NBC’s new medical procedural arrives with an unusual slant. Inspired by the life of late British neurologist and author Dr. Oliver Sacks, “Brilliant Minds” stars “Star Trek” and “American Horror Story’s” Zachary Quinto as a doctor determined to demystify neurological disorders. And he’s got first-hand experience: Quinto’s Dr. Oliver Wolf has prosopagnosia, also known as “face blindness” (just as Sacks did in real life.)
The hour-long series “follows a revolutionary, larger-than-life neurologist and his team of interns as they explore the last great frontier – the human mind – while grappling with their own relationships and mental health.”
Alongside Quinto, “Brilliant Minds” also stars Tamberla Perry Ashleigh Lathrop (“The Handmaid’s Tale”), Alex MacNicoll (“The Society”), Aury Krebs (“Leverage: Redemption”), Spence Moore II (“All American”), Teddy Sears (“The Flash”) and Donna Murphy (“Tangled”). “Homeland” and “Criminal Minds” star Mandy Patinkin is also on board in a recurring role.

The Librarians, which started as a series of three TV movies starring Noah Wyle for TNT in 2004, is heading home, twenty years later.
Earlier this morning, it emerged that The Librarians: The Next Chapter, a spinoff to the series that ran for four seasons through 2018, would air on TNT, rather than The CW, which originally greenlit the show around May 2023.
Deadline can reveal that the show has also been handed a two-season order, which includes a first season of 12 episodes that has already been shot and is currently in post-production, as well as a second season. The first season will premiere in 2025.
The move was a surprise for a number of reasons, most notably that the Warner Bros. Discovery network was returning to original scripted series, after a few years out of the game.
“It all started with a phone call I had with Sam Linsky at TNT. He’s...

Fans of Leverage: Redemption are hoping to hear more about Season 3. Here's an update on when the show will return!
Leverage was a great hit for TNT when it debuted in 2008. The plotline was Nate Ford (Timothy Hutton), a former insurance fraud investigator, bands with a pack of crooks: grifter Sophie (Gina Bellman), thief Parker (Beth Reisgraf), "hitter" Eliot (Christian Kane) and hacker Hardison (Aldis Hodge). The group pulls con games and thefts to bring down the rich and corrupt and give the proceeds to the victims of such crooks.
The show ran five seasons, ending in 2012. In 2021, Freevee revived it as Leverage: Redemption. The plotline was Nate had died and the rest of the team reunited with Noah Wyle as Harry, a former corporate lawyer who had seen the light to help them out. Hodge's movie career meant Hardison was mostly absent with Aleyse Shannon joining as new hacker Brenna.

Amazon is pushing back on a report that suggested Freevee will shut down this spring.
On Thursday, AdWeek reported that Freevee – Amazon’s free, ad-supported streaming service – will be shutting down in the next few weeks, possibly by early April. According to the publication, with the addition of advertising to Amazon’s flagship Prime Video streaming service, Freevee has been rendered redundant.
But an Amazon spokesperson called the report inaccurate, saying in a statement to Gold Derby that “There are no changes to Freevee. Amazon Freevee remains an important streaming offering providing both Prime and non-Prime customers thousands of hit movies, shows, and Originals, all for free.” The spokesperson did not directly address the future of Freevee.

There is a significant change on the horizon for the series.
It will no longer be a Freevee original and has been shifted to Prime Video for the next season.
No reason for the change in streaming home has been given, but it's probably thanks to the devoted audience that has embraced the show since it premiered in July 2021.
Reboots are tricky to pull off, with many imploding once the initial curiosity factor wears off.
But fans have connected with this revamped series, thanks to its featuring many franchise veterans and new characters to tell a different story.

(L to R) Art Acuña, Christian Kane, and Samantha Richelle star in “Almost Paradise.” Courtesy of Amazon/FreeVee
Christian Kane has played essentially the same character in four delightful light crime series. In “Leverage” and its successor, “Leverage: Redemption,” he was Elliot. In “The Librarians,” he was Jake. In this incarnation, “Almost Paradise: Season 2,” he’s Alex. All have some sort of military or intelligence background to prepare them for the current undertakings. Each time Kane’s character is smarter than he looks, does his thing with a grim sense of humor, and is tougher than all he must oppose. Underneath the surface of surly, he’s noble, loyal to his colleagues, and hell-bent on helping whoever needs it. He’s always reluctant to use violence but in just about every episode of each, he has to. And does it well. 180 times, collectively. Yet even after all those cloned outings,...

TV Police dramas like Blue Bloods are growing long in the tooth in the CBS primetime lineup. S.W.A.T. came out of the gate as a strong contender to keep the network’s drama slate strong if older series like NCIS would eventually reach their natural conclusions. Or has it? Competition on the network has become more fierce than ever. Older shows are sticking around longer than expected. New shows, including revivals of older series like C.S.I., are filling out the lineup. Is there room for S.W.A.T. in the future CBS primetime slate?

But he has a solution: The others can come get him! Sophie (Gina Bellman), Parker (Beth Riesgraf), Eliot (Christian Kane), Harry (Noah Wyle), and Breanna (Aleyse Shannon) make excuses and walk out… leaving Hardison to call after them. He can’t take another freeze-dried meal, he insists, plus he’s missed three DC movies (a nice nod to Hodge’s role as Hawkman in Black Adam) and doesn’t even know who’s fighting whom. Everyone, of course, comes back, eager to start...

Amazon Studios has ordered a new Alex Cross series with Aldis Hodge set to portray the titular character and produce.
From Paramount Television Studios and Skydance Television, the series is described as a “complex and twisted thriller” created by producer and writer Ben Watkins, based on the best-selling Alex Cross book series by James Patterson. Deadline reported the project was in development in 2020.
Alex Cross is a detective and forensic psychologist, uniquely capable of digging into the psyches of killers and their victims, in order to identify—and ultimately capture—the murderers. He is brilliant, flawed, and full of contradictions. A doting father and family man, Cross is single-minded to the point of obsession when he hunts killers. He is desperate for love, but his wife’s murder has left him too damaged to receive it.
