A couple days ago, Sony Pictures unveiled a trailer for their Marvel Comics adaptation Venom: The Last Dance, giving us our first look at the film that’s meant to wrap up the Venom series and is aiming for an October 25th theatrical release. Now Forbes has published an interview with star Tom Hardy in which he talks about ending the series with a bang – and teased that this movie might have an R rating. (The previous two Venom movies were rated PG-13.)
Hardy told Forbes, “This one – I’m so, so excited about because we’ve gone much bigger. If the mission statement is commercial, blockbuster, action and superhero movie, how can we imbue a sense of something that’s fun and different? What’s going to entice people that they have a memory, they have a moment, they have an event? This comes from us who are really,...

That’s how “I’m a Virgo” creator Boots Riley pitched his latest show to actor Jharrel Jerome. “This is the wildest title to an email I’ve seen. I don’t know what he’s talking about,” Jerome tells Variety‘s Awards Circuit Podcast. A week later, Riley was in his hotel room, with a briefcase painting a picture of how this show would look like – and he had mini figurines so Jerome could have a visual.
And yes, Jerome was concerned, he thought he’d be acting in front of a green screen all day long. But that wasn’t the case. Riley — who had the entire show mapped out in his mind, long before the streaming service was involved — wanted to do everything practical and in-camera. The first trailer for Venom: The Last Dance was released yesterday and...well, it was quite something. It's a Venom movie, alright, and while it looks like an "epic" conclusion to the trilogy, there are signs of the same old problems.
Sony Pictures has never quite managed to grasp this character, but Venom was a hit in 2018 and Venom: Let There Be Carnage also performed well despite being released in the final months of the Covid-19 pandemic.
That's given the studio a false sense of confidence and a belief that, no matter what fans and critics say, the goofy direction they've taken this franchise in is the right one. In this feature, we single out moments in the trailer which highlight the mistakes Sony has already made with Venom: The Last Dance.

Since the inception of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, excluding Spider-Man, the only thing that has gone their way till now is the Venom franchise. Even though the first movie failed to win over critics and was panned critically, it made enough splash at the box office to warrant a sequel and keep Sony’s strive for an interconnected universe alive.
However, apart from Venom, Sony’s attempt at a villain-centric universe hasn’t worked out well, as two of their last releases were both critical and box-office failures. But with the threequel on the way, whose first trailer has been released, it seems this might not be the last of the Symbiote.

Tom Hardy is back, and so is Venom, and yes, the two are still the same. Sony released the trailer for Venom: The Last Dance earlier today, and it seemingly puts our beloved Eddie Brock in the face of a disaster that he simply cannot escape from, without dying. The trailer gives fans an insight into what they can expect from the upcoming movie, and needless to say, it does not suggest a happy ending for Venom, or Brock.

In Venom: Let There Be Carnage's post-credits scene, Eddie Brock was teleported from his reality to Earth-616 (a.k.a. the Marvel Cinematic Universe).
His beaten-up Mexico hotel was replaced by what looked like a 5* resort, with the Venom Symbiote taking great interest in a TV news report about the wall-crawler. The stage was then set for a meeting between the two characters, only for Spider-Man: No Way Home to end with the reveal that Eddie never left his resort.
However, Venom did leave a piece of himself behind on Earth-616 in a scene clearly meant to open the door to Tom Holland's Peter Parker getting his own alien suit.
With Eddie sent back to where he came from, only a bartender - played by Ted Lasso's Cristo Fernández - was left to comment on the fact his sole customer vanished without paying his tab.

Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for Venom: The Last Dance, and this is far from an initial teaser, packing in quite a bit of action-packed footage from what is being marketed as the final instalment in the franchise.
It seems the Symbiote has finally managed to convince Eddie Brock to embrace being a "lethal protector" and start doling out some vigilante justice, as we see them dispatch a group of goons in typically violent fashion.
Venom's actions begin to bring unwanted attention, however, as it's revealed that Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange) and Juno Temple's (Ted Lasso) characters have been tasked with tracking Brock down - and we also learn that members of the Symbiote's alien race have taken an interest.
Eddie and Venom are going to have to contend with a monstrous new Symbiote, but will that be the only villain they face? We do catch...

