"He can see things before they happen," Qui-Gon Jinn tells Shmi Skywalker about her son Anakin in "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace." He explains to her that if he had been born in the Republic, he'd have been identified early and trained as a Jedi. Then, curiously, he asks her who the boy's father was.
"There was no father," Anakin's mother tells the venerable Jedi. "I carried him. I gave birth. I can't explain what happened."
Qui-Gon explains later that this is a vergence in the Force and that Anakin (whose age was a struggle for George Lucas to decide) was conceived of the midi-chlorians themselves; the building blocks of life and a pathway through which living things can hear the will of the Force. This virgin birth took audiences by surprise, but it...

There will be spoilers for the third episode of "Star Wars: The Acolyte," so beware.
The third episode of "Star Wars: The Acolyte" transports us back in time 16 years to the days leading up to the tragedy that allowed Osha (played as an adult by Amandla Stenberg and as a child by Lauren & Leah Brady) to be taken by the Jedi and to assume her sister, Mae (played by the aforementioned acting trio) was dead. In the last episode, we watched Master Torbin die by suicide with the poison offered to him by Mae, rather than face the pain of living with the consequences of what happened that night sixteen prior. This episode shows us, from at least one point of view, what happened during that fateful encounter, but it also introduces us to the family of Mae and Osha.

The vast galactic story of Star Wars begins with Episode I: The Phantom Menace – a relatively tame chapter in the extraordinary mythology of George Lucas. By the time The Clone Wars enters the picture, a monumental shift can be recognized within each character who has already begun to be molded toward their destinies. Among them lies a fleeting but unforgettable arc of Darth Maul.

But an event that was a blip in the grand scheme of things was the point of origin for Darth Maul, a character whose impressive skills as a fighter equipped with an iconic double-bladed lightsaber awed and terrified the audience.

Darth Maul was one of the greatest additions of the Prequel series to the Star Wars canon, becoming one of the most beloved Sith characters of the Skywalker saga behind Darth Vader and right above Asajj Ventress. A lot of thought went into the role of Maul, who was killed off in the film, but had one of the greatest arcs in Star Wars history through his appearances in The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.

Nick Gillard, the stunt coordinator for the Prequel trilogy, revealed what was the original casting for Maul, and why it was changed. Maul had a very strong impact on audiences in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, and a huge part of it was Ray Park’s performance.

In recent years, the number of series set in a galaxy far, far away has increased dramatically. The variety of genres, forms and topics is amazing: every viewer, not only fans of the series, can find something to their taste.
On the occasion of the release of The Acolyte, which has already received negative reviews from fans, we have chosen ten of the best projects that you can watch instead of the new series.
1. Star Wars: Visions, 2021-2023
The first non-canon series released after Disney bought Lucasfilm, Visions is The Animatrix of the Star Wars universe, an anthology of 18 shorts divided into two seasons. Each episode is done in a unique style and tells its own little story.
The producers gave the writers maximum creative freedom. As a result, Visions offers a completely different take on traditional Star Wars, and it looks great. The authors clearly prove that canonicity does...

Mark Andrews, director of Pixar’s Academy Award winning animated feature “Brave” and a writer on Genndy Tartakovsky’s “Primal” and “Samurai Jack,” is attached as the showrunner of animated series “Kyōryū,” about samurai dinosaurs living in a postapocalyptic Japan.
In development at Wellington, New Zealand-based Floating Rock, an animation and VFX studio, “Kyōryū” is set in Japan in a future where dinosaurs have outlasted humanity. Genetically engineered, they are far more intelligent than their pre-historic ancestors. That said, atavistic instincts can flare, making for tribal wars.
Unveiled last September, the “Kyōryū” proof-of-concept trailer went viral, with 1 million views in its first 10 days of release, now 2.1 million views to date on YouTube, and an estimated reach of over a million.
The trailer also attracted Andrews. “‘Dinosaurs in postapocalyptic Japan?’ I want to see that show without even knowing what the story’s about! We’re going to give the audience...

Osha, played in "Star Wars: The Acolyte" by Amandla Stenberg, has a really bad day in the show's premiere episode. First, she's forced to face an explosion while making repairs on the outside of a Trade Federation ship, and then she's accused of a murder she claims she didn't commit and arrested by her old friend from the Jedi Order who is a now a humorless, no-nonsense Jedi Knight who doesn't seem at all pleased to see her.
Next, she's shipped back to Coruscant aboard a Republic prison ship operated by droids. And that's just the start of her bad time. Spoilers for "Star Wars: The Acolyte" Parts 1 and 2 follow.
"I do not believe the Sith could have returned without us knowing," Mace Windu told Qui-Gon Jinn during the events of "The Phantom Menace." "The Sith have been extinct for a millennium," Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi added.
As we all know that a millennium lasts a thousand years, it seemed unlikely that the Sith would be involved with "Star Wars: The Acolyte." Most of us assumed the Jedi would have had no interaction whatsoever with the secret line of Sith that led to Darth Sidious and his destruction of the Jedi until Darth Maul revealed himself to Qui-Gon on Tatooine.
But "The Acolyte" seems as though it could upend everything we knew about the involvement of the Sith and their quest against the Jedi in the time period the show takes place in, 100 years prior to the events of "The Phantom Menace.

