If ‘Yellowstone’ is going to go out, it’s going to go out with a big bang. But I gotta ask, are you sure Taylor Sheridan is ready to end ‘Yellowstone,’ because so far, all we’ve seen is massive action scenes that do nothing to show any type of ending, whatsoever.
Kevin Costner’s John Dutton Dominates ‘Yellowstone’ Season 5 Part 2 Trailer
“Everyone’s forgotten who runs this valley,” Costner’s John Dutton kicks off the trailer, saying. We hear dramatic music as the scenes flash through different familiar faces, and then “time to remind ’em.”
Yassssss, but if you think that’s the ultimate intensity we’ve got coming up, it isn’t. The thing is the Duttons are prepared to protect the family legacy – aka the ranch – with their lives, even as fierce rivals and enemies soar around them. But perhaps the enemy that may well do more...

The Dutton family civil war in Yellowstone breaks out into open warfare in the official trailer for the second half of season five.
“I can’t do this anymore,” anxious cattle rancher’s daughter Beth Dutton, played by Kelly Reilly, says at one point in the trailer. “Well, you’re gonna have to, honey. Or we’re gonna lose this place,” her ranch hand husband, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), warns her as the Paramount Network drama makes its long-awaiting return after the first five episodes of season five ended back in January 2023.
“This war is just beginning,” says Kevin Costner, who is not returning after his high-profile exit from the Yellowstone ranch as John Dutton, and yet appears very much in the trailer in scenes likely to wrap his character. In a major cast disruption, Costner left the show after the fifth season hiatus for Yellowstone, partly to focus on his Horizon film saga.

The Yellowstone saga will soon be ending its run and the Dutton family headed by Kevin Costner’s John Dutton will soon be gone, once and for all. While the first part of season 5, which is in talks to be the final season for encompassing this Dutton family generation’s story, was already released in late 2022, the second part is waiting right around the corner to be released.

Well, television shows have to pull out every trick in the book to keep their secrets from leaking like a sieve. The cast of the popular series Yellowstone, for instance, experienced a new level of secrecy. The scripts for the upcoming fifth season (part B) arrived with more blacked-out lines, especially following Kevin Costner’s announced exit from the show.

This approach ensures that no plot details get out, particularly regarding John Dutton’s impending dramatic farewell. Yes, Costner’s character might be taking a bow, but isn’t it fascinating how this secrecy could potentially elevate the cast’s performances? As Christina Alexandra Voros, the series director, puts it, this season’s unique challenges stand out.

The season five return of Yellowstone is so secretive that not even the cast knows how it’s all going to play out. The show’s stars revealed on Friday that the back half of the season came with redacted scripts so the actors would only know their own lines, eliciting real-time reactions in some cases as they filmed the show’s return, which is in production in Montana and airs later this fall.
“This season has been very secretive,” says Kelsey Asbille, who plays Monica Dutton, in a revealing video tease released by Paramount Network on Friday (below) that includes interviews with the main castmembers who make up the Dutton family — Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Luke Grimes and Cole Hauser. Star Kevin Costner, who played patriarch John Dutton, famously exited the series ahead of the final run, and how the show will handle his storyline remains under lock and key.

[This story contains spoilers from 1883, 1923 and Yellowstone season five, so far.]
With each new series in the megahit Yellowstone franchise, a new generation of Duttons emerges. After launching in 2018 with Kevin Costner’s central patriarch John Dutton and his immediate family, creator Taylor Sheridan traveled back in time to expand the franchise and introduce elder generations of Duttons, first with the single season of 1883 and now with the series 1923, which is in production on its second and final season.
The Dutton family tree has branched out as Yellowstone has been airing, with the flagship series currently at the halfway point in its fifth and final run. First, viewers followed James (Tim McGraw) and Margaret Dutton (Faith Hill) on their family’s treacherous journey west through the Great Plains in 1883, a trek that would ultimately lead to what becomes the Yellowstone ranch of the flagship series. And later, 1923 would introduce the audience to Jacob (Harrison Ford) and Cara Dutton (Helen Mirren), the...

