Dax Shepard was in for a big surprise when he watched Nobody Wants This, the Netflix rom-com series starring his wife, Kristen Bell. Shepard, 49, learned just how good Bell, 44, was at kissing when he watched her on-screen smooch with co-star Adam Brody.
Shepard ‘didn’t even know’ Bell ‘could kiss’ like she does in ‘Nobody Wants This’
For the uninitiated, Bell and Brody’s characters, Joanne and Noah, shared a romantic kiss on the streets of Los Angeles, California, in Nobody Wants This Season 1 Episode 2: “A Shiksa Walks Into a Temple.” Joanne even later described it to her sister, Morgan, played by Succession alum Justine Lupe, as one of the best kisses of her life.
Watching the scene Shepard realized Bell’s never kissed him like that. (They married in 2013 after meeting in 2007.) “My friend…we watched that scene together, the kissing scene, which I’d argue is the very best kissing scene ever,...

Peter Gallagher continues to be proud of his former The Oc co-star, Adam Brody, following the success of his Netflix comedy Nobody Wants This.
Gallagher played Brody’s TV dad in the Fox drama for four seasons and recently shared his sentiment over his hit show.
“I wouldn’t go as far as being a proud dad, and I haven’t seen the show, but I’m proud of him all the time as his friend and former TV dad,” Gallagher told People. “And I’m not surprised at all [of the renaissance]. He’s so talented and I’m glad he’s still doing his thing.”
Gallagher played Sandy Cohen in the Josh Schwartz-created drama, which premiered on Fox in 2003. Brody was Seth Cohen, Gallagher’s son obsessed with comic books and pop culture.
Twenty years after the debut of The Oc, Brody finds himself starring in another hit show, this time for Netflix.

As if the central romance at the center of Netflix's new hit romantic comedy series wasn't enough, some Nobody Wants This fans have picked up on the chemistry between Morgan (Justine Lupe) and Sasha (Timothy Simons) and started shipping. Morgan's crush on Sasha picked up steam by the end of the season as Joanne and Noah's "loser siblings" grew closer as unlikely friends.
With Joanne and Noah now secure in the forward momentum in their relationship, the group of viewers who ship Morgan and Sasha have been hoping to see the siblings act on the sparks between them in the recently confirmed Nobody Wants This season 2. Well, you're going to have to keep dreaming about a loser sibling romance arc because it's not happening.

Nobody Wants This quickly proved its title incorrect when the Netflix original romantic comedy series premiered on Sept. 26. After racking up millions upon millions of viewing minutes since it dropped, the show actually confirmed that everybody want this. And what everybody wanted immediately after watching the charming first season was a second season.
Thankfully, Netflix delivered on that front and announced the Nobody Wants This season 2 renewal on Oct. 10, just two weeks after the show initially premiered. Of course, the series stars Kristen Bell and Adam Brody as a star-crossed couple navigating their relationship amid pressures from family, friends, and Noah's career as a rabbi... since Joanne isn't Jewish.
From creator Erin Foster and loosely based on her experiences converting to Judaism, Nobody Wants This has helped many millennial women feel seen through the show's vulnerable exploration of intimacy and relationships. The show will continue to do so with its highly anticipated second season,...

Netflix's rom-com series Nobody Wants This was inspired by creator and producer Erin Foster's real-life love story. She developed the concept in 2019 when she was converting to Judaism after meeting her now-husband, Simon Tikham, at a Los Angeles gym in 2018.
Although Foster based it on their story, Tikham is not a rabbi. However, the showrunner used him as her inspiration to create Noah, who she wanted to be "emotionally available, chivalrous, old-fashioned ... but also really funny and confident."

Nobody Wants This Season 1 saw sparks fly between agnostic Joanne (Kristen Bell) and rabbi Noah (Adam Brody) as a friendship quietly blossomed between their siblings. Morgan, played by Succession alum Justine Lupe, and Sasha (Timothy Simons) exchanged texts about their sister and brother’s relationship drama. Soon, however, an admittedly “weird”—Morgan’s words—friendship formed on the Netflix original series. That, in turn, upset Sasha’s wife, Esther, portrayed by Jackie Tohn, who, according to the actor, “she has the right to be.”

