Last year a special young boy proved that with one single touch he could send ripple-effects throughout the universe and bring about miraculous achievements. For being at that right place at the right time set off a chain-reaction of events across the globe to bring about a greater good. Watching such a young boy, who seemed unable to speak, yet who own presence could affect such a positive outcome was captivating. Returning for its second season, Touch takes fans and viewers back into the intriguing world of Martin and Jake Bohm. Starring Kiefer Sutherland and David Mazouz, their character’s strong bond of love and struggle to communicate was both joyous and celebratory. In a recent press conference call, executive producers Tim Kring and Carol Barbee shared how the second season expands the Bohms’ world as they try to elude Aster Corp and those who would seek to harness Jake...

2.02: Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Touch is a very unique show. Unique in its storytelling and especially in its overall positive outlook, something made even more apparent when in contrast with the current TV climate of darkness and cynicism. Yes, its theme of interconnectivity (lifted straight from Tim Kring’s previous project, Heroes) is mushy and fluffy, but it really is a welcome change. In its uneven first season, this put many people off but attracted a dedicated few who sang the shows praises.
Whilst I am one of those fans, even I have to admit that come the seasons end, Touch’s tireless dedication to a formula started to verge on ‘wearing thin’. Luckily, as that season was ending, Touch increasinlgy brought an interesting and compelling mythological arc for the forefront, one that it could run with going into its 2nd season.
And run with it it does.

"Touch" has booked Ron Rifkin in a guest-starring role for the show's season 2 finale this spring. Although the actor is perhaps best-known for playing the role of the evil Arvin Sloane in "Alias," Rifkin's role on "Touch" may be a little more positive.
As first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Rifkin will play Isaac, an imposing rabbi who crosses paths with Kiefer Sutherland's Martin Bohm in some assuredly complicated way. Isaac is described as a believer in destiny and is a man clothed in a black suit, a tallit shawl with gold tzitzit of gold, and a gold yarmulke.
Rifkin, who most recently was seen as Marvin Exley in several episodes of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," also co-starred as Saul Holden on "Brothers & Sisters." He is one of several announced guest stars for the upcoming season of "Touch," including D.B. Sweeney, Maria Bello, Lukas Haas and Mykelti Williamson.

Fox has announced that Kiefer Sutherland's Touch will return a week later than planned. The Tim Kring drama's second season was originally intended to debut on October 26 but the premiere was later pushed back to February 1, 2013. Touch will in fact launch its new run on February 8 with a two-hour season premiere, Fox has now confirmed. Maria Bello will appear as a series regular in season two - the ER actress plays Lucy Robbins, mother of the gifted Amelia (Saxon Sharbino). In the premiere, Martin Bohm (Sutherland), his son Jake (David Mazouz) and Lucy will go on the run from sinister organisation Aster Corps (more)...

Another day, another new premiere date for the second season of Fox's "Touch." The network announced on Wednesday (November 28) that "Touch" will now launch with a two-hour premiere on Friday, February 8. That's only a one-week bump from the premiere date that Fox announced last for the Kiefer Sutherland drama, but far past the originally slated October return. Maybe this one will stick? The largely overhauled drama picks up with Sutherland's Martin Bohm and gifted son Jake (David Mazouz) on the run, fleeing New York for Los Angeles and attempting to help Maria Bello's Lucy find her...

Pier Paolo Pasolini’S Trilogy Of Life (Criterion) Pier Paolo Pasolini was Italy’s last Neo-Realist, a product of post-ww II Europe who was fervently Catholic, openly gay, defiantly Marxist, and one of the most original voices of the 20th century’s second half. Before his brutal murder in 1975 (after the premiere of his still-controversial swan song, “Salo”), Pasolini directed a trilogy of films based on masterpieces of medieval literature: Boccaccio’s “The Decameron,” Chaucer’s “The Canterbury Tales,” and “The Thousand and One Nights (also known as “The Arabian Nights”). The three films celebrate the uninhibited, earthy, raw carnal nature of the original texts, leaving little to the imagination, but also offering Pasolini’s own very unique and pointed views on modern society, consumerism, religious and sexual mores (and hypocrisies), and an unexpurgated celebration of the human body, both male and female. Chicago – What do a multi-year procedural like “Bones,” a tragically canceled show like “Alcatraz,” and a struggling new show like “Touch” share other than the fact that you’ll find their most recent (or only) seasons the New Release shelf at your DVD & Blu-ray store? Not much other than the fact that all three are strong examples of how Fox has had difficulty finding an identity in recent years. “Alcatraz” was highly promoted but missed its audience. “Touch” was a surprising renewal that has now had its second season delayed. Only “Bones” has remained a reliable hit for the network that really needs a new one.
Given the loyal audience for “Bones,” one could presume that “Bones: The Complete Seventh Season” is probably the cream of this crop. It is telling that Fox even releases the show on Blu-ray given that many of their programs are standard-dvd releases only,...

