Over the last couple decades, director Mike Hurst has brought us several genre films – House of the Dead 2, Room 6, The Darkroom, Pumpkinhead 4: Blood Feud, Paradox – and his latest is a self-financed labor of love he has been working on for the last four years. It’s called Transmission, and it has been officially accepted into the Pigeon Shrine FrightFest festival that’s set to be held in London from August 24th through 28th. In anticipation of Transmission‘s FrightFest screening, we’ve gotten our hands on the trailer for the film, and you can check it out in the embed above!
Here’s how Hurst described the film: “Basically the whole movie takes place on a TV screen as we channel-surf late at night, slowly realizing that the different stories on the different channels are actually all connected, all parts of the same horrific story…” As the viewer flips through the channels,...

With only a week or so to go until Halloween, we’re really racing to the end of the 2015 awards season. As such, I think it’s more than prudent to take another look at my Oscar predictions today, something I’ll be doing more and more often going forward. Obviously, a number of X factors make predicting the Academy Awards in October little more than educated guesswork, but that’s how you slowly move towards answers. I’ve got a few big question marks still, but this represents one of my more fact based takes on what the race could ultimately shape up to be like. That’s something, right? What I really tried to focus on this time was nailing down a potentially weak Best Actor race as well as where to put those pesky unseen contenders like The Big Short, Concussion, The Hateful Eight, Joy, The Revenant,...

Time for another busy day of Comic-Con live-blogging. Because the "I'm Just Following Orders and I Have No Immediate Superior You Can Talk To" Comic-Con fascists have placed tight restrictions on computer charging in Ballroom 20, I'm gonna be live-blogging, rather than taking notes at panels and writing later. It's just easier. I've got "Bates Motel" now and then "True Blood," "The Vampire Diaries" and "Arrow" in the late afternoon. But for now? Let's hear about Season 2 for our favorite Mother-Son team of Norma and Norman Bates... 10:01 a.m. We're in Room 6 a for a packed panel. 10:01 p.m....

As you may have guessed, I have a vested interest in A&E's Bates Motel thanks to the show's source material Psycho and that film classic's comely, clearly gay, and unforgettably awkward star Anthony Perkins. For me, that movie was about a cloistered gay dude attempting to overcome his own insecurities, social dysfunction, and maybe a couple of homicidal tendencies too. We've all been there.
Bates Motel, the original series that modernizes Alfred Hitchcock's tale of motel proprietor Norman Bates while exploring his childhood back-story, is not that intriguing, no matter how much of myself I project onto it. Based on the pilot, which debuted on A&E Monday night, it's fair to say the show is determined to establish itself as a spooky campfire tale, not a thrilling psychodrama for the ages. But maybe that's a worthwhile venture too. Well, wait -- was 666 Park Avenue worth it? Never mind.

Did we just witness the induction of a new Warehouse Agent?
I liked that Pete had a good vibe about Deb and that she might be joining the good guys in some capacity. Too many times characters such as this end up fighting against the organization instead of embracing it. Mr. Kosan was pretty smart to consider recruiting her over other choices.
Deb Stanley (Danielle Nicolet) has a spark of curiosity about her that we haven’t seen in an Agent (except maybe Hugo). How cool was it to see her staring out into the warehouse with "Endless Wonder" at all the things she could discover? The balance of her father’s lesson of "do no harm" makes her an ideal candidate for the warehouse.
Speaking of the warehouse, raise your hand if you laughed when the Senator was shown to “Storage Room 6!” I swear most the items in...

Tim Kring’s Touch started off as a mediocre drama that packaged coincidence together with logic and wrapped it up in a tiny little box of autism. However, if you stuck with the drama, which I thankfully did, you were exposed to quite possibly the best feel-good drama of the 2012 TV season. Touch is a series that makes you think that the impossible can happen and that the problems of the world, specifically your own, can be fixed if the right sequence of events fall into the correct ratio. Sure, sometimes the scenarios can be outlandish. Sometimes you may get hit with a story arc that takes place in outer space, but has something to do with the buying and selling of children. Yet, these far-fetched situations seamlessly ground the show in one word – hope. Something we can all use.
Touch heads into its 2-hour finale with several looming questions.