Part of the charm of “Nobody Wants This” lies in the specificity of its characters. We know who mismatched couple podcaster Joanne (played by Kristen Bell) and rabbi Noah (Adam Brody) are as soon as we meet them in the first episode. And that came across even in creator Erin Foster’s scripts.
“I read the pilot, and I was obsessed,” costume designer Negar Ali Kline told IndieWire. “I connected to it immediately because I am from L.A. I had to do it! I just felt like this was the story I had to tell. The pilot was written so brilliantly, and Erin’s point of view was so clear in the pilot that I knew who Joanne was from the very first read.”

Fortunately for Netflix, Nobody Wants This is definitely not living up to its title: The comedy from writer/actress Erin Foster is currently No. 1 on the platform and is already considering what a season 2 would look like.
Here, Foster and her sister Sara — who is an EP on the show and co-host with Erin on “The World’s First Podcast” — talk about the comedy’s semi-autobiographical evolution, how no one except Netflix wanted it, and how “this story, hands down, is good for Jewish people.”

With new Netflix romcom series Nobody Wants This, fans of Noughties teen drama experience a nostalgia-inducing combination, as The Oc’s Seth Cohen (Adam Brody) and the voice of Gossip Girl (Kristen Bell) play an unlikely couple with a lot to overcome.
Bell is Joanne, a serial dater, child of divorce and mega oversharer on the sex and relationships podcast she does with her sister, Morgan (Justine Lupe). Brody is Noah, a devoted rabbi going through a recent, intense break-up with the kind of Jewish woman his family expected him to settle down with. He and Joanne meet at a dinner party and sparks fly instantly — despite Joanne assuming the rabbi in the room was someone else — but they quickly realise there are a lot of things in the way. Joanne has a tricky dynamic with her parents that she’s internalised as insecurities...

Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan's "Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story" has been dominating Netflix charts since its release, but the reasons behind its popularity are a bit ... complicated. For starters, the second entry in Murphy's "Monsters" crime anthology dramatizes the real lives of brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez to problematic ends, and a central incident has been framed in a shockingly distasteful manner, prompting viewers to warn others about its graphic nature. The sensitive nature of the subject matter, along with the controversy surrounding the series' approach to it, might have nudged it to the #1 spot in Netflix's Top 10 TV charts (in the U.S.), but insensitive sensationalism can only go so far. At the moment, "Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story" has been (thankfully) dethroned by a lighter, more enjoyable drama — a fun rom-com loosely inspired by real events, to be exact — titled "Nobody Wants This,...

An unlikely pair find themselves falling in love in the comedy series on Netflix Nobody Wants This. Show creator Erin Foster wrote this ten-episode series based on her own life as a podcast host and falling in love with her real-life husband, Simon Tikhman. The star-studded cast is led by Foster’s former The O.C. co-star Adam Brody and Kristen Bell, who play Noah and Joanne. Succession star Justine Lupe plays Joanne’s sister, Sasha, and Veep star Timothy Simons plays Morgan, Noah’s brother.

“Nobody Wants This” does not disappoint in delivering heart-wrenching songs to match Kristen Bell and Adam Brody’s undeniable on-screen chemistry.
Rabbi Noah Roklov (Brody) and sex podcaster Joanne (Bell) are an unlikely couple, but the two just can’t keep away from each other. The sultry, flirty soundtrack accompanies the two’s magnetic bond. Heartbreak anthems from Olivia Rodrigo, a love song from Rihanna and even a few bat mitzvah bangers round out the 10-episode series’ soundtrack.
Created by Erin Foster, the Netflix series also features breakout performances from “Veep” actor Timothy Simons and “Succession” star Justine Lupe.

