How I Met Your Mother wrapped its run a decade ago, but its humor remains as crisp and timeless as one of Barney’s Italian suits. As the show returns to Netflix, we have a Slapsgiving gift for you: We caught up with executive producer and co-creator Craig Thomas to revisit his favorite episodes; reflect on the moments that best represent the sitcom; and update us on the Paul Shaffer–obsessed pride of Vancouver, Robin Sparkles.
What episode (aside from the pilot!) should viewers start with?
Ooh, fun thought exercise! Ok, if somebody were going to start How I Met Your Mother with an episode besides the pilot, another later Season 1 episode, “The Pineapple Incident,” is a solid entry point. It’s a fun mystery episode where the whole gang tries to figure out, piece by piece, in flashbacks, what the hell a very drunk Ted (Josh Radnor) got himself...

Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye is a beloved character in the MCU. His last live-action appearance was in the ‘Hawkeye’ show, though he recently voiced a character in ‘What If…?’ Season 2 Episode ‘What If…Happy Hogan Saved Christmas.’
Disney+ shows typically don’t get a second season, except for ‘Loki,’ which had a successful second season. Now it appears that another MCU show, ‘Hawkeye,’ will be getting a second season as well.
Keep in mind that there’s no official confirmation for the show yet, only rumors from industry insiders. MyTimeToShineHello has returned with more details about the show’s timeline and potential characters.
According to the leaker, the new season will also be set during Christmas, similar to the first season. Clint’s brother, Barney, will play a major role, and the season will draw inspiration from The Raid, with Kate and Clint trapped in a single location. Reportedly, the...

In WandaVision, Wanda Maximoff finally became the Scarlet Witch. However, her evolution ended on a tragic note when she was forced to drop the Hex around Westview and bid farewell to The Vision and her children, Tommy and Billy.
When we caught up with Wanda in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the Darkhold had corrupted the Avenger and she went on a rampage through realities to find Variants of her twin boys.
Verging on being a full-blown villain by the time all was said and done, Wanda eventually saw the error of her ways and appeared to bury herself beneath Wundagore. However, that was only after she'd used her powers to destroy every possible copy of the Darkhold in the Multiverse.
It's widely believed that Wanda found a way to survive and there's been chatter online about a Scarlet Witch movie for several months.

We're back with another MCU rumour roundup and, should these prove correct, the franchise's uncertain future may have come into focus.
Earlier this month, we shared the news that Hawkeye season 2 may be moving forward, with a story inspired by The Raid. In that, Clint Barton and Kate Bishop will reportedly square off with the Avenger's villainous brother, Barney (a.k.a. Trickshot).
Now, Murphy's Multiverse's has chimed in to reveal that "a second season of Hawkeye does indeed seem to be in development and could end up on Disney Plus much sooner than expected."
With the action set in one location, it's possible Marvel Studios can shoot this pretty quickly, with the show presumably eyeing a 2026 release if this report is anything to go by.
Elsewhere in the site's own rumour roundup, they reiterate plans for Robert Downey Jr. to return as Iron Man in the Multiverse Saga.

Airing from 2005 to 2014 on CBS, How I Met Your Mother became one of the cultish sitcoms in TV history. It introduced us to five friends, Ted, Barney, Robin, Marshall and Lily, and it was the first one who was looking for love throughout the whole show.
While Neil Patrick Harris and Cobie Smulders, who portrayed Barney and Robin, are staying in the public eye, the Ted Mosby actor, Josh Radnor, is rarely seen on the big screen after 2014. Luckily, there are still some titles starring him we need to check out.
The years after Himym concluded Radnor scored one of the main roles in the period drama Mercy Street (2016 - 2017). Later he was employed as the lead of NBC’s Rise (2018), a musical drama about a teacher on his complicated journey to inspire his students to the art of theater.

Grab your quiver of trick arrows and prep a boxed Macaroni and Cheese pot because Kate Bishop and Clint Barton could return for Hawkeye Season 2. A target with a rumor at its bullseye is making the rounds today, with whispers of Marvel developing a follow-up to 2021’s Hawkeye series on Disney+. The rumor comes from industry scooper @MyTimeToShineH, who says Marvel plans to put Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop and Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton at the center of an outrageous plot with The Raid-like elements.

Alongside the sharp direction from Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, Moon Knight stands out as one of the stronger MCU Disney+ shows. Depicting versatile actor Oscar Isaac in a fascinating dual-personality role juggling between two worlds of Marc Spector and Steven Grant, this series pulled the viewer’s heartstrings in six episodes. However, this compelling adventure has not been continued despite its massive success and eight Emmy nominations.
Oscar Isaac plays a man who suffers from Did in Moon Knight
But fans who have grown attached to the Khonshu avatar are not willing to let go just yet. They are fervently calling for the renewal of the show, especially after witnessing Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye getting renewed for another season. It seems Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios may need to reconsider his decision regarding the show after seeing this.

