Ricky Stanicky (2024)
Very funny movie. Cast especially John Cena shine
Ricky Stanicky is a very funny film with a great cast. The entire cast is excellent and John Cena really gives a great performance. His character makes you laugh a lot, cringe but also really feel for him William H Macy was great. Zac Efron was wonderful. Zac Efron and John Cena were a great duo .It's hilarious with a simple plot and a good bit of Raunchy humor. It may have one too many sex and penis joke but it was great. It had a lot of heart too. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was excellent to watch when having a rough day it just made you laugh and smile. I enjoyed it a lot and would watch again.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Poorly written and edited movie. A depressing ending. Skywalkers and Solos deserved better.
A poor edited and inconsistent story that is a depressing end to the story. The movie creates inconsistency to the story the first two films awesomely created. The editing was awful. There are times when you can see a character's mouth moving but no words come out like they cut the dialogue or cut scenes together. There are times hand placement is off and hair length or style off. A lot of this made the rumors of the script and story constantly changing while filming look true as does the rumors of the release of the Visual Guide Book and Kylo Ren comic being pushed back because they chopped the story together and changed it at the last minute. It's like they chickened out, listened to outside interference and changed the trilogy outline. The final film had a lot of plot holes, inconsistent story and horrible dialogue. The message of the force is for everyone was kicked out the window and Rey having to be from a bloodline was created instead of her being just Rey was enough. While the characters of Finn and Poe got more screen time in this one it just lacked character growth and purpose. Finn, Poe and Rey had more scenes together then in the previous movie but the connections were off. They lacked chemistry and emotion. They didn't feel like a found family or even "the trio". Finn really lacked a character arch other than action and yelling another character's name. The Finn and Poe connection was off. It's like the connection was off so they wouldn't have to address the chemistry fans saw and to appease viewers or critics they had two background same sex characters embrace. Chewie with the medal should have been a great moment but unlike the dice scene in previous films lacked the symbolism and felt like a cheap nod. The saving aspects of the film are the action and Adam Driver's performance. He might not have any lines in second half of the film but he is a very expressive without words. The conflict and turmoil his character goes through is beautifully played. He continues what the force awakens and Last Jedi started which is: a man struggling with the abuse and manipulation he suffered in childhood that caused him to turn dark but the light in him won't die. The most emotionally satisfying scene is between Han and Ben and it's wonderfully played by Driver and Harrison Ford. Driver is impressive as Kylo Ren but he is even better as Ben Solo. The few minutes we get to see him as Ben Solo is everything you would want and expect from an offspring of Han and Leia or a "Solo" movie. The other bright spot and one consistent thing in the trilogy is the magic of Adam Driver and Daisy Ridley onscreen together and connection and balance of their characters together. Kylo/Ben and Rey are truly stronger and better when together. The true balance of the force and there is a balance between the light and dark. Their fight scenes were like a dance. Rey as the aggressor doing the attacking and Kylo/Ben dodging and defending. Their teaming up is something the movie needed more of. Other than that the movie was messy. It lacked creativity, and hope. The ending was depressing. Three generations of Skywalker men neglected, given up on, manipulated and abused to eventually turn those things around only to have the entire family wiped out. It's like the sacrifice Han and Leia made was for nothing. The ending lacked balance. I thought these trilogy would not end like original that it would be its own ending with balance in the force and actual growth but it didn't. But unlike original trilogy this one felt empty and was not hopeful. It was unsatisfying and depressing. The end of the trilogy deserved better and more maybe there should have been a fourth to fix this or give more time to tell the story because this ending was unsatisfying I'm still waiting for someone to yell April fools or tell me I got punked.
Playing with Fire (2019)
Great movie. Fun for whole family. Enjoyable without having kids.
