The series was originally ordered at Amazon back in January. Jenkins is the first confirmed cast member. The show is described as “an interlocking universe of crime stories” based on the graphic novels by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips.
Jenkins will play Ivan. The character is described as “Leo’s dad’s best friend, and has always been an uncle figure to him. He used to be a robber and criminal, but is now currently suffering from dementia. Leo is trying to care for him but realizes he’s more work than he can handle.”
Jenkins is a highly-respected actor with the rare ability to do comedy and drama in seemingly equal measure. He received Oscar nominations for his performances in the films “The Shape of Water” and “The Visitor...

Marvel has tapped “Star Trek: Picard” executive producer Terry Matalas to resurrect Vision, the synthezoid played by Paul Bettany, for a new, untitled Disney+ series set for 2026, Variety has learned exclusively. Bettany will return to the role and Matalas will serve as showrunner.
After Vision died at the hands of Thanos in 2018’s “Avengers: Infinity War,” he returned twice over in 2021’s “WandaVision,” first as a spectral creation by his beloved, Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), through magic powered by grief; then as a rebuilt, nuts-and-bolts android with a ghost white appearance and zero memory of his past life. When the two Visions battled in the “WandaVision” finale, Wanda’s Vision restored the ghost Vision’s memories, then Wanda allowed her Vision to fade from existence. The new show will take place after those events, as ghost Vision presumably explores his new purpose in life.

Rachel Dratch made her first appearance on Saturday Night Live October 23rd 1999. It was a bit part—she played Ally McBeal star Calista Flockhart in a parody of an MSNBC panel show—but Dratch killed it so hard that she was asked to bring the same impression back the very next episode. Already on her way, a week later she and Jimmy Fallon brought down the house in the first “Boston Teens” sketch.
But as she reveals to Mark Malkoff, Dratch’s rocket ship to SNL royalty had a slower start than it seemed to viewers watching at home at the time. In fact, she spent her first two episodes on the job without a single sketch making it to air.
Needless to say, Dratch quickly made up for lost (air)time, enjoying a legendary seven-year run on the show, and returning to cameo a whopping 14 times.

You know, the tendency for rich white conservatives to manipulatively manufacture controversies that they are facing insidious, widespread prejudice and existential threats where none actually exist. Well, Donald Trump’s supporters found a real doozy this week, as their chosen leader seized upon a supposed “shoot to kill” order contained in the 2022 search warrant for Trump’s Florida golf club and classified documents repository, Mar-a-Lago. Except that—and this may shock you—the guidelines about “use of deadly force” in the legal document is boilerplate FBI language used in every search warrant.

They’re like my kids and I love going to work.” Patrick McElhenney/FX While they couldn’t share much, Olson, who plays Dee “Sweet Dee” Reynolds, says,...

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for The Good Doctor series finale.] Freddie Highmore‘s Dr. Shaun Murphy will always be out there somewhere helping people heal. That was the main message The Good Doctor creators wanted to deliver in the May 21 series finale, and they did that through a time jump that revealed how Shaun and Dr. Claire Browne’s (Antonia Thomas) careers evolved after the events of the finale — and what memorable events they were. Shaun was determined to craft a miraculous solution to Dr. Aaron Glassman (Richard Schiff) and Claire’s cancer cases, but Glassman refused treatment. Rather than spend his final months undergoing potentially painful medical procedures, Glassman chose to make the most of the six months he had left. Since he was leaving his job because of his prognosis, Glassman performed Shaun and Charlie’s (Kayla Cromer) non-Fda approved experimental treatment on Claire. Glassman no doubt lost his medical license because of this,...

The FCC is considering a new rule that would require the disclosure of the use of artificial intelligence in political ads — while the agency would not prohibit AI-generated content.
FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel on Wednesday announced a new agency proposal that, if adopted, would look into whether radio and TV broadcasters, cable TV operators and satellite TV providers should be required to disclose when there is AI-generated content in candidate or issue-oriented political ads. The agency’s regulatory purview in this area does not extend to online streaming services.

Tom Brady’s Netflix roast included jokes about the end of his marriage to Gisele Bündchen, his alleged use of plastic surgery and the Deflategate scandal, but no comedian roasted the NFL icon for once kissing his son on the lips.
A 2018 documentary about Brady went viral that year for footage of Brady kissing his 11-year-old son Jack on the lips. Brady was mocked on social media as a result and the moment sparked a larger debate about parents’ affection for their children, especially because he asked for a second kiss from his son after saying the first one was just a “peck.

Even as it faces a full-court press from investors curious to know if it will retain rights to show games from the NBA, Warner Bros. Discovery has been courting sports from a different field.
Warner Bros. Discovery has struck a deal with rival ESPN, according to two people familiar with the matter, that will have the former sub-licensing a small number of college football playoff games over a five-year period starting later this year. TNT will be the lead media network for broadcast of two first-round games this year and next, and then will add two quarterfinals starting in 2026.
The deal surfaces as Warner Bros.

Days of our Lives’ Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans) will appear on the acclaimed Max dramedy Hacks on Thursday, May 23 as a heightened version of herself. Hall will play the mother of Jimmy, whose portrayer, Paul W. Why don’t we see if we can get Deidre.’ ” Though the show had been recommended to Hall, she hadn’t had a chance to watch it yet, but quickly became a big fan. “When I told one of my best friends,...

David Letterman’s Emmy-nominated Netflix series will be back in short order… with a curiously short order.
My Next Guest Needs No Introduction is set to return for its fifth season with just two episodes. A just-released trailer (below) reveals Letterman’s two guests will be musician Miley Cyrus and former basketball player Charles Barkley.
The two-episode season breaks Netflix’s usual release pattern for the series, and comes after an extended break.
Most recently, Letterman released a standalone episode of the show in April, in which the host interviewed comedian John Mulaney. Prior to that, the show’s most recent episode was a December 2022 special with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman debuted in January 2018, releasing 7 episodes across the season, each a few weeks apart.
Season 2 consisted of 5 episodes all released at once, with another bonus episode dropping a month later.

The world was shocked when gymnast Simone Biles withdrew from numerous events during the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics — especially considering the fact that she was the clear front-runner for several gold medals. However, at the same time, Biles was struggling with her mental health. Rather than push herself to the brink, she decided to withdraw from the competition. Four years later, Biles has unfinished business, and upcoming doc series Simone Biles Rising offers an intimate look at the story behind it all.
Directed by Katie Walsh with executive producers Gotham Chopra, Ameeth Sankaran, Giselle Parets, and Janey Miller with Religion of Sports (McGregor Forever) in association with the Olympics Channel, the four-episode series chronicles Biles’ preparations to resume her position at the top.

Sasha Pieterse wishes Alison Dilaurentis and Emily Fields (Shay Mitchell) had gotten a happily ever after. In the Pretty Little Liars spinoff series, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, Alison and Emily get divorced, which was a dagger into the heart of the Emison fandom. In an interview with TV Insider, Pieterse revealed her thoughts about Alison and Emily’s fate. “I was super, super, super, super bummed with that storyline. I’m an Emerson shipper, and I was bummed that that’s the direction that it went in,” Pieterse said. “Again, in my universe, in my world, not only would the divorce not have happened, but I just see them being together and being such a good family. I think because of everything that they had gone through, it would never be that easy to separate. I feel like they have been through so much that they would work through things.