If there is anyone that is synonymous with Star Wars apart from George Lucas, it is Mark Hamill. The actor brought Luke Skywalker to life in the franchise, a character that served as his breakout role in the industry and how. Apart from the iconic role, Mark Hamill also voiced a character in Star Wars: The Clone Wars – Darth Bane.

The actor had a cameo role in the sixth season of the series and was only seen in the last episode titled Sacrifice. Sam Witwer’s journey into the Star Wars universe began with his portrayal of Starkiller. Starkiller was the secret apprentice of Darth Vader in the 2008 video game “Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.” His deep-rooted passion and knowledge of the franchise significantly contributed to his successful audition.
A self-proclaimed Star Wars geek, Witwer’s knowledge of the franchise is more than just trivia—it’s an intrinsic part of who he is. His performances as Starkiller, Darth Maul, and the Son of Mortis have left lasting impressions on fans and the franchise alike.

During his audition for Starkiller, Witwer was given a scene where the character meditates and assembles his lightsaber using the Force. Instead of portraying a serene meditation, Witwer opted for a more intense approach, emphasizing Starkiller’s struggle and aggression.

2007 saw Michael Bay helming the first of many Transformers features for the big screen, which led to Hasbro prioritizing their big-screen releases over animations. However, Bay’s big-budget blockbuster wasn’t the lone Transformers release of the year, as it also saw the debut of one of the most beloved Transformers animated shows, Transformers: Animated.
But despite its critical success, Cartoon Network eventually pulled off the plugs from the show after three seasons, and it had to do with the success of shows like The Clone Wars and Alien Force.

Actor John Boyega starred in three of the extant 16 "Star Wars" movies*, playing the rogue-Stormtrooper-turned-good guy Finn in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" (2015), "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" (2017), and "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" (2019). Boyega liked playing Finn, but has gone on record (notably in a 2020 GQ interview) about his disappointment with how the series treated his character; Finn was set up to be a leading man, and was sidelined for what appeared to be racism-based reasons. Boyega was also off-put by Disney's habit of micromanaging "Star Wars," feeling that every one of the franchise's actors ran the risk of being roped into "Star Wars" projects exclusively. "You ain't going to Disney+ me," he once laughingly said to Variety.
There hasn't been a "Star Wars" movie since 2019, as Disney+ kind of killed their Goose that Laid the Golden Eggs. The theatrical market was oversaturated, audiences didn't respond terribly well...

Committed to long-interconnected franchises can sometimes be a chore for the viewers, especially when something is as big as the MCU. It also doesn’t help when newcomers are required to know about the entries that came before to enjoy a new show or movie. One major example is Madness of Multiverse, as fans, who weren’t familiar with the Wanda Vision beforehand, had a hard time piecing it all together in the sequel to 2016’s Doctor Strange.
But Star Wars did combat this issue with Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka, as the showrunners succeeded in making it more accessible to fans, who had no knowledge about her history.

However, when the character first appeared, George Lucas had the burden of making the character scary and feel like a threat,...

Actor Ray Park debuted as the menacing Sith apprentice Darth Maul in the first installment of the Star Wars prequel trilogy. However, Maul meets his untimely demise at the hands of Obi-Wan Kenobi at the end of The Phantom Menace. Given Maul’s interesting look and brief screen time, fans have clamored to see more of the character in the films.
Ray Park originated the role of Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace.
During an interview, Park admitted to being eager for a return to the galaxy far, far away. The primary reason for Park’s reinvigorated interest in reprising the role of Darth Maul was due to the new lightsaber design of Kylo Ren, which debuted in The Force Awakens. Here is what Park had to say about Kylo Ren’s lightsaber design and his desire to return to Star Wars.

Ahsoka was a successful Star Wars show that received high viewership and critical acclaim. While the series enjoys a vast family fanbase, there are hardcore fans who believe that it couldn’t live up to the gritty storytelling of Andor. Ahsoka was written and produced as a sequel to the animated series, Star Wars Rebels, which appealed to the family audiences. However, the Diego Luna-led series appealed to a more mature audience.

