander, British scholar and activist, politely begins the Women’s Liberation movement with a snarl and a bang. “F**k this,” her character quips, before starting a televised in-house protest against female pageantry and objectification. Philippa Lowthorpe, the director behind the charming 'Swallows and Amazons', has delivered a powerful, moving portrayal on the waves of feminism as it began to take on a global form in the early 1970s, and the women involved with the first protests against the Miss World pageant. ‘The Furnace.’
Most independent Australian distributors are doing it tough, forced to postpone releases while the exhibition business languishes with Victorian cinemas closed and seating capacity restricted in the rest of the country.
They fear the Federal Government’s media reforms, which will lower the Producer Offset for films to 30 per cent and double the minimum qualifying Australian production expenditure (Qape) threshold for features to $1 million, will lead to fewer narrative features and feature documentaries.
Another concern is that removing the obligation to release films in cinemas will further deplete the number of titles available to distributors next year.
However most are confident the cinema business will rebound from Boxing Day onwards with the launches of Warner Bros’ Wonder Woman 1984, Universal/DreamWorks Animation’s The Croods: A New Age and Sony’s Peter Rabbit 2, and that 2021 will be a strong year.

As we head into October, the amount of new content on streaming and VOD platforms doesn’t seem to be slowing down, Covid-19 or not. For this weekend, a number of new movies were added to the major providers, including Misbehaviour, Ava, Alone, and No Escape. What, then, can we expect from these new titles and where can you watch them?
Well, first up is the Keira Knightley-starring Misbehaviour, a British comedy-drama from Philippa Lowthorpe. Set during the 1970 Miss World competition, the film examines the context behind a feminist protest at the event, and the impact of the first black winner. As with many new releases this year, a cinematic outing was curtailed by the pandemic, and with a decent response from reviewers, it’s worth checking out as a rental on the Microsoft or iTunes stores.

Not everyone in Philippa Lowthorpe’s “Misbehaviour” has signed up for the revolution. Wide-ranging to a fault, the filmmaker’s multi-faceted look at the 1970 Miss World beauty pageant weaves its tale from the perspectives of a litany of players involved with what turned into a culture-shifting protest. the winner was not the Swedish favourite but Miss Grenada, the first black woman to be crowned Miss World. In a matter of hours, a global audience had witnessed the patriarchy driven from the stage and the Western ideal of beauty turned on its head.
The film is directed by BAFTA winner Philippa Lowthorpe (Three Girls) and stars Keira Knightley,...

"Forget this!" Shout Factory has released a new US trailer for the UK film Misbehaviour, a quirky comedy about badass women fighting back in the 70s. It already opened in the UK earlier this year. The film tells the true story of what happened during the 1970 Miss World competition in London, a beauty pageant that was the most viewed TV show at the time. The film stars Keira Knightley, with Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Miss Grenada, Lesley Manville, Jessie Buckley, Keeley Hawes, Rhys Ifans, Phyllis Logan, Suki Waterhouse, Emma Corrin, plus Greg Kinnear as legendary American comedian Bob Hope (who hosted Miss World at the time). This looks great! Raucous and witty and amusing and devious. Catch up...

The Bentonville Film Festival set the lineup for its sixth edition Tuesday, with the festival co-founded by Geena Davis unveiling its spotlight and competition program of indie feature films, shorts and episodic titles.