Playing with fire is an awesome movie. It is just a lot of fun with great performance. John Cena and Keegan-Michael Key are hilarious. Brianna Hidebrand is great. The most fun and laughs I had at the movies in a long time.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)
One of the best in franchise. Sophie Turner and Michael Fassbender give phenomenal performances
Dark Phoenix is one of the best in the X-Men franchise. Great Character showcases. Amazing action sequences. Sophie Turner is incredible as Jean Grey. Sophie Turner gives a phenomenal performance as does Michael Fassbender. These two along with James McAvoy are perfect in their roles
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
One of the worst if not the actual worst TV finale in history
The finale was unsatisfying and uninspired. The show left many plots thread to dangling and many things they had given hints or foreshadowing to actually went nowhere there was no twist no anything really. It seems like Jon Snow's character ended after season 6. He essentially became a shell of himself things he would never do or never tolerate he tolerated he essentially became a lap dog and his parentage reveal was not even a story for him at all. His entire story with Daenerys was cringe-worthy and pathetic it didn't maybe with any emotion but what the frek happened to Jon Snow The character bran should have gotten more development for what his endgame was going to be. His master of coin was a horrible choice and The Book Song of Fire and Ice being used was incredibly cheesy never getting to see the pack together or actually working together was a huge letdown this season lacked many emotional Beats and that was done in order to focus on Daenerys. This finale makes lost Sopranos and Dexter look like phenomenal endings
Game of Thrones: The Bells (2019)
saw this coming for years badly written though
Maisie Williams and Kit Harington did a great acting job in The Bells with just there facial expressions. The destruction and scenes of the innocent were nicely done. Lena Headey did a wonderful job with the very little she was given this episode. Cersei was SEVERELY under used in the final season and that is horrible. Daenerys going dark and evil not mad was always coming the signs were there for many seasons especially seven but because she started out good and likeable it's shocking plus the execution was not great. I am truly disappointed that unless there is a surprise they made Jon and Tyrion both fools, morons and too sacred or stupid to try and stop this back in season seven. BUT NO ONE but Daenerys is responsible. No secrets being told. Not Varys,Not Sansa,No Jon, Not Tyrion. Not Cersei. Daenerys .
Bunnicula (2016)
Fun,wonderful cartoon for kids and adults
I really enjoy this cartoon. it's fun and wonderful for adults and kids alike. Great characters and humor it's funny, cute and little spooky. I wish they play it more regularly on TV and have more merchandise available cuz it's so awesome.
Suicide Squad (2016)
Awesome movie. I hope there is a sequel and spinoffs.
Suicide Squad is an excellent movie. The cast give phenomenal performances. The characters are compelling and unique and seeing them begin to develop dynamics and relationships is fantastic. The movie is dark, compelling, action packed with unique characters and humor. Will Smith made Deadshot proud. Margot Robbie is a standout as Harley. Jared Leto is amazing as joker. A dark, twisted with humor and complex take on the iconic character that is realistic and harks back to the joker of comics. I find the Joker and Harley relationship a highlight and one I wanted to see more of. I really hope they do another Suicide Squad movie and hope we get a solo Harley/Joker movie.
The Fault in Our Stars (2014)
One of the best love stories and movies in years
The Fault in Our Stars is a beautiful and thought provoking movie. The story centers on two young adults Hazel and Gus who without giving too much away have been battling cancer since they were little. The story is from Hazel's point of view. The movie is based off a best selling book. For fans of the book, well every fan is different but it was one of the most faithful and best book adaptations. In fact the movie actually ends better than the book. It gets the final lines just right. It may not be the ending I wanted after falling in love with the characters of Augustus Waters and Hazel Grace Lancaster. The movie is about life, love, friendship, family, humor, living with a cloud over your head and death. It has a lot of humor and a lot of heart. It is well written and acted.
Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort are perfectly cast as Hazel and Gus. Both give powerful performances. They are both amazing and gifted actors. Shailene and Ansel's on screen chemistry is natural, beautiful and phenomenal. They make Hazel and Gus not only one of the most memorable movie love stories in decades but two of the most likable and memorable characters to hit the screen.
Before this movie I was familiar with Shailene Woodley and knew she was talented so it was Ansel Elgort who really blew me away in this movie. Gus is such a remarkable character. You fall in love with him and his humor and his spirit. He is more relatable and memorable than Lloyd, Duckie, Landon, Noah, etc and Ansel brought Gus to live perfectly. His performance will make you laugh, and cry like a baby.
