The Russo Brothers, Anthony, and Joseph, are two of the most successful filmmakers of recent years and have been involved in some of the most successful Marvel iterations till date. This also includes 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, which resulted in a triumphant send-off for the director duo from the MCU, garnering almost $2.8 billion worldwide.

What’s more, back when the Russo Brothers were part of the MCU, it was effectively a golden bird for Marvel. Avengers: Endgame was the second-last movie of the MCU’s Phase III, and there has been considerable stagnancy ever since. Be it in the form of narrative problems, dwindling box office returns, or repetitive storytelling, there are simply a number of reasons why fans have not been as impressed with Marvel’s offerings over the past few years.

Before the Marvel Cinematic Universe met its downfall, it was one of the best superhero franchises that knew how to feature a gripping storyline with high stakes, neatly integrated with humor that was loved by audiences of different ages. The textbook example of this virtue would be Avengers: Infinity War. The 2018 film became an MCU favorite and gave one of the best blockbuster experiences to its fans.

Even though the fate of the universe was at stake, and the lives of the superheroes were in grave danger, as Thanos wanted the Soul Stone from Vision, the superheroes could not ditch the humor. One of the most iconic scenes is the final battle scene, where Thor and Captain America praise each other for replicating each other’s style, believe it or not, was an improv as they were keen on trying different things.

Last year, Jennifer Lopez starred in so-so Netflix actioner "The Mother," in which she sniped her way through wave after wave of bad guys. Unfortunately the film marked yet another moment whereby the streaming age subsumed a former megastar into its nebulous cloud of generic "content." If "The Mother" isn't enough to convince you of such developments, just take a look at "Atlas," the latest Lopez-starring Netflix original film.
It should be said that the trailer for "Atlas" did look promising, but critics certainly aren't too impressed with this sci-fi actioner, which comes from director Brad Peyton ("San Andreas") and also stars Simu Liu, Sterling K. Brown, and Mark Strong. Lopez plays an AI-wary data analyst who quickly finds herself in a situation where she's forced to rely on a synthetic consciousness to survive a mission gone awry. In a reverse-"Blade Runner" scenario, Lopez's character, Atlas Shepherd, travels to...

India’s Zee Studios has set a late November theatrical release for “Dhadak 2,” a romance film challenging societal norms.
The film is a sequel to 2016 hit “Dhadak,” that was itself a Hindi remake of the Marathi film “Sairat.” The 2016 title starred Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor, as well as the late Sridevi.
The new film is directed by Shazia Iqbal and stars Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri in lead roles. Plot details were scarce, though Zee teased it with the logline: [the film] “explores barriers of class and status stitched in the minds of societies, underscoring a narrative of love that can never be fulfilled. Or can it?”
Production is by Zee Studios, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, and Cloud 9 Pictures and is slated for release on Nov. 22, 2024, a slot that falls neatly between Diwali and Christmas.

At the end of the 2018 superhero blockbuster "Avengers: Infinity War," a concerned environmentalist named Thanos (Josh Brolin) amasses six magical gems that, when assembled, granted the possessor omnipotence. Thanos, perhaps uncreatively, only wishes that half of the universe be instantly wiped out, believing that a halving of the population would be a dandy way to preserve natural resources. Thanos snaps his fingers and kills half of the characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They melt into flakes of ash.
In the sequel, 2019's "Avengers: Endgame," five years have passed and everyone is indeed united, although in utter depression. The Avengers were unable to prevent mass death and have retired in shame. Meanwhile, the Asgardian Thor (Chris Hemsworth) has taken to lounging about a hut playing video games and overeating. This has led to him gaining a lot of weight. The other heroes mock his size and point out that he...

Holland appeared as the web-slinging superhero for the first time in MCU’s Captain America: Civil War, directed by the Russo brothers. As much as I roll my eyes at Joe Russo blaming Marvel's pandemic-era box office woes on the children, he's right about one thing: Hollywood, like the world at large, is at a crossroads at the time of this writing. Superhero films, which have been the bread and butter of the industry for most of the 21st century, are no longer a reliable draw. We also find ourselves in a curious place where franchise fatigue seems to be settling in, yet it remains challenging for anything that isn't based on an IP to find financial success. At the same time, the growing popularity of smaller and scrappier fare from studios like A24 could point to a way forward.
It's a lot like the 1960s, when you think about it. By the end of that decade, the American New Wave was in full swing.

