Illegal Tender (2007)
Pretty good most of the time
I liked the movie, it is pretty good most of the time. It is a nice surprise because you don't find many movies about the Puerto Rican gangs and the roles are done by Hispanic actors.
Stereotypical sometimes, but you have nice acting, specially when Wilson Jr. has to shoot for the first time. He is trembling and scared what everybody should be after some bad experience.
The mom does a good acting trying to be protective and hard at the same time.
It is a good movie, a bit different from the rest of the movies you usually watch about the mafia.
Trainspotting (1996)
Disgusting and bad
Looking at this movie more than ten year later do your realize that it was very bad them but you didn't dare to say so because everybody was raving about it.
I didn't like it and I don't like now, it is a complete lie and full of nonsense, specially the way the main character goes into heroin and cleans himself... if you have had the bad luck of knowing junkies, you know it is don't true.
The movie is repulsive and try to make a lot of shocking scenes, one after another, like a Tarantino movie, and the end, when he betrays his friends, but it is shown as the right thing to do.
Never Die Alone (2004)
Too clean
It is not a bad movie, compared to other movies with the same characters, it is better filmed but the character is made too likable in his dirty business.
He is always clean, well dressed, no remorse for anything, doesn't look like a person, but like a robot. He gets anything he wants with little effort, too easily. He is never scared
It is OK, when you are bored but for it is too clean and not very realistic depiction of the life of real dealers.
The journalist is not very well made, it looks sleepy all the movie and he is never in the movie.
Shopping (1994)
Very bad movie
The problem of making movies directly from recent news it that these movies become dated very soon. Shopping is one of this movies, and trying to be "actual" to the nineties makes that the characters now are seen as a caricatures. They look like a bunch of whiny kids trying to be bad. Anyway, It was a good try. Not as bad as Trainspotting but in the same line. When some directors try to make "social" cinema the results can be annoying or amusing, and in this case is more amusing than annoying.
Watch the movie, but don't take it seriously. I give it an one, just for comedy purposes.
Miami Vice (1984)
Funny and witty 20 years later
I used to watch this show about 20 years ago. It used to be a drama, but now it is funny and you can watch almost as a comedy. Good show , if you want to know what the eighties were about.
The fashions, the attitude, the hair style. Sports cars, Ferraris, classic cars, mullets, blazers, pastel colors, everything is make to shock you.
If you like eighties music you can find it. You can even find musicians like Phil Colling there. IT is very funny to check for cameos and look for stars when they were young like Julia Roberts and John Leguizamo, and famous people like Lee Iacocca.
Don Johnson was very famous for his role as a undercover cop, it is a pity that Philip Michael Thomas, his partner didn't act in any movies later. AFter 20 years I still enjoy listening to the music and watching the show. Whoever lived in Miami in the eighties can probably relate to the different stories they filmed. Thank you for the sleuthtv channel.
