Guiding Emily (2023)
One of Hallmark's best! Heartfelt and Inspiring from beginning to end!
The story of Emily, a career woman and natural leader with a love for outdoor adventure, whose eyesight is taken in a freak accident that turns her world upside down. From a bright, optimistic, and headstrong woman, who struggles with changes and her own self-doubt, to climbing out of her personal hell and finding love again, the story packs a lot of emotion into 2 hours. Emily's boyfriend Connor, who struggles with changes and is unable to adapt, further adds to the emotion early on. Drew is Emily's employee, who refuses to let her give up, and eventually gets her whole team involved in rebuilding her life.
In parallel to Emily's story, is the story of Garth, a puppy and new guide dog in training, Garth meets Emily by happenstance early on, and through his own personal journey, their paths cross throughout the story, and Garth's voice always telling him that Emily is his person. When Garth meets Emily for the second time, he senses a change, and even the strongest will shed tears.
Emily's friends and co-workers rally around her to build her confidence and get her back to being the strongwilled woman she was, including Matthew the local owner of a rock climbing business who won't let her give up and helps her regain her confidence again with the help of her neighbor and young friend Zoe. One of Hallmark's best and packed with emotion, this movie will inspire you from beginning to end!
A Picture of Her (2023)
A story that makes you feel good, with great characters
Wow, what can I say? Rhiannon Fish and Tyler Hynes have great chemistry together, creating believable and relatable characters and bring the story to life! Rhiannon seems to be Hallmark's new IT girl and with each new movie, each new character she's quickly becoming a favorite, creating must see movies!
Unlike most movies with a repeatable theme, the story centers on a candid picture, taken anonymously that go viral, and the growing bond between two people who are both keeping something close to their hearts, and subsequently from each other. As trust builds and a bond is formed, in typical fashion a series of events and misunderstanding leads to another twist, ultimately setting up a feel good moment to end the story... for now. Tyler seems to get all the unforgettable roles lately, it's hard to miss with Tyler in the lead! It's nice to see more variety from Hallmark, less, kitschy and predictable, with a few twists to bring new characters to life. Who knows? Maybe the story has a chapter two?
Moriah's Lighthouse (2022)
Good feel good story with local charm
I enjoyed the movie immensely. The characters were believable and there's chemistry in the french sea air everywhere! Rachelle Lefevre's Moriah reminds me of Belle in Beauty and the Beast, carefree, charming, headstrong, and beautiful. Luke Macfarlane is the perfect match and plays the part of an American out of his comfort zone perfectly. The supporting cast of characters adds a little charm to the story, and lets you escape to another place and feel like you are there. The whole story transports you to someplace I can only dream of, a place where everyone and everything fits like a perfect sweater!
I'm an avid Hallmark movie fan, and I am grateful for feel-good, family-friendly stories and strong characters. I tend to ignore things like accents, imagery, and find myself attracted more to the build up to what is a classic Hallmark ending! This is the type of story that keeps me coming back - I know where it leads and endings as somewhat predictable, but the escape makes it all worth it and the stories keep expanding from the typical hot cocoa, cookie contests, tree-lighting, Festival of Lights that we are all tuned in to for the holidays.
I hope we get more of Rachelle in the future - she's refreshing and a good fit for her own Hallmark franchise!
Color My World with Love (2022)
Heartwarming, Inspiring, and an absolute Tearjerker!
Wow! What can I say about Color My World with Love that hasn't already been said. The storyline, the setting, the backstories, and cast were all 5 stars and the performance by Lily D. Moore and David DeSanctis had me experiencing onion tears throughout. The scene in the bridal shop, where Kendall reminds the rude clerk that "everyone needs love" was so real and heartwarming! Equally charming was the backstory of finding love again after losing hope. Benjamin Ayres and Erica Durance are quickly becoming two of my favorite Hallmark pairs! Here's to a sequel we all want - maybe a Christmas story?
Conan: One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Dead Fish (2010)
I am the unknown surprise guest on this episode
Little known fact, I make a faux pas during the opening monologue while sitting in the front row. Conan proceeds to call me out, and in the next segment I recover and get an ovation from Conan himself.
Conan's earliest work on TBS is some of his best work and this show is a great example of the freedom he had with TBS that others do not get from the Big 4 networks.
The Quick and the Dead (1995)
Any movie that Leo dies in is destined to be a classic
Every time I watch this, it gets a little bit better. Cheesy the first time, a bit over the top but Gene Hackman is a real a**hole in this film, and Leo gets killed so you have a lot to root for.
