Lisa Turtle peels herself away from her lovers (plural) just long enough to grace us with her presence in Peacock’s Saved by the Bell revival. The same can’t be said for her onetime admirer Samuel “Screech” Powers, whose glaring absence is addressed in the big homecoming episode.

Dustin Diamond is the latest Saved by the Bell cast member to speak out on not being approached to appear in the upcoming revival.
The actor, who played Samuel "Screech" Powers on the original series, told TMZ that nobody has reached out to him about appearing in the Peacock series.
“Out of all the cast members, I was in… the most [episodes], and that’s not the case anymore if I’m not in the new one,” Diamond said.
“And how do you have Saved by the Bell without Screech, right? … We should all be a part of this.”
Diamond even offered up a pitch of what Screech would be up to in the new series:
“Screech should be dealing with parenthood and dealing with his kids, and finding out that… maybe he wasn’t a barrel full of roses to deal with growing up.”

In its special episodes, Saved By The Bell wasn't afraid to get real. Or kill ducks. All together now, "I'm so excited! I'm so excited!..."
Saved By The Bell wasn't just Zack and Slater having a dance off. Yes it was. However, the show also tried its hand at a number of 'very special episodes'. These typically featured problems encountered by all teens at some point, like drinking half a can of beer, dead ducks, and getting off your tits on Pro Plus.
I grew up watching Saved By The Bell, and thanks to its teachings I am a well adjusted individual. Not like those weirdos who only ever make one joke about how they're a bit odd, and everything they ever write is a rubbish variation of that joke mixed in with jokes about Bungle.
Let's have a look at how Zack, Josh, Twinkie and Billy...

Lifetime’s “Unauthorized Full House Story” pulled in 1.6 million viewers during it’s debut on Saturday. That puts it on par with “The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story,” which also drew in 1.6 million viewers when it premiered on the network in 2014. However, the “Unauthorized” peek into the behind-the-scenes drama between John Stamos, Bob Saget and the rest of the sitcom’s cast fell well below other Lifetime original movies, like the Whitney Houston biopic “Whitney,” which captured 4.5 million viewers when it aired in January. Who, exactly, was clamoring for a biopic about the origins and backstory of Full House, the ABC sitcom that garnered huge ratings, spawned catchphrases, and introduced the world to the Olsen twins? It's entirely possible that the movie was greenlit in reaction to the news that Fuller House, a continuation of the series focusing on eldest daughter D.J. Tanner (Candace Camerone Bur), will premiere on Netflix in 2016. Or it's possible that, after the success of The Unauthorized Saved By the Bell Story, Lifetime sensed an opportunity to keep the nostalgia-fueled train going.

"The Unauthorized Full House Story," debuting August 22 on Lifetime, should be a lot of fun to watch -- or, if it's bad, to hate-watch. Despite the grumbling among fans who watched last year's "The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story" (whose scriptwriter, Ron McGee, also wrote Saturday's "Full House" movie), Lifetime is banking on these "Unauthorized" backstage tell-alls to drive ratings among nostalgia-minded viewers. (Coming in October: "Unauthorized" movies about the original "90210" and "Melrose Place.")
It doesn't matter that a lot of these showbiz TV biopics aren't very good, or feature unknown actors who bear little resemblance to the celebrities they're playing, or offer few genuine revelations from behind the scenes. By now, the format is a time-honored ritual, hitting specific beats along a familiar plot arc (usually a cautionary tale of rise, fall, and maybe redemption). Quality is almost beside the point. Do the Olsen twins means business? You got it, dude.
At least, that's the case in a new clip from Lifetime's The Unauthorized Full House Story, a tell-all TV movie that delves into the alleged behind-the-scenes drama of the wildly popular '90s show Full House and its cast.
In the exclusive clip, some serious negotiations go down between Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's representatives and the show's executives regarding how much the twins – who shared the role of Michelle Tanner, youngest daughter in the show's San Francisco family – will get paid.
"What kind of renegotiations for the twins?" asks a weary executive.

