In this week’s Saturday Night Live, host Bill Burr played Ralphie, a Boston firefighter undergoing a group stress-management meeting with a mental health professional (played by SNL‘s Heidi Gardner). Though the firefighters — played by cast members Marcello Hernández, Andrew Dismukes and Emil Wakim — initially grumbled about the mandatory session, they gamely took part when Gardner’s character put some Rorschach test examples up on the screen.

Wayne Brady recently took a small break hosting Let’s Make a Deal. In fact, he made a little switch with one of his co-workers on the show. However, the temporary host ended up making an impression despite the brief appearance.
Viewers Have Seen Quite A Few Hosts Over The Years
Wayne Brady took over hosting duties on the show back in 2009. While Brady has appeared on the series’ weekday episodes, he’s also hosted various primetime specials for the show.
The game show first came out in 1963, with viewers seeing a variety of hosts. These have included Monty Hall, Bob Hilton, and Billy Bush. However, fans recently got to see a new, if familiar, host on the show.

Julie Chrisley received some bad news at her resentencing, and her daughter Savannah Chrisley is still “at a loss for words” regarding how things played out.
The 27-year-old has been fighting to turn over her parents federal prison sentencing for tax evasion and bank fraud.
There’s been some headway, as Todd Chrisley’s initial 12-year sentence was reduced by two years and Julie’s seven-year sentence was reduced by a little over one year.
However, Savannah has vowed to keep fighting until they are released, and she’s been doing just that.
In June, the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ordered a resentencing for Julie, which seemed like a win for the Chrisley family.
The September 25 resentencing did not go in their favor as the judge declined to reduce her prison sentence.
The seven-year prison sentence was upheld, and more time was added to the Growing Up Chrisley star’s probation.

Will an animated movie ever win Best Picture at the Oscars? It’s a question many people have asked ever since Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” became the first nominated in the prestigious category 32 years ago. Since then, just two more have been nominated: “Up” in 2010 and “Toy Story 3” in 2011.
In 2020, “Parasite” made history as the first international film to win Best Picture. The victory for director Bong Joon-ho‘s South Korean thriller was a sign that the Academy’s concerted effort to become more diverse had paid off, resulting in new possibilities for what kind of film could claim Hollywood’s top prize.

What’s the deal with observational humor? I know! It’s not observant, and it’s not humor!
Ever since Seinfeld took over the TV comedy industry in the early 1990s, every second-rate stand-up has kept a bad Jerry-Seinfeld-style set in their back pocket that barely gets a swift exhale when they test it out on an audience. While Seinfeld and Larry David made massive fortunes finding the funny in everyday circumstances, the popularization of Seinfeld’s sense of humor led to an epidemic of tedious, trivial comedy trotted out as if it was somehow hip and idiosyncratic for a comic to base their entire routine around whichever national TV commercials were making the rounds that week.
Legendary TV writer and former Saturday Night Live staffer Robert Smigel took note of this tired trend, and when Seinfeld himself hosted the show on April 18, 1992, Smigel had Seinfeld do a Seinfeld impression...

It’s been a banner year for animated movies, with artists using the medium to tell stories about robots, cats, snails and the full spectrum of human emotion. These films are just as bold and boundary pushing as the dramas, musicals and historical epics that are seen as top contenders for Oscars. Yet they aren’t getting the same level of attention from the pundit crowd.
Well, if there was ever a time for things to change, it’s now. Heavyweights DreamWorks Animation and Pixar have launched awards campaigns for “The Wild Robot” and “Inside Out 2,” which are virtual locks to nab best animated feature nominations. But, these movies also aim to break into major categories, notably best picture. And you know what? It shouldn’t be an either/ or scenario. Why not both?

According to Gold Derby’s current combined predictions, “The Wild Robot” is the frontrunner to win Best Animated Feature at the Oscars with 10/3 odds. If it prevails, it would be just the third film from DreamWorks Animation to do so. But the movie may prove to be an even stronger contender than many are expecting.

