Angelina Jolie is criminally underrated in more ways than one. There is absolutely no denying that the actress is gorgeous and created a completely new category of femme fatale in the industry. However, in her beauty and vanity, many seem to forget her talents go far past her looks.

The actress is one of the most skilled and magnificent actresses in the industry, perfectly capturing the true complexities of female emotion, unlike several two-dimensional characters across Hollywood. Films like Girl, Interrupted; Changeling; and Gia perfectly showcase her abilities to play complex characters. At the same time, there is one film where she gets to explore morals instead of layers.

Angelina Jolie is an impeccable and talented actress. Being a household name through her work in Hollywood, she has made a name for herself for so much more than just her acting skills. Being a director and producer after predominantly acting for most of her professional life is not an easy task.

While Angelina Jolie has been lauded for her performances in films like Gia, Girl, Interrupted, and Changeling, her off-screen antics have always put her in the limelight. Everything has been fodder for the paparazzi, from her highly publicized relationship with Brad Pitt to their eventual divorce.
Jolie’s early days were also marred by controversies. She made headlines when she and her then-husband Billy Bob Thornton wore vials of their blood as necklaces. The mother of six now, mentioned that she was not too proud of those days and did not imagine herself as a mother.

Struggles with addiction and depression have come into the limelight since the Covid Pandemic. As they have, so too have the stories that often accompany these events. Director Nadine Crocker took her own struggles as inspiration for her film Continue. When shooting Continue, it was her debut feature. It now releases after her follow-up gig – Desperation Road – a Mel Gibson-starring action flick. Even with the long production schedule, she remains as committed as ever to her story.
When formulating Continue, Crocker wore a lot of hats. She served as the director, lead actress, producer, and writer for the film. She jokes “Sleep? What’s that?” when asked how she finds time for it all. “I think every person in the entertainment business knows – during production – you’re like a zombie person. You can’t wait to sleep and rest, but on the last day, you’re wondering how do I get that back?...

At the height of her fame in the nineties and noughties, veteran actress Winona Ryder said she missed out on “a lot of parts,” including a starring role in the Charlie Kaufman cerebral romantic drama Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (which went to Kate Winslet), due to excessive tabloid and paparazzi attention.
“It was such a brilliant script and [director Michel Gondry and I] were at this little restaurant and people kept coming up to me and there was a random paparazzi guy outside, which was kind of unusual for me, but I just remember [Gondry’s] face, and trying to convince him that this isn’t normal, and I know it’s not normal,” she said in a recent cover story with Esquire.

At the Academy Awards ceremony held earlier this year, Emma Stone was awarded her second best actress Oscar, a mere seven years after winning her first. You might think that winning multiple acting Oscars would be an extreme rarity, but you would be wrong. Stone became the 45th performer ever conferred more than one.
Why do I bring this up? Because if anyone thinks that Angelina Jolie cannot win the best actress Oscar at the next Academy Awards ceremony because she already won once before — in a different category, mind you, best supporting actress, for Girl, Interrupted, which came out exactly 25 years ago — then I’ve got news for you: think again.
Jolie has certainly made a strong case for herself with a daring, tour de force performance as the legendary but troubled opera singer Maria Callas in Maria, the final installment of Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín’s unofficial trilogy...

Exclusive: NBC’s Chicago Fire has cast KaDee Strickland for a recurring role in Season 13. The new season begins Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. on NBC and next day on Peacock.
She will portray Monica Pascal, the new Fire Chief Dom Pascal’s (Dermot Mulroney) estranged wife. As Deadline reported in July, Mulroney joined the popular firefighter drama as Boden’s (Eamonn Walker) successor following his exit as a series regular in the Season 12 finale.
Before Boden was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of the Chicago Fire Department, he had chosen Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) as his successor. The introduction of Dom Pascal would interfere with that plan, and Eigenberg earlier this month shared insight with Deadline as to why Herrmann may pass on the opportunity.
“I want to say he felt like he had the rug pulled from under him because I don’t think [Herrmann] saw what...

