It’s been a minute — well, more like a year and a half — since the Season 4 finale of “9-1-1: Lone Star.” With the fifth and final season of the Fox first responder series premiering Monday night, here are some of the key events and personal developments to remember.
Happily, nearly everyone was in a stable relationship when we last saw them, while some faced heartbreak and more than one person quit the 126.

In a shocking twist, Carlos (Rafael Silva)’s Texas Ranger father Gabriel was gunned down in his own home by an unknown assailant, leaving Carlos to become obsessed with finding his father’s killer.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 3, Episode 14 “Impulse Control.”] The latest two 9-1-1: Lone Star episodes have been very emotional for paramedic Captain Tommy Vega (Gina Torres). First, she tries dating, only for her date (Amaury Nolasco’s Morris) to start crying at the table. Then, in “Impulse Control,” she deals with her brother-in-law’s visit. Julius (Nathan Owens) comes to town for his nieces’ birthdays, and it becomes emotional when he and Tommy discuss the fact that he didn’t attend his brother Charles’ (Derek Webster) funeral. He went, he confesses to Tommy, but he couldn’t go inside. The two kiss, then later agree it didn’t happen nor will it again. But he is now staying with her and her daughters while he’s in town. Torres breaks down the episode. I absolutely love how Tommy dealt with Julius with that smile on her face when he showed up at ...

9-1-1: Lone Star fans are used to watching the graphic Fox procedural from the spaces between their fingers, but Monday’s episode gave us the most cringeworthy moment of the season — and there was no blood involved.
Let’s just talk about it: After confronting her brother-in-law about missing Charles’ funeral, Tommy and Julius (guest star Nathan Owens) shared an emotional moment, one that led to a kiss no one saw coming. Well, except for Gina Torres.

9-1-1: Lone Star is about to delve deeper into Tommy's life.
TV Line reports that Nathan Owens has landed a recurring role on the Fox drama's third season.
Owens is set to recur as Julius Vega, Tommy's brother-in-law.
He is a musician with some gigs lined up in Austin and shows up unexpectedly to celebrate his nieces' birthday party.
Tommy, however, is shocked by the arrival because Julius did not show up at his brother, Charles' funeral.
If you watch 9-1-1: Lone Star online, you know Tommy brutally lost Charles during 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 2.
Understandably, Tommy will have some thoughts about the return of Julius and will likely struggle to understand why he didn't show up at his brother's funeral.
Meanwhile, the series will be delving deeper into Tommy's romantic life as Amaury Nolasco (Prison Break) has landed a guest-starring role as Morris.

9-1-1: Lone Star Adds Batwoman and Prison Break Actors as Important Men in Tommy's Life — First Look
Two new faces are coming to 9-1-1: Lone Star this month, including one that Gina Torres’ Tommy Vega will be less than excited to see.
Amaury Nolasco, known for his work on Prison Break and Hightown, will guest-star in the show’s April 11 episode (9/8c) as Morris, a fellow widower Tommy meets in her grief group. He becomes Tommy’s first date since her husband’s death — and we hear that the date takes an “unexpected turn” before its over. (Knowing this show, we’re a little concerned.)

Every year, the debate rages on about whether or not Die Hard is a Christmas movie. After all, there’s no rule that says titles set around the holiday season need to be whimsical tales of family and friendship that rely heavily on the established iconography of Christmas in order to be counted as part of a subgenre that spawns countless new entries on an annual basis.
Technically, a Christmas movie is one where the festivities play a key part in the narrative, and given that John McClane only shows up at the Nakatomi Plaza after being invited to his estranged wife’s office Christmas party, Die Hard certainly fits the bill. However, for some reason, a lot of people seem to deny that action-orientated fare like John McTiernan’s classic, Richard Donner’s Lethal Weapon and virtually the entire filmography of Shane Black can truly be called Christmas movies.