Nobody Wants This is the almost saccharine sitcom we’ve all been waiting for. Well, at least I have. A little while ago Netflix gave us One Day, a revolutionary romance show, if you ask me, because in the social media age, it’s hard to find something that gets so much positive reception from both critics and the people. Now, I do think Nobody Wants This will garner divided opinions, specifically because it’s quite a rollercoaster, but for the most part, if you like good chemistry and actually fun dialogue, then this show is going to leave you thrilled. They say opposites attract, but when the opposites are a Jewish rabbi and an agnostic sex podcaster, it’s hard for anyone to believe it’s possible. The show was created by Erin Foster, who took notes from her own life experiences finding love with a Jewish partner, and I’ve got to say,...

A cool young rabbi is on the rise at his temple. He’s single, so members are constantly trying to make love connections with the eligible young Jewish women in their acquaintance. So it’s inconvenient for him when the woman he can’t stop thinking about definitely isn’t Jewish. Can they make things work? Should they even try?

What if two people are completely perfect for each other, except for one thing?
It’s a question faced by couples every day, but never in the way that it presents on television; where the one thing keeping them together or apart will make or break the show. How can we sustain Ross and Rachel’s tension for 10 seasons? Once Nick and Jess get together, what will drives them apart? Can “Parks and Recreation” continue once Ben and Leslie tie the knot?
How TV chooses to answer that question varies drastically, as the aforementioned shows demonstrate, including Netflix’s new romantic comedy from Erin Foster, “Nobody Wants This.” The series asks if a rabbi can date someone who isn’t Jewish, and the answer is pretty straightforward. Everything outside of that question, however, is what makes the series worth watching.

Kristen Bell and Adam Brody are so beloved from their earlier TV roles — she was Veronica Mars; he was The O.C.’s Seth Cohen — that they could team up in a thoroughly mediocre series and we’d probably still watch it just to see them on screen together. But thankfully, their new romantic comedy Nobody Wants This (now streaming on Netflix; I’ve seen the first four episodes) is very worthy of their combined talents, putting a thoughtful and modern spin on the rom-com genre and letting its two stars shine more brightly than they have in years.

For many viewers, Netflix’s Nobody Wants This will be enjoyable simply as the very conventional, frequently likable rom-com that it is.
Sure, it’s extremely sitcom-y at every turn, but stars Kristen Bell and Adam Brody have an easy, instantly combustible chemistry that says, “In 2004 we were every smart TV fan’s favorite pair of snarky high schoolers and now, 20 years later, we’re ready to be treated like grown-ups and for everybody to remark upon how well we’ve aged.” Bell and Brody are accompanied by a supporting cast of veteran scene stealers, and creator Erin Foster has additionally given their tale a specificity that sets it apart from your average meet-cute about mismatched lovers.
Specificity, however, brings its own set of responsibilities. It isn’t that I want to get caught up in “but is it good for the Jews?” internal monologuing, but if you’re me (and most of you,...

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: A rabbi and a podcaster walk into a party, and Netflix makes a show out of it. Well, sort of. In the new romantic comedy Nobody Wants This, Adam Brody plays the rabbi, Noah, fresh out of a long-term relationship with the woman that he — and, more importantly, his intrusive family and congregation — assumed he would marry. Kristen Bell plays the podcaster, Joanne, who has built a brand on openly talking with her sister Morgan (Justine Lupe) about their messy love lives.

It’s a well-known cliché to write what you know. For creator Erin Foster (“Barely Famous”), that meant her Netflix rom-com “Nobody Wants This” came into focus during her own religious conversion, which Foster undertook a few years ago when she fell in love with her Jewish now-husband.
“There were about 23 people [in my class] and only three were converting for marriage, which tells you there was 20 very interesting stories going on in that room!” Foster told IndieWire. “And I thought it was just interesting. I hadn’t ever seen anybody explore that area, and I thought it’d be cool.”
While downloading a fellow producer on the latest conversion class goss, they suggested Foster turn her experience converting to the Jewish faith into a docuseries. But Foster was already halfway through the process, so they switched the pitch to a scripted show called “Shiksas.” The original plan was for Foster to star in it as well,...