Over the years, we’ve learned to take a supposed cinematic finale with a pinch of salt. Years after Logan, Hugh Jackman is back in Deadpool & Wolverine. In horror-land, Saw: The Final Chapter turned out to be anything but. The apparent end of the Jurassic era with Jurassic World: Dominion lasted mere years, with a new film entering production shortly. But, if the title (and pre-release chatter) is to be believed Venom: The Last Dance will be Tom Hardy’s… well, last dance with the Venom symbiote, capping off Sony's trilogy of Spider-Man-adjacent comic book outings with a whole bunch more space-goo creatures in the mix. Following his very brief appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, we catch up with Hardy’s Eddie Brock, who is now on the run – and facing foes both from Earth, and Venom’s homeworld. Check out the trailer:

Eddie Brock and his…better(?) half “may not make it out of [this one] alive.” That’s probably why the third and final film in the “Venom” series is subtitled “The Last Dance.”
On Monday, Sony Pictures released the trailer for the Marvel movie that officially makes “Venom” a trilogy. You would think by now the Tom Hardy character and his frenemy alien symbiote would have their timing down a bit better, but an early (and comedic) scene in the official trailer proves they’ve still got some work to do. The levity soon gives way to Brock/Venom biting four guys’ heads off — classic Venom.
In “Venom: The Last Dance,” the guys are on the lam — and it’s not just their Earth enemies who are closing in. The film’s tagline is “‘Til Death Do They Part,” which does not particularly promise a happy ending.

Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for Venom: The Last Dance, even if Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock is still getting a bit used to sharing headspace with an alien symbiote.
In the clip, a seemingly reluctant Brock is cornered by a bad guy or several, and has no choice but to let the Venom drip, even if he is a little rusty at it. Take a look above.
Venom: The Last Dance is billed as Hardy’s final installment as the Marvel anti-hero, a role he last played in Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021). This time around, Hardy shares a story credit on the film with Kelly Marcel, who directs.

Tom Hardy returns as Eddie Brock for one final time in this autumn’s Venom: The Last Dance. Here’s a new trailer.
Venom is one of the more off-beat and wayward franchises in the superhero genre, with Tom Hardy evidently relishing his dual role of scruffy journalist Eddie Brock and Venom, the alien symbiote that becomes his unlikely partner.
Six years on from the 2018 original and the 2021 sequel, Let There Be Carnage, Hardy reprises the role for the third (and seemingly final) time in this October’s Venom The Last Dance. And if you’ve been wondering whether or not it’ll continue the knowingly over-the-top style of the last two movies, then fear not: the trailer below sees Venom fighting a monster on the roof of a moving jumbo jet and, a bit later, possessing a horse.
Actor and filmmaker Kelly Marcel (who wrote the last two installments) is on directing duties here,...

Sony has released the first trailer for Venom: The Last Dance, which is being billed as “the final film in the trilogy” starring Tom Hardy. Check it out below.
Following the events of 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Eddie Brock (Hardy) and his alien symbiote companion are more in tune than ever — even if they still haven’t quite nailed the catchphrase. But as David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” plays in the preview, Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor gear up a military squad to bring the extraterrestrial fugitive down.
With Stephen Graham’s symbiote-bonded Detective Mulligan in their custody, it seems the government has learned more dangerous creatures from Venom’s home planet are on their way to Earth. So while Brock and his slimy black buddy are on the run from one army, they must get ready to do battle with another, nastier one… that comes with way more teeth.

They are Venom, and they are officially back — Sony Pictures has dropped the first trailer for “Venom: The Last Dance,” the final movie in the Spider-Man villain trilogy.
Tom Hardy returns as Eddie Brock, better known as the brain-eating, symbiote villain Venom from the Spider-Man comics. Sony is touting “The Last Dance” as “the final film in the trilogy.” According to the logline, “Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.”
In the trailer, Hardy faces a massive, symbiote alien from Venom’s home planet, on top of being hunted by government agents. There’s plenty of symbiote action, plus a scene where Hardy rides a super-fast, Venom-ized horse. Joining Hardy is “Ted Lasso” star Juno Temple and...

A third film in the Marvel Comics-inspired Venom franchise made its way through production last year, shutting down for several months along the way due to the Screen Actors Guild strike. Now the film, titled Venom: The Last Dance, is aiming for an October 25th theatrical release – and today, Sony Pictures is starting to build the hype by unveiling the first trailer! You can check it out in the embed above.
The first Venom was scripted by Jeff Pinker, Scott Rosenberg, and Kelly Marcel. Ruben Fleischer directed that film, which made $856 million. But then Fleischer turned his focus to making Zombieland: Double Tap and Uncharted – so Andy Serkis took over as director on Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Which was written by Kelly Marcel, working from a story she crafted with star Tom Hardy. That sequel earned $506 million at the pandemic era global box office. Serkis said he would be...

