Initially planned to hit Disney Plus in 2023, Dominique Thorne’s Ironheart has sustained several delays since, especially after an underwhelming 2023 slate. But after a noticeably quiet 2024, the next year is jam-packed for Marvel releases. In addition to big screen outings, the cinematic giant will also witness six MCU TV shows, including Ironheart.

Surprises are often the spice of life, yet not all are welcome with open arms. Take the unanticipated release of TV show trailers, for instance, which can cut both ways—a thrill for fans yet a potential headache for studios. As each piece of leaked footage slides into the public domain before its time, it begs the question: does it add fuel to the fire of anticipation or pour cold water on meticulously prepared marketing plans?

Hollywood has never been more affiliated with freedom since the days of its conception. Be it television Westerns, comic book adaptations, or tear-jerking biopics, fans and critics have elevated the status of the entertainment industry into a level playing field where films like Black Panther: Wakanda Forever get as much celebrated and tastefully made as any other award-worthy project.

However, the dark clouds of industry-wide corruption also plagued the film and television industry for quite a long time. The case of Harvey Weinstein in all of Hollywood is now an infamous chapter in the history of modern popular culture. And with his arrest and imprisonment, a veil of secrecy has also been lifted from the industry.

The last time audiences saw Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) in the climax of Anthony and Joe Russo's 2019 film "Avengers: Endgame," he used the six all-powerful Infinity Stones to murder thousands of battlefield assailants. The Stones, however, were so lousy with cosmic energy that they ultimately destroyed his body, leaving him another casualty of the Infinity War. Since that movie, Iron Man has been referenced in a number of Marvel Cinematic Universe films, most notably the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" sequel "Far From Home," wherein Peter Parker longed for Tony's advice and mentorship.
Indeed, the death of Tony was so dramatic that the head honchos of the MCU have been wise to leave it alone. True, death is typically temporary in comic books, but it was tasteful to allow Tony to remain dead. Of course, the same honchos are now working around the death of Tony Stark by casting...

If you want to win an Oscar for Best Costume Design, it’s best to pick a project for which you can create frilly dresses from a bygone era. Since its introduction at the 1948 Academy Awards, this category has favored period pictures, including the 2024 winner “Poor Things.” (Scroll down for the most up-to-date 2025 Oscar predictions for Best Costume Design.)
Voters love to reward the creative forces behind such films, especially those that are about the aristocracy including recent champs “Marie Antoinette” (2007), “Elizabeth: The Golden Age” (2008), “The Duchess” (2009), “The Young Victoria” (2010), and “Anna Karenina” (2013). By the way, none of those films even competed for Best Picture. Indeed, only 20 Best Picture champs also won this award; the last to do so was “The Artist” in 2012.
Among the other double dippers was “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” (2004). Fantasy films such as this often boast Oscar-winning costumes, including 2022 champ “Cruella,...

Black Panther Star Lupita Nyong'o Says "Black Doesn’t Sell" Myth Had Marvel "Shaking In Their Boots"
Black Panther arrived in theaters in 2018, and went on to take in over $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office to become the highest-grossing movie ever featuring actors of color in the lead roles. It was also the first superhero film to be nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
However, there was a perception that Marvel was taking a big risk on the project at the time, and it seems those within the studio were also more than a little concerned about how the movie would ultimately be received.
While speaking about her latest movie, The Wild Robot, at a BFI London Film Festival event (via THR), Lupita Nyong’o was shown a clip from Black Panther featuring her character, Nakia, and Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa, and became emotional when thinking about her late friend.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is (so far) the biggest superhero release this year and the second-highest grossing movie this year behind ‘Inside Out 2.’ Everything that Marvel Studios pitched the movie to be – it turned out being.
It managed to resurrect some of the faith and excitement that fans had in MCU releases, and it earned a ton of money. Deadpool & Wolverine are now officially in the cinematic universe, with Reynolds and Jackman once again being under the spotlight, this year perhaps as Oscar hosts.

