The 2023-24 television season started without several of the most prominent daytime talk shows: the syndicated The Drew Barrymore Show, The Jennifer Hudson Show and The Kelly Clarkson Show and CBS’ The Talk. They are now expected to return for new seasons by the second week of October.
The Kelly Clarkson Show‘s delay was attributed to the program moving from Los Angeles to New York, which required the building of a new set. Meanwhile, The Drew Barrymore Show, The Jennifer Hudson Show and The Talk postponed their September 18 season premieres amid backlash and picketing by the WGA as the three programs, along with The Kelly Clarkson Show, are guild signatories.

Sherri Shepherd’s daytime talk show, “Sherri,” is shaking up its executive ranks, setting a new senior producing team ahead of its second season.
The inaugural season of the top-rated freshman show carried over the production staff from “The Wendy Williams Show,” which was replaced in its time slot on the Fox stations by “Sherri” when Williams’ show ended in 2022. Now, Shepherd’s show has parted ways with some of Williams’ top producers, who helped launch “Sherri,” which has been renewed through 2025.
“Sherri” hails from Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury, the same company that was behind “The Wendy Williams Show” for its 13-year run.
Fernita Wynn has been promoted to showrunner and executive producer on “Sherri;” Joelle Dawson-Calia has been upped to executive producer; and Siobhan Schanda and Dan Fitzpatrick have been elevated to co-executive producers. All four producers were part of “Sherri’s” launch. They will all work alongside Shepherd, who is executive producer and host,...

Seven years ago, pioneering film and TV producer Debra Martin Chase was thinking about leaving Hollywood.
The first Black woman to ink an overall deal at any studio, she’d produced such genre-defining hits as “The Princess Diaries,” “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” and “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.” While getting projects about women and people of color off the ground was never easy, suddenly prospects were stagnant.
“It was at a point where Hollywood just wasn’t interested,” she tells Variety, reflecting on the career crossroads from the living room of her apartment in New York, where she lives while her popular CBS series “The Equalizer” is in production. “You’d talk to people — particularly white men — and their eyes would just glaze over.”
As Martin Chase approached 30 years in the business, her passion was slipping away. She thought, “Maybe this is the universe’s way of telling me:...

Queen Latifah turns 45 today, and she certainly has a lot to celebrate. She’s a beautiful, talented, and award-winning entertainer (two Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Grammy, plus an Oscar nomination for her role in Chicago) with a wicked sense of humor. She’s getting some early awards buzz for her portrayal of Bessie Smith in the upcoming HBO film Bessie (due May 16), so her acting return is on the horizon. However, with Latifah’s second self-titled talk show getting canceled in November — the last episode aired March 6 — it seems like she can’t quite conquer the couch-and-coffee world. She has all the equipment, so what gives?
The Queen Latifah Show’s first run lasted a little more than two years (1999-2001), and its recent reboot barely scraped the 15-month mark. Now, it’s not like the show didn’t have promise: the September 2013 premiere was the highest rated talk...

Brendan Jordan knows how to dance, and apparently he knows how to model, too. The 15-year-old vlogger who recently rose to digital stardom after dancing in the background of a local newscast has become a model for American Apparel.
Jordan became an internet sensation back in October 2014 when he was caught “diva-bombing” to some Lady Gaga-inspired moves behind a news reporter in his hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada. The video now boasts over 3 million views. Jordan’s quick succession to fame has allowed him to appear on The Queen Latifah show, get a shout-out from Lady Gaga herself, and appear at the December 8 DigiTour event in Las Vegas.
Now, he’s the newest, fabulous face of American Apparel’s latest ad campaign. Jordan is seen posing in four different, brightly-colored outfits giving plenty of attitude (his modeling isn’t too shabby, either). The full text from the ad’s...

Ever since Oprah ended her reign as daytime talk show queen, many jumped at the chance to fill in those shoes. This included rapper/actress turned talk show host, Queen Latifah. She has been hosting a reboot of her previous daytime talk show The Queen Latifah Show. The show dealt with issues she felt passionate about, as well as general human interest shows. However, much like the original version it fell short of high enough ratings and was cancelled. Remaining episodes will air through out early 2015. Here is what she had to say about the news that came from late November.
As I look back on it, I’m in shock at how many people have come on the show, supported the show and all the great things. I’ve been able to spend other people’s money to change people’s lives, which is the best thing to be able to do,...

The fallout from rape allegations against Bill Cosby continues. According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC has canceled a family comedy starring the 77-year-old actor. Although the show didn’t yet have a final script, many speculate that Netflix “postponing” its Thanksgiving special with the former Cosby Show star may have helped push NBC to its decision.
Rules of Engagement’s Mike Sikowitz and Shameless‘ Mike O’Malley were reportedly wanted to help write and produce the show, in which Cosby was a father of three married daughters with families. His name has been flooding headlines for the last few weeks after decade-old allegations of his sexual assault resurfaced. At the end of October, Queen Latifah and her team canceled a Cosby interview on The Queen Latifah Show due to the reports. Last week, his social media effort “Meme Me” went south quickly when Twitter users used the campaign to highlight the accusations against him.

Thanks to new allegations of rape against the comedian, Netflix has decided to postpone its planned Bill Cosby stand-up special, "Bill Cosby 77," in which he was to bring his singular point of view and comedy to his favorite topics: relationships, marriage and children. Taped at the Sf Jazz Center in San Francisco on Cosby's 77th birthday, and directed by Robert Townsend, the concert was to premiere only on Netflix on Friday, November 28. It appears that won't happen anymore - at least, it won't premiere on the 28th, unless something changes between now and then. Cosby's publicist has reportedly said the decision was mutual. The special was billed as a birthday celebration for Cosby, who was expected to share "intimate and wildly entertaining stories from his childhood, first loves, and the endless adventure of parenthood.
