Inkheart is a 2003 children's fantasy novel by German author Cornelia Funke. It is the first part in Funke's Inkworld series, the other two books being Inkspell (2006) and Inkdeath (2008). In German, the book titles are Tintenherz, Tintenblut, and Tintentod. The novel was adapted for the movie by American writers David Lindsay-Abaire and Gary David Goldberg.
This is the answer according to the novel: ...it's a funny thing about writers. Most people don't stop to think of books being written by people much like themselves. They think that writers are all dead long ago... In the book, neither Mo nor Meggie think of contacting the author. It's Elinor who uses her connections in the antique book world to track down Fenoglio's address, and she says it was not easy to do.
