Steve Carell is reuniting with Tina Fey and Universal Television.
The Office grad has closed a deal to co-star in Netflix’s The Four Seasons, the update of the 1981 Alan Alda feature film of the same name. The role reunites Carell with Tina Fey after the duo starred as a married couple in the 2010 movie Date Night.

Production on the series is slated to begin later this year. The original film, written and directed by Alda, revolves around three couples who take vacations together each season and explores the changes in the group dynamic when one of couples splits up and the man brings a much younger woman on subsequent trips. Nicole Richie has been a “diehard fan” of the 1991 cult comedy “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead” for as long as she can remember.
“I’ve been quoting this movie my whole life,” she says.
And now, life has come full circle because the former “Simple Life” reality television icon stars in director Wade Allain-Marcus’ “Don’t Tell Mom” remake as fashion company boss Rose.
The new film stars Simone Joy Jones as Tanya, a 17-year-old whose summer plans are upended when her mom (“Ms. Pat” star Patricia Williams) checks herself into a health retreat. Things completely unravel when the babysitter, played by Oscar nominee June Squibb, hired to take care of Tanya and her siblings suddenly dies.
“When I heard it was going to be a remake, I was like, ‘What does this mean?’” she says. “So I jumped on a Zoom with Wade and he was like, ‘This...

In a move that will give hope to fans of canceled shows everywhere, Netflix picked up the discarded Peacock series Girls5Eva for a third season. The series, which premiered in 2021, stars Sara Bareilles, Paula Pell, Busy Philipps, and Renée Elise Goldsberry as former teen pop stars who now want to get the band back together. Created by Meredith Scardino (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt; Great News), the series was one of the flat-out funniest shows on TV through its first two seasons, harnessing the musical-comedic gifts of Goldsberry, finally giving Pell a platform upon which to shine, and discovering that Bareilles is a skillful comedian in addition to being a devastatingly good singer-songwriter.

Casting turnover is the name of the game when it comes to the Law & Order franchise. Through 23 seasons of the flagship series (and not even to mention the many spinoffs), Law & Order has cycled through dozens of casting combinations in filling out both the “law” and “order” halves of its ensemble.
When Law & Order returned for season 21 in 2022 after a lengthy hiatus, it looked like it had a solid detective duo in place with Anthony Anderson’s Kevin Bernard and Jeffrey Donovan’s Frank Cosgrove. Now, just two years later both actors are gone. Anderson departed after season 21 and Donovan after season 22.
Law & Order season 23 pairs Mehcad Brooks’ Jalen Shaw (who replaced Anderson) with newbie Vincent Riley, played by recognizable face Reid Scott. If you’re wondering who Reid Scott is and what makes him a good fit for this crime drama, don’t worry – we’ve got the answers.

In the case of some TV moguls, it’s instantly clear when they created a show versus when they’re just producing someone else’s work. There’s a marked difference in tone and style, for instance, between ER and the early seasons of The West Wing, even though John Wells was executive-producing both of them at the same time on NBC. (For that matter, the Wells-run later seasons feel like a wholly different show from the ones written by Aaron Sorkin before the two had a falling-out.) Then there...

This past fall, NBC shrank its signature Thursday comedy block from two hours to one, and now the network is opening a new comedy beachfront on Tuesday.
New half-hour series Young Rock and Kenan will premiere in the Tuesday 8 Pm hour on Feb. 16. Sophomore musical dramedy Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, which was relocated to the time slot this season and just launched its second season to encouraging ratings, will go on hiatus after airing six episodes and will return later in the spring. It has not been decided yet where the show will return; it likely will be in another time slot as the Tuesday 8 Pm hour will be occupied by The Voice until summer.
The Dwayne Johnson-Nahnatchka Khan’s Young Rock and Kenan Thompson starrer Kenan will air in the Tuesday 8 Pm hour through the end of May, finishing their orders. That is when The Voice’s...

Kevin Ryder, who spent 30 years at Kroq-fm as one-half of the popular “Kevin & Bean” morning drive show, is launching a daily YouTube series that highlights positive stories in the news.
In his first official gig since Kroq fired him in March, Ryder will partner with Mike Catherwood to host “Great News with Kevin & Mike” starting January 4. “Great News” will be distributed as both a video series on YouTube but also as an audio podcast. The show is reunion of sorts for Ryder and Catherwood, who spent several years as a board operator on “Kevin & Bean” and regularly appeared on that show.
“I really connect with those stories that there are still good people out there, and still doing good things, and if everybody was like that, this life would be a lot better,” Ryder said. “There are endless stories. You just have to look a little bit. It’s just...

The thing about going back to high school is that it’s never the same as you remember. Nor should it be, given the amount of personal growth and development you’ve hopefully had in the years since graduation. Taper your expectations though, and taking a stroll down memory lane can leave you embracing the fond memories you experienced while recognizing all the ways in which you now, perhaps, know better.
That appears to have been Peacock’s strategy in reviving “Saved By The Bell,” the 1990s-era teen comedy where problems could be solved in 22 minutes, high school archetypes were readily available, and the kids had unwieldly power over bumbling authority figures. Was the original show fun escapism on a Saturday morning for the kids of its generation? For sure. A lot has changed in the almost 30 years since Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and the gang from the original “Saved by the Bell” graduated from Bayside High School. Not only is he now the governor of California within the world of that show, but the school itself has gotten a major upgrade for the new Peacock series, courtesy of production designer Joseph Lucky.
Iconic original sets including the Bayside hallway corner, principal’s office and the Max diner have been painstakingly re-created — often, Lucky says, by using screenshots as references because the original sketches have been lost to time. “Trying to mimic someone else’s work [Ken Johnson designed the original] isn’t as easy as it seems, so the challenge there for me was to actually get it right and then to put my touches on it,” he explains.

Nostalgia, Don Draper once pointed out, derives from a Greek word for “pain from an old wound.” Television is awash in nostalgic revivals, reboots, and reunions, but they’re borne out of a far more recent pain: the difficulty any program or streaming service has getting your attention in a 500-show universe. If a new title can’t get noticed, best to bring back an old one. CBS All Access dusted off Jean-Luc Picard, after already launching with a Star Trek spin-off, Star Trek: Discovery. Most of Disney+’s programming...

If you’re a TV viewer of a certain vintage (like me), Saved by the Bell imprinted on you at an early age, whether you liked it or not. (In our defense, there wasn’t much TV to choose from back then.) Yes, the cheesy ’90s high school antics of Zack, Kelly, Slater, et al do have a certain nostalgic allure… but they were never “good,” really. So it’s a nice surprise that the Saved by the Bell revival — debuting Wednesday, Nov. 25 on Peacock; I’ve seen three episodes — is actually, surprisingly good: a cleverly constructed, highly tongue-in-cheek reinvention...

Per TBS, “Set in the year 1844, the new season of ‘Miracle Workers’ will follow an idealistic small-town preacher (Radcliffe) who teams up with a wanted outlaw (Buscemi) and a liberated prairie wife (Viswanathan) to lead a wagon train west on the Oregon Trail across an American landscape which, much like today, is fraught with both promise and peril.”