Late actor Chadwick Boseman became a global star when he was chosen to play Black Panther in the MCU. Making his debut in Captain America: Civil War, the actor headlined his own solo film Black Panther in 2018, creating a ripple of change in the way Black superheroes were portrayed in the mainstream.
In a recent public event, co-star Lupita Nyong’o mentioned how the executives at Marvel did not trust the film to do well and were apprehensive. She attributed the doubts to the Hollywood myth ‘Black doesn’t sell’, which the Boseman starrer shattered with a $1.35 billion box office and seven Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.

Lupita Nyong’o says there was “fear” among Marvel executives surrounding the release of “Black Panther.”
The Oscar winner said during a BFI London Film Festival event (via The Hollywood Reporter) that Marvel leadership had a “lot of fear” over how the 2018 superhero film would land at the box office. “Black Panther” went on to be a blockbuster film and ignited a cultural movement. It won Academy Awards and spurred a sequel.
“There was a lot of fear, definitely from the executives,” Nyong’o said. “Marvel was shaking a little bit in their boots!”
She added, “We were too because we were like, we only get to do this once. And we gotta do it right.”
According to the “Wild Robot” star, “Black Panther” “totally shattered the myth that Black doesn’t sell.”

The first season of A24 and Prime Video's smash-hit animated series "Hazbin Hotel" ended on February 2, 2024, and while the creative team is hard at work on season 2, the show's popularity hasn't decreased. "Hazbin Hotel" earned the largest global debut viewership for a new animated title on Prime Video, surpassing other hot commodities like "Invincible" and "The Boys Presents: Diabolical." The series doesn't boast the same recognizable IP as its contemporaries, but that hasn't stopped it from becoming a phenomenon. In the months since the season's end, convention circuits have shown that "Hazbin Hotel" has become one of the most popular shows for cosplayers to emulate, fanart floods social media feeds on the daily, but thanks to the death of the monoculture, the popularity often feels like it exists in a vacuum.
I've previously described "Hazbin Hotel" as adult animation, but too edgy for the constraints of something like "The Simpsons.

As most fans know, Black Panther is one of the most beloved characters in the MCU, and both films about the Wakandan superhero were massive successes. However, the second film notably omitted the original Black Panther, T’Challa, portrayed by the late Chadwick Boseman.
After Boseman’s tragic death, Marvel chose not to recast the role. Instead, Black Panther 2 honored the actor by poignantly weaving real-life grief into the story.
The official reason was that Black Panther was such an iconic figure, and they wanted to respect Boseman’s legacy without replacing him.
While this worked within the narrative, the original storyline for Black Panther 2 was quite different. Director Ryan Coogler had to rework his initial script to reflect Boseman’s absence.
In a recent interview, Coogler shared what the original plot was, and surprisingly, aside from the major change, the core story remained largely intact.

As everyone is aware, Black Panther is one of the most well-liked characters in the MCU, and the two films about the Wakandan superhero were enormous hits. Even despite the fact that the second film omitted the character’s original Black Panther, T’Challa, who was played by the late Chadwick Boseman.
Following Boseman’s death, Marvel declined to recast the role. Black Panther 2 and paid tribute to the late actor by skillfully and sensitively depicting the anguish of real life. And while this worked story-wise, as you might imagine, the original story for Black Panther 2 was not like the one we saw. Ryan Coogler had to rewrite his original story to adapt to the fact that Boseman was not there anymore.

Great news ahead of its Nov. 22 opening: Universal’s feature take of stage musical Wicked has posted first day advance ticket sales on Fandango which rank as the retailer’s second best year-to-date behind Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine. Since Universal moved Wicked off the Wednesday before Thanksgiving away from Disney’s Moana 2 and onto the opening day of Paramount’s Gladiator II, there’s been hope by those in exhibition and the industry that another Barbenheimer effect might be at hand at the box office. We won’t know that until it happens. Tickets for Gladiator II went on sale on Oct. 8.

Wicked is also the best PG-Rated first-day ticket pre-seller of 2024 for Fandango and the No. 3 best PG-Rated first-day ticket pre-seller of all time...