Zack Morris won't be celebrating any time soon. Lifetime's The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story failed to capture an audience on Labor Day, premiering to just 1.6 million total viewers during the 9 p.m. telecast. For comparison's sake, that's less than half the audience tuning in to Flowers in the Attic sequel Petals on the Wind, which earned 3.4 million in May, and Lindsay Lohan's critically panned Liz & Dick, which drew 3.5 million. Unauthorized skewed young, averaging 1.1 million among the 18-49 and 25-54 demos. The two-hour telepic, which had

Lifetime's “Unauthorized Saved by the Bell” story premiered on Monday, but not to any critical acclaim. “Is ‘The Unauthorized Saved By the Bell Story' the worst movie that has ever been made for television? Or is it secretly genius, and we were too tired from our Labor Day barbecues to notice?” Daily Beast writer Kevin Fallon wrote in his piece panning the 2-hour drama based on a 2009 memoir written by Screech actor Dustin Diamond. “Or maybe, just maybe, ‘The Unauthorized Saved By the Bell' is just plain atrocious.” Also read: ‘Saved by the Bell’ Casting Director on Returning for the Movie,...

Lifetime aired its highly-anticipated movie The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story last night, and one thing is pretty clear by the credits: It was a hard knock four years for Screech (Dustin Diamond). Narrated by Bayside High School’s resident geek — and loosely based off Diamond’s 2009 tell-all Behind the Bell — Unauthorized puts Screech in one corner and his pretty-preppy co-stars (Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Lark Voorhies, Elizabeth Berkley and Tiffani Thiessen) in the other. For two hours, we watch Diamond yearning to be hotter, edgier, drunker (yup) — and the whole thing is really, really depressing.
Now, it’s not just Screech screeching. Unauthorized delivers the Saved by the Bell behind-the-scenes dish we were hungry for. The highlights: Gosselaar (Zack Morris) had to touch up his own roots before taping the first episode; Berkley (who played Jessie Spano) wanted to research and meet real drug addicts...

On Monday, September 1, Lifetime ushered in a new generation of unauthorized biopics with its behind the scenes look at what really happened on the 1990s hit Saved by the Bell. The cast has largely disavowed themselves from the project and/or Dustin Diamond’s scandalous memoir Behind the Bell, and considering that the movie is based on that biography, it’s safe to say most of the things that happened in this movie didn’t really happen that way at all.
But still, we watch. We learn. We cringe. We tweet.

It's been 25 years in the making, and it's finally here: Lifetime's Unauthorized Saved By the Bell movie aired tonight, and we spent two full hours of our Labor Day subjecting ourselves to it. Was it good? No. Was it bad? That's a harder question to answer, but only because 'yes' has more letters in it than 'no,' and typing is hard after all the cookies we've eaten today. We will say, however, that we enjoyed watching it immensely, and that enjoyment was only mostly due to the excellent music (Oh hey, Bell Biv DeVoe). The Unauthorized Saved By the Bell Story told the scandalous tale of everything that apparently went on behind the scenes over the course of four seasons, from...

Lifetime went behind the Bell on Monday and unveiled what (allegedly) happened behind the cameras of our favorite childhood sitcom. But instead of Zack Morris running the show, this time it was all about Screech — and the story from outcast Dustin Diamond's perspective.
The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story, based on Diamond's tell-all memoir, began with the gang -- Dylan Everett as Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Sam Kindseth as Diamond, Tiera Skovbye as Elizabeth Berkley, Julian Works as Mario Lopez, Alyssa Lynch as Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, and Taylor Russell McKenzie as Lark Voorhies — pulling up to their first mall tour unaware their lives were about to change.

Casting director Robin Lippin has a long list of television credits to her name, but her time on “Saved by the Bell” and all of its spinoffs made her uniquely qualified to work on Lifetime's movie, “The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story.” In addition to “Saved by the Bell,” Lippin has cast the miniseries “Attila,” “Lizzie McGuire,” and Lifetime's “Petals on the Wind” and “Blue Lagoon: The Awakening.” But, her work on the iconic Saturday morning series was special to her and she doesn't take the opportunity of returning for the movie for granted. “As a casting director, you rarely.

Come Monday night, we can relive the early '90s with Zack Morris and the rest of the Saved by the Bell gang once more with Lifetime's TV movie premiere of The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story, which follows six then-unknown actors and their rise to fame while starring on the show. While we'll witness the Bayside High crew back together (with a new starring cast), there's one thing we'll miss seeing in this updated version: the show's original costume pieces — Screech's signature suspenders and Lisa's funky hats included. "Well, one thing is, we can’t copy what Saved

"It was a little bit before my time. I was born in '95 and the show ended around '93." Anyone else feeling super-old after reading that quote from Dylan Everett aka Mark-Paul Gosselaar's younger self in Lifetime's TV movie The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story, which exposes all of the alleged behind-the-scenes drama of the iconic '90s sitcom? Yes, we chatted with the new Zack Morris, and his costars Tiera Skovbye (playing the role of Elizabeth Berkley) and Julian Works (the new Mario Lopez) about the highly anticipated movie, based on Dustin Diamond's explosive tell-all, and after we got over the realization that we are now basically senior citizens, we got the scoop on the...