Touch will look a bit different when it returns to Fox for Season 2.
The network announced a couple casting additions today: Lukas Haas and Saxon Sharbin will both come on board as series regulars.
Haas (24) will portray an employee of Aster Corps, the research facility that has set its sights on Kiefer Sutherland's Martin and his son Jake.
Sharbino, meanwhile, will portray the gifted daughter of Lucy Robbins, the character played by another new series regular, Maria Bello.
As for what fans can expect overall on Season 2? Fox has released the following tease/statement/synopsis:
The story setting shifts from New York to Los Angeles, where single father Martin Bohm and his gifted son Jake are on the run from the mysterious and possibly sinister research facility Aster Corps, which had shown tremendous interest in exploiting Jake’s ability to perceive the hidden patterns that connect people around the world.

Tim Kring’s Touch started off as a mediocre drama that packaged coincidence together with logic and wrapped it up in a tiny little box of autism. However, if you stuck with the drama, which I thankfully did, you were exposed to quite possibly the best feel-good drama of the 2012 TV season. Touch is a series that makes you think that the impossible can happen and that the problems of the world, specifically your own, can be fixed if the right sequence of events fall into the correct ratio. Sure, sometimes the scenarios can be outlandish. Sometimes you may get hit with a story arc that takes place in outer space, but has something to do with the buying and selling of children. Yet, these far-fetched situations seamlessly ground the show in one word – hope. Something we can all use.

On Fox's drama "Touch" -- which concludes its first season with a two-hour finale on Thursday, May 31 -- Bodhi Elfman pays Avram, an Hasidic Jew who may have answers to the questions that troubled father Martin Bohm (Kiefer Sutherland) has about his emotionally challenged 11-year-old son, Jake (David Mazouz), who seems to be able to detect world-spanning connections through mysterious numbers.
Series creator Tim Kring appears to have made a connection of his own by casting Elfman in the part.

Kiefer Sutherland (24) and Fox will continue their long relationship into next season. Touch, the actor's newest TV series, has been renewed for a second season.
Touch follows the tale of Martin Bohm (Sutherland) and his struggle to connect with his young autistic son (David Mazouz), a boy who sees patterns that connect the people and events of the world. Other castmembers include Danny Glover, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Roxana Brusso.
The network took a gamble by giving Touch a special premiere in January, two months before the show would start airing regularly. The initial episode's performance was solid with a 3.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 12.01 million total viewers. But, would that audience remember to tune in again in mid-March?

Kiefer Sutherland has had a long relationship with Fox after years of "24." That partnership is continuing. Fox just renewed his hour long drama "Touch" for Season 2. The show tells the story of Martin Bohm (Sutherland) and his autistic son Jake (David Mazouz) who doesn't speak but sees patterns in everyday things that connect the world.
Two other shows weren't so lucky. Fox has canceled both "Alcatraz" and "The Finder." This move wasn't unexpected since the ratings were less than stellar. The science fiction/prison drama's numbers went down every week and "The Finder" didn't find an audience. That show's series finale will air Friday, May 11.
Were you watching "Alcatraz" or "Touch?" Did you lose interest? Are you watching "Touch?" That show's audience has remained steady and seems to be getting more word of mouth as it goes on. Let us know your feelings about the Fox announcements below.

“Touch” reached a turning point in its first season last Thursday night, as one character — Arthur Teller (Danny Glover) — was lost, and another — Clea Hopkins (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) — found herself more invested than ever in finding out more about the strange goings-on that now surround her.
So this coming Thursday’s episode promises to be an interesting one, as the mystery surrounding Jake Bohm’s (David Mazouz) abilities and Teller’s death deepens even further.
Compounding the drama is Jake’s aunt (Catherine Dent), who initiates a custody battle to try and pry Jake away from his father, Martin Bohm (Kiefer Sutherland).
Fox All Access caught up with Sutherland and Mbatha-Raw at a “Touch” red carpet event in Hollywood this week, and producer Jeff Axelrod spoke to the stars about the new shifts in the series’ storyline.
All-new episodes of “Touch” air Thursday nights at 9/8c on Fox.

There are two conflicting and very strong emotional experiences for Kiefer Sutherland's Martin Bohm on "Touch" (Thu., 9p.m. Et on Fox). First, there is his devotion and love for his son, Jake. But also he is still struggling with the grief over his wife Sarah, who died in the World Trade Center on 9/11.
This week, the complex narrative that weaves the stories on this series circled the number 9.50, and in doing so it brought not only Martin some much needed closer on Sarah's passing, but two other men whom she met and knew during that time in her life.
Jake was with Martin throughout, and his actions created a sort of Rube Goldberg affect to interconnect three separate stories that all touched upon one another by the close of the hour. The connection for Martin was in meeting Bobby, a bike messenger that Sarah helped tutor through his Ged shortly before her death.

