Spoiler Warning: This story discusses plot details for “Woman of the Hour,” now streaming on Netflix.
Netflix’s “Woman of the Hour” marks Anna Kendrick’s directorial debut, but that was not the movie’s only breakthrough performance. Of all the featured victims, one young girl stands out in the ripped-from-the-headlines plot: Amy, a runaway teen, survived her encounter with the serial killer Rodney Alcala. Amid his murder spree, he was a contestant on “The Dating Game” in the 1970s.
Amy is played by Autumn Best, who makes her film debut with the pivotal role. She’s an alum of the CW series “The 4400,” but, believe it or not, she went into her audition with little to no hope of landing the part.
She was working as a barista at a coffee shop in Chicago when she learned about the opportunity. “I got the email, and I was like,...

The I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot cast is coming together in a promising way. We just learned that Golden Globe Award nominee Billy Campbell has joined the cast in an undisclosed role. I wonder who he could be playing in the slasher.
Campbell joins a growing list of actors who have already been announced to be in the cast, such as Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Haur-King.
Freddie Prinze Jr. was announced recently to have officially joined the cast, reprising his role of Ray Bronson from the original film and its 1998 sequel. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Brandy Norwood are also in talks to return in their roles as Julie James and Karla Wilson.
Additionally, Bodies Bodies Bodies star Chase Sui Wonders is currently in discussions about joining the cast of the upcoming Sony movie. However, who she will be portraying in the film is unknown.

Marvel Studios' upcoming superhero flick "Thunderbolts*" is slated to be the 36th feature film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will assemble six ancillary characters culled from previous MCU movies and TV shows, making them into a ragtag fighting force. On the team are the Red Guardian, Yelena Belova, and Taskmaster from "Black Widow," the Winter Soldier and U.S. Agent (Sebastian Stan and Wyatt Russell) from "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier," and Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) from "Ant-Man and the Wasp." These characters previously served as low-level villains or antagonists, but are now redeeming themselves as hunted antiheroes.
The first full trailer for "Thunderbolts*" was released on September 23, 2024, and it displays the requisite action that the genre demands, as well as the notable character reveals that the MCU is known for. The characters are also well-equipped with quips, wielding bathos like a cudgel. A car is shot during an intense chase sequence,...

I know it doesn’t feel like 2004 was 20 years ago, but it was, which means many great TV shows just turned 20 years old.
Seriously, 2004 is a sneaky good year for new TV premieres. Most of the titles on this list of good TV shows turning 20 years old in 2024 were broadcast hits. The cable networks had a decent market share in the early 2000s, but we’re still a decade before the streaming industry changed the TV game.
At this point in TV history, we’re still seven years before the Game of Thrones premiere. Remember that, please!
Let’s get the list started with the best show of 2004!

Created by Jeffrey Lieber, J. J. Abrams, and Damon Lindelof, Lost premiered on ABC in the fall of 2004. The series told the story of a group of survivors of a plane crash on a mysterious island.

The 2024 Emmy nominations are out, and this year’s slate of nominees has a solid showing for Asian American, Latino, Indigenous, and LGBTQ representation in the acting categories.
This year, with 96 acting slots up for grabs, there is an increase in the number of people of color nominated across all acting categories, with 30 recognized. Last year’s crop of nominees included 25 people of color. In 2022, 42 people of color were nominated in the acting categories (30 in main and 12 in guest); in 2021, 25 were nominated (19 in main and six in guest).
Indigenous actors and creators were a bright spot in this year’s nominations. Supporting actress (limited) nominees Lily Gladstone from “Under the Bridge” and Kali Reis from “True Detective: Night Country” became the first Indigenous women to be nominated for acting Emmys. FX’s final season of “Reservation Dogs” scored a long overdue nomination for outstanding comedy series, bringing its star D’Pharaoh Woon-a-Tai...

This spoiler-free review is based on all six episodes.
Movie superheroes are intrinsically tied to comic books. The language, the shape of the narrative arcs and the visuals are nearly always either inspired by or reacting against the genre as established in four colours. Even supposedly grounded and gritty takes like M Night Shyamalan’s Unbreakable use Bruce Willis’s poncho to signify a cape, with every shot framed to look like a comic book panel.
The most faithful screen realization of that imagery is usually the lavish CGI cinema spectacle, with TV all too often seen as its poor relation. The truth is, TV superheroism is now a genre all of its own, with its own tropes, rules and language that have for the most part left the comics far behind.