Hawkeye feels like Marvel Studios' most underrated TV show in many ways. While not every subplot hit the mark (Swordsman's peculiar role in the finale felt like a last-minute change), Hailee Steinfeld and Florence Pugh stole the show as Kate Bishop and Yelena Belova, and Vincent D'Onofrio made his surprise MCU return as The Kingpin.
Oh, and we were blessed with Rogers: The Musical, of course!
There's been no word on a second season, though Jeremy Renner's life-threatening snow plow accident and last year's WGA/SAG AFTRA strikes will have done little to help matters.
Steinfeld made a surprise appearance in The Marvels where she was recruited by Ms. Marvel to what many believe will be the McU's take on the Young Avengers. However, if scooper @MyTimeToShineH is to be believed, the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse star will suit up as Kate again in Hawkeye season 2.

Jeremy Renner’s portrayal of Hawkeye has garnered a significant fan following within the MCU. While his last live-action appearance was in the ‘Hawkeye’ series, he recently lent his voice to ‘What If…?’ Season 2 Episode ‘What If…Happy Hogan Saved Christmas.’
Typically, Disney+ shows don’t receive second seasons, except for ‘Loki,’ which saw its second season surpass the first. However, it appears that another MCU show will join the ranks of those receiving a second season: ‘Hawkeye.’
Reportedly, ‘Hawkeye’ is set to return for a second season, with Clint’s brother, Barney, poised to play a pivotal role. Drawing inspiration from The Raid, the season will confine Kate and Clint to a single location.

Jeremy Renner’s debut as Hawkeye in the MCU timeline began when he first appeared as Clint Barton in a brief role in 2011’s Thor. Thereafter, becoming a member of the Avengers, Hawkeye appeared in a bunch of Marvel movies. Remaining one of the three original Avengers in the MCU after Endgame, besides Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, Renner went on to lead his own MCU project as Clint Barton.

Neil Patrick Harris initially gained recognition for starring in Doogie Howser, M.D., a role that defined much of his early career. It wasn’t until the 2004 buddy comedy film Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle that he managed to break free from the character. The film features the actor portraying a fictionalized version of himself.

There are some things in the world that you can watch endlessly, and seeing your favorite TV characters finally come together is one of them. We've seen hundreds of love stories on screen, like in How I Met Your Mother, but in this case, Ted Mosby's meeting the mother of his children wasn't the most interesting storyline on the show.
Barney's relationship with Robin developed over the course of the whole series and received much more attention. The unexpected romance was perceived by the couple as entertainment rather than something serious.
Throughout the show, Barney and Robin's feelings for each other wax and wane. Their wedding became a real highlight of the show, although the marriage did not last long. Apparently, even sitcom characters are not guaranteed the "happily ever after."

Director Brian Levant reveals in a new interview that John Goodman did not want to reprise his role of Fred Flintstone in a sequel to the 1994 film, The Flintstones.
In an interview with Total Film, Levant said Goodman went so far as to go to film producer Steven Spielberg, begging for a way out. Goodman starred as Fred alongside Rick Moranis, Elizabeth Perkins, Rosie O’Donnell, Kyle MacLachlan, and Halle Berry in the live action film of the modern Stone Age family.
After having a rough experience throughout filming, Goodman spoke with Spielberg, asking to escape the production of a sequel that was being discussed.

Groundskeeper Willie, the aggressively Scottish handyman who works for Springfield Elementary School on "The Simpsons," first appeared in the episode "Principal Charming", the one where Principal Skinner (Harry Shearer) attempted to seduce and marry Aunt Patty (Julie Kavner). Skinner and Patty bond over their mutual grumpiness, as he is a stern taskmaster with his students and she is a general misanthrope. Groundskeeper Willie doesn't play a major part in the story, except when Bart (Nancy Cartwright) breaks into his supply shed to steal grass killer. Skinner will pull a similar prank later in the episode. Willie has two lines in the episode: "You'll be back" and "I told you you'd be back."
Groundskeeper Willie (Dan Castellaneta) went on to appear in at least 53 additional episodes of the series, a number that will only continue to grow. He has been greased up by Lunchlady Doris (Doris Grau), fallen in love with his tractor,...