One of Marvel's most enticing upcoming projects is the Thunderbolts* movie, scheduled for a 2025 release. While plot details are scarce, we do know that it is going to feature some of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's greatest super-soldiers and assassins, forced to work together to either take down the Sentry or some greater threat. Oh, Bucky Barnes is there as well (Yay!). He is seemingly a Congressman now ( Huh ?). His long hair look is back, too (Yay!).
But super-soldiers and assassins aside, we also have Julia-Louis Dreyfus returning as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (or "Val" for short). First introduced in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, she has slowly been assembling her team, similar to Nick Fury in Phase 1 of the MCU. However, whilst Fury's motives were altruistic and for the greater good, Val seems to be only looking out for herself and has some ulterior motives.

Another year, another money-making Marvel movie in the running to receive an Oscar nomination for Best Visual Effects. This time around it’s “Deadpool and Wolverine,” the third film in Ryan Reynolds‘ R-rated series and the first featuring Hugh Jackman‘s popular “X-Men” character. If “Deadpool and Wolverine” goes on to reap a visual effects bid, it would be the 18th Marvel entry overall to do so, when including those that contended before the Marvel Cinematic Universe officially kicked off in 2008. See them all below.
The most recent addition to the list was “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” (2023), with its tech whizzes losing to the “Godzilla Minus One” team at last year’s Academy Awards. That was actually the third “Guardians” film to earn a Best Visual Effects nom after “Vol. 2” (it lost to “Blade Runner 2049” in 2017) and “Vol. 1” (it lost to “Interstellar” in 2014).

One of the cruelest and heartbreaking moments of Hollywood was when Chadwick Boseman passed away due to colon cancer in 2020. A prolific actor and an even greater human being, his loss was deeply felt by the fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Having portrayed Black Panther in the franchise, he was slated to appear in the sequel to his Oscar-winning film, 2018’s Black Panther.

But having lost his life midway through the production of the sequel, the story inevitably had to be altered, forcing the filmmakers to take an entirely different path.

A test-screening for Black Panther director Ryan Cooger's Depression-era vampire movie, Sinners, reportedly took place last week, and World of Reel has now shared a report on the consensus from those in attendance.
Though major plot details are not divulged, there will be some spoilers from this point on.
First off, the response to the movie seems to be somewhat tepid. While Michael B. Jordan's performance in a dual role came in for a lot of praise, the majority of people who got to see the film felt that it was merely "fine" or "decent." It also seems that initial reports that Jordan is playing vampire brothers were not accurate.
One of the brothers embarks on a relationship with Hailee Steinfeld's character, who sounds like she may ultimately turn out to be a villain.

Speculation surrounding a potential ‘World War Hulk’ movie has lingered for years without any clear outcomes. Recently, Mark Ruffalo disclosed that Marvel Studios never planned to develop a solo film for him, primarily due to intricate rights complications resulting from a prolonged conflict with Universal.
However, the inability to produce a standalone Hulk movie does not preclude the character from evolving within other MCU projects.
Daniel Richtman, a prominent industry insider, recently asserted that the ending and post-credits scenes of ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ are paving the way for ‘World War Hulks’ while also tying into the broader Multiverse Saga.
It seems that connections to both ‘World War Hulks’ and the Multiverse were introduced during extensive reshoots, as the original version of the film did not resonate well with test audiences.
So, what evidence supports this theory? Currently, we only have rumors to rely on since nothing has been officially confirmed.

Rumors about a ‘World War Hulk’ movie have persisted for years without resolution. Recently, Mark Ruffalo revealed that Marvel Studios never intended to produce a solo film for him, primarily due to complex rights issues stemming from a long-standing dispute with Universal.
The fact that Hulk can’t get a solo movie however doesn’t mean that character won’t continue to evolve in other MCU projects.
Daniel Richtman, a notable industry insider recently claimed that the ending and the post-credits scenes for ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is setting up ‘World War Hulk’ and connects more to the Multiverse Saga.