Tom Hardy is ready to tango one last time with Venom, the Marvel anti-hero he has played for the past six years. The actor stars in the first trailer for Venom: The Last Dance, which is billed as the final film of Hardy’s trilogy in which he plays journalist Eddie Brock — a man who bonds with an alien symbiote, together becoming Venom.
Hardy has taken a hands-on approach with the Venom franchise, earning a story by credit on The Last Dance and previous entry, Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021). His frequent writing partner Kelly Marcel steps into the director’s chair for this installment, which opens Oct. 25.
The Last Dance follows Venom (2018), which became a surprise overperformer at the box office, earning $856.1 million globally. Hardy followed that up with Let There Be Carnage (2021), which topped $506.8 million at the box office, a solid showing considering it was released amid pandemic challenges,...

Marvel's best couple is coming back to try and save Sony's woebegone live-action Spider-Verse one final time. With "Morbius" failing to make "It's Morbin' Time!" happen and "Madame Web" falling harder than Dakota Johnson trying to pop the lid on a soda can, it's up to Tom Hardy's lobster tank-diving journalist Eddie Brock and his tater tots-snacking, gooey-hearted (and just plain gooey) boyfriend Venom to keep the studio's hopes of a viable "Spider-Man" extended universe alive. (At least until Aaron Taylor-Johnson's nose-biting Kraven the Hunter arrives to usher in the next Yuletide season classic.)
"Venom: The Last Dance" sees "Venom" and "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" co-writer Kelly Marcel trying her hand at directing for the first time, once again drawing from a story she cooked up with Hardy. The popular, warm-hearted Apple TV+ comedy drama Ted Lasso is coming to DVD and Blu-Ray in the UK in July.
There are few success stories as unlikely as Ted Lasso. Originating as a character Jason Sudeikis played to promote NBC Sports’ coverage of the Premier League in 2013, it was another four years before Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence came aboard to develop the series for Apple TV+. Sudeikis’ long-time friend and colleague Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly were also among the creative team.
The show is ostensibly about AFC Richmond, a fictitious London football club, but the heart of the show lies in the relationships between its characters.
Ted’s relentless optimism does not mesh well with the more cynical worldview of the team, but he eventually wins over steely club owner Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham), as he attempts to whip the team into shape with the cool and collected Coach Beard...

Venom star Tom Hardy confirmed that the third movie would mark Eddie Brock's "last ride" in a social media post shortly after production began, and we found out back in March that this sentiment (if not the exact wording) had carried over to the official title: Venom: The Last Dance.
Despite mostly negative reviews, the first two movies did very well at the box office, and while many fans feel the title character deserves better, others view the mostly light-hearted comic book adventures as a bit of throwaway fun and are looking forward to a first look at some footage from the threequel.
Following Friday's news that the first trailer has been classified and will most likely screen head of Bad Boys: Ride or Die, we have a more exact update on when the teaser is expected to debut online.

With just five months to go until the release of Venom: The Last Dance, we surprisingly know very little about the movie, but that’s all set to change as there have been rumblings that the first trailer will debut next week.
The BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) has classified a 2-minute, 27-second trailer for Venom: The Last Dance. Scooper Daniel Richtman narrowed down the release window, saying it will be released on Monday. The trailer is expected to screen in front of Bad Boys: Ride or Die, which hits theaters on June 7th.
Related Venom 3 gets a new title and release date
As I mentioned above, plot details regarding Venom: The Last Dance have been kept under wraps, so it will be nice to finally know a little of what to expect from what’s being billed as the third and final installment of the franchise. Tom Hardy stars as Eddie Brock/Venom,...

When Tom Hardy first appeared as the fan-favorite Eddie Brock/Venom, it was largely the ideal combination. The grit, acting chops, and intrepid energy that Hardy brought to the character meant that Sony immediately had a hit on their hands.
While Venom was rated PG-13, it did not need to showcase a large amount of violence and gore in order to attract audiences. That was a job done by the film’s narrative, and the evergreen, oft-hilarious charm of Tom Hardy.

Regardless, Sony did what Sony does, and showed every intention of turning the Hardy-led movie into a full-blown franchise. Our favorite extraterrestrial symbiote, in an unfortunate manner, gave birth to an offspring in the form of Woody Harrelson’s Cletus Kasady / Carnage. However, things did not work out as well as the first time around.

Welcome to Emmy Experts Typing, a weekly column in which Gold Derby editors and Experts Joyce Eng and Christopher Rosen discuss the Emmy race — via Slack, of course. This week, as the eligibility period closes Friday, we discuss two last-minute limited/TV movie hopefuls.
Christopher Rosen: Hello, Joyce! We’re at the end of 2024 Emmys eligibility, and not without some last-minute entries. This week, Netflix added “Eric” to its stable of limited series contenders — joining fellow May release “A Man in Full,” as well as “Ripley,” “Griselda,” “Painkiller” and presumed frontrunner “Baby Reindeer.” Meanwhile, over at HBO, “The Great Lillian Hall” is here, a TV movie that puts Jessica Lange in contention for Best Limited/TV Movie Actress. It’s funny: Neither of these projects feels like they connected with critics and the late drops are always dicey when there are too many shows to watch in the first place.