Isn’t it true that every cloud has a silver lining? Taylor Sheridan, the maestro behind the cinematic tapestry we know as Yellowstone, earlier shot to fame through the keen edge of his pen with talented screenplays like Sicario & Hell or High Water. However, it was his Wind River that weaved a web of neo-Western crime mystery so enthralling that it ensnares us with its relevance and thought-provoking narrative.

Sheridan’s adept incorporation of harrowing real-life crime input into this chilling tale lent it a gravity that cannot be ignored, serving as a grim reflection of society’s darker undertones. In Wind River, we are introduced to Cory Lambert (portrayed by Jeremy Renner), a diligent game hunter, whose discovery of a young woman’s body in the desolate, frostbitten wilderness catapults us into a heart-wrenching saga of brutality.

Taylor Sheridan’s knack for recognizing a diamond in the rough is no secret among those who walk down the boulevards of Tinseltown. This was unmistakably the case when the mastermind behind the sprawling Yellowstone cosmos failed to recognize Dawn Olivieri outside her austere 1883 role as Claire Dutton.

Yet, her red carpet transformation during the 1883 premier was not just a head-turner; it was a game-changer. Olivieri’s allure struck Sheridan like lightning, compelling him to immediately offer her another plum role, this time in Yellowstone. The actress, who had portrayed the stark-faced, widowed Claire Dutton in 1883, later portrayed the gorgeous, sly temptress Sarah Atwood, which was a complete contrast.

Living on the rugged terrain of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch is anything but ordinary. From the deft lassoing of cattle to the familial tensions sparking drama at every turn, this is where the essence of modern cowboy tales comes to life.

Taylor Sheridan’s expanding Yellowstone universe is in constant need of actors willing to dive straight into the narrative and diligently play their individual parts in the progression of the larger story. As such, it may not come as a surprise when actors who already had a role in one Sheridan series suddenly pop up in another spin-off series taking place entirely in another timeline.

The main cast of Yellowstone was notably missing from the PaleyFest and star Kelly Reilly is clearing things up.
Reilly took to Instagram to share a photo with co-star Brian Cox on the set of a new project she is working on. One of Reilly’s followers took the opportunity to ask her why she was not present at the fan event.
“I was filming in the UK at the time, and let them know in January I wouldn’t be able to attend,” Reilly replied. “I was sorry to hear my name was still on the list of attendees, as it is unfair to our fans.”

“Truth won’t win the battle… menace will,” tough-as-nails “Yellowstone” patriarch John Dutton utters coldly and indignantly in the lead-up to the devastating conclusion of a rip-roaring first half of the Paramount Network blockbuster’s fifth season. The first eight episodes of the show’s fifth season concluded in January, so fans of TV’s top-rated show are now clamoring for the series’ return. The second half of the season is due later this year, promising even more bloodshed and tears, political in-fighting, back-stabbing, fist-fights and corporate scheming set against the breathtaking backdrop of the unforgiving Montana wilderness.

Yellowstone continues to be one of the most successful shows on television, but the end appears to be in sight. Reports regarding Kevin Costner’s disinterest in playing John Dutton were given more veracity by the cast’s sudden u-turn at a recent press event. Costner’s exit is not yet official, but his departure from Dutton Ranch now seems to be a matter of when not if.

In season 5 of Taylor Sheridan's "Yellowstone," there are plenty of power couples vying for your attention and affection. Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) and his conspiring new girlfriend Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri) are plotting to instate Jamie as governor of Montana, while Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) continue their epic romance after finally tying the knot in the season 4 finale. The unlikely coupling of the tomboyish Teeter (Jen Landon) and Colby (Denim Richards) is undeniably the sweetest relationship that's emerged on the hit show, and the chemistry between Landon and Jackson is reminiscent of old playground crushes where there's more hair-pulling going on than any actual kissing. Working together on the Yellowstone Ranch, Teeter set her eyes on Colby early on in the bunkhouse and never looked back, even if she probably could have seduced any roughneck in town.

The cast of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” celebrated their final season on the closing night of PaleyFest Tuesday – but not before lightly ribbing the ensemble of “Yellowstone” for ditching their scheduled festival appearance last-minute.