While Marvel Television (the original Jeph Loeb-led iteration) was in charge of Netflix's Daredevil, MCU concept artist Ryan Meinerding was enlisted to design the Man Without Fear's costume.
It didn't feature the iconic "Dd" logo and neither has any iteration of the suit since. In fact, it was still missing when Matt Murdock made his MCU debut in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and, based on Daredevil: Born Again set photos, it won't feature there either.
Perhaps the thought process is that a blind superhero wouldn't need or want to put a logo on his chest. Still, fans remain eager to see it on screen.
In the newly released Marvel Studios: The Art of Ryan Meinerding book, new artwork confirms that at least two different versions of the suit were designed for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law with the "Dd" logo front and centre.

In July 2018, a script for a film featuring the Marvel Comics character Riri Williams/Ironheart, written by Jada Rodriguez, was included on The Black List, but the film was never produced. In December 2020, Marvel Studios announced the development of an ‘Ironheart’ series for Disney+.
Now, three years after Riri’s first appearance, the wait is almost over, as the series is scheduled to be released in 2025.
Not much is known about the show beyond what audiences saw in an exclusive trailer presented at D23.
The footage begins with a scene from ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,’ where Dominique Thorne makes her debut as Riri Williams. The story then transitions to Riri’s life after her internship abroad, where she feels “stuck.” Before being expelled from MIT, Riri expressed her desire to build something undeniable.

Denzel Washington has always been careful about what films he chooses to work on. After becoming widely recognized and openly acclaimed in 1980s dramas like "Cry Freedom" and "Glory," he was officially a Hollywood powerhouse by the time he appeared in Spike Lee's films "Mo' Better Blues" and "Malcolm X," as well as "Philadelphia" and "Much Ado About Nothing." Because he was such a big star, Washington never felt obligated to star in a major action franchise, and he was long insistent on never acting in any sequels, at least not until "The Equalizer 2" in 2018. He tends to want to work with deeply experienced directions he can form a good relationship with. There's a reason he's made multiple films with Lee, Ridley Scott, Tony Scott, and Antoine Fuqua.
That's not to say, however, that Washington is allergic to mainstream entertainments. Like everyone, he's seen the big actioners and...

Marvel had a rough year in 2023. Many of its properties underperformed, and they lost their big villain due to Jonathan Majors being fired. Looking forward to their upcoming slate, comic fans have been excited about some of the studio’s projects over the next few years. Will these films help Marvel regain control? The upcoming Thunderbolts film has been one that fanboys have been hoping to see since the MCU started. With some recent news about the property coming up, it seems like the right time to break down what we know about the production.
Who Are The Thunderbolts?
The team first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1997 in an issue of The Incredible Hulk. They seemed to be a new group of superheroes that had arrived on the scene and gained acclaim very quickly. The reader was informed that the group was actually a group of supervillains led by Baron Zemo.

Thirty-five years after Warner Bros. danced with the devil in the pale moonlight, the studio has added another satanic statement to its storied history courtesy of Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan: “If you keep dancing with the devil, one day he’s going to follow you home.”
That’s the key theme espoused by the first trailer for “Sinners,” Coogler’s first film since “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and his latest collaboration with Jordan following “Fruitvale Station,” “Creed,” and the “Black Panther” films.
Set in the 1930s Jim Crow South, “Sinners” is a supernatural horror thriller where a mysterious terror menaces a small town and its residents – particularly twin brothers (both played by Jordan). Here’s the official synopsis, provided by Warner Bros.:

“Dance with the devil… and he’ll follow you home.”
The first trailer for Black Panther director Ryan Coogler's latest collaboration with actor Michael B. Jordan has been released, and it's not quite what we were expecting!
In Sinners, Jordan plays twin brothers in the Jim Crow-era Deep South who decide to leave their troubled lives behind by returning to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.
The trailer suggests that the brothers will come up against some kind of dark supernatural force, but there's no real indication that either of them - or the threat they face - are vampires, which was previously rumored.
It's entirely possible that Warner Bros. is attempting to keep this particular plot point under wraps, but there's also a chance these early reports were not accurate.
Have a look at the trailer and posters below,...