A Disney / Pixar and Dreamworks Animation key animator who worked for years at the studios has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for sex crimes against young girls. The charges included “complicity in repeated rapes and sexual assaults on minors, human trafficking, and child pornography offenses.”
All his “offenses” were alleged to have occurred between 2012 and 2021 while he lived in France and the United States.
Bolhem Bouchib, 59, was placed on France’s sex offender registry in 2014 after sexually assaulting his partner’s eight-year-old daughter. He was later arrested in 2021 and has remained in prison since his arrest.
Somehow Bouchib continued to work for American animation studios.
Bouchib worked on big hits like “Hercules,” “Lilo and Stitch,” “Ratatouille,” “Up,” and “The Incredibles” before he was added to the sex offender registry. However, he continued to work on Disney and Pixar films, including “Soul,” “Incredibles 2,” “Luca,” and “Elemental” after he was on the registry for years.

I will fully admit that I’d never even heard of The Day of the Jackal until I knew I would have to write this review. I have essentially no experience with the original 1971 novel by Frederick Forsyth (who’s also a producer on this), nor its 1973 film adaptation starring Edward Fox; so I cannot speak to how the series compares to either of those.
What I can speak to is that the show’s main hook of a lone assassin being pursued by an expert intelligence officer is a strong one in and of itself, especially with actors as talented as Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch in the lead roles. I can also speak to the fact that the show they’ve made does not live up to that potential in any manner whatsoever.
What is The Day of the Jackal about? Lashana Lynch as Bianca in The Day of the Jackal...

Until Hulu did the lord's work and brought back Glenn Gordon Caron's "Moonlighting" last year, the series that launched Bruce Willis' career and solidified Cybill Shepherd's had been languishing for seemingly ages in a digital netherworld where its fans could not access it and potential newcomers had zero chance of discovering it. This would've been unthinkable during the show's 1985-1987 heyday, when the live-wire romantic chemistry of its leads and the inventive mystery plotting of Caron and his writers -- who once plunged their "Moonlighting" protagonists into a Shakespearian reverie -- made it must-see television. "Moonlighting" was hilarious, smart and ridiculously sexy.
And just as fast as it peaked, it was gone.
While the rerelease of "Moonlighting" on Hulu confirmed that it was every bit as fresh and funny as we remembered, bringing it all back meant revisiting its untimely demise. How could a show with two dynamic...

The Young and the Restless spoilers for Thursday, October 31, ignore Halloween for the scarier things happening in Genoa City, including Victoria going on a tear against her brother and her ex-husband.
Straighten Up and Fly Right
Victoria (Amelia Heinle) constantly needs to assuage fragile men’s egos. First and foremost, there is her father. God forbid she do anything that makes Victor (Eric Braeden) feel like he isn’t the center of her universe and the best, smartest, kindest man ever.
And then there’s Billy (Jason Thompson). He’s Johnny (Paxton Mishkind) and Katie’s (Siena Mercuri) father, which means he is in Victoria’s life forever. And she has to keep him from falling off the wagon and going back to gambling and chewing gum.
Victoria usually doesn’t care what Adam (Mark Grossman) thinks or feels. But now that he and Billy are locking horns over Sally...

In 2001, Ridley Scott’s Gladiator took the world by storm, leaving a mark on the movie industry with the success it experienced at the box office. Not only did the movie succeed in terms of numbers, but it also won five Oscars along with multiple other prestigious awards. Two decades later, and Gladiator II is poised to make a dramatic entry.
The first movie was based on Russell Crowe’s Maximus, who fought his way up the Gladiator rankings to eventually defeat Emperor Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix), who wanted to eliminate Maximus because his father, Emperor Marcus Aurelius, chose Crowe’s character as his successor over him.

Commodus then kills his father to become the emperor, and orders to have Maximus’ family executed after which the latter finds himself amongst slave traders who sell him to a Gladiator trainer and the rest is history.

Jennifer Aniston has been seen in numerous acclaimed comedy films in her career following her incredible performance as Rachel Green in the sitcom Friends. However, her film The Break-Up opposite Vince Vaughn in 2006 was more unique as it presented an unconventional anti-rom-com approach.

Call it intentional or the strange game of destiny, The Break-Up was pitched to Jennifer Aniston at a time when she was navigating through the much-publicized real-life split from Brad Pitt. But instead of giving her more pain, the Peyton Reed directorial actually proved very fruitful for the actress as it helped her to let go of her past relationship.

