Things heat up in the twelth episode of Violet Evergarden as peace talks between the nations are threatened by a group of renegades.
This episode is much more focused on action than all previous installments (excluding the equally unnamed episode 8, where Violet's war-filled past was explored). But by no means are we missing out on the emotional side of things. The clever and thoughtful writing that has filled the entire series with one heartwrenching moment after the other is just as present in this episode, keeping characters consistent yet also making them grow.
From the technical aspects, the series remains excellent. There are some especially stunning visuals in this one, the soundtrack fits perfectly, and the direction is masterful.
My only gripe are some minor plot weaknesses. When a bunch of riflemen want to kill an opponent, they probably won't do so by charging to use their bayonets...
