Hulu has to be pretty pleased with its list of new releases for June 2024. That’s because it’s about to be the summer of The Bear once again.
The Bear season 3 premieres all of its episodes on June 27 on Hulu. This FX dramedy has proven to be one of the most successful shows of its era. Jeremy Allen White stars as Carmy Berzatto, a world-famous chef who returns home to Chicago to help his floundering family restaurant after the death of his brother. Season 2 saw The Original Beef of Chicagoland crew transform the spot into fine dining establishment The Bear. It ruled. So will season 3 probably.
FX is responsible for the other major TV release on Hulu this month. Clipped premieres on June 4 and is about the scandalous real life story of Donald Sterling, the awful owner of the basketball team the Los Angeles Clippers. Another intriguing TV option...

A long-awaited video game adaptation now has new life. Universal Pictures has officially boarded the "Just Cause" movie, and the studio has some impressive talent behind the camera to make the project a reality. That starts with director Ángel Manuel Soto, best known for directing the DC superhero movie "Blue Beetle." The project has also added "The Fall Guy" director David Leitch and his producing partner (and wife) Kelly McCormick on board as producers with their company, 87North.
Universal has a longstanding relationship with Leitch, as the filmmaker made "Hobbs & Shaw" for the studio before stepping behind the camera for "The Fall Guy." He also very nearly directed the new "Jurassic World" film before Gareth Edwards took over. 87North has a first-look deal with the studio, so this partnership makes sense. Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson are also on board as producers. As for Soto,...

Brendan Fraser has been seeing a revival in his career after he won the Oscar for his role in Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale. However, the actor will always be known for his role as Rick O’Connell in the horror adventure film The Mummy. Directed by Stephen Sommers, the film made him a bonafide star and turned the franchise into a huge asset for Universal Studios.
While Fraser shot to worldwide fame with The Mummy and its sequel The Mummy Returns, the latter also turned another upcoming actor into a star. Dwayne Johnson, who was a rising star at WWE at the time, made a cameo as the Scorpion King in The Mummy Returns, leading him to receive his own spinoff film a year later.

The Fall Guy is kicking off summer movie season with a No. 1 debut at the box office this weekend, but it’s coming in below initial tracking. After earning $10.4 million on Friday, the feature is now projected to open to $28 million for the weekend, down from earlier tracking that had it in the $30-$35 million range.
The film earned an A- CinemaScore from audiences, so it’s possible word of mouth could help the movie make up ground in the coming weeks. The Fall Guy is said to have a net budget of $130 million when accounting for incentives for shooting in Australia. Overseas, it is projected to take in another $25.8 million over the weekend, which would bring its global haul to $65.4 million. (It already opened in some markets last week.)

Spoiler Alert: This story discusses plot elements from “The Fall Guy,” now playing in theaters.
Long before Taylor Swift embarked on the Eras Tour, director David Leitch and producer Kelly McCormick had the idea to use “All Too Well” as a key moment in “The Fall Guy.”
McCormick, a self-professed Swiftie, and Leitch were trying to find a fresh and contemporary song to fit into a particular scene.
In the film, Ryan Gosling plays Colt Seavers, one of Hollywood’s top stuntmen. After experiencing an on-set accident, he falls off the grid for 18 months, ghosting aspiring director Jody (Emily Blunt), someone he also happens to be dating. The two awkwardly reunite on the set of her directorial debut, and when they wrap their first day, Colt retreats to his pickup truck reflecting on happier times with Jody.
McCormick thought a Swift song would be perfect for that scene, and even Gosling agreed.

Ryan Gosling is back at the box office, but he’s ditching his “Barbie” fur coat for a stuntman’s jumpsuit.
His latest movie, “The Fall Guy,” has arrived in theaters and made $3.15 million in Thursday previews at the box office.
The film is expected to open around $30 million this weekend, with some estimates as high as $35 million or $40 million. It will need to hit hard at the box office and carry good word-of-mouth, because it carries a budget of $130 million.
Gosling stars as seasoned stuntman Colt Seavers in Universal’s “The Fall Guy,” which is based on the ’80s TV show of the same name that starred Lee Majors as a stuntman turned bounty hunter. After a grisly accident, Colt retires from the stunt life and breaks up with his girlfriend and camera operator Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt). This article contains massive spoilers for "The Fall Guy."
Stunt work is all about selling an illusion. When the medium of cinema was first invented, it was initially marketed and thought of as something akin to a sideshow attraction, a wondrous magic trick where a series of pictures put next to each other and illuminated in rapid succession gave the illusion of movement. After this initial novelty gave way to artists utilizing the medium to tell stories, the craftspeople making movies realized that the concept of illusion extended to every aspect of filmmaking.
Where theatre was traditionally bound to a stage or perhaps a circus tent, the movies could expand the canvas of what could be done physically — if cameras could capture it, it could be performed. It's no surprise, then, that films saw people like Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, and others push the boundaries of physicality and feats of derring-do in the cinema.

