- TriviaThe Doctor learning of The Brigadier's death was a tribute to Nicholas Courtney, who passed away on 22 February 2011. The episode also contains scenes in which "everybody was wearing an eyepatch", a reference to the alternate universe Brigadier in Inferno: Episode 3 (1970). Furthermore, Amy says to The Doctor "We'll be in Cairo soon", Cairo being Courtney's place of birth. Steven Moffat said of the reference, "In a story about The Doctor going to his death, it seemed right and proper to acknowledge one of the greatest losses Doctor Who has endured."
- GoofsWhen The Doctor whisper in River's ear, he clearly says something very short - only two syllables. Later, when it's revealed what he had said, it's a whole sentence with five syllables.
- Quotes
Madame Kovarian: [weakly] Amy... help me.
Amy Pond: You took my baby from me. And hurt her. And now she's all grown up and she's fine, but I'll never see my baby again.
Madame Kovarian: But you'll still save me, though. Because *he* would, and you'd never do anything to disappoint your precious Doctor.
Rory: Ma'am, we have to go, now!
Amy Pond: [to Kovarian] The Doctor is very precious to me, you're right. But do you know what else he is, Madame Kovarian? Not here.
[Amy re-attachs Kovarian's eye drive]
Amy Pond: River Song didn't get it all from you, sweetie.
[eye drive activates and Kovarian screams]

This is possibly the most complex episode there has ever been, a lot is going on, there is too much going on, first time we've had a single episode finale, and it does feel rushed.
I love the tribute paid to Nick Courtney, the eye patches were a nice touch too. In times of trouble the first person the Doctor wanted to turn to, The Brig, Nice.
The elements I loved, the room of skulls left by the headless monks, very dark, almost Indiana Jones. The Silence monsters are fantastic. I love the visions of future Earth, some things are brilliantly realised. I'm all for a femme fatale, and Madame Kovarian is one of the ultimates, if only she was to appear again, great villain.
The main problem is that they tried to cram in too much into a single episode, there are parts of it that simply don't make any sense of any kind, why did Amy not know Rory, was River actually married? Did we actually believe the Doctor would die?
Series 6 has been extremely hit and miss, i've either totally loved - God Complex, girl who waited, or really loathed - The Almost People, Let's kill Hitler. Possibly the most patchy season so far, and it ended on a bit of a flat note.
Full of holes, asks more questions then it answers, bit of a mess, but some good elements. Possibly least epic finale to date. 6/10