Coming later this month from Archie Comics is the one-shot Chilling Adventures Presents: Truth or Dare, billed as an homage to the late ’90s/early ’00s teen horror wave.
This brand new tale is part of Archie’s “Chilling Adventures Presents” anthology series, dedicated to standalone one-shots with the vibe of Creepshow and Tales from the Crypt.
In Truth or Dare, “When new student Trula Twyst comes to Riverdale, her mysterious and quiet nature doesn’t mix well with the squeaky-clean façade of Riverdale High. Tormented by her past and with a keen interest in Behavioral Psychology, she sets her sights on dismantling the traditional high school hierarchy from within. How? By a simple game of Truth or Dare.”
The Archie Comics team tells Bloody Disgusting this week, “This horror one shot is smart, sexy, and for fans of movies like Escape Room, Saw, and Girl, Interrupted.”

When Angelina Jolie announced nearly a year ago that she’d signed on as a producer of the Broadway-bound musical The Outsiders, folks in the theater community could be forgiven for assuming she was merely the latest in a long and ever-growing line of celebrities willing to either raise money or share fame in exchange for a credit in Playbill.
Those folks would have been wrong.

After being blown away by the Prime Video adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel Daisy Jones & The Six, I decided to circle back and read the author’s debut novel, the “tragic love story” drama Forever, Interrupted… and as the story went on, I became more and more surprised that it hadn’t yet received an adaptation of some sort. It seemed ready to be brought to the screen as a heartbreaking and heartwarming movie or TV show, with solid roles for two lead actresses. Well, now it’s getting its adaptation. Glamour reports (via Deadline) that Margaret Qualley (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) and Laura Dern (Jurassic Park) are set to star in a limited series adaptation of Forever, Interrupted that’s coming our way from A24 and the Netflix streaming service.

A Round of Applause is a reality check for audiences about the existential crisis that we all have been facing in modern times. The Turkish drama helps us find meaning in the meaningless activities of the characters. Accomplished actors like Aslihan Gurbuz, Fatih Artman, and Cihat Suvarioglu have added to the charm of the series. Ben Oya has done an excellent job of successfully executing such an absurd theme, which wouldn’t have been possible without the skilled cast. The stars of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny attended their movie premiere at Zoo Palast in Berlin, Germany.
Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Harrison Ford gathered for a group picture as the cameras caught them mid-conversation.
Dial of Destiny will be the final installment of the Indiana Jones franchise and is the only one not directed by Steven Spielberg as director James Mangold takes his place. Mangold’s notable films include Ford v. Ferrari, Walk the Line and Girl, Interrupted.
Last month, Ford received a well-deserved standing ovation that lasted five minutes at the 76th Annual Cannes Film Festival as he said farewell to Indiana Jones. He was also given the Palme d’Or Award at the French festival.
Ford may be retiring from his Indiana Jones role, but that doesn’t mean he’s ready to retire from acting just yet. In a recent interview...

Angelina Jolie had the opportunity to star alongside the likes of Cameron Diaz in 2000’s Charlie’s Angels. But she rejected it for another project, even though she was told the film would boost her career.
Why Angelina Jolie rejected ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Angelina Jolie | Frazer Harrison/Getty Images
Jolie was already on the rise when Charlie’s Angels was in development. Movies like The Bone Collector and Girl,Interrupted were increasing her star-power. Winning an Oscar would only further establish Jolie as an A-Lister. She had the opportunity to add another commercial project to her name with Charlie’s Angels.
The feature already had a star-studded roster that included Lucy Liu, Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz. Given Jolie’s own status at the time, she might have fit right in with the cast. The studio behind Charlie’s Angels believed so too, and tried to recruit the actor.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s first scripted TV series, the Jennifer Lopez-starring action film The Mother and documentaries featuring Anna Nicole Smith and Barack Obama are among the high-profile projects hitting Netflix this month.
At the end of May, the streamer is dropping the Schwarzenegger-starring spy comedy Fubar, in which the former California governor and Top Gun: Maverick’s Monica Barbaro play a father and daughter who discover they’ve each been secretly working as CIA operatives as they’re forced to team up and get to know each other’s true selves.
And earlier this month, in time for Mother’s Day, Lopez plays an assassin who emerges from hiding to protect a daughter she gave up for adoption years earlier in The Mother, streaming this Friday. The Niki Caro-directed action movie also stars Joseph Fiennes, Lucy Paez, Omari Hardwick, Paul Raci and Gael Garcia Bernal and was written by Andrea Berloff,...