“The Fall Guy” (Universal) opens in the U.S./Canada Friday — one of the most prestigious spots on the movie release calendar. Since “Iron Man” in 2008, and since Disney initiated the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2012, the first weekend in May has marked the start of the summer movie season.
When MCU “Deadpool & Wolverine” left this date in favor of July 26, Universal grabbed it — and the expectations that come with it. As a result, there’s an unusually wide range of estimates for the domestic opening weekend: We hear everything from the high 20s to over $50 million, with consensus closer to $35 million or a bit more.
An opening weekend of $35 million-$40 million would be a big improvement over a disastrous April (where “Civil War” was the sole film to debut over $25 million), but that would be only the fifth-best opening of 2024. Historically, this date tops any opening gross and usually...

Producer Kelly McCormick isn’t prone to counting chickens before they hatch, especially when they come in the form of $125 million blockbusters built around the long-gestating resurrection of some classic TV IP. But, given the critical affection already poured on her latest, “The Fall Guy,” and the apparent readiness of the moviegoing public to see a tentpole that truly has it all (plus stunts so massive they are already literal world record-breakers), it might be time for McCormick to start thinking “franchise potential” right now.
As co-founder of the production and action design company 87North — along with her husband, “The Fall Guy” director David Leitch — McCormick is a major player in the action space. Man, does she have fun with it. She’s produced everything from “Bullet Train” and “Atomic Blonde” to “Nobody,” along with executive producing “Deadpool 2” and “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.”

Ostensibly a big-screen reboot of the 1980s television series of the same name, “The Fall Guy” is actually director and former stunt performer David Leitch’s love letter to both his wife, producer Kelly McCormick, and the undersung art of stunt work — only not always in that order.
Working closely with screenwriter and executive producer Drew Pearce, who previously scripted his “Fast and the Furious” spinoff “Hobbs & Shaw,” Leitch creates a clearinghouse of gobsmacking stunts (some truly record-breaking) while chronicling the tumultuous relationship between veteran stunt man Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling) and first-time director Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt). It’s quick-witted (and quick-footed) fun that bridges multiple generations of Hollywood moviemaking, melding together rom-coms and bombastic action into one blockbuster package.
Since making his screenwriting debut on Shane Black’s “Iron Man 3,” Pearce has developed an aptitude for conceiving stories that maintain a singular yet cohesive tonal balance.

Michael Douglas is in terrific form as Benjamin Franklin in Apple TV’s new historical limited series “Franklin” but he isn’t the only actor to emerge with awards whispers whizzing through the air. Veteran actor Eddie Marsan features in a key supporting role as John Adams and delivers one of the finest performances of his career while also shining a new light onto a man that many actors have depicted before.
The limited series follows Franklin’s eight years in France as he tried to persuade King Louis XVI (Tom Pezier) to join the colonies’ cause and aid them in the American Revolutionary War. The scenes between Douglas and Marsan are nothing short of spectacular and Marsan nails his performance as Adams, as noted by critics.
Clint Worthington (Roger Ebert) noted: “Marsan’s energy as Adams is decidedly different from Paul Giamatti’s in Ellis’ original 2008 miniseries—“Franklin” feels...

Clint Worthington (Roger Ebert) noted: “Marsan’s energy as Adams is decidedly different from Paul Giamatti’s in Ellis’ original 2008 miniseries—“Franklin” feels...

The Fall Guy Producer On Ryan Gosling & Emily Blunt’s On-Screen Relationship ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling created box office history with their respective movies last year. Oppenheimer and Barbie not only clashed at the theatres, but both were successful. The Barbenheimer clash [Barbie & Oppenheimer] was one of the most talked about topics on social media last year, and now the actors have paired up for the movie The Fall Guy about stunt performers. Producer Kelly McCormick has recently given an insight into Ryan and Emily’s incredible chemistry on the film’s set.
Emily and Ryan are two of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood, and they rekindled their Barbenheimer banter on the 96th Academy Awards stage last month. Although Blunt did not take home the golden statuette, her team ruled the night with seven wins, including Best Picture. Meanwhile, Ryan’s Barbie won the box office war last year.

Last month, non-profit group Good Energy launched what it called a Bechdel Test for Climate Change, a simple set of criteria designed to determine if it was clear climate change was present in a film. The real Allison Bechdel even endorsed it.
As part of the “Climate Reality Check,” just three movies nominated for Oscars this year passed the test’s two simple rules: “Climate change exists” and “a character knows it.” Now a more extensive study published by Good Energy and Colby College’s Buck Lab for Climate and Environment has analyzed 250 of the top grossing movies between 2013 and 2022 under the same criteria.
Global warming has been with us for a while now, but only 12.8 percent — 32 of the 250 films studied in that time span — even passed the first criteria saying that climate change exists. Only 24 films, or 9.6 percent, passed both criteria of the test.

