1st June 2020: BBC confirmed the commission of a fifth series to air in 2021. The series will be filmed in a different location than the previous four due to confrontations with neighbours who lived on the street where the show was filmed.
On Wednesday, 17th August 2022, the British Broadcasting Corporation confirmed that the Scottish sitcom will return for a sixth series and a Christmas Special in late 2022. However, the character of Cathy will not appear in series 6 of the hit comedy as Doon Mackichan is leaving the show. Siobhan Redmond will be joining the cast as a new series regular. The BBC press release states that "Colin (Jonathan Watson) needs his neighbours more than ever this series as his wife Cathy has left him and now lives abroad, but he can't help oversharing personal details". The reason for Doon Mackichan's departure has not been given.
Colin's dad Willie celebrates his 78th birthday in one episode, but is said to have died at the age of 91 just two years later.
On Wednesday, 19th September 2018 the BBC confirmed that they have commissioned a fourth series of the Scottish sitcom. Filming on series four commences in Glasgow in October 2018 for broadcast on BBC Two in early 2019.