Must-watch comedy series, eye-opening documentaries and an expansion of the “Bridgerton” universe are among the noteworthy additions to Netflix this month. May 12 sees the premiere of Jennifer Lopez’s new Netflix original film “The Mother,” in which she plays an assassin lured back in for one last job. And on May 23, the documentary “Victim/Suspect” examines how sexual assault victims too often get turned into suspects when they report their assaults.
“Queen Charlotte,” the “Bridgerton” prequel series, arrives on May 4 while a new season of Tim Robinson’s sketch series “I Think You Should Leave” drops on May 30. And if you missed the most recent season of the niche (but delightful) comedy series “Documentary Now!,” you can stream that on Netflix starting May 9.

Netflix recently announced it would be investing $2.5 billion into South Korean programming. Before Squid Game season 2 comes down the pike, however, the first seeds of that investment will bear fruit for Netflix in May 2023.
Netflix’s list of new releases for May 2023 is highlighted by the May 12 release of Korean series Black Knight. Set “in a dystopian 2071 devastated by air pollution,” this show will follow world-saving deliverymen known as “Black Knights.” Other international offerings this month include Japanese sumo drama Sanctuary on May 4 and Spanish crime thriller Muted on May 19.
Netflix’s domestic TV options this month include Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story on May 4. That will be followed by post-apocalyptic animated comedy Mulligan on May 12 and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s TV debut Fubar on May 25. And for those hoping for “triples,” I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson premieres on May 30.
On the movie side of things, Netflix has an unusually busy month.

I usually avoid watching TV shows that were prematurely canceled. I like stories to have resolution and don't want to invest when I know I won't be getting that. I was surprised when I decided to give "Kings" a shot, but two things won me over. For one, the "Deadwood" fan in me loves nothing more than Ian McShane belting out theatrical dialogue. Second, the premise of the series...

Turkish TV dramas continue to make inroads around the world, primarily in linear and pay-tv slots congenial to these sophisticated soaps, which are generally sold in packages of 100 commercial hours per show. The 2021 SAG nominees for Best Supporting Actress are Maria Bakalova (“Borat Subsequent Moviefilm”), Glenn Close (“Hillbilly Elegy”), Olivia Colman (“The Father”), Yuh-jung Youn (“Minari”), and Helena Zengel (“News of the World”). Our odds currently have Close (37/10) favored to win the award, followed in order by Colman (39/10), Youn (39/10), Bakalova (4/1), and Zengel (9/2).
Close and Colman are the only previous SAG nominees. The two of them vied for the Best Actress award in 2019, with Close (“The Wife”) emerging victorious over Colman (“The Favourite”). Colman is a triple nominee this year, having also earned individual and ensemble bids for her work on the season 4 of the drama series “The Crown.” She shared in...

HBO Max has ordered a two-part documentary about the late actor Brittany Murphy, best known for voicing Luanne Platter in “King of the Hill” and for starring in films like “Clueless” and “8 Mile.” The documentary hails from Blumhouse Television and Pyramid Productions and aims to present a detailed portrait of Murphy’s life, career, and unexpected death amid mysterious circumstances in 2009 when she was only 32. The series, yet to be titled, will work to debunk conspiracy theories and go beyond the tabloid headlines, with new interviews with those closest to Murphy, along with never-before-seen archival footage.
The film is directed by Emmy nominee Cynthia Hill, best known for her 2014 documentary about domestic abuse, “Private Violence,” which premiered the same year in the U.S. Documentary Competition at the Sundance Film Festival.