Idris Elba, the man, known for portraying some iconic roles throughout his career is known for his diversified roles. From action to serious roles, from deadpan to quirky, Elba is quite a veteran actor who is still relevant in Hollywood.
Elba, being known for portraying the role of Dci John Luther in the iconic BBC series Luther, seems to have hung the iconic Luther coat. In an interview, however, the Hijack actor stated that there are still some things left for John Luther to do!

The road to movie stardom for Dwayne Johnson is one of the unlikeliest in recent memory. A third-generation professional wrestler known the world over as “The Rock,” Johnson nabbed a supporting role in 2001’s “The Mummy Returns” and made such an impression that he starred in a successful stand-alone film, “The Scorpion King,” the very next year.
As his film career progressed, it became evident that, despite his success in action films, Johnson had a distinct flair for comedy, which he began to show off in such films as “Be Cool” (2005), “Central Intelligence” (2016), “Moana” (2016) and in his biggest-grossing film, “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” (2017). One of the most recent was “Jungle Cruise” (2021) for Disney.
But it’s in high-concept action cinema that Johnson has found his greatest success, especially after hopping aboard the highly lucrative “Fast and Furious” franchise. He even got his own spin-off adventure, “Hobbs & Shaw” (2019), which...

It's no secret that the first third of 2024 has been at best uneven as far as the box office goes. Ticket sales are lagging way behind this same point in 2023, in no small part thanks to movies like "Abigail" and "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare" underperforming on the same weekend. Thankfully, the summer movie season is on the horizon and Hollywood, as well as theater owners, will hinge their hopes on a varied slate being able to sell an outsized number of tickets. That all begins next weekend with the release of Universal's "The Fall Guy." The question is, can Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt strike gold in the summer season once again after last year's Barbenheimer phenomenon?
"The Fall Guy" will be the first blockbuster to hit theaters in May, which typically ushers in the summer for Hollywood. Currently, the big-budget action/comedy is looking at an opening weekend in the $40 million range,...

In a scene early in The Fall Guy, a nameless crewmember buckles Ryan Gosling’s seat belt as his character is about to attempt a cannon roll, a classic car stunt, on the set of a fictional science fiction movie called Metal Storm. Gosling plays Hollywood stuntman Colt Seavers, who is reluctantly returning to the film business after an injury, but in many ways the real star of the scene is the background actor buckling him in, Logan Holladay. Though his screen time lasts only a few moments, Holladay was the real-life stunt driver for Gosling — the one who actually steered a Jeep Grand Cherokee down a Sydney beach and rolled it eight and a half times on the sand, breaking the Guinness world record of seven rolls set by Adam Kirley, the driver of James Bond’s Aston Martin in 2006’s Casino Royale.

Following his loss at WrestleMania Xl, Roman Reigns has reportedly taken a hiatus from the wrestling realm, and it seems that the former Universal Champion is now taking a step toward the silver screen glory. While he’s no stranger to making an impact on film, Reigns seems poised to make an even bigger splash with an undisclosed role in the upcoming film Good Fortune.

He is set to join a star-studded cast including Keanu Reeves, Keke Palmer, and Seth Rogen. While fans have had a glimpse at his potential character, the specifics of his role remain shrouded in mystery. Roman Reigns has been a tremendous force in the WWE for years, but his latest move has fans speculating about his future in the wrestling world. After his loss at WrestleMania 40, his viral picture floated on social media, in which he looked dapper and Hollywood-ready. Could this be a sign that the Big Dog is prepared to put his skills on the silver screen?
Although it is unclear when Reigns, 38, will step back into the ring, the Tribal Chief is said to be keeping himself occupied by working on a major new film project. It is no secret that a number of professional wrestlers have made a successful transition into the entertainment industry; two such examples are Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and John Cena.

Being the current representative of the Hollywood action hero community, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has always stayed an arm’s length away from the villainous WWE persona that gave him his first taste of recognition and fame. But after a lengthy sabbatical and a worse-for-wear stretch in Hollywood, his eventual return to the ring was perhaps inevitable, and as such, one of the lesser brow-raising points of his career.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the Final Boss [Credit: WWE]What did however seduce an already fascinated audience was the former People’s Champion’s resurrection as a heel, his readiness to brutality, and the sheer perverse enjoyment that he has (seemingly) derived from it. The Rock’s new persona, if not anything else, only proves how severely Hollywood messed up by exiling his evil façade in favor of a generic burly everyman hero obsessed with one-man rescue missions through tsunamis and earthquakes.

John Cena offered the tiniest glimmer of insight into the long-running feud between Vin Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson that shook the Fast and Furious franchise.

Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel’s longstanding “Fast & Furious” feud came to an official end last year when Johnson shocked fans by popping up as the beloved Luke Hobbs in a “Fast X” mid-credits scene. Diesel had extended an invitation to Johnson in November 2021 to join “Fast X,” but Johnson said the following month that “I would not be returning to the franchise.” That turned out to be a bluff.
The duo’s “Fast & Furious” co-star John Cena recently appeared on the “Armchair Expert” podcast (via People) and was asked by host Dax Shepard about the rumors concerning Johnson and Diesel’s on-set tussle. The host said “that was a rough pairing.”

The Screen Actors Guild and Directors Guild of America have approved the first-ever credit of “stunt designer.”

O’Hara’s position as a production head on set is traditionally titled “stunt coordinator.” It is an official Screen Actors Guild credit also recognized by the Directors Guild of America. The addition of the “stunt designer” title better encompasses the multifaceted nature of the profession.

Buckle up because Universal Pictures has released a brand new trailer for "The Fall Guy." With a pair of huge stars in Ryan Gosling ("Barbie") and Emily Blunt ("Oppenheimer) at its center — both of whom are coming off of Oscars nominations for their work on two of 2023's biggest movies — this flick has summer blockbuster written all over it. A reboot of largely forgotten IP, a director who knows his way around action, and a couple of very charming stars? It's all here. Check out the trailer for yourself above.
Lots of action and lots of comedy at play here. David Leitch, whose previous credits include "Bullet Train" and "Deadpool 2," seems to be very much at home with the material, especially since he was a stuntman before becoming an A-list director. It looks, in a word, fun. That's because, for my money, it is a great deal of fun.

Over the last ten years, former stuntman David Leitch has directed such films as Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, Hobbs & Shaw, Bullet Train, and the upcoming The Fall Guy. While he keeps busy directing action films, he also produces them, with two Leitch productions being Nobody and Violent Night, both of which were released by Universal Pictures. Talking to Collider, Leitch and fellow producer Kelly McCormick confirmed that Universal is really invested in building Nobody and Violent Night franchises – so Nobody 2 and Violent Night 2 are both heading toward production!

His post-traumatic shame disorder reignites a long-cooled fire within, and he summons a secret lethal skill set for a revenge mission, only to see it backfire spectacularly and put his family in greater jeopardy.

The Fall Guy isn’t just an ode to the daring world of stunt performers; it pushes the boundaries of cinematic action. Recently, Universal Pictures and 87North revealed a record-breaking feat achieved during filming. The movie boasts the highest number of consecutive cannon rolls ever performed in a single stunt.
Ryan Gosling plays a stuntman named Colt Seavers in The Fall Guy
In a jaw-dropping sequence, Logan Holladay, the stuntman for Ryan Gosling’s character, executed this remarkable feat. Behind the wheel of a modified Jeep Grand Cherokee, Holladay flawlessly executed eight and a half cannon rolls, surpassing the previous record held by Adam Kirley from Casino Royale, which was seven.

It's been several days now since this year's Oscars ceremony, and yet I'm still scratching my head as to why the Academy had Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt present a montage honoring stunts and stunt performers without mentioning why they had selected these two specific actors to do so. Then there's the bitter irony of the Academy celebrating stunt performers while stubbornly refusing to give them an Oscar of their own, but that's a whole other rabbit hole.
While it's true the pair starred in dual halves of Barbenheimer last year, they've also got a new film coming out in "The Fall Guy." Loosely adapted from Glen A. Larson's '80s action-adventure TV series of the same name, the movie casts Gosling as a stuntman who's rapidly aging out of his occupation from years of risking permanent bodily harm, only to find himself unraveling a mystery on the set...

After winning hearts with his performance as Ken in last year’s Barbie, Ryan Gosling will be seen in the upcoming action comedy The Fall Guy. Based on the TV series of the same name, the film is directed by David Leitch, who previously helmed Bullet Train and Deadpool 2. The film also stars Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Winston Duke.
Gosling plays the role of an aging stunt performer in the film. It reportedly has multiple action sequences that have pushed the limit in terms of practical stunts performed. Gosling was reportedly shocked by one of the sequences and expressed his regret about the stunt community not getting their due recognition in Hollywood.

Dwayne Johnson is not only one of the most talented actors in Hollywood but also one of the highest-paid ones. It is known that any franchise or movie starring the actor will be highly entertaining even if it is not a masterpiece like some of his other movies. This is the reason why he has turned out to be one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood.
Over the years, Johnson has gained the reputation of an action star. This persona suits him well, thanks to his buffed-up appearance and wrestling background. He began his acting career when he was still wrestling and started acting in earnest when he was away from WWE with the 2001 movie The Mummy Returns. In all these years, he has managed to accumulate a net worth that could easily make some of the biggest actors jealous.
