IFC Midnight and Shudder have closed a multi-territory deal for “She Will,” a psychological horror directed by artist and filmmaker Charlotte Colbert.
The film is a gothic fairy tale about Veronica Ghent who after a double mastectomy, goes to a healing retreat in rural Scotland with her young nurse Desi. There, she discovers that the process of such surgery opens up questions about her very existence, leading her to start to question and confront past traumas. The two develop an unlikely bond as mysterious forces give Veronica the power to enact revenge within her dreams.
“She Will” has been a hit on the festival circuit. It won the Golden Leopard for Best First Film at Locarno Film Festival and was in the official selection at the London Film Festival, Sitges, Fantastic Fest and Thessaloniki.

With Academy Award-winning “Roma” and “Gravity” director Alfonso Cuarón already a fan, Charlotte Colbert’s feature debut “She Will” will no doubt similarly impress audiences when it premieres at the Locarno Film Festival this week.
A psychological horror, the film stars Alice Krige (“Star Trek: First Contact”) as Veronica, a double mastectomy patient seeking respite at a rural Scottish healing retreat who soon finds herself able to mete out revenge via her dreams.
“’She Will’ sits in the tradition of great psychological horror films,” Cuarón said of the work. “The images, symbolism and layers within the story slowly convey a metaphysical ecstasy which leaves one questioning long after the film is finished. Charlotte Colbert has crafted a powerful debut.”
Krige is joined on-screen by Kota Eberhardt (“X-Men: Dark Phoenix”), Malcolm McDowell (“Bombshell”) and Rupert Everett (“My Best Friend’s Wedding”).

Who would have thought that a ’90s ‘slacker’ independent filmmaker would make such a strong romantic statement? Well, it’s not all romance in the old sense. In what must be a project of love, Richard Linklater examines the ongoing love life of Jesse & Céline, in three movies spread across eighteen years. The conversations are as free- flowing as are the cameras roaming through European back streets. Thanks to the commitment of Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke, the in-depth relationship seems real.

The 2013 Gotham Independent Film Awards nominations have been announced. The trophies will be handed out December 2 at Cipriani Wall Street. Richard Linklater’s third dramatic go-round with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, “Before Midnight,” has been acquired by Sony Pictures Classics for North American and U.K. release. The eagerly anticipated Premieres-section title had its first screening Sunday at the Eccles Theatre at the Sundance Film Festival. The first in the series, “Before Sunrise,” followed a French girl and an American guy who meet on a train in Europe and decide to spend a romantic night together in Vienna in 1995. Nine years later in “Before Sunset,” Jesse and Celine met again, this time in Paris, and discovered that their chemistry had not dimmed despite a decade spent apart struggling with life’s responsibilities. In this third film, they meet again in Greece after another nine years have passed. Linklater, Hawke and Delpy wrote the script together. Linklater, Christos V. Linklater hasn’t been slowing down, Bernie unassumingly made the rounds and critic circles acknowledged that this true life character study was among the year’s best. Before Midnight is already cherished thanks to characters that we’ve adored from the previous two installments. My Prediction: Celine and Jesse did get together and added a third wheel. Seven year itch becomes a reality.

He outfitted the festival with his debut film Slacker (’91 Sundance), and a pair of films nearly a decade later (Waking Life and Tape) and while we imagine WB might be hesitant to let the cat out of the bag early, but Richard Linklater’s Before Midnight does come across as the perfect fit for the fest – and it helps that not only the filmmaker but stars/co-writers Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy are chummy with the lieu (Delpy’s sequel 2 Days in New York was shown there earlier in the year.

The highly anticipated third chapter in Richard Linklater's "Before Sunrise/set" saga has completed filming, and is officially titled "Before Midnight," it was announced today. Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke reprise their roles of Celine and Jesse in the film, which takes place nine years after 2004's "Before Sunset" and was shot in Messinia, Greece. Hawke first suggested the second sequel was a go in an interview with Indiewire earlier this year. The screenplay is once again by Linklater, Delpy and Hawke, the same team that garnered an Oscar nomination for "Sunset.” The film is produced by Linklater’s Detour Filmproduction, Christos V. Exclusive: Buyers arriving at the Toronto Film Festival tomorrow already have a lot of sales titles to consider (more on that tomorrow). Here’s another title to add to the mix: Richard Linklater just wrapped shooting in Messinia, Greece on Before Midnight, the third film in a series that began with Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. Before Midnight, which has Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke reprising their roles as star-crossed lovers Celine and Jesse, was once again scripted by Linklater, Delpy and Hawke, the same team that got an Oscar nom in 2005 for Before Sunset. Linklater shot the film quietly, as many didn’t think it would happen before 2013. There won’t be a sizzle reel or script to read at Toronto, because the film wrapped late last night. But Cinetic Media’s John Sloss will be handling domestic sales once again and he will be at Toronto with other films.