While some have fallen short, there are lesser-known gems from the 2000s worth revisiting, especially now that they are available for streaming on Prime.
What Is This Show About?
One such gem is The Dead Zone, a TV series that aired on the USA Network for six seasons before its cancellation in 2007 due to the Writers Guild of America strike.
Loosely based on Stephen King's 1979 novel, the series centers on Johnny Smith (Anthony Michael Hall), who awakens from a six-year coma with a unique ability: any contact with objects or people triggers visions of the past or future. This phenomenon is believed to be the activation of a previously unused part of his brain, the "dead zone," compensating for the damaged areas.
Johnny uses his newfound abilities to assist local authorities in solving cold cases while grappling with apocalyptic visions involving politician Greg Stillson (Sean Patrick Flanery). The series also features Nicole de Boer,...

The Jackson 5 have found their harmony once again for the upcoming biopic “Michael” from director Antoine Fuqua and Oscar-winning producer Graham King.
After a worldwide search led filmmakers to cast Jackson’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson, as the King of Pop, with 9-year-old Juliano Krue Valdi as the younger Michael, fans have been eagerly waiting to see who would round out the rest of the Jackson family.
The film, which is scheduled to hit theaters on April 18, 2025, is currently in production. Oscar-nominee Colman Domingo assumes the role of family patriarch Joe Jackson with Nia Long as mother Katherine Jackson, plus Miles Teller as lawyer John Branca.
Now, the eight actors who will portray Jackson’s four brothers — who come together to form the massively popular singing group the Jackson 5 — have been revealed: Jamal R. Henderson plays Jermaine Jackson in the film’s later years, while Jayden Harville plays the younger version.

Exclusive: USA Network’s “blue sky” series of the 2000s and early 2010s are having a moment this year between Suits‘ blockbuster run on Netflix, which broke streaming records and led to a potential offshoot series at NBC, and the Monk reunion movie, which premieres today on Peacock and already is getting awards recognition.
Now the brand is making its way back to where it started, on the USA Network. NBCUniversal’s ad-supported cable net is plotting a return to original scripted programming with light, frothy character-based procedurals in the mold of the lineup from the “blue sky”era that included Monk, Burn Notice, Psych, Royal Pains, White Collar and Suits, Deadline has learned.
After the end of the WGA strike, NBCU scripted executives put out feelers about their USA plans and already have identified a handful of ideas they are considering for development but there are no deals yet,...

It lasted only one season, but fans still mourn the demise of the sci-fi/western Firefly. As much as we love watching (and rewatching) the series, sometimes it's not enough.
Are you longing for a little more Captain Tight Pants? Want to see Zoe quietly kick some adversary's butt? Wishing you could revisit the Hero of Canton?
Well, we can't bring back Firefly -- oh, how we wish we could! -- but we can tell you where you can tune in to see the cast now.
If you can't get enough of the crew of the Serenity, read on to find out where you can see them now.
Ron Glass - Shepherd Derrial Book
Shepherd Book was the preacher with a cryptic past who boards the Serenity and befriends its crew. We loved Book's warmth and acceptance of his other crew members while still being able to hold onto his faith.

“The Other Black Girl” is a rarity for Black women in scripted television. The latest series from Onyx Collective to premiere on Hulu, this psychological thriller and satire tinged with horror offers a rare and provocative look into the challenges facing Black women within the larger white society, while also exploring their internal tensions through a mainstream premise.
Adapted from the 2021 book of the same name from Zakiya Dalila Harris, the show centers two Black women working in book publishing, widely acknowledged as one of the least diverse industries in the country. Nella Rogers (Sinclair Daniel) is a promising young employee at Wagner Books, with eyes on becoming an impactful editor like her idol Kendra Rae Phillips, the publisher’s first and only Black editor to date, did back in the early 1980s. Being the only Black woman at the company can be isolating, so it’s only natural that...

Bruce Miller has stepped down from his post as showrunner of the “The Handmaid’s Tale,” passing his duties on the sixth and final season to Eric Tuchman and Yahlin Chang, who already served as writers and executive producers.
Miller has showrun the Hulu drama since its premiere in 2017. He will remain on staff as a writer and executive producer on Season 6 while moving on to focus on developing a screen adaptation “The Testaments,” the “Handmaid’s Tale” sequel that original author Margaret Atwood wrote in 2019.