Hollywood spent the weekend paying tribute to Roger Corman, the independent filmmaking legend who died last Thursday at age 98.
Corman, known during his time as the “King of the B’s,” was a beloved producer and director who helped boost careers for names such as Jack Nicholson, Ron Howard, Peter Bogdanovich, Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, Jonathan Demme, Gale Anne Hurd and James Cameron.
“He was generous, open-hearted and kind to all those who knew him,” Corman’s family said in a statement. “When asked how he would like to be remembered, he said, ‘I was a filmmaker, just that.’”
In response to news of Corman’s death, many who knew and worked with the filmmaker paid tribute to him online. “A great movie maker and mentor,” Howard wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “When I was 23 he gave me my 1st shot at directing. He launched many careers & quietly lead our industry in important ways.

The Hollywood filmmaking community remembered Roger Corman today as a man who had a “can-do” attitude about making movies. Along the way, he touched many lives, blazing a path for newcomers to enter the business and others to keep the lights on through his relentless drive to produce films.
Amid that hustle, he was remembered as a kind man who had a passion for what he did.
Here are some of the reactions:
Robert De Niro:
“ I’m sorry to hear of the passing of Roger. He started many of us over the years. He was a legend. May he rest in peace.”
Roger Corman was my very first boss, my lifetime mentor and my hero. Roger was one of the greatest visionaries in the history of cinema. I am absolutely devastated by his loss and send my love and deepest condolences to the Corman family. #Rip #RogerCorman pic.

Romance tropes always play a crucial role in superhero films, as it enriches the plot and adds another layer of complexity to the characters’ personalities. While romance enables its viewers to relate to the film, the superhero genre always struggles to incorporate the ideas in their movies. Such was the case in the original Zack Snyder’s Justice League, until Avengers: Endgame directors approved of the unprecedented idea.

In the DC universe, the rivalry of Batman and Superman stands tall as one of the most iconic and enduring dynamics. The rivalry originates from the clash of ideologies and their take on justice. However, the Rebel Moon filmmaker decided to take their iconic rivalry to another level as he decided to put the Caped Crusader and The Daily Planet’s reporter in a relationship after Superman’s demise in the original plot of Justice League.

Russo Brothers Once Revealed Iron Man & Captain America’s Feud Was The Reason The Avengers Lost In Infinity War(Photo Credit – IMDb/Instagram)
The Avengers: Infinity War will always be an impressive Marvel movie as the superheroes face their biggest enemy, Thanos, and lose. It was a disappointment not only for the heroes but also for the fans, who were shocked by the film’s ending. When Russo Brothers Almost Quit On Captain America: Civil War (Photo Credit –Instagram/IMDb)
Captain America: Civil War beautifully set the stage in a way for the Avengers: Infinity War. When Tony Stark reveals to Bruce Banner that the Avengers have broken up, Bruce innocently questions him, “Like the Beetles?” It generated a lot of laughs in the theatres, but that might not have been possible if Marvel’s Creative Committee stopped the Russo brothers from pitting Tony and Steve Rogers against each other in the 2016 movie.

Looks like it’s not just Sundance that could be on the move. The Slamdance Film Festival, the smaller, independent stepsister festival to Sundance, has announced it will be leaving its long-time home of Park City, Utah and will relocate to Los Angeles beginning in 2025.
Next year’s Slamdance, which enters its 30th year after being founded in 1995, will take place in Los Angeles’ West Hollywood neighborhood at the Landmark Theatres Sunset and the DGA Theater Complex. The festival also traditionally runs in late January, generally around the same time as Sundance, but will now be scheduled for February 20-26, 2025.
Slamdance believes being in LA will offer the festival to continue to grow, and it shouldn’t hurt to be out of Sundance’s shadow.

