Ethan Hawke, with a career peppered with critical acclaim and Academy Award nominations, once experienced the bittersweet melody of Oscar near-misses. Nominated for his role in Richard Linklater’s groundbreaking drama Boyhood (2014), Hawke, 53, faced stiff competition in the Academy Awards race. The actor felt his chances would slip away after he beheld J.K. Simmons’ incredible performance in Whiplash.

Make note that Hawke was nominated for his first Oscar in the Best Supporting Actor category for Antoine Fuqua’s Training Day; however, Jim Broadbent won the honor for his role in Iris.
As nobody enjoys losing, Hawke may have needed some guidance, which he eventually received from Denzel Washington, who gave him some encouraging words after this Oscar loss. The former has also received Oscar nominations for a couple of other films, including Before Sunset and Before Midnight.

Good news for exhibition as Lionsgate is delivering two big releases this fall: The Dave Bautista action pic The Killer’s Game on Sept. 13 and the Mel Gibson directed Mark Wahlberg movie Flight Risk for Oct. 18. Again, we can’t be without film product in a marketplace that’s starving for volume.
Meanwhile the Gerard Butler sequel Den of Thieves: Pantera will hit cinemas on Jan. 10, 2025; that title arriving to Lionsgate through its eOne acquistion.
The JJ Perry directed The Killer’s Game, based on the book by Jay R. Bonansinga and adapted by Rand Ravich and James Coyne, follows a top hitman, Joe Flood (Bautista) who is diagnosed with a terminal illness. He opts to take matters into his own hands – by taking a hit out on himself. But when the very hitmen he hired also target his ex-girlfriend (Sofia Boutella), he must fend off an army of assassin colleagues and...

Denzel Washington is undoubtedly one of the greatest actors who has graced the silver screen with many acclaimed performances to his credit. The actor has played heroic characters for most of his career in impressive films such as Mo’ Better Blues, Philadelphia, Courage Under Fire, and Glory winning an Oscar for the latter.
Denzel Washington as Easy Rawlins in Devil in a Blue Dress
His second Oscar win for Best Actor came with his antagonistic turn as Alonzo in Antoine Fuqua’s Training Day. Washington had never played a sleazy and morally complicated character like Alonzo before. However, he was vying to play one much before that film and one such antagonistic performance that he was envious of was of Don Cheadle in Devil in a Blue Dress.

Actor Denzel Washington has played several characters that he’s proud of. But not even Washington always gets the roles he’d prefer. When he did this film with Don Cheadle, he found himself a bit jealous that Cheadle snagged the much meatier part.

Nowadays, it’s no surprise to see Washington as a bad guy. Audiences first saw the actor break away from playing the hero all the time in Training Day. Portraying a full-on villain for once was exciting for Washington, who’d been clamoring to play a bad guy for years.
He first time entertained being a villain in the film Devil in a Blue Dress. The movie saw Washington playing the retired war veteran Easy Rawlins who investigates the disappearance of a missing woman.

All the Yellowstone fans are waiting now until the last part of the final season of today’s most popular western series is finally out. There have been so many speculations on whatever is going to happen to the series regulars and what fate will face the infamous ranch.
For example, fans have been predicting the fall of the Dutton family headmaster, not only because it seems like a right thing to go with, but also because we know Kevin Costner will not be the part of the last episodes.
But rumor has it that Beth Dutton will be there, portrayed still by Kelly Reilly. The actress has been playing the part of Beth since the show premiered in 2018 and since then became the only character that awakens all sorts of emotions in fans, being this unstable master manipulator slash still lovable girlboss.

Idris Elba is a multifaceted personality who has dabbled in acting, music, and kickboxing. Elba is primarily known for his onscreen charisma but his kickboxing skills often go under the radar. The 2018 People Magazine’s Sexist Man Alive hasn’t had a prominent professional boxing career but his skills were enough to catch the eye of podcaster Joe Rogan.
Idris Elba was named People Magazine’s Sexist Man Alive in 2018.
During an episode of his podcast, Rogan spoke very highly of Elba’s kickboxing prowess and also detailed the grueling training the actor underwent to learn martial arts. As a result, it is safe to say that Elba has some serious kickboxing skills. Here is what Joe Rogan had to say about Idris Elba’s kickboxing prowess, which is certainly no joke.