Unpopular opinion but rom-coms aren’t always supposed to knock you off your feet and have you deep in thought after the screen turns to black. Sometimes, we just want to curl up and watch a feel-good movie that didn’t do too well with the critics. Jennifer Aniston’s The Break-Up is a great example of such guilty pleasures.

In today’s age of endless content, streaming services, and supposedly “inclusive” storytelling, you’d think TV has something for everyone.
With diverse casts, cultural representation, and bold new narratives, it sure seems that way — at least on paper.
But if you’re part of the crowd that finds yourself rewatching Friends for the gazillionth time instead of diving into the latest TikTok-influenced teen drama, you’re not alone.
(ABC)
Yeah, I know what you’re thinking: “Is she gonna whine?”
Well, isn’t that the trend these days?...

The Young and the Restless spoilers for Tuesday, October 29 suggest the walls are closing in on Daniel, as Chance seems increasingly convinced that Daniel killed Heather, and Sharon remains determined to keep mum.
Come Out, Come Out, Wherever You Are
Sharon (Sharon Case) and Ghost Cameron (Linden Ashby) did such a good job framing Daniel for Heather’s (Vail Bloom) murder that Chance (Conner Floyd) thinks he knows whodunit. At the same time, Daniel admitted to Danny (Michael Damian) that he expects a knock on his door at any moment.
Daniel’s attempts to get Sharon to admit she knows more than she’s letting on have fallen on deaf ears. It seems that instead of a knock on the door, Daniel was intercepted at the Gcac just after Lucy (Lily Brooks O’Briant) departed.

Tyler, The Creator ushered in the Chromakopia era a bit early with a last-minute listening party at Los Angeles’s high-tech Intuit Dome Sunday night, spending over an hour thrashing on a stage of green shipping containers while a crowd of 17,000 fans listened to his newest album for the very first time.

Hayao Miyazaki, the founder of Studio Ghibli, is famous for his pickiness regarding movies and any production in general. Seldom does he watch popular works, and when he does, it surprises fans.
So when Miyazaki was found speaking highly of a Pixar movie, it can’t be treated as a small matter. After all, it is the same man who loves excruciating details in his movies, which take nothing short of years to be produced.

Pixar’s Up was released in 2009 and immediately received acclaim for its animation, themes, characters, emotional depth, and many more aspects. Needless to say, it also caught the attention of Hayao Miyazaki. A segment from a Japanese TV show gave a glimpse into Hayao Miyazaki welcoming Pete Doctor, the screenplay writer of Up, as well as Pixar’s representative.

It’s official! One of the things I’ve been hoping for will happen for Blue Bloods‘ Jamie and Eddie before the series wraps up.
It’s still heartbreaking that we only have a few episodes left with these two and with the rest of the Reagan family, but at least Blue Bloods will get the strong send-off it deserves.
Plus, there still could be a spinoff even if that’s all talk right now (and not the same as more Blue Bloods!)

One Piece anime and manga are worlds apart in quality. Out of the thousand episodes, Toei Animation has hit it out of the park with a few of them and their spectacular animation. As for the rest, the anime fumbles quite a lot. From horrible pacing to altering character appearances, the anime has a lot of discrepancies which makes it fall behind in comparison to the manga. Yet the biggest crime is tweaking the cannon storyline and rules.
Big Mom chases Usopp and Chopper | Credits: Studio Toei Animation
With one scene, the anime broke a prominent rule of the series. These mistakes didn’t go unnoticed but fans are so used to the One Piece anime not reaching the standards, they let it go. However, if we had to list the animation studios’ silliest and most shocking mistakes, there’s no way this moment with the Kin’emon scene is not making it up there.

You could pretty much call any adult who sings with puppets to be strange, but Jason Segel has run with it, once being called “weird” and making a career of it. And judging by Forgetting Sarah Marshall, he’s more man than muppet…
Appearing on Today (with Entertainment Weekly), Jason Segel remembered his time working with Judd Apatow initially on Freaks and Geeks, in which he played Rush-loving drummer Andopolis. It was here that Segel – like so many – was taken in by Apatow, who provided the budding actor with advice that would change his course. “It was a bit of an apprenticeship period, where we literally learned how to write a script. And his parting words to me were, ‘Listen, Jace, you’re a weird dude. The only way you’re going to make it is if you write your own material.’ He was right, and it changed my life.