The year 2023 was one to forget for Marvel Studios. Time hasn’t been kind to them since Avengers: Endgame rocked the world. That was the peak for MCU, wasn’t it? Who doesn’t remember fans going crazy for a movie that was almost a decade in the making. Ten years of lore was all leading up to that one moment. Amongst all the superhero movies ever made, the Infinity Saga truly was in a league of its own. But 5 years down the lane, the MCU is struggling. And the reason is a cause of worry for every cinema aficionado.

According to many MCU fans, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ was the last great movie in the series before things started going downhill. After its release, the studio faced both critical and commercial failures, leading some to blame superhero fatigue.
This idea makes sense because there were already so many superhero movies from both the MCU and Dceu, but they weren’t improving in quality.
In the past year, both the MCU and Dceu suffered major failures, with many of their movies barely making a profit. ‘The Marvels’ was particularly disappointing, marking the lowest box office performance for an MCU film yet and failing to reach the $100 million mark domestically for the first time.
In an interview with GamesRadar, the Russo brothers, known for their remarkable superhero films, shared their thoughts on superhero fatigue, expressing their belief that it’s not a real phenomenon. They argue that it’s more about how younger generations consume media.

If you go by your average MCU fandom opinion, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ was the last truly good movie in the cinematic universe before things went downhill. After the movie was released the studio found itself faced with first critical and commercial flops, and plenty of people were ready to point the finger at superhero fatigue.
This theory does have legs to stand on, the market was at that point saturated with superhero movies both when it comes to MCU and Dceu, but their quality wasn’t getting better.
In the last year, both MCU and Dceu had massive flops and most of their movies barely managed to break even. ‘The Marvels’ turned out to be a historic flop, the lowest-grossing MCU movie to date, and the first not to break the $100 million market domestically.

It’s safe to say that the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t been on the top of its game for a few years. That’s not to say that there haven’t been some great movies released during that time, but fans typically point to Avengers: Endgame as the high point of the entire franchise. With dwindling box offices and lackluster reviews, some point to superhero fatigue as the cause, but directors Joe and Anthony Russo have a different explanation.
The Avengers: Endgame directors told GamesRadar that the problem is something much bigger than superhero fatigue, as it affects the rest of Hollywood as well. “I think it’s a reflection of the current state of everything,” Joe Russo said. “It’s difficult right now, it’s an interesting time. Four years after Covid-19 upended the world, we're all still just scrambling to catch up. So many industries are having a rough go of it, and Hollywood is no exception. Even the almighty Marvel Studios has fallen on hard times, with several Marvel Cinematic Universe films seeing lower-than-expected returns at the box office. That downward trend culminated with last year's "The Marvels" becoming the lowest-grossing MCU movie ever. How dire was it? The follow-up to the billion-dollar smash-hit that was 2019's "Captain Marvel" made less than DC's notorious "Green Lantern" from 2011, the first Nicolas Cage "Ghost Rider" movie, and the massive flop that was Fox's X-Men pic "Dark Phoenix." Just let that sink in for a minute.
So, what gives? Could it be that Disney saturating the market with MCU media, with an emphasis on quantity over quality, hurt the brand? Or that the continuing impact of the pandemic on...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently suffering severely, and its recent box office bombs justify just how much on the edge of the cliff it is. If anything, except for a few, there have hardly been any perfect movies from the saga after Avengers: Endgame, which itself was released nearly half a decade ago. This is why many seemingly termed this problem as being “superhero fatigue.”
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
However, two masterminds tend to differ in their respective opinions on this situation. And as it turns out, these two genius brains are none other than the creative helmers behind Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel, Joe and Anthony Russo. According to the Russo Brothers, this recent downfall of the MCU isn’t due to “superhero fatigue,” but is rather a part of a “generational divide.”

Filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo were responsible for some of Marvel’s biggest box office hits, from “Captain America: Civil War” to “Avengers: Endgame,” but they don’t necessarily believe superhero fatigue is to blame for the studio’s recent struggles. Marvel had a tough 2023 with two flops: “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and “The Marvels.” Speaking recently to GamesRadar+, the directors said that Marvel’s current issues boil down to the changes in how people absorb media: It’s a Hollywood-wide issue, not just a Marvel one.