Ryan Coogler has put Michael B. Jordan in the boxing ring and transported him to Wakanda. Now he is putting him in an entirely new situation in the first trailer for Sinners, the vampire feature coming from Warner Bros.

The trailer ends with Jordan leading a group of people ready to fight as a preacher says, “You keep dancing with the devil, and one day he’s going to follow you home.”

“Sinners” is near.
The new Ryan Coogler film, which stars his longtime collaborator Michael B. Jordan, isn’t coming out until March 7, 2025 and has been shrouded in secrecy ever since cameras rolled. But a brand new teaser trailer, which you can watch below, is enough to give us a good idea of what to expect. And it is wild.
In “Sinners,” Jordan plays twin vampire brothers who return to their hometown in an attempt to start over. Once there, they discover something even more evil has taken root – the Ku Klux Klan (Jack O’Connell plays the evil racist baddie). The movie is set in 1930s Jim Crow South, with production taking place in New Orleans earlier this year — but this being a Coogler film, it’s filled with the kind of rich detail that brings history to life. And the concept both feels fun and cool while also rich enough...

Acclaimed actor Michael B. Jordan will reunite with director Ryan Coogler for their latest film “Sinners,” set for release next March. The supernatural horror movie takes place in the 1930s American South and blends historical elements with otherworldly forces. Jordan and Coogler have collaborated successfully on several previous projects together including “Fruitvale Station,” the “Creed” franchise, and Marvel’s “Black Panther” films.
Details about the plot remain vague, though trailers show Jordan portraying a bootlegger from the World War I era who encounters strange happenings he can’t explain. His character warns in a voiceover “I ain’t seen no demons, no ghosts, no magic – till now.” The community faces a sinister threat while the precise nature of the danger stays mysterious. Scenes depict terrified residents fleeing and a preacher cautioning that associating with evil will lead it to follow you home.
The all-star cast also includes Delroy Lindo, Jack O’Connell,...

Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan have proven to be an extraordinary team, and yesterday Warner Bros. took to social media to confirm that the first trailer for their next big project, Sinners, would be unleashed today. When Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan join forces, magic happens. The duo's prior efforts are all certified bangers that helped skyrocket Jordan to superstardom and earned Coogler the distinction of being behind the highest-grossing film of all time by an African American director. While Marvel has been struggling to get their "Blade" movie off the ground, Coogler and Jordan swept in to make the new vampire flick "Sinners," which horror fans have been thirsting after for months. Warner Bros. has kept details about the film pretty close to the chest, but with a logline floating around online and some paparazzi photos snapped of Jordan in period-attire, "Sinners" is rapidly ascending its way to the top of my list of most anticipated releases of 2025. Here's the logline:

Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan’s fifth collaboration has been shrouded in secrecy since it was announced in January. Now eager film fans are getting their first look at “Sinners” — and all its bloody goodness. The film opens March 7, 2025 from Warner Bros.
The highly-anticipated horror thriller is based on an original script by Coogler, with the project set in the 1930s Jim Crow era-South and filmed earlier this year in the New Orleans area. But beyond those basic details, everything about the project — from the title to its plot — had been kept under wraps. Then, on Monday, the supernatural thriller was announced to be titled “Sinners.” Later, Jordan shared the film’s poster on social media, with the caption, “Dance with the devil…and he’ll follow you home.”

Marvel Studios' attempt at assembling its own "Suicide Squad" took a big step forward today with the first trailer for "Thunderbolts*" -- and yes, we're just as curious about that asterisk as everyone else is. However, one thing that Marvel fans seemingly don't have to be curious about any longer is who has taken over ownership of Avengers Tower after Tony Stark sold the New York City skyscraper during "Spider-Man: Homecoming."
For a long time now, many have assumed that someone like Norman Osborn or Victor Von Doom had taken over Avengers Tower, setting up some kind of reveal for a future Marvel movie where a new version of Green Goblin would take shape, or the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first iteration of Fantastic Four's arch nemesis gave himself an upscale lair. Instead, a different kind of shady individual seems to have taken over Stark's fancy pad: Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine.