Long before the superheroes of Marvel and DC became cult icons with fans, the 80s were all about another hero, He-Man. The animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe based on Mattel’s popular toy line, ran for 2 seasons with 65 episodes each between 1983 and 1985 and went on to become one of the most successful shows on television.

Watch just about any media from the mid-20th century and you'll quickly notice something: people smoked a lot more onscreen back then -- like, a lot more. Those born in the current century would no doubt be shocked to learn that even beloved cartoon icons like Donald Duck would light up a pipe or puff away on a stogie when the occasion merited (and that's to say nothing of commercials like the jaw-dropping marketing campaign where Fred Flinstone gets his buddy Barney and his wife Wilma hooked on Winston cigarettes).
Smoking was a useful visual shorthand for a variety of things. When Cruella De Vil spewed a wreath of putrid yellow smoke from her infamous cigarette holder in Disney's animated "101 Dalmatians," you just knew she was trouble, even before dog-napping entered the equation. Alternatively, when Cary Grant carefully lit Eva Marie Saint's cigarette in perhaps the ultimate Alfred Hitchcock picture,...

"The Simpsons," now in its 500th season (okay, it's actually in season 35, but who's counting?) recently made headlines by killing off a character who has been with the show since the beginning. It's not the first time the classic animated sitcom has bumped off a character — Maude Flanders famously died, as did Bart's teacher Mrs. Krabappel, and both instances left poor Ned Flanders a widower. Bleeding Gums Murphy's death sent Lisa Simpson into depression. Dr. Marvin Monroe was said to have died, only to then return. Then, of course, there's the unfortunate Frank Grimes, who died after grabbing some electrical wiring in one of the show's most infamous (and best) episodes. In short, death is nothing new to Springfield — especially when you consider how long "The Simpsons" has been on the air. The characters may not exactly age, but time marches on.
However, this recent character death seems to be getting to people.

Will Hanna and Joe Barbera might be credited for popularizing a form of animation that allowed it to be produced at a tremendously rapid clip. Looking at the producing pair's early works like "The Huckleberry Hound Show" and "The Quick Draw McGraw Show," one can see "limited animation" at work. That is: characters were designed in such a way that only parts of them would need to be animated to complete a scene. Faces were conceived at three-quarters, letting characters look to the side or full front depending only on their eyes. Necks were covered by ascots or ties, allowing heads to be animated while bodies remained static.
Because of this design, Hanna-Barbera could produce multiple animated series on a notoriously fast TV production schedule. Hanna-Barbera exploded in the late 1950s, and dominated Saturday morning through the early 1980s.
The crown jewel in their output was, of course, "The Flintstones,...

Do you like the Stonecutters song? How about "See My Vest"? Were you impressed when Bart Simpson and Michael Jackson sang a birthday song to Lisa? How do you feel about the celebrity-laced barn-burner "We're Sending Out Love Down the Well"? Do you like the stage musicals of "Checking In," or "Stop the Planet of the Apes! I Want to Get Off!"? I'm personally fond of the song about Spirngfield's brothel, "Spring in Springfield," a throwback to bawdy farces of the 1930s. And who could forget when Lyle Lanley led the entire town in a musical number about a monorail? Or when Homer, Apu, Seymour Skinner, and Barney formed a barbershop quartet to perform "Baby on Board"?
Point being "The Simpsons" has featured many, many original songs in its 850-year tenure on television, and that doesn't even count the hit record "The Simpsons Sing the Blues" from 1990. Many of the...

For Henry Hill, the appeal of becoming a mobster is simple. “They weren’t like anybody else. They did whatever they wanted,” he explains in the famous monologue at the start of Goodfellas. “They parked in front of hydrants and never got a ticket. When they played cards all night nobody ever called the cops.”
Hank might also add to the list that they get the best deals at the grocery store, something that happens to wiseguy Vinnie Antonelli in the comedy My Blue Heaven. Noticing an unattended pricing gun, Vinnie gives himself a huge markdown on a bunch of steaks. When the cashier totals the haul at less than $20, he’s too impressed with the $100 bill Vinnie handed him to call foul. Even the manager only stops Vinnie to give the former mobster a comment card, saying nothing of the steal of a deal that just occurred.