When you think of the shows that have aired on The CW, you likely think of Supernatural, The Flash, Riverdale, The Vampire Diaries, and more, all shows which seemed aimed at a teenage/twenty-something audience. It's official. The CW, as we know it, is over.
After months of speculation about the future of the young-skewing network, we finally have some clarity.
Nexstar Media Group revealed Monday that it will acquire a 75 percent ownership stake in the network.
Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global will each keep a 12.5 percent minority stake.
The move means that both companies will continue making select programming for the network.
However, Nexstar will also be looking to other companies for content, meaning that there will likely be some huge changes to the slate as a whole.
“Our acquisition of The CW is strategically and operationally compelling, as it will enable us to leverage our operational experience to improve the network’s performance through our management of this powerful national platform,” Nexstar CEO Perry Sook said in a statement.

Exclusive: Joel Gretsch (All Rise) and Gustaf Skarsgård (Oppenheimer) are the latest additions to the cast of Ben Affleck’s Nike film for Amazon Studios, Skydance Sports and Mandalay Pictures. They join a star-studded ensemble led by Matt Damon and Affleck in the as-yet-untitled sports marketing pic, which will ultimately premiere on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The drama has Damon playing maverick sneaker salesman and former Nike executive Sonny Vaccaro, with Affleck as Nike co-founder Phil Knight, in a story about Nike’s long-shot effort to sign Michael Jordan to its shoe company in the mid-’80s. It was an endorsement that seemed impossible at the time, but would become the most significant relationship between an athletic brand and an athlete ever, and launched the global, multibillion-dollar contemporary sneaker industry. “Roswell, New Mexico” returns for its final season premiere on Monday night, and it’s bringing an old friend back into the fold — at least temporarily. Max Evans’ old partner and friend Jenna Cameron is back, and she needs his help solving what very well may be a crime committed by aliens.
Of course, this time around, Jenna Cameron (Riley Voelkel) is actually Agent Cameron, having taken a job with the FBI. But to be fair, she’s not the only one with a new title. Max (Nathan Dean Parsons) has one too; he’s currently the sheriff of Roswell (even if only in the interim). Their banter is as strong as ever, as Jenna needles Max by informing him that she only took the job “so I could outrank you, Evans.”
Jokes aside, there is a reason that Max was the one called in to help solve a bank...

The CW is gearing up for some big change as a bulk of its slate was canceled much to fans’ shock and network boss Mark Pedowitz is giving context for the reasoning behind the surprising move. Among some of the casualties of the cancellation roundup include Arrowverse favorites Batwoman and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow as well as Charmed, Dynasty, 4400, In the Dark, Legacies, Naomi, and Roswell, New Mexico. And it was officially announced Thursday that Riverdale would come to an end after its upcoming seventh season. While Riverdale will have time to plot out its closing episode, some of the other favorites that met their abrupt ends with the mass series axing didn’t quite have that chance, but Pedowitz shared that it wasn’t the network’s intention to leave fans high and dry. CW boss Mark Pedowitz is well aware that the network’s unprecedented cancellation spree — which included Arrowverse series Batwoman (after three seasons) and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (after seven seasons) — came as “a bit of a shock.” (Yeah, that’s an understatement.)
The younger-skewing network — which on Thursday confirmed that Riverdale would end after a proper seventh and final season — axed an additional seven series on May 12, including Charmed, Dynasty, 4400, In the Dark, Legacies, Naomi and Roswell, New Mexico.

It’s a “time of transition” for The CW: Boss Mark Pedowitz addressed the “shock” of cancellations that came this season, which included series such as DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Legacies, and revealed that he encouraged his creators to approach their season finales as if they might be series finales.
“I realize the pattern was different from what we have done in years past so I can see why it has come as a bit of a shock to you and the fans. None of these were easy decisions, we had long conversations with our studios and parent companies and everyone recognized this was a time of transition for The CW. Unfortunately, some difficult financial and strategic decisions needed to be made at every level and despite some rumors out there, content was never a factor in deciding not to move forward with the shows,” he said on The CW’s Pre-Upfronts call.

The residents of Riverdale are set to say goodbye as The CW has announced that the popular drama series will end its run with the upcoming seventh season. Riverdale was renewed back in March, alongside fellow CW dramas The Flash, All American, Superman & Lois, Walker, Kung Fu, and Nancy Drew. The Archie Comics series is currently airing its sixth season on Sunday nights, averaging a total of 560,000 viewers with Live+7 DVR playback included. The cancellation news came as part of The CW’s 2022 fall schedule release, which confirmed the seventh and final season will debut at midseason in 2023. Riverdale now joins its fellow network shows Dynasty, Charmed, Naomi, 4400, In the Dark, and Roswell, New Mexico, all of which were axed last week. Riverdale was developed by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and based on the characters from Archie Comics. The show follows a group of teenagers trying to unravel the evils lurking within this seemingly innocent town.