The first season of Touch officially kicked off last week, a couple months after Fox teased the country with the pilot back in January. With millions tuning in to check out the second episode, there’s no doubt that America is ready for another Kiefer Sutherland helmed television show!
If you missed out on last week’s episode, here’s a little background: Kiefer plays Martin Bohm, a man who continually tries to find a way to connect with his emotionally challenged son, Jake, a boy who doesn’t communicate at all. It becomes quickly apparent that although Jake can’t express himself through words, he has a special talent for seeing the invisible patterns in the universe that bind people together. As Martin begins to notice and understand his son’s unique gift, they are able to see how events will play out before they even happen.

"Touch" premiered tonight (Mar. 22) and star Kiefer Sutherland isn't exactly Jack Bauer this time around. In fact, he's about as far from it as he could get. Sutherland plays Martin Bohm, a single dad who lost his wife on 9/11. In addition to that, his son (David Mazouz) is autistic and doesn't speak. Bohm is at his wits end when he realizes that his son is communicating with numbers and predicting the future.
Complicating matters is social worker Clea (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) who, though sympathetic, is trying to get Martin to put his son somewhere where he can be better taken care of. This is a show that pulls on the heartstrings ... if you believe the connection theory.
We want to know what you think. The show has a great cast, not the least of which is Mazouz, who acts more through his eyes (and his voice overs) than quite a number of adult actors.

Jack is back, y'all! Ok, so he's not really back as Jack Bauer, but 24's Kiefer Sutherland made his official return to TV tonight in NBC's ambitious new drama Touch, which hails from Heroes creator Tim Kring. Sounds like a recipe for success, right? Well, we're about to find out! The time has come for you to tell us what you thought of Touch... Kiefer plays widower Martin Bohm in this high-concept drama about a father who is unable to connect with his mute and emotionally challenged son Jake (David Mazouz). Things take an interesting turn with Martin learns that Jake can predict future events before they happen. "[The show] is based on a Chinese fable...

As counterterrorist agent Jack Bauer in the hit Fox series "24," Kiefer Sutherland played a man who had to keep his feelings inside in order to save the world. In his new Fox series, "Touch" -- which had a preview on Jan. 25 and has its regular time-slot premiere on Thursday, March 22 -- Sutherland's character, Martin Bohm, is still having a global impact, but his methods couldn't be more different.
Calling in from a location near Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Sutherland says, "Jack Bauer, as a character, is so repressed; that was his job. His job was to be able to pocket his emotions, so he could take on what was seemingly an insurmountable task.
"Martin is almost the opposite, where his emotions are very much out front. He has a very simple desire, which is to develop, as he perceives it, as normal as possible a relationship with his son.

Kiefer Sutherland returns to television tonight with the official world premiere of “Touch,” a new series that explores the seemingly random connections between this planet’s 7 billion inhabitants.
Sutherland stars as Martin Bohm, a man who lost his wife in the 9/11 attacks and has been raising their son Jake (David Mazouz) alone. It hasn’t been easy, though — Jake hasn’t uttered a single word in his entire life and won’t let anybody touch him.
But what he’s just starting to realize is that his son has the unusual ability to see patterns that aren’t just coincidences — they have global implications.
Fox All Access host Chris Leary went to the set of “Touch” and spoke with Sutherland about the show and the unique way in which it’s being rolled out to an international audience to encourage fans worldwide to talk… to “touch.”

Will Kiefer Sutherland always save the day?
Viewers who tuned into the premiere of his newest series Touch watched as his character Martin Bohm pieced together a puzzle indirectly given to him by his autistic son Jake (David Mazouz). By the end of the hour, Martin, like Sutherland's Jack Bauer, connected the dots in the nick of time, saving a young boy from a bomb, reuniting a grieving couple and leading a lottery winner to save a bunch of kids from a burning bus. But will each episode always end with...

Kiefer Sutherland has claimed that his Touch character is as courageous as 24's Jack Bauer. The actor said that he hoped audiences would appreciate his alter ego Martin Bohm's constant struggle to connect with his mute son Jake (David Mazouz). "There are underlying consistencies [between Touch and 24]," he told the Radio Times. "In the same way Jack was confronted by insurmountable odds, Martin is never going to have the typical, idyllic relationship that a father and a son hope to have. "Yet he still fights to have a better relationship with his son, so both characters have courage even though it's utilised in different ways." On what drew him to Touch, (more)...

