Not BOB. Not The Pacific. So what?
27 January 2024
Impossible not to compare it to Band of Brothers or The Pacific, but hell, The Pacific wasn't Band of Brothers either but well worth the time. I thought the first episode was great. A little Hollywoody in places and I'm sure the detail pickers will have issues, but it had me on the edge of my seat. If I wanted a documentary I'd go elsewhere. I think the gist of the story is conveying the almost hopelessness of what these men were facing. By the end of the first episode, I kind of got that already. Argue all you want but Butler is a star. Looking forward to more episodes. When will the one about the Submarine war be made?

Try It, You'll Like It
22 February 2023
Didn't expect much after reading many of these reviews, (some seem weirdly personal), but was surprised how funny I thought it was. It's not Seinfeld or MASH of course but not even close to some of the lame shows (I'm looking at you Night Court), but all I can suggest is try it because it's a pleasing cast, yes Joel McHale is pretty much Jeff Winger 2.0, but what's wrong with that? It kind of reminded me of Community in that I actually laughed out loud a couple of times and am looking forward to more episodes. Give it an opportunity, it won't be the first time a show that actually is funny gets canceled, but I plan on enjoying while I can.

What happened?

I don't get it either. Is it the writing? Acting? Direction or editing? All of the above? Compared to any other season or variation of the Law and Order series, season 21 falls flat on its face. If so many fans of the series notice the same, why don't the people who make it see it? Weird.

Giving it a chance
2 April 2022
Pilot episodes only go so far in telling how good a series will be. Not a whole lot to offer so far, not a lot of laughs. Typical sitcom semi-yucks with a little "serious" story thrown in and a not too intrusive laugh track. But hey, it's about bowling (sort of, Holmes isn't the most convicing potential pro bowler), but it's different. Fingers crossed it gets funnier.

What?
24 March 2022
Wow. Started out ok, but by the end of the first season I'd pretty much lost interest. The whole "Eighties" thing was way underdone (and over talked about) and the show itself seemed to be written to Jr High schoolers. If Jr High Schoolers liked plot holes big enough to drive a truck through.

Not bad. Not great.
10 February 2022
Definitely uneven, but entertaining and bingeworthy I thought. The last episode when Reacher is wearing an ill fitting Army dress uniform, but needed a shave got me though. Not to mention the marksmanship of the good guys vs the lack of for the bad guys in the final fight scene. C'mon. It's the details!

Worth it
14 January 2022
Hilarious those who call this version uneeded or unecessary considering how many times this story has been done. A little shallow in spots sure, but Scotts doing the Lee J Cobb at bit the end was worth the price of admission. One of Jack Lemmons final roles (for me) also.

What Happened?
2 January 2022
Love Thompson and Redd on SNL, so maybe I was expecting more. One of the few shows I've seen that would benefit from a laugh track. It's just not that funny. Plus, I can't stand shows when children talk like 40 year old tv writers.

Gave up.
30 October 2021
Stopped watch for two reasons. One is the lack of semi credible right wing guests which ties into the second reason. WILL SOMEONE TELL THE AUDIENCE TO STOP STEPPING ON THE PUNCHLINES. I don't need to hear the audience applaud every joke. We know we all agree. If I wanted to watch a political rally I'd go elsewhere. It's supposed to be comedy also, but the applause kills the joke every damn time.

Americas Got Talent?
4 September 2021
Should be titled "America Is Running Out of Talent". Average singers, card tricks or groups of kids jumping and stomping in unison is usually all there is. Usually pretty tedious, unless you take a drink every time a judge uses the word "amazing".

What happened?
30 August 2021
Impossible not to compare to the old show, but still, this version is a little much. First of all, too many grandkids and then Becky has one too? They add nothing to a 22 minute show. Lose them I'd say. (And the name Bevery Rose? Please.). Also, why not make the Darlene character gay? The old show had gay characters who were believable (and funny), as opposed to Sara Gilberts character, who isn't. Don't really need a love interest for John Goodmans character either, and who decided to make Laurie Metcalfs character overplay everything should be fired. The show used to be warm and funny and realistic. Now it's just occasionally funny.

Kevin Can F**k Himself (2021–2022)

Gave it a shot.

We get the point. Hot put upon wife, dumb husband, blah, blah, blah. "Over the top" works in small doses, but this much of sitcom portion just makes me want to fast forward. At least try and make the sitcom portion somewhat plausible (or cut out 80 percent of it) An Alice Kramden or Carrie Heffernan character trying to kill her husband? THAT would be interesting.

Yeah. We get it already.
10 July 2021
We know. We get it. It's not SUPPOSED to be funny. The point is it's not supposed to be uninteresting and boring either. Between the sitcom bits and the incessant AMC commercial breaks, it's a half hour show stretched into an hour.

So far just ok
9 July 2021
It would be better if the sitcom part was less gratingly horrible. I find myself wondering why the people who make this show are spending so much time on the "funny" part, when fast forwarding makes more sense. A little contrast (with actual humor) wouldn't hurt. Seems a little lazy and takes away from the dramatic portion of the show.