With Andy Serkis stepping behind the camera, expectations were high for Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The movie ended up being a big improvement over its predecessor, but a PG-13 rating neutered Cletus Kasady and held the movie back to a large degree.
A post-credits scene teasing Venom's meeting with Spider-Man increased fan interest, only for Spider-Man: No Way Home's own stinger to send Eddie Brock back where he came from without ever meeting Peter Parker.
Venom: The Last Dance is up next and that movie will reportedly be Tom Hardy's final appearance as Eddie. Kelly Marcel, who wrote Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, now writes and directs...whether that's a good or bad thing remains to be seen.

Hannah Waddingham has made quite a name for herself since playing Septa Unella, aka the Shame Nun, in the fifth season of Game of Thrones. Despite having little dialogue, the actress made her acting prowess known by commanding the screen, and later went on to secure two Emmy wins for her performance as Rebecca Welton in Ted Lasso.
Moreover, her success hasn’t been limited to the small screen, as Waddingham recently appeared in The Fall Guy, and is now looking forward to making her Mission: Impossible debut. But despite being in top demand in Hollywood in recent years, her introduction to showbiz wasn’t pretty, as the actress recalled being shunned by many before making it big.

It was recently confirmed that Venom: The Last Dance will be the final movie in Sony's hit franchise. That could be because Tom Hardy is ready to move on or a result of Marvel Studios having its own plans for the Symbiote.
Either way, after the runaway success of 2018's Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage's respectable performance in the post-pandemic 2021, Sony is no doubt hoping this trilogy ends on a high (and profitable) note.
While the movie remains shrouded in secrecy, a newly surfaced plot leak for Venom: The Last Dance has been gaining traction on social media this evening.
In that, it's said Venom sets out to kill a 10-year-old Peter Parker in an effort to avoid suffering the same fate as many of his Multiversal Variants: death at the hands of Spider-Man (which would tie into the post-credits scenes of both the Venom sequel...

Welcome to My Favorite Scene! In this series, IndieWire speaks to actors behind a few of our favorite television performances about their personal-best onscreen moment and how it came together.
IndieWire caught Lamorne Morris on the road. Headed to work on an unnamed set in Los Angeles, the “Fargo” Season 5 actor joked about an overcast day and rush-hour traffic. Asked how he was faring, he quipped on speakerphone, “Oh, I’m good! I’m in the car, just driving at high speeds recklessly. Very, veeery recklessly.”
The former “New Girl” actor may be many years entrenched in the Hollywood grind, but Morris is native to Chicago. A childhood spent in the American midwest helped him with the accent and demeanor needed for Deputy Witt Farr. In a major shockeroo announcement, Gold Derby can reveal that FX is shifting the popular “Shōgun” away from the limited series races for the 2024 Emmys and will compete in all the drama categories instead. That rumor has been circulating throughout Hollywood for almost two weeks, but it is now official according to FX. How will this affect the dramatic races for series, acting, directing, writing and crafts?

Shooting has wrapped on Venom: The Last Dance and with a little over five months before it arrives in theaters, we're hoping an official first look is somewhere on the horizon.
Sony Pictures could do with a win after delivering flops like Morbius and Madame Web, but only time will tell whether the Venom threequel can give them one. After all, most fans aren't expecting much from Kraven the Hunter, a movie recently pushed back to December 13.
Now, a first look at the stunt team's crew gift has been revealed and it may reveal Venom: The Last Dance's big bad.
As you can see in the X post below, green is being used for the "3" in the movie's logo, while three green slashes can also be seen across the Symbiote's unmistakable face.
Looking at the comics, we have to believe this is meant as a reference to Lasher.

Gore Verbinski would seem to have hit a snag in his big-budget blockbuster career after his Lone Ranger movie for Disney became a notoriously bloated flop. However, he was able to return with a smaller directorial effort after that, with the suspense film A Cure for Wellness. It has been eight years since the release of A Cure for Wellness, and Verbinski returns from his hiatus to helm an action-adventure film with the humorous title Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die. The movie sports an impressive cast, including Sam Rockwell, Michael Peña, Haley Lu Richardson, Zazie Beetz and Juno Temple. The film has just started production on location in South Africa.
The description of the movie’s plot, according to Deadline, reads, “The film, written by Matthew Robinson (Love & Monsters), centers on a man from the future (Rockwell) who arrives at a diner in Los Angeles where he must recruit...