Wisin & Yandel’s first album, Los Reyes del Nuevo Milenio, came out in 2000. For millennial hip-hop heads, that was the year Outkast’s Stankonia and Ghostface Killah’s Supreme Clientele dropped. The 19-year-old regularly shares updates about her health, as she’s battled brain cancer and gone through recovery following last October’s diagnosis of medulloblastoma.
Earlier this year, Isabella revealed the diagnosis on Good Morning America while sitting alongside her dad for Robin Roberts’ interview.
It was an emotional TV moment for everyone. Strahan occasionally shares updates during GMA which show clips from his daughter’s YouTube vlog.
According to Isabella’s YouTube channel, all proceeds from the vlog go to The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke.
She’s occasionally active on other social media, including TikTok, where she addressed fan concerns earlier this week after an absence from social media.

Voice actors always have an important role to play in animated media franchises. Their job is to express the emotions that their characters are feeling only with their voices and it requires an incredible amount of skill and perfection to be able to do it consistently.

The saga began in June of that year, when the Grammy-winning Colombian superstar announced the end of her 11-year romance with the Catalan soccer player, and father of her two children, Gerard Piqué. Despite taking a civil tone in a press release issued that summer, she came firing back in 2023 with a tabloid-ready diss track, detailing their breakup (and Piqué’s infidelity) in excruciating detail: the electro-pop atomic bomb “Bzrp Music Sessions #53,”recorded...

With all due respect to any other upcoming movies and shows trying to carve out some time and space for themselves this week, good luck competing with the "Alien: Romulus" teaser that dropped earlier today. Like most "Alien" fans, we've been waiting with bated breath to see what horror filmmaker Fede Álvarez would have up his sleeves for this new installment of the classic franchise, and the footage certainly doesn't disappoint. (We would know since we've been watching it on a constant loop ever since.) Not only does the new film seem like a grand return to the 1979 original, but the newest director to the series is also saying all the right things. And for those of us with a soft spot for Ridley Scott's two divisive prequel movies in recent years, well, these new quotes are sure to be music to our ears.

In competitive games, it is rare to find players who would step up to help other players in a given game. But, there are some messiahs who make solving difficult levels easier with their experience and expertise.
FromSoftware’s Elden Ring had one such player by the name ‘Let Me Solo Her.’ Not only did the player achieve some great results, but ‘Let Me Solo Her’ had always been prompt and willing to help other players of the community in their Elden Ring run, before retiring recently.

The good news is that Helldivers 2 has one such messiah too. If Helldivers run into difficulty, they can simply fire an Sos beacon to get some help, thanks to this one savior.

Joe Biden and Donald Trump each clinched their party’s presidential nominations, after their amassed a majority of delegates in Tuesday’s primaries.
Biden crossed the 1,968 delegates needed for the Democratic nomination with his win of the Georgia primary, according to network projections.
Donald Trump passed the 1,215 delegates needed to secure the Republican nomination after he was projected to win the Washington state primary.

Biden faced nominal opposition from Marianne Williamson and Rep. Dean Phillips (D-mn), who have not managed to perform in the double digits in the primary contests so far. After Super Tuesday, Phillips dropped out and endorsed Biden.

With his excellent skill and brilliant talent, Denis Villeneuve might have well created history if he isn’t already in the history books. Poised to have even left behind the likes of other science fiction movies like the Star Wars franchise, his Dune movies are being widely hailed as the best sci-fi tales in the conventional cinema landscape.

Reina Hardesty (The Secret Art of Human Flight) has joined the cast of Prime Video’s Butterfly opposite Daniel Dae Kim.
Hardesty will portray Rebecca, a charismatic, unpredictable assassin. Orphaned (or so she thought) at the age of 13, she learned to cope with her pain and loneliness by distancing herself from difficult emotions, applying a mental tourniquet to the part of her that held love and empathy. Over time, she’s developed a hard shell, which is a very useful trait in her line of work. But Rebecca isn’t a grizzled, stoic hitman. She’s shiny and charming and fun to watch, leaping to life with every hit of adrenaline.
The six-episode series is described as a character-driven spy thriller that explores complex family dynamics within the treacherous world of global espionage. Butterfly is based on the Boom! Studios graphic novel series created by Arash Amel, written by Amel and Marguerite Bennett,...

Actor Denzel Washington has had his fair share of love scenes in his long career. For many female actors, shooting love scenes can be uncomfortable when they have to remove clothing. But one actor insisted to undress for Washington in this action thriller.

In the world of television, first impressions are everything. A great pilot episode is a promise to the audience, telling them what the show is about and how it will go about it, in the hopes that people will be so impressed that they'll tune in every week. If you don't grab them early, you might lose them altogether.
Case in point: If you watch the first episode of Rod Serling's "The Twilight Zone" you'll find that it is one of the most striking TV series debuts in history. The disturbing standalone tale "Where Is Everybody?" stars Earl Holliman ("Police Woman") as a man who finds himself in a town without any people in it. It's completely deserted from top to bottom, or is it? He keeps coming across signs that people were here, and he only just missed them. Trapped in a completely open world, alone in a...

