Remember Cats & Dogs? Those who were children in the early 00s might look back fondly on this 2001 spy spoof that sported the concept that our pets are actually secret agents waging an eternal war for world domination. Tobey Maguire, Alec Baldwin, Jeff Goldblum and Elizabeth Perkins starred and while the film was pretty well received, no one really remembers 2010’s sequel Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore. And that’s because it was simply awful.
10 years on, though, We Got This Covered has now learned that Cats & Dogs 3 is in the works. According to a pre-production document we recently received from our sources – the same ones who told us a Swamp Thing movie and a new Scream film were in development, both of which have since been confirmed – the threequel begins shooting this very week before wrapping in early February. Production will be split between Vancouver and Los Angeles,...

Netflix's rom-com machine is back in full gear, and its latest offering is The Last Summer. The movie, which started streaming on May 3, is an ensemble comedy about a group of Chicago teens loving and living it up in the final Summer before they scatter for college. It's definitely a self-contained movie with a very specific time frame, but is there the possibility for a sequel? Right now, the answer is a big fat "maybe."
Unlike some of Netflix's other movies, like To All the Boys I've Loved Before, there's no blueprint to The Last Summer's future prospects. Why? Because it's an original script, not an adaptation of any existing material. The screenplay is an original by William Bindley (who also directs) and Scott Bindley. Since there's no preexisting material dictating whether or not the story can continue, there's no reason the writers couldn't continue the story if...

Bill Bindley is directing the film which follows a group of young adults who spend their “last summer” before college on the precipice; ready to take control of their lives and their futures for the first time. Exclusive: While Arthur was a box office flop, Russell Brand has been staked to a first-look producing deal by Warner Bros. That studio has cut back as hard in recent years as any with its number of producer overhead deals, and slashed the ones that remain. But Brand becomes the latest case where the studio gives pacts to actors it primarily wants populating Warner Bros films. Warner Bros got aggressive on that front last year when it added deals with Robert Downey Jr., Ben Affleck/Matt Damon and Zac Efron, to go along with pacts previously given to Steve Carell, Leonardo DiCaprio and a few others. It has become reminiscent of those days when the studio had a star stable with the likes of Kevin Costner, Mel Gibson and Clint Eastwood (who, amazingly, is still there). Brand will have a modest deal, but Warner Bros apparently hasn't lost faith in...

I seem to be one of the few who didn't think that yesterday's Get Him to the Greek trailer was the funniest thing since 'Man Getting Hit in the Groin by Football,' but that doesn't mean I don't have a soft spot for Russell Brand. After Forgetting Sarah Marshall, how could you not? So I'm happy to see that Warner Bros. has pieced up a pitch by William and Scott Bindley that may well star Brand as a David Beckham-type soccer star who ends up coaching a high school soccer team in West Texas. Having gone to high school in Midland, one of the very "Friday Night Lights towns" referenced in the source article, I like this idea a lot. If the comedy can get the regional stuff down, something the feature Friday Night Lights more or less managed, this could be a great little comedy. [Dhd] After the break,...

As community service, he's forced to coach the local high school's rather inept soccer team in a town dominated by American football. Brand, Bill Bindley, Nik Linnen and Mike Karz will produce.

Another full casting couch again this week. So much casting news to report ranging from 3 British dudes to Alicia Silverstone actually getting a role.
First up, Deadline Hollywood Daily is reporting that Warner Bros. has purchased an untitled pitch from William and Scott Bindley, which has Russell Brand attached to star. Brand will portray an eccentric soccer superstar who gets arrested in football-happy West Texas. The judge sentences him to a unique form of community service: he has to coach the pathetic high school soccer team…Lame!
Our boy Colin Firth is always snagging roles these days and even has an Academy Award nomination this year. Now he is teaming up with fellow Brit, Matthew McFayden in The Promised Land. The movie is a crime thriller set in British-ruled Palestine towards the end of World War II.

There have been countless films with big actors leading a hapless sports team struggling against seemingly insurmountable odds to get to the championship and learn what sportsmanship is all about. Will Ferrell did it recently in Kicking and Screaming, but I don't think anyone did it better than Emilio Estevez as Mighty Ducks coach Gordon Bombay. Now Deadline Hollywood reports Russell Brand will take a crack at it as he's attached to a pitch as a David Beckham-like millionaire soccer star/playboy who gets arrested and must do community service coaching the high school soccer team in a Friday Night Lights-esque town.