This movie is worth checking out more than once and is not just a movie for young adults.
It's one of the best love stories and movies in years.
The Hunger Games (2012)
Jennifer Lawrence shines as Katniss. Great book adaptation
The movie is excellent. Jennifer Lawrence gives a wonderful performance and shines as Katniss. Woody Harleson was perfectly cast as Haymich. Katniss is a strong likable hero. She is manages to mix being strong, caring and distant with being vulnerable and caring. I loved the relationship between Katniss and her sister and also between Katniss and Rue.I like self deprecating/humorous characters. Pacey Witter is my favorite example of that. Twilight's Jacob has it, Damon from Vampire Dairies but for some reason it's not endearing with Peeta. He was blah to me and at times annoying.I am a romance nut but cringed at the peeta/katniss stuff. I like movies and books were the good guys live, win and have happily ever after. I don't get the sense I'll be happy by the end of this series but I'm rooting for Katniss and District 12.
Love's Unfolding Dream (2007)
My least favorite in the series
I have enjoyed this hallmark movies series of movies. All eight of them and have liked how the movies changed some things from the books. The changes were good. But this one was just OK to me. I adore Scout Taylor-Compton as an actress but didn't really enjoy her in the role and at times appeared more child like and bratty then a strong young lady wanting to be a doctor. Also I never warmed to Drew. I didn't feel chemistry between the leads.I just couldn't buy or get into the supposed love story of Drew and Belinda. Erin,Victor and Dale were great to see back though. The movie was just OK and out of the movies and the prequel this would rank as my least favorite.
Hiding Out (1987)
Excellent movie. A favorite. Cryer&Gish sweet and wonderful together.
Hiding Out was an excellent movie. A very underrated film and a guilty pleasure movie of mine. It has drama, suspense, thrills, romance and comedy. Keith Coogan is wonderful in his supporting role as cousin Patrick. John Spencer's small role was nice. Rewatching this movie on DVD recently I was surprised to see The View's Joy Behar in a small role as well. Hiding Out is a well acted and scripted movie. Annabeth Gish is lovely as Ryan and had wonderful and sweet chemistry with Jon Cryer. Ryan and Max's first date at the rollerskating ring is one of my favorite date movie moments. The soundtrack is great too. Pretty Poison's Catch Me I'm Falling and KD Land and Roy Orbson's Crying were incredible. This is my favorite Jon Cryer role and movie. Very entertaining.
Remember Me (2010)
Excellent movie. Emilie de Ravin and Robert Pattinson shine in talent and chemistry.
I went to see Remember Me today and was highly impressed. It is an excellent movie. The movie is a lot of things but mainly for me it was a compelling love story, and an engaging family drama about two families who have suffered tragedies and never truly recovered.
Emilie de Ravin really shines as Ally. She is a phenomenal actress. Emilie is quite the scene stealer and I hope to see her in more films. Emilie's scenes with the talented Chris Cooper were a highlight for me. Chris plays a cop and over protective father who has dealt with his family tragedy by being overbearing, silent and at time drinking.
Emilie de Ravin and Robert Pattinson have incredible sizzling on screen chemistry. Ally and Tyler's love story is one to remember.
Robert Pattinson is surprisingly good as Tyler. I say surprising because I didn't know if he would escape playing Edward Cullen but he has. Pierce Bronsan is good as Pattinson's distant and cold father. He adds depth and heart to a character who can come across as unfeeling. Lena Olin and Ruby Jerins are good in supporting roles. Ruby Jerins in fact was sublime and another scene stealer. Her scenes with Pattinson were wonderful.
I read some reviews saying the ending was appalling but even though it wasn't the ending I would have liked to have seen. It was well done. Touching and Tasteful.
I highly recommend this movie.
