Stars: Olga Kurylenko, Clive Standen, Lilibet Butanaseva, Litiana Butanaseva, Nick Moran, Lucy Martin, Peter Franzen, Dominique Vandenberg, Rita Tushingham | Written and Directed by Jesse V. Johnson
Writer/director Jesse V. Johnson opens his latest film, Boudica, on an impressive note. Roman soldiers march through a dark, fog-enshrouded, forest. It’s creepy and ominous as if something unseen is waiting for them. And there is, a group of Druids who kneel, chanting in a clearing. The warrior goddess they hoped to summon doesn’t save them and the legion graphically slaughters them.
Meanwhile, in Britania’s Icini Province, Prasutagus rules alongside his queen, Boudica. Despite having to deal with the Roman occupiers life is good for them and their daughters Bre (Lilibet Butanaseva) and Aife (Litiana Butanaseva; On the Morning You Wake (to the End of the World), The Bay of Silence, The Wheel of Time, Kiddyzuzaa).

Competition breeds innovation, and few industries demonstrate that better than video games. Throughout history, console manufacturers have always tried to convince gamers to use their platforms if they want a truly superior experience. While many more modern consoles have actually delivered roughly the same technical capabilities as their competitors, the Super Nintendo vs. Sega Genesis era happens to be filled with examples of games that were clearly better on one console rather than the other.
One of the biggest console wars ever was the beef between Nintendo’s Super Nintendo Entertainment System (Snes) and the Sega Genesis. The rivalry was epitomized by marketing campaigns that dunked on the competition, claiming that one console was the end all, be all of gaming. This is how we ended up with famous terms such as “blast processing,” as well as timeless slogans like “Sega does what Nintendon’t.” More importantly, we ended up...

You've gotta watch this trailer for the upcoming action thriller Savage Dog, which features Scott Adkins (Doctor Strange, The Expendables II) kicking ass as he embarks on a mission for revenge.
The movie looks like it came straight out of the early 1990s, which is why I'm kind of looking forward to watching it. I've seen a few trailers for upcoming action films recently that reminded me of movies from the 90s. Are 90s-style action movies making a comeback!? Yeah, it looks like a very low-budget flick, but sometimes it's just fun to sit back, relax, and watch a fun movie like this. Here's the synopsis:
Indochina, 1959. A Wild West town controlled by the criminal class: Vietnamese warlords and European war criminals. The worst prison in the land, it is here that a European, former-champion boxer Martin Tilman (Scott Adkins) has made a name for himself fighting tournaments. When Tilman is due for release,...

If you spend any time at all in direct-to-dvd action movie land, then you probably know the name Jesse V. Johnson. He’s a Hollywood stuntman who has worked in a ton of big studio films, but he’s only ever directed direct-to-dvd action movies like 2005′s “Pit Fighter” and the upcoming “The Package” with Dolph Lundgren and Steve Austin. Like most directors, Jesse V. Johnson dreams of doing something bigger. Say, directing a Wonder Woman movie for Warner Bros., for instance. So taking a page from “Mortal Kombat: Legacy” director Kevin Tancharoen’s playbook, Johnson has assembled a crew and put together a 2-minute Wonder Woman pitch that stars Nina Bergman as the Amazonian warrior and includes appearances by everyone’s favorite twitchy actor, Peter Stormare (“The Last Stand”). Check it out below. Some thoughts: Bergman is probably not quite “big” enough for the role, and there’s something...

Former “Expendables” co-stars Steve Austin and Dolph Lundgren flex their muscles as they re-team in the explosive actioner “The Package” for director Jesse V. Johnson (“Pit Fighter”, “The Fifth Commandment”). The film is due out on DVD and Blu-ray Combo Pack this February 19th courtesy of Anchor Bay. Sound like your kind of flick? Good news, then, because we have three copies of the film on Blu-ray to give away to three lucky winners. Head on below for the details! Directed by Jesse V. Johnson and written by Derek Kolstad, The Package features Austin as Tommy Wick, a nightclub bouncer and enforcer for Seattle crime boss Big Doug (Eric Keenleyside, Dreamcatcher, Firewall). When Big Doug instructs Tommy to hand-deliver a secret package to the mysterious international crime lord “The German,” (Lundgren), he does so with the hopes that Big Doug will forgive the debt Tommy’s brother Eddie (Lochlyn Munroe,...

“The Expendables” co-stars Dolph Lundgren and Steve Austin re-team for “The Package”, a slam-bang actioner from Jesse Johnson, who directed a little-known but I think underrated action flick called “Pit Fighter” from 2005. Here’s an Exclusive clip from “The Package”, featuring Dolph Lundgren doing what Dolph Lundgren does best — look mean and plotting your death. Dthe Package features Austin as Tommy Wick, a nightclub bouncer and enforcer for Seattle crime boss Big Doug (Eric Keenleyside, Dreamcatcher, Firewall). When Big Doug instructs Tommy to hand-deliver a secret package to the mysterious international crime lord “The German,” (Lundgren), he does so with the hopes that Big Doug will forgive the debt Tommy’s brother Eddie (Lochlyn Munroe, White Chicks, Freddy vs. Jason) owes. Word of the clandestine delivery spreads and soon “the package” – and those who carry it – becomes the target of rival gang leader Anthony (Michael Daingerfield, The Messengers). Anthony will...

It’s Top Chef Texas, Texisode 9, entitled “BBQ Pit Wars”. Looks like the chefsters will be either cooking pit-barbecue against one another, or eating barbecue then unrelatedly fighting in a pit like the Atari arcade game Pit Fighter. Note: You did Not get served barbecue in that game. The night before the Quickfire, the chefs are sent a copy of the Coveted Modernist Cuisine cook book, in order to promote it because it’s so Coveted study it, even though it’s a six-volume, 2438-page monster that they have one night to look at and they’re all on negative seventy hours of sleep. Who can possibly even begin to read six giant books in one night? Oh yeah, cheftestant Johnny Five: The chefs arrive the next morning for the Quickfire and surprise! The guest judge is Nathan Myhrvold, author of the book-shaped monolith they just received. I figured...

More Afm news
The American Film Market just wouldn't be the Afm without the so-called lobbyists.
They are the guys who've earned that moniker because of their use of the Loews hotel as one all-mighty pitching floor. And this year's potpourri of players is as mixed and as colorful as ever.
An urban Kung Fu fighter, a fully finished juiced-up rap drama with Fredro Starr and a yet-to-be-made horror flick about a half-woman, half-spider are among the titles boosted by the lobbyists.
Penned by L.A. based martial arts expert and filmmaker Mark Hoadley, "Mark of the Cobra" is being put together by husband and wife team Mark and Sheila Hoadley. The married duo is busy here pulling together the financing for their $2.5 million passion project.
Sheila Hoadley said she felt there was "more respect" for the producers presenting to people from the lobby.
And her project has something else on its side.