Kiefer Sutherland's new show "Touch" is planning a massive global premiere, as the father-son drama will debut simultaneously in over 100 countries. The distribution and marketing campaign is a synergistic fit with the show's themes of international interconnectedness: Sutherland's character Martin Bohm's son Jake is believed to be autistic until his father discovers that he actually has the ability to see patterns connecting every life on Earth.
In an interview with "Good Day L.A." (weekdays, 7 a.m. Pt on Fox) Sutherland discussed the worldwide reach of the show. It centers around a relationship between me and my son, but what seems to be innocuous to us is the ripple effect that it has around the globe. In the soaringly earnest but effective Touch, Kiefer Sutherland barks so many of his lines with the strained desperation of an exhausted man who’s just barely keeping it together. He’s shouldering a tremendous weight and no one around him is sensitive to his plight. But then, he doesn’t really expect them to be. Best known as badass Jack Bauer, here, a more vulnerable Sutherland is Martin Bohm, widowed father of a mute, emotionally challenged boy and the nucleus of this ambitious Fox drama by Heroes creator Tim Kring. Jake (David Mazouz), Martin’s son, won’t allow anyone to touch him and spends his days obsessively scribbling numbers in a notebook or fiddling with discarded cell phones, while his father spends the majority of his time trying to find a way—any way at all—to communicate with him. The new drama "Touch" starring Kiefer Sutherland premiered last night (Jan. 25), giving us a tease of the upcoming season that starts in March. Sutherland plays single dad Martin Bohm. He's overworked and still in mourning for the wife he lost on 9/11.
His son Jake, (David Mazouz) doesn't speak and has been diagnosed as autistic. What we find out is that he actually has powers far beyond that of a normal person. He's able to see patterns connecting humanity across the world, the red thread of Chinese legend that connects everyone by the ankle.
He's communicating with his father and social worker Clea Hopkins (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) in symbols and patterns. They're left with the task of interpreting what that means and how to help people.

Let me see if I can preemptively answer some of your questions about tonight’s premiere of Touch, starring 24’s Kiefer Sutherland. No, Sutherland does not use a gun. Yes, he still runs through airports and train stations à la Jack Bauer. No, the show is not as bad as the last few seasons of creator Tim Kring’s previous show Heroes.
It wasn’t great. It wasn’t awful. But it definitely wasn’t 24.

Tonight, 24's Kiefer Sutherland returns to Fox in Touch, a new dramatic series from Heroes' Tim Kring. This evening's pilot serves as a special preview as the show won't be a regular part of the network's schedule until March.
Sutherland plays Martin Bohm. He was a highly successful reporter who's been toiling in a series of smaller jobs since the death of his wife on 9/11. He's now a baggage handler who isn't able to connect with his seemingly-autistic son Jake (David Mazouz), who doesn't like human contact. A stranger (Danny Glover) tells the frustrated father that there is a pattern to everything and a connection between all of us. If we can figure out the correct formulas, it may be possible to foretell the future.

I wasn't sure what to make of Touch when I first read the premise, but I was anxious to give it a try. Having never been any good at math, the thought of following a show about a child who sees the world through a kaleidoscope of numbers and calculations was a little daunting.
However, having used several tissues to get through the pilot. I'll admit that it's the emotional connection, not the mathematical one, that kept me glued to the screen.
As I was a huge fan of 24, I was eager to see Kiefer Sutherland return to TV and, although Martin Bohm is no Jack Bauer, I wasn't disappointed. Martin's a man who will do anything to connect with his mute, emotionally challenged son.
It was interesting to note that the show never used the word autistic. Although some will see that as a cop out, I'm willing to...

Touch 1.01 "Pilot" Series Premiere Review - A Second Opinion
Touch premieres its first episode tonight, created by Heroes showrunner Tim Kring and starring Kiefer Sutherland in his first TV role since the end of Fox's mega-hit 24. The hotly-anticipated series features Sutherland as a widowed father who finds himself realizing his son's unusual nature actually represents a gift that might allow them to see the future, and unlock deeper mysteries of the universe itself.
Earlier today Jon Lachonis posted a review with his own unique take on the new Fox series Touch, which shows a special preview of the pilot tonight and officially begins its run on March 19th, but I thought I’d chime in with a few thoughts of my own. Unlike Jon, I never paid much attention to 24 and therefore had a different experience looking past the omnipresent Jack Bauer comparisons to see what this new mystery series was all about.

Review: Kiefer Sutherland in Fox's Touch
I approached Heroes’ creator Tim Kring’s latest offering, Touch, with an extra layer of scrutiny. See, besides being an occasional arm-chair television critic I’m also the father of Autistic child, and like many parents of Autistic children it miffs me when this widespread and often misunderstood condition is exploited.