The Time Traveler's Wife (2009)
Wonderful Romantic Drama
The Time Traveler's Wife is a wonderful romantic drama. At least in my opinion it was. I really enjoyed this movie. Rachel Mcadams and Eric Bana have phenomenal chemistry together. I hope to see them paired again in other films. They are wonderful together. They do great work as star crossed lovers.
It contains alittle science fiction with the time traveling aspect but that's treated more like a medical problem and you have to suspend believe in some of those situations. It's more about the regular every day relationship problems and the really extra ordinary ones two soul mates have to go through. Older Henry meeting a childhood Clare could be creepy but it is nicely played by Bana and the young actress. Knowing the future or what you are going to lose in the past or future is horrible and gut wrenching. The movie is romantic, touching and at times sad. For me I loved this movie. I prefer happy endings and not sad ones but for me this is a great romantic drama.
The Happening (2008)
Good movie. Loved Wahlberg&Deschanel
When I go to the movies I don't always agree with critics or other people's reviews. Critics can rave about a movie and I see it and don't like it. They could trash a movie and I love it. A movie can have so much hype then I see it and think that's it? And sometimes I agree so I can only say everyone needs to make up their own minds. I can only speak for myself but I liked The Happening. I have also enjoyed the filmmakers other movies: Sixth Sense,Signs and The Village.
The Happening has the quietness and relationship aspects (like the Village) which I loved the most and the creepy what's going on, message that Signs did. Some of the dialog had campy humor but overall I enjoyed it.
I loved the Philadelphia scenery and references to things currently going on in the city, like the newspaper headline being Killadelphia (referencing the city's crime/murder problem) and seeing the usage of the city's newscasters.
The quietness, the creepiness and the what's happening fear played very well and like an old time movie. Some of the deaths scenes had me closing my eyes. One of the things I enjoyed the most was the Elliot and Alma relationship, which they were having problems but truly love each other, and I wanted to see more of it. I think Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel did a great job.
For me the happening is a great movie.
Serenity (2005)
Phenomenal film and incredible acting
Serenity is a phenomenal film.
The acting is incredible. Nathan Fillion (as Mal)and Summer Glau(as River)really shine but the whole cast is excellent. Adam Baldwin brings the muscle and funny as Jayne, and Gina Torres and Alan Tudyk as Zoe and Wash are awesome. There are nine wonderful characters in this movie that you want to get to know and see more of. I don't want to give any spoilers away, just want to say that the writing, directing, acting, music and fight scenes in Serenity were extraordinary. You don't have to be a fan of the TV show to enjoy this movie, my friends are proof of that.
I highly recommend Serenity to any movie-viewer.
The Village (2004)
Excellent movie. Phoenix&Howard shine
The Village is an excellent movie. Those who want another Sixth Sense or a horror movie maybe disappointed but it is still a great movie. My only complaint would be that I wanted to see more of Lucius and also more of his relationship with Ivy.
The Village is a wonderful and intelligent story with thrills, romance and characters you care about, especially the characters of Ivy and Lucius. Joaquin Phoenix and Bryce Dallas Howard give stellar, standout performances and have phenomenal chemistry together. Judy Greer, Adrian Brody and Cherry Jones give great supporting performances.
I give The Village a rating of 10. It is a great film.
13 Going on 30 (2004)
Excellent movie.Garner&Ruffalo are charming
13 going on 30 is excellent movie. It uses the old romantic comedy and Big formulas but updates it in a wonderful way. The script is good. It is fresh and funny.
The young actors playing young Matt and Jenna are perfectly cast as well. The movie also plays an awesome homage to the music of the 80s, including a hilarious dance scene.
Jennifer Garner, better known for drama and action, has great comedic timing and energy. She gives a great performance in this movie, as does Mark Ruffalo and the rest of the cast. Mark Ruffalo plays the overlooked sweet guy next door and he plays it very well. Ruffalo and Garner have phenomenal chemistry.
This is a sweet movie that sound not be missed.
Underworld (2003)
Wonderful movie. Cool, slick, sexy and alittle romantic
Underworld is a wonderful movie. It is cool, slick and sexy. Alittle romantic too. I was hoping for more with the love story but what they did with it was appropriate and awesome.
Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman did wonderful work and have sizzling chemistry. The action scenes were cool. The plot was good, as were the characters. The history and back stories were very cool and you really felt for the characters of Selene,Michael and Lucian.
I enjoyed this movie. I liked it better than Blade or Matrix but that's just my taste. I think everyone should make up their own minds. I personally loved this movie and hope they do a sequel.
Alex & Emma (2003)
Great romantic comedy
Alex and Emma was a great romantic comedy. The movie has lots of humor. I laughed alot. It also had some really sweet moments. Luke Wilson and Kate Hudson were wonderful in their roles. I hope to see them do more romantic comedies. Both are incredible. I recommend Alex and Emma for those who enjoy a good romantic comedy movie.
The Lizzie McGuire Movie (2003)
Fun family movie.
"The Lizzie McGuire Movie" is a fun family movie. I think people of all ages can enjoy this flick. The plot is pretty good, interesting characters and the acting is good too. It's your typical family movie. It's a feel good movie with lots of comedy and heart.
Where the Heart Is (2000)
Heartwarming movie that is beautifully acted
"Where the Heart is" is a heartwarming movie that is beautifully acted. I read the book and loved the movie. "Where the Heart is" is a wonderful story of friendship, love and growing up. The movie is full of well developed and quirky characters. Stockard Channing, Joan Cusack and James Frain are an amazing supporting cast. Natalie Portman and Ashley Judd are phenomenal. I loved this movie. I enjoyed it in the theater and have since watched it at home many times. Definitely a must see movie.
General Hospital (1963)
The show is going downhill so fast it is in the toilet
Back in September, I thought GH was finally starting to improve but sadly that was a brief improvement and it is now downhill. Soap Operas have similar storylines sometimes but General Hospital only has the same recycled storylines. The show is predictable and boring. General Hospital has a large and wonderful cast including Robin Christopher, Nancy Lee Grahn, Tony Geary, Rebecca Herbst, Leslie Charleson, Billy Warlock, Stuart Damon, Chad Brannon and so many others. Yet General Hospital seems to waste this large ensemble cast and only use them to prop up four characters, known as the drab four (Sonny,Carly,Jason and Courtney) by some fans. General Hospital has turned into a wanna be Sopranos. They hardly ever showcase the hospital or the families. They have backburned older characters or gotten rid of them, like original cast member Rachel Ames (Audrey Hardy). The show now puts down the police and strong women like Alexis, Elizabeth, Monica and Carly. The writing is god awful and the pairings lack chemistry and are forced, especially the pairing of Jason and Courtney. Alicia Leigh Willis's Courtney showed promise in the beginning but without Billy Warlock's AJ the character and actress is a disaster. Nancy Lee Grahn's Alexis was once a strong independent lawyer who is now reduced to dressing like a man to see her daughter. General Hospital is now the worst show. It is appalling.
General Hospital needs to write better for it's women, for the police and for all it's characters. They need storylines about family, love, adventure and storylines that are not about the mob. They need couples with actual chemistry that sizzle like Steve Burton and Rebecca Herbst's Jason and Liz, Zander and Emily or Alexis with either Luke, Ned, or Cameron. Ted King's return as Lorenzo Alcazar is a great move but GH does not need more characters. It needs balance, and great writing.
2 Fast 2 Furious (2003)
Better than the original
2 Fast 2 Furious is a fun movie. It is better than the original. Lots of fun. A great summer action movie with a great cast. The storyline is good and the cast, especially Paul Walker and Tyrese do a awesome job. Also a good supporting cast. Lots of humor and action. A great summer movie.
Spider-Man (2002)
Just ok. Not the greatest comic book movie.
Spiderman was just ok. It's not the greatest comic book movie. I still prefer the original Batman movie, Superman and The Daredevil movie. Spiderman had a few cool scenes but overall I was disappointed. Tobey was pretty good. Kirsten, uhh, liked her in Virgin Suicide, wasn't digging her in this role. Fell flat in my opinion.