Zack Morris, A.C. Slater, Jessie Spano and Mr. Belding better listen up -- because the stars of Lifetime's new film about "Saved by the Bell" say they've got nothing but love for the classic TV show.Premiering on Labor Day, "The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story" dives into all the behind-the-scenes drama for the beloved sitcom, but original series stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Elizabeth Berkley and Dennis Haskins have all expressed concerns about how they'll be portrayed in the flick. But they've all assumed the film is based on Dustin Diamond's book "Behind the Bell" though, which Lifetime tells us is not the case. They also say Screech is not an executive producer on the flick, despite reports suggesting otherwise -- and add that the show's original casting director, Robin Lippin, worked with them for the script. The new film's Zack and Jessie, played by Dylan Everett and Tiera Skovbye,...

Lifetime and horror aren’t really synonymous with each other–unless you count the many “abused woman on the run” films the channel used to show. Even still, the network has been known as “television for women,” with their programming gearing towards light romances. However, women love horror too, and since Lifetime has been expanding their portfolio in many different ways, including with unauthorized and/or scandalous biopics, such as “Liz and Dick” and “The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story,” the network probably decided it was time to branch out into other areas. Hence their decision to revisit “The Omen.” Lifetime has ordered six episodes of “Damien,” a sequel-of-sorts to “The Omen.” [ Read More ]

Dennis Haskins, better known to '90s TV fans as Mr. Belding from "Saved by the Bell," is none too pleased with the upcoming Lifetime movie about the behind the scenes drama on the syndicated series, and lashed out at those responsible for flick -- including onetime Screech, Dustin Diamond.
In an interview with TMZ, Haskins offered a litany of complaints against the production, chief among them that the movie is mostly fictional.
"I was there. I know what happened and didn't happen. And there wasn't time for a lot to happen behind the scenes, because the kids went to work in the morning, and then I came in at noon, we went to work in the afternoon, they were in and out of school, that kind of stuff," Haskins told the site.

The first 5 minutes have been released for the Lifetime movie The Unauthorized Saved By The Bell Story. The purpose of the movie is to expose the challenges that these kids faced while growing up under public scrutiny, at the same time they were trying to maintain the squeaky clean image of their characters on and off screen. The film is told from the point of view of Dustin Diamond, who played Screech in the classic 90s TV series. The movie is based on the actor's book Behind the Bell.
The scene you are about to watch takes place in 1990 Cincinnati with the young Saved by the Bell actors riding in a limo to an event. While they are riding they are unsure of the reception they'll receive. Of course, that all changes when they start to drive through a mob of screaming teenage girls.

To drum up more anticipation of what looks to be a rough-looking movie, Lifetime just released the first five minutes of The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story. Maybe the release is intended to manage viewer expectations, because after watching the poorly-scripted "fighting" scene, the poorly-scripted "nervous anticipation" scene here at the beginning doesn't seem quite as jarring. Anyway, the most important thing that we learn is that this movie is told from Screech's (Dustin Diamond) perspective. Which means that the plot lines we hoped to see in the movie — Mario Lopez's rape accusation, guest appearances from "Tori Spelling" — better be in there since Diamond dished about them all in his tell-all Behind the Bell.Watch the clip below:...

It looks like Lifetime has decided to start school a little early this year.
Before its premiere on Sept. 1, the network has released the first five minutes of the highly anticipated and already much-talked about The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story. After barely giving us a real trailer, releasing the opening sequence on Facebook is an interesting way to capture viewers’ attention. Before the full title credits roll, we meet Zach, Screech, and the whole gang in a limo en route to what appears to be their first big public appearance after the premiere of Saved by the Bell.

Well, at least Bell Biv Devoe’s “Poison” is percolating in the background.
There, we said something nice about the first teaser trailer for Lifetime’s The Unauthorized Saved By the Bell Story — a pastiche of groan-inducing dialogue, clichéd “they only smiled when the cameras were on” plot lines and visual reminders of just how much the average telephone has shrunk over the last two decades.
The other big take-away: Apparently, Mario Lopez perspired profusely prior to transforming himself into a shiny, secretion-free host-bot. (A sweaty teenager?! Shocking!)
