Every once in a while, the stars will align to make for some truly fascinating television, not because of anything going on in the script but because of the context of the actors involved. The short-lived 2000 TV series "Freaks and Geeks," for instance, is fascinating not just because it's good TV but because so many of the actors in it were just a few years away from becoming massive stars. 

Likewise, there's a 2007 episode of "Hannah Montana" that's interesting not because of the actual plot, which is pretty boilerplate relationship drama stuff, but because Larry David and Austin Butler are for some reason involved. Yes, that Larry David, the crotchety old man most famous for playing a childless, profanity-spewing jerk on "Curb Your Enthusiasm." And yes, that Austin Butler, the guy who recently played a hairless psychopath in "Dune: Part Two."

“Heretic” tells the story of two Mormon missionaries, Sister Barnes and Sister Paxton. In the course of their mission work, they knock on the door of a Mr. Reed, a seemingly kind but reclusive man.

The year was 1996, and NBC's "Seinfeld" was firing on all cylinders. The "show about nothing" had won an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series, Kramer actor Michael Richards had won two Supporting Actor in a Comedy Emmys, Julia Louis-Dreyfus was fresh off her win for Supporting Actress, and co-creator Larry David had already won his Emmy for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Writing for a Comedy Series for season 4's "The Contest," where he was willing to put his job on the line to make sure the episode got made.

But it was at this point, after the seventh season had aired, when Larry David walked away from his creation. Well, that's not entirely true -- he stuck around as an actor to continue to do the occasional cameo as Yankees head honcho George Steinbrenner -- but it is true that David stopped writing and showrunning "Seinfeld" right around the time it reached its creative peak.

Zaslav has been banging the consolidation drum for some time, and thinks the election results could allow for more.

While the reactions to the election of Donald Trump as the next president of the United States have varied across the country, they have been far more positive from media executives. While many are looking forward to the loosening of regulatory restrictions and oversight, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is cautiously optimistic about the impact that Trump’s second term could have on the industry. Zaslav had the chance to speak during the company’s conference call regarding its third-quarter earnings report on Thursday and shared his thoughts on how the election of Trump could aid in the furthering of one of his most cherished goals: the consolidation of big media and entertainment companies.

Key Details: Zaslav says the results of the election could create a “pace of change” for media consolidation.

Company officials said they would talk more in-depth about their plans to crack down on account sharing in the current quarter.

Warner Bros. Discovery is the next company in line to crack down on the sharing of passwords for users of its streaming service Max. The company has been teasing its rules against account sharing for several months, pledging to roll them out near the end of 2024. During the company’s conference call to discuss its third-quarter earnings, officials briefly discussed those plans once again, saying that more details would be available soon.

The Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service had its largest quarterly gain since launching.

Did Max live up to expectations this quarter? Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav said he expected to add 6 million streaming customers in the third quarter of 2024, and on Thursday, Nov. 7, the company revealed that it had exceeded expectations, bringing on 7.2 million new customers.

That brings its new total to 110.5 million, after ending the second quarter with 103.3 million globally. In the United States and Canada, Wbd now has 52.6 million customers, and its international total now stands at 57.9 million.

From a revenue standpoint, Max had some ups and downs in the quarter compared to Q2. Average revenue per user (Arpu) reached $7.84, down a bit from $8 last quarter. As a company, Wbd had a net income of $135 million during the quarter.

Brian Bonsall started acting on Family Ties when he was 5 years old, playing the role of Andy Keaton through the show's final three seasons.

He said of his time on Family Ties: "Good memories for sure. They were a second family to me, growing up doing that ... Michael J. Fox used to come pick me up in his Ferrari, taught me to dive into a pool. It was so comfortable hanging out."

The break helped him appear in more 1990s shows, including Father Hood and Blank Check, until he retired in 1995. He later shifted his career and pursued his passion for music with several bands.

Andrew Santino — the comedian, actor and host of podcasts “Whiskey Ginger” and “Bad Friends” with Bobby Lee — has set his next stand-up special at Hulu.

The comedy hour will be executive produced by Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions banner. The special joins the streamer’s “Hularious” lineup, which boasts a roster that includes Bill Burr, Chris Distefano, Jim Gaffigan, Ilana Glazer, Jessica Kirson, Matteo Lane, Sebastian Maniscalco, Atsuko Okatsuka and Roy Wood Jr.

While a release date for Santino’s special was not announced, “Hularious” kicks off on Nov. 22. It also features a curated collection of previously released stand-up specials licensed from smaller distributors like 800 Pound Gorilla, Comedy Dynamics, and Don’t Tell Comedy, among others.

In 2015, Santino released a Comedy Central half-hour stand-up special alongside his debut album “Say No More.” He made his stand-up debut on Adam DeVine’s “House Party” and has since performed on “Conan” and “The Meltdown.

Ted Danson apologized on Wednesday to Kelsey Grammer for a 30-year-old rift that occurred when they were both on “Cheers.”

The two discussed their relative falling out on the latest episode of Danson’s SiriusXM’s podcast “Where Everybody Knows Your Name.”

Danson recalled a time when he “got angry” with his costar, who played Dr. Frasier Crane on the NBC sitcom and on the spinoff “Frasier.”