Fall TV is upon us, but it’s not just broadcast that’s bringing out a bunch of new debuts this month, there’s also plenty of new streaming shows to keep on your radar during premiere season. Netflix, of course, is the king of exclusive streaming content, with new series from all over the world rolling out every week.
Naturally, that means there’s a lot of must-watch new shows on Netflix in September, so we’ve put together a curated guide for the best of the best, below.
“Kaos” (Netflix) “Kaos”
Technically, this one snuck in just under the wire last month, but if you haven’t watched Netflix’s take on the Greek gods, you definitely should. Jeff Goldblum stars as Zeus, who starts to spiral into divine disarray after he finds a wrinkle in his forehead and believes it’s a prophetic sign of his downfall.

When Kristen Bell and Adam Brody’s characters meet in Nobody Wants This, they immediately click. Kristen Bell and Adam Brody star in Erin Foster’s romantic comedy series Nobody Wants This. Check out the trailer below.
Nobody Wants This is Netflix’s upcoming romantic comedy series, and it follows pretty standard rom-com tropes: girl meets boy, girl falls for the boy, boy is a rabbi while the girl is an agnostic with a podcast. You know, the usual.
“Is there a world where this works?” Adam Brody’s Noah asks Joanne, played by Kristen Bell. Will love conquer all, including religion? If you ask Noah’s mother, probably not.
Check out the first Nobody Wants This trailer below.
Granted, it’s a pretty unique take on a genre that has felt a little tiresome for so long, but is definitely on the rise again.
Surprisingly, the series is loosely based on creator Erin Foster’s own experiences of meeting her husband, as she detailed in...

Netflix has dropped the official trailer for its new 10-part romantic comedy series “Nobody Wants This” that premieres September 26 on the streamer. It comes from executive producer Erin Foster and stars Kristen Bell, Adam Brody, Justine Lupe and Timothy Simons, with the cast also featuring Stephanie Faracy, Tovah Feldshuh, Paul Ben-Victor, Michael Hitchcock, Jackie Tohn, Sherry Cola and Shiloh Bearman. The “Nobody Wants This” synopsis is as follows: An agnostic podcast host and an unconventional rabbi on the rebound walk into a party. When they walk out – together – the unlikely pair, Joanne (Bell) and Noah (Brody), can tell there is something between them. But also potentially between them, with their differing outlooks on life and all of the modern obstacles to love, are their sometimes well-meaning, sometimes sabotaging families – including her sister Morgan (Lupe) and his brother Sasha (Simons).
Creator Foster says in a Tudum.

"Are you dating hot rabbi?" "Yes, chef!" Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a romantic comedy series titled Nobody Wants This, streaming this fall. The love story series is created & written by actress Erin Foster, following the unexpected relationship between a rogue rabbi and an irascible, loud, agnostic woman. "This show really represents how I view love now, which is so different than how I viewed it before," Erin states. "Being in a really beautiful, healthy, fun relationship, it made me soften some of my cynicism." She adds: "This show is based on the only good decision I ever made: falling for a nice Jewish boy. But I realized that being happy is way harder than being miserable — there’s nothing to complain about. So, I created this show based on all the ways that finding the right person can be so hard." Okay. Kristen Bell and Adam Brody...

Kristen Bell and Adam Brody's long-awaited Netflix romantic comedy series finally has a title... and a release date... and a first-look photo! On May 15, Netflix revealed the funny and talented pair star in the comedy series Nobody Wants This and all 10 episodes will be released on Thursday, Sept. 26.
Netflix isn't the first to bring the former 2000s teen drama stars together. Bell and Brody both appeared in 2011's Scream 4, though they didn't share scenes. Brody also appeared in three episodes of Bell's Showtime series House of Lies in 2013. However, their biggest connection might be Gossip Girl. The Veronica Mars star provided the narration for The CW's teen drama, while Brody ended up marrying series star Leighton Meester. What a small world!
Nobody Wants This was first announced in March 2023 with Bell attached to the comedy from creator Erin Foster and executive producer Steven Levithan, who's best known for Modern Family.