Motels creep me out. Even the nicer ones. You just never know what kind of stuff has gone down in the place you're ready to lay your head for the evening. Take our advice, though... should you run into the No Tell Motel in your travels, stay far away from Room 6.
From Cinema Management Group comes Brett Donowho's No Tell Motel, starring Angel McCord, John Hawkes, Chalie Howes, Andrew MacFarlane, and Chelsey Reist.
The flick is now in post-production. More soon!
Synopsis
Secrets we keep from each other can come back to haunt us: No Tell Motel is a compelling story of isolation, desperation, and the darkest kind of redemption. The old Horak place, an abandoned roadside motel tucked away in the woods just off Route H, is the stuff of local legend. The place where little Angela Horak got run down in the middle of the road.

With so many female-driven films and strong roles at this year's fest, and in the spirit of the opening night film, we'll be profiling some of the most kick-ass females representing at SXSW this week. Next up: Kick-Ass star Chloe Moretz.
At only 13 years old, Chloë Grace Moretz is already shaping up to become the next great geek icon. Sure, you've seen her do the occasional kid's television show, but in between the girl has managed to pick up roles in Wicked Little Things, The Amityville Horror, Room 6 and The Eye. Now, in 2010, she's poised to take the geek world by storm with roles in the comic adaptation Kick Ass, as well as Let Me In, Matt Reeves' remake of Let the Right One In. Needless to say, this ain't your ordinary 13-year old, and while some have called her the anti-Dakota Fanning, I wouldn't label her...

Kevin Greutert is the antithesis of what the Saw franchise reflects. He's humble. Soft spoken. Harmless looking. What this bespectacled fella shares with the series is a knack for keeping secrets. Trying to get a spoiler out of this guy is like trying to get out of a Saw trap rigged by Amanda. It's goddamn impossible. Greutert knows how to play the game. Hell, he's been on the series as editor since the first film, now he's making his feature directorial debut with Saw VI . In between his Saw duties he'd go on to edit The Strangers , Room 6 , The Thirst and Repo! The Genetic Opera . I sat down with Greutert recently for a brief chat about his time in the director's chair. ShockTillYouDrop.com: Was it an easy transition for you moving from editor to...

"After finishing the Saw VI shoot on Wednesday afternoon, I emerged, pale and blinking, into a new world, where the trees had suddenly budded overnight, people were sailing on Lake Ontario in the middle of the week, and I had put my first film production behind me. It was a mighty feeling, and I committed myself to a few days of fucking off and not getting anything done. Between the start of prep on January 8th and the end of shooting on May 13th,...

Kevin Greutert may be best-known as the editor on the Five films in the Saw franchise, along with editing The Strangers, Repo! The Genetic Opera, Room 6, and more. While production has been quiet, and news has been light, Greutert now joins James Wan, Darren Lynn Bousman, and David Hackl in putting his own directorial stamp on the saga with Saw VI.
Over the past month, the director has been quietly blogging away on his official site, largely staying under-the-radar.
This morning, Fango got a tip that new casting announcements and behind-the-scenes photos had arrived on the blog, and indeed that proved to be true.
"Last night Maple Pictures here in Toronto hosted a press junket (my first! yikes, I Hate being filmed…) I was told that I could discuss most of our new Canadian cast members (Peter Outerbridge has of course already been announced), so I think that frees...

You hear that a lot, but what does it mean? I can only speak for myself, and as I flip through old photos trying to de-clutter my life I found some gems that I wanted to share.
In Tony's touching Elegy in the current issue 282 of Fangoria, he talks about that first meeting between he and I in 1989 at the Fangoria's Weekend Of Horrors in Detroit (my first con) where we took that infamous photo. I almost shared that pic today but I know Tony doesn't like his 80's shirt and frankly, I am making a dumb expression. :) As you can see below, my shirt isn't much better as my hero Kane Hodder mock strangles me as I gleefully wear my very first self sculpted and applied makeup. On Fangoria Radio recently, Saw V director David Hackl revealed that the latest sequel—which he promised will be the bloodiest of the bunch—has secured its R rating from the Motion Picture Association of America. Of the Saw V ruling, the MPAA edict states: “Rated R for sequences of grisly bloody violence and torture, language and brief nudity.”
“We took Saw V to the MPAA three times,” Hackl told us, “and we eventually got our R. But they were really cool about it. They are getting into the Saw films. We were surprised how far they let us go with it.”
The series’ former production designer will vacate the director’s chair for next October’s inevitable Saw VI, to be helmed instead by the franchise’s longtime editor Kevin Greutert (who also cut The Strangers, The Thirst, Room 6 and Repo! The Genetic Opera) from a script by...