The first Extraction movie appeared in 2020. The movie was directed by Sam Hargraves and starred Chris Hemsworth; it was based on an earlier screenplay for a movie titled Ciudad, which was written by Ande Parks, Joe Russo, and Anthony Russo. The same team returned in 2023 when a sequel, Extraction 2, was released by Netflix. Both of these action movies were quite well-received and they have become fan favorites, which is why fans have been demanding a third movie, and we can now confirm that a third movie is indeed on the way, although things are still being figured out.

Elizabeth Olsen has played the role of Wanda Maximoff a.k.a Scarlet Witch in the MCU since Avengers: Age of Ultron. From being a brainwashed member of Hydra to being one of the Og Avengers, the character has had an interesting arc in the MCU, which seemingly ended in 2022’s Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
However, Scarlet Witch had one of her most powerful and tragic moments in Avengers: Infinity War where she had to protect Vision, who possessed the Mind Stone, from the Black Order. While there are some amazing scenes with the actress in the film, fans seem to be annoyed at the MCU for deleting a pivotal sequence from the movie.

In 2022, Netflix released The Grey Man, an action thriller film starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, Regé-Jean Page, Wagner Moura, Julia Butters, Dhanush (in his Hollywood debut), Alfre Woodard, and Billy Bob Thornton. The movie received mixed reviews, with critics praising the cast and action but criticizing the “clichéd script.” The movie was directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, with Joe Russo contributing to the script alongside Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

Some people conjectured that the brothers might choose to return to Marvel following The Gray Man’s failure and Cherry’s comparatively unimpressive reception. However, in a recent interview, Anthony and Joe Russo stated adamantly that they are ready to move on from playing in someone’s franchise sandbox and instead focus on developing their own original franchises.

After creating the heartbreaking yet truly magnificent exit of Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man from the Marvel Cinematic Universe via Avengers: Endgame, the Russo Brothers — Joe Russo and Anthony Russo — are all set to bring new action to the screens. And this time, this peak entertainment would not be through Rdj or the MCU, but rather, ostensibly through Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling.

As it turns out, the dynamic duo recently hinted at wanting to work with Evans and Gosling once again. The project they would be collaborating on is the sequel to the masterpiece from 2022, The Gray Man. But that’s not all because Evans isn’t the only Chris the mastermind filmmakers are looking forward to working with: They also want Chris Hemsworth to reprise his iconic role!

Hollywood star Robert Downey Jr. has expressed interest in reprising his role as Iron Man.
However, there is one problem, the character died at the end of ‘Avengers: Endgame’.
Speaking with GamesRadar at the Sands: International Film Festival, the film’s directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, seemed baffled at the notion of a Downey return.
“I don’t know how they would do it. I don’t know what the road to that would be,” Anthony Russo told GamesRadar, reports deadline.com.
“I mean, we closed that book, so it would be up to them to figure out how to reopen it,” Joe Russo added.
Marvel head Kevin Feige refuted the claim that it was mulling over bringing Iron Man back.
He had earlier said Marvel Studios could not “magically undo” Tony Stark’s death in ‘Avengers: Endgame’.
“We are going to keep that moment and not touch that moment again,...

The Russo Brothers are one of Hollywood’s busiest duos in an industry that moves at the speed of light. With an alarming amount of projects heaped onto their respective plates, two stand out among the crowd for action fans: Extraction 3 and The Gray Man 2.
Speaking with GamesRadar+ at the Sands: International Film Festival in St. Andrews, Scotland, the Russos said The Gray Man 2 is actively developing. The 2022 original starred Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans as a skilled CIA operative (Gosling) and a psychotic former colleague (Evans) who triggered a global manhunt led by international assassins. Despite getting the shaft from critics, casual audiences loved watching two of Hollywood’s biggest stars square off against one another while explosions light their destructive path.
“We’re developing concepts we think are the right direction to take the character in and so, we are working on that at the moment,” Joe Russo told GamesRadar+. “I mean,...