PlayStation could finally get an official PS2 emulator, and the news couldn’t get any better. After a series of minor mishaps that hinted toward a bigger picture, a new game listing on Ps Deals seemingly confirms what many had suspected for a while.
Hopefully, the upcoming title is just the start of a much larger library of classic PS2-era games.

For many years, PlayStation console users have been begging the company to add emulators for older consoles as, from the PS4 onward, there’s not been any backward compatibility for the PS1, PS2, or PS3.
It seems the company has finally heard players’ cries, as some subtle hints show that PS2 emulation might finally be available on the official Ps store.

Star Wars has been around for the last few decades and the saga spanned across generations and different story-telling formats like gaming. The Clone Wars is the first PS2-era video game to be added to the classics catalog of PlayStation Plus and this is where the fun begins.
The idea of emulating classic games to modern consoles is not uncommon but this version could be the best way to access the video game. The game was released two decades ago, which makes it a worthy first pick for this new phase of video game emulation.

For a while, Jar Jar Binks seemed to be the most hated character in cinema. The backlash against him was something to behold following the release of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace 25 years ago, but attitudes towards the Gungan have softened somewhat as a new generation has embraced the character. While speaking with Inverse, Best revealed that Star Wars creator George Lucas gave him a valuable piece of advice at the height of the Jar Jar backlash.
“I think it’s wonderful the younger generations are embracing not only the prequels, but Jar Jar specifically,” Best said. “This is something that George kind of predicted when all the backlash happened. He was like, ‘Thirty years from now, nobody’s going to be talking about this.’ And it was tough to realize that in the moment, but now here we are, 25 years later, and he was right.“

Ncuti Gatwa is earning rave reviews for his turn as the 15th iteration of the shapeshifting “Doctor Who.” While enough episodes won’t air on Disney+ in time to make him eligible at this year’s Emmys, he could well contend for his featured role in Apple TV+’s acclaimed limited series “Masters of the Air.” He portrays real-life World War II Air Force officer Robert Daniels and is being submitted in Best TV Movie/Limited Series Supporting Actor.
That could put him in competition against Christopher Eccleston, who played the ninth Doctor (the first 21st century version of the character) in 2005. Having won an International Emmy for the British anthology series “Accused” (2011), Eccleston is now seeking a primetime bid for his work as Alaska police captain Ted Connelly on HBO’s “True Detective: Night Country.”

Darth Vader Wasn’t the Only Star Wars Character That Was Inspired by One of the Best Marvel Villains
Apart from real-life events and people, it is no secret that the huge world of fictional characters and stories often ends up being the inspiration behind other fictional worlds and characters. Whether the creators acknowledge it or not, several similarities can be found among different fictional characters from different fantasy worlds.
While the similarities do not diminish the fame and love for the characters, the similarities, whether intentional or not, establish a special connection between them.

And Marvel supervillain Doctor Doom seems to be a popular inspiration as far as George Lucas’ Star Wars mythos is concerned. Apart from being the alleged inspiration behind the iconic Darth Vader, there is another Star Wars character that seems like a rip-off of Doom.

"Star Wars: The Clone Wars" lives up to its title by placing a lot of focus on the clone troopers themselves. Some of the characters, like Commander Cody and Commander Bly, were inherited from the "Star Wars" prequel films. The show used the idea that clones had nicknames (instead of only serial numbers) and ran with it, creating many other clones -- including Captain Rex -- with custom names and armor to convey individuality.
One of the more striking clone looks is Commander Doom, who appears only briefly in the "Clone Wars" season 6 premiere "The Unknown." That name isn't an accident; the "Star Wars" website confirms that the creators named Doom after Marvel Comics villain Doctor Victor Von Doom. While Commander Doom gets too little screen time to see if he has the ego of his namesake, the creators used Doctor Doom's design to color his armor.

In "Star Wars Rebels" we were introduced to a new prototype Tie Fighter that was far superior to the standard Tie Fighter in use by the Imperial fleet. Unlike the common Tie Fighters seen across "Star Wars" media, Tie Defenders had shields and hyperdrives, and they were deadly and far less disposable than the usual fleet. Grand Admiral Thrawn spent time lobbying the Empire to allocate resources to further develop the Tie Defender program and put them in use for battlefield superiority.

George Lucas’ “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” has a clear set-up/pay-off as the reason for its existence: young, innocent child Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd) will grow up to become Darth Vader, a manifestation of evil. The movie’s entire reason for existence is ultimately to introduce us to this child and make us think about how far we are from the fall of the Republic, and how the Empire will arise in only a generation. These were major stakes and not a bad place to get fans excited for the first new “Star Wars” movie in 16 years. And yet when “The Phantom Menace” arrived in theaters in 1999 it was met with either a mix of fans trying to convince themselves it was good (“‘Star Wars’ has always been corny!”) or outright disappointment.