Barney Fife, the Overzealous Deputy Let’s kick things off with Barney Fife’s debut in ‘The Andy Griffith Show’ Season 1, Episode 2, where he set the bar for law enforcement… if that bar was for high-jumping over the lines of duty. Remember Gomer Pyle, played by Jim Nabors? Well, after getting a ticket from Barney for an illegal U-turn, Gomer decides to turn the tables. He makes a citizen’s arrest when Barney pulls the same stunt. Oh, Barney, always teaching us that sometimes a little power comes with a big head and even bigger comedic fallout. Strange pairings in TV Sitcoms are nothing new. Series like The Honeymooners would have the sort of violent buddy’s of Ralph and Ed, The Flintstones would have Barney and Fred, and of course The Odd Couple would have Oscar and Felix.
But in 1986 a new duo would be added to this list and Friday night TV viewing would never be the same. Cousin Larry and Balki would become a hit power couple for viewers who would fall in love with the quirky pair and their misadventures trying to make it in Chicago.
The series would become a favorite for a number of fans not only in the states but eventually around the world and would spawn a spin off that would become just as big a hit for ABC.

“Barbie” is a cultural phenomenon, grossing nearly $1.5 billion and racking up eight Oscar nominations, all while launching scores of catchphrases and memes.
So it’s understandable that Mattel, the company behind the iconic doll, is looking to capitalize on its cinematic success by developing dozens of movies based on its games and toys. Moviegoers can look forward to Barney, Bob the Builder and He-Man hitting the big screen in the not-so-distant future.
But as Hollywood raids toy store shelves to feed its insatiable hunger for IP, it’s worth noting that when it comes to this type of film, for every “Barbie”-sized smash there’s a “Battleship”-like bomb. With that in mind, here are some of the movies that Mattel has in the works.

Barney the Dinosaur has returned! After almost 15 years, the titular Barney & Friends mascot delivers his first one-on-one conversation with viewers since the last episode of the series aired in 2010. In true Barney fashion, he’s come to check on his friends and tell viewers he loves us. “Hi Friends! It’s me, Barney! I haven’t seen some of you in a long time, but I always make sure to check in on my friends,” the purple dinosaur began. “And it seems like, maybe, we could all use a little reminder right now. A reminder of the super-dee-duper ability we all have to love one another. And how important it is to show love towards yourself too.” He then centers his message on self-care. “After a long day on the playground of life I want you to know, you are seen, you are special, you are loved.” He then wraps up his heartfelt speech,...

After the Barbie Oscar snubs for Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig, Mattel has been getting negative reviews from activist investor Barington Capital.
Barbie may have earned a $1.4 billion dollars at the worldwide box office. But Barington in a recent letter to Mattel advised the toy maker to fix or sell off its American Girl and Fisher-Price brands as part of possible strategic alternatives to raise its share price.
“Mattel’s Fisher-Price and American Girl segments have witnessed dramatic and consistent revenue declines over a multi-year period,” the activist investor wrote to the toy maker. After unveiling his company’s fourth quarter results, Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz told media analysts the Fischer-Price and American Girl properties remained valuable toy brands that the company would continue to invest in.

Gladiators came back with a bang to British TV screens on Saturday, making light work of ITV’s The Masked Singer.
In the latest line of UK TV reboots, the series in which members of the public take on the gladiators in challenges was watched by more than 6M viewers with a 38% share, comfortably becoming the BBC’s most-watched new show of the year and topping the weekend ratings chart.
Helmed by Bradley Walsh and son Barney, the hour-long show that aired from 5.50 p.m. GMT (9.50 a.m. Pt) peaked with 6.3M and comfortably beat ITV’s The Masked Singer, which is now into its fifth season and was watched by 3.7M from 7 p.m. GMT.
The rating would have been particularly frustrating for ITV as Gladiators aired on that channel for eight years and 13 seasons in the 1990s, making icons of its gladiators. It was briefly restarted by Sky One...

Nicolas Cage is ready to show audiences he’s no Barney when it comes to joining the Dawn patrol for some heavy waves in The Surfer, a psychological thriller from Vivarium director Lorcan Finnegan. The project recently wrapped production in Western Australia, with Cage taking the lead as “a man who returns to Australia to buy back his family home after many years in the U.S. but is humiliated in front of his teenage son by a group of local surfers who claim ownership over the secluded beach of his childhood. Wounded, he defies them and remains at the beach, demanding acceptance. As the conflict escalates, he is brought to the edge of his sanity, and his identity is thrown into question.” (via Deadline)

It wasn’t a Barney level of puncture, but the One Piece balloon at today’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade suffered a flesh wound when its hat caught on a tree.
Onlookers gasped when the manga character hit a snag, but the giant Monkey D Luffy balloon, which was making its parade debut, was able to carry on despite the rim of his straw hat becoming deflated after being puncture by the collision with the tree.
The videos below show the moment of impact and the balloon soldiering on to complete the parade.