Fans of Roswell, New Mexico, were given some bad news last week.
The sci-fi reboot has been canceled after four seasons.
The good news?
We still have an entire season to watch before the residents of the alien-filled town say goodbye for good.
The CW dropped the official trailer this week, and it teases the coming events in a big way.
While the show isn't getting a pre-planned conclusion, the ending is supposed to be satisfying enough for longtime fans.
“Mark Pedowitz [and] his team at The CW had the class [and] grace to warn the shows that they might not survive, even if The CW wanted them,” executive producer Julie Plec tweeted of Roswell and Legacies over the weekend.
“Because of that, the season finales of both shows were carefully crafted to also work as series finales.”

Hey, fellow "Legacies" fans. Today, is a very sad day as we have just been made aware that The CW will not be renewing the last of The Vampire Diaries spin off shows Legacies for a new, 5th season. According to the folks over at Deadline.com , The CW is actually in the midst of getting sold. So, that could have something to do with Legacies cancellation. Who knows? What we do know is The CW has gone on a major cancelling spree as of late. They didn't just cancel Legacies. They canceled 7 other shows: Batwoman, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, 4400, Roswell New Mexico, Dynasty and Charmed. They're reporting that Legacies was on the bubble, and we can actually see why. For some reason, their Live viewership and ratings took a pretty steep dive during this current season 4. It was only averaging 361,000 Live viewers per episode, and a 0.08 ratings...

Set in The Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted, and within “The Vampire Diaries” universe, The CW’s “Legacies” debuted in 2018. The show tells the ongoing story of a new generation of supernatural students as they learn what it means to be special in a society that wouldn’t understand their gifts.
The series stars Danielle Rose Russell as Hope Mikaelson, Jenny Boyd as Lizzie Saltzman, the now-exited Kaylee Bryant as Josie Saltzman, Quincy Fouse as Milton “Mg” Greasley, Aria Shahghasemi as Landon Kirby, Peyton Alex Smith as Rafael, Chris Lee as Kaleb, Leo Howard as Ethan Mac and Ben Levin as Jed, with Matthew Davis as Alaric Saltzman.

There will not be a fifth season for Legacies. The CW has canceled The Originals spinoff from Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries), Warner Bros. TV and CBS Studios, after four seasons.

The June 16 Season 4 finale will now serve as the series finale.

Legacies was on the bubble, but had a slight edge due to its ties to one of the CW’s signature series, The Vampire Diaries, but ultimately the CW decided not to go forward with another season as the network has been making some tough calls as it prepares for a sale. The June 16 Season 4 finale will now serve as the series finale.

Your watchlist may be a bit slimmer in the coming months. E! News can confirm that more than 10 series have been canceled as networks plan out their 2022-2023 TV seasons. At CBS, the one-season medical drama Good Sam, starring Sophia Bush, is over, as is B Positive, How We Roll and The United States of Al. Additionally, the Magnum P.I. revival is saying aloha after four seasons on the air. The CW will likely have some angry fans to reckon with, too. Both Naomi and The 4400 have been axed after just one season each. They're in good company, with the network also opting to cancel Charmed, Dynasty, Roswell, New Mexico and In The...

The series is narrated by Supernatural's Jensen Ackles, and also stars Drake Rodger and Meg Donnelly.
Meanwhile, Walker: Independence will transport fans of the franchise back to the 1800s.

The 4400′s comeback was short-lived. The CW has canceled the freshman series after one low-rated season.
Based on the original TV series created by Scott Peters and Renee Echevarria, 4400 hails from Riverdale co-executive producer Ariana Jackson, who wrote the pilot; Sunil Nayar; and Anna Fricke and Laura Terry of Pursued By a Bear.
In 4400, over the last century at least 4,400 people who were overlooked, undervalued, or otherwise marginalized vanished without a trace off the face of the planet. Last night, inexplicably, they were all returned in an instant to Detroit having not aged a day and with no memory of what happened to them. As the government races to understand the phenomenon, analyze the potential threat and contain the story, Jharrel (Joseph David-Jones), an empathetic social worker, and Keisha (Ireon Roach), a hardened community corrections officer, are among the civil servants called upon to deal with the uncanny refugees.