Kenneth Branagh is back for this third — and by TheWrap’s account, best — appearance as Agatha Christie’s detective Hercule Poirot in “A Haunting in Venice.” He also directs the spooky mystery, which boasts a terrific lineup of murder suspects (and potential victims), including Michelle Yeoh, Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan and Kelly Reilly.
Here’s who plays which character in the film based on Christie’s 1969 novel “Hallowe’en Party” — and where you might have seen the less familiar names before.
“A Haunting in Venice” is now streaming on Disney+.

British actor Kenneth Branagh reprises his role as the fussy Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot, whom he previously played in the recent remakes “Murder on the Orient Express” and “Death on the Nile.” The film begins in 1947 with Poirot retired from sleuthing and leading a quiet life in Venice — until he’s dragged into a new case.

Say what you want about 1960s classic rockers, they usually spoke their minds about their contemporaries. Paul Simon called a Paul McCartney song “garbage.” He said the mindset behind the song and a political song from John Lennon offended him. The former track was banned by the BBC for being too controversial.
Paul Simon dismissed a Paul McCartney song that promotes Irish republicanism
One of Wings’ most controversial songs was “Give Ireland Back to the Irish.” It promoted Irish republicanism — the belief that Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland should be one nation with no ties to the British monarchy. During a 1972 interview with Rolling Stone, Simon dismissed the tune. “‘Give Ireland Back to the Irish’ — that’s garbage,” he said. “I don’t say that someone can’t write a social song, or even a song that’s a political song, and have it work, as a song and as a political statement.

Tickets for Lucinda Williams’ tour are currently on sale after the singer released her new album Stories from a Rock n Roll Heart.
This comes three years since Williams suffered a stroke and lost the ability to use the left side of her body. Since then, Williams has been in rehab in an attempt to learn how to relearn how to walk and do other basic functions. Not only did she suffer from a serious medical condition, but in 2020 she also experienced her Nashville home being damaged by a tornado and went through the pandemic.
She announced the album back in April on her Instagram, sharing a sneak peek of her new single “New York Comeback” and officially launched it in June. It was a challenging process for the singer to create the album, as she had to invent a new songwriting procedure due to her being unable to play the guitar anymore.

Based on the suspenseful novel by Zakiya Dalila Harris, Hulu and Onyx Collective’s “The Other Black Girl” tackles the issue of systemic racism in the workplace through a thrilling lens. Produced by Rashida Jones, the show follows Nella Rogers (Sinclair Daniel) as she battles microaggressions and the isolation of being the only Black girl at Wagner Books. That is until the publishing house hires Hazel May McCall (Ashleigh Murray). At first, Nella is overjoyed, but she starts to realize that though they share skin color and culture, the two girls could not be more different.
Author Harris executive produced the show, written by Gus Hickey and Jordan Reddout. Some special guest stars appear here and there throughout the sinister series. Read on to learn who plays whom in Hulu’s “The Other Black Girl”:

The fall movie season is off to a slightly better start than last year, as "The Nun II" scared up a big opening weekend, easily topping the charts. That means Denzel Washington's "The Equalizer 3" had to settle for second place in the battle of the sequels at the box office. Even so, the actor's third go-around as Robert McCall still crossed a new milestone by passing $100 million globally.
Director Antoine Fuqua's "Equalizer 3" earned $12.1 million domestically in its second weekend at the box office, per The Numbers. Unfortunately, that means the sequel dropped a steep 65% in its second frame when compared to its $34.6 million debut last weekend. That said, the film also had the Monday Labor Day holiday under its belt, which might have made it even more front-loaded than it might otherwise have been. So if we were dealing with a standard, three-day first weekend and the movie had a 65% drop,...

The Big Bang Theory has only been off the air for four years thus far, but after 12 seasons it’s hard to imagine the cast as anything other than the beloved characters they played for over a decade. While some actors have chosen to take it easy in the years since Bbt ended, others have gone full-speed ahead into roles that are wildly different from the characters we know them as.
Across film and television, here are the Big Bang Theory cast’s best post-Big Bang roles.
Johnny Galecki – The Conners
Johnny Galecki hasn’t done much since The Big Bang Theory ended, but having a child a few months before a global pandemic changes the world as we know it is as good an excuse as any. However, you can still find him playing David Healy every once in a while in the Roseanne spinoff The Conners. Aside...