“We made something unfilmable, basically,” Ghosts co-creator Larry Rickard told the Rhlstp Podcast about the show’s unaired pilot. “Then we looked at it and said ‘that doesn’t work.’”
According to the Ghosts team, several things didn’t work about the mini-pilot, which was never intended for broadcast but as a way for them to figure out the show before making series one. Speaking to Den of Geek in October this year, Rickard explained:
“It was based on the pilot script that Mat [Baynton] and Jim [Howick] did, so basically episode one. It wasn’t the case of making an episode and then going, actually that doesn’t work, let’s start again. We were doing a taster, so we shot 12 minutes of material and then edited it together with voiceovers to fill in the missing bits of story so you could sort of watch it in a sequence and understand...

Deep Fear, not to be confused with last year’s film about monsters under the streets of Paris (which is probably why they added the “Sharks vs Narcs” subtitle to the film for its digital release), is a call back to the shark films of the past. Not to Jaws or its imitators but to something earlier, like Shark!, Shark’s Treasure, and The Deep where the sharks were a secondary plot element, an added threat for the protagonists to face in addition to other humans.
In the case of Deep Fear that would be Naomi whom we first see showing her co-worker Barney how easily a reef shark can be steered away from people. When she surfaces her partner Jackson that he’s booked another tour.

It’s been 10 years since Steven Universe unlocked his Gem ability to summon a shield as he savored the last of his beloved, now-discontinued frozen treat Cookie Cat.
What Rebecca Sugar initially introduced as a brightly colored animated series about a 13-year-old half-Gem, half-human boy raised by his three extraterrestrial guardians, soon became so much more. In its five-season run on Cartoon Network, “Steven Universe” navigated such themes as same-sex relationships, genocide, consent, grief and Ptsd — a groundbreaking feat for a series with a target demographic of six to 11-year-old boys.
“Everything was very difficult. At the time, that we were exploring Lgbtqia+ characters and storylines — it was really not something that was possible,” Sugar says. “I really do feel that we got to explore everything we’d hoped to, just maybe not in the exact order originally intended.”

Sitcoms are those delightful half-hour slices of laughter that become a go-to escape for many after a long, tiring day. The Expendables 4 or Expend4bles is an interesting monster. It’s a huge money loser, with the film’s overall gross only $1 million more than the third film, which was a flop, made on it’s opening weekend. Despite producer Les Weldon teasing an Expendables 5 when we interviewed him, this seems to be the end of the road for the franchise. The previous entry, The Expendables III, faced backlash from fans when the movie made two faux pas that went against the series’ intention — it became a watered-down PG-13 entry, and it introduced younger cast members with no ties to the glory days of action films. The inclusion of stars like Mel Gibson and a welcomed return of Wesley Snipes became overshadowed by a large chunk of a “recruiting new team members” subplot. Recruiting younger members even contradicted a plot point in Expendables 2 when Barney felt guilty for getting a...

In October, horror fans like to hunker down and get cozy with their favorite spooky pieces of cinema. Then, as soon as November hits, it's time to start busting out the Christmas movies. But there are a few flicks out there that actually qualify as both Halloween and Christmas movies. "The Nightmare Before Christmas" is one of the best examples that works for the whole family, with slashers like "Black Christmas" and "Silent Night, Deadly Night" working for more mature viewers. But when it comes to a nice gateway movie that perfectly blends holiday cheer, mischievous monsters, and dark comedy, you can't do any better than "Gremlins."

When you think of Barney, the first thoughts likely come into your mind are: a fun-loving, educational, purple monster that was a staple for most kids growing up. So when a feature-length film chronicling the popular character was announced, many figured that it was likely a cash cow designed to market toward the new generation (Barney ended in 2009). Then Daniel Kaluuya was confirmed as a name attached to the project. Suddenly, the film became more interesting once the Oscar winner’s name was confirmed. However, more details have been announced about the upcoming Barney film and it appears that it...

*Adopts old-timey prospector voice* Back in my day, we got to believe all sorts of fun nonsense. A friend of a friend would claim to have seen Bigfoot at a Sears. A friend of a friend of a friend would report the existence of a ghost train. A friend of a friend of a friend, twice removed, would send a chain email convinced that if they didn’t their soul would be harvested by a demon. We called this phenomena “urban legends” – silly little folkloric tales that made the world a touch more whimsical.
And then the World Wide Web came along with its “fact-checkers,” “journalists,” and “people who have a base level grasp of reality” to tear it all away. We used to have it so good before the internet, I swear to God. Pull the plug already.

Expendables 4 (known as “Expend4bles“) has a $100 million budget but as you start watching the film you begin to realize that the movie has a predictable story, action that looks fake, CGI that is bad and actors who are just going through the motions of making a film and collecting a paycheck.