Taylor Sheridan's remarkable "Yellowstone" series continues to delight audiences with its gritty western tropes, fearless characters, and delectable storytelling. What started as a reasonably straightforward saga about a man struggling to keep his vast Montana property has morphed into a full-fledged universe shared by spinoffs "1883" and "1923," respectively, with more on the way. Each entry deepens the Dutton family lore and forms a remarkable portrait of an imperfect family forever bound to a magnificent piece of land by blood.
Still, for all of its ambition, "Yellowstone" is an incredibly bumpy ride filled with magnificent highs and head-scratching lows. Sheridan occasionally leans too hard into cartoonish violence and contrived plot points to settle pivotal character arcs. In his quest to deliver binge-worthy entertainment, he sometimes loses sight of the bigger picture. No iteration of "Yellowstone" is terrible, but some seasons/shows are significantly better than others. Read on to view every...

Kevin Costner’s future with Yellowstone has seemingly been confirmed.
Fans of the Western drama were recently shocked by the claims that Costner would step away from his role as the head of the Dutton family.
The reports stated that Costner’s alleged decision had prompted creator, Sicario and Hell or High Water writer Taylor Sheridan, to bring the show to an end. A spin-off starring Matthew McConaughey is said to be in the works.
It had previously been claimed that Sheridan locked heads with Costner, who won a Golden Globe for his role in January, over the actor’s shooting schedules for another project, which left the Yellowstone crew with minimal time to complete filming.
The actor’s attorney refuted this claim, stating: “The idea that Kevin was only willing to work one week on the second half of season five of Yellowstone is an absolute lie.”

With the future of Yellowstone in question, many thought the cast appearing alongside each other at PaleyFest would help quell the fears the show was on the brink of cancellation.
PaleyFest revealed earlier this year that all the prominent cast members, including Kevin Costner, Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, Luke Grimes, Kelsey Asbille, Wes Betley, Gil Birmingham, and Jacki Weaver.
Also supposed to be in attendance were EPs Taylor Sheridan and David Glasser.
However, things took a turn when the press were informed just ahead of the red carpet that only four people from the cast would be present.
Josh Lucas, Wendy Moniz, Mo Brings Plenty, and Dawn Olivieri were the four cast members who attended the event.
Given the April 1 date of the panel, we can only imagine many thought it was a big April Fool's Day joke and that the cast would pop up when those in attendance least expected it.

It was no April Fool’s joke: Yellowstone fans who were expecting to hear from Taylor Sheridan and his drama’s biggest stars were no-shows at PaleyFest in Los Angeles Saturday.
When the panel was first announced, fans were promised a starry lineup that included all the main cast members like Kevin Costner, Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, Luke Grimes, Kelsey Asbille, Wes Betley, Gil Birmingham and Jacki Weaver. However, when the time came to celebrate Yellowstone at the Dolby Theatre Saturday night, the lineup drastically changed, despite the website still showing all the stars and EPs earlier in the day.
After screening episode 507 titled “The Dream Is Not Me,” fans were then told by a PaleyFest rep that the panel lineup had changed because of “scheduling conflicts.

This 1923 review contains spoilers for the episode and the Yellowstone universe at large.
1923 Episode 5

Taylor Sheridan, Paramount’s country-fed celebutante, has been able to tap into something with his rabid audience that transcends political affiliation, gender, and age, and he’s been able to do it consistently for the better part of half a decade. The longevity of his empire is certainly one of the more impressive aspects, as he expands not only the Yellowstone universe, but his impressive catalog of shows, and he’s able to do so, because he seemingly knows how his audience is feeling.
Perhaps, however, he’s mirroring that a little too much. After a short hiatus, the second prequel in the aforementioned Dutton-saga, 1923 returned with “Ghost of Zebrina.” The...

The Dutton family cemetery makes more sense after 1883 revealed that Elsa was the first person to be buried on the land. However, Yellowstone and its prequels have shown clips of headstones with names that fans have yet to meet, like Patience, Chance, and Ned Dutton. Here’s who these characters might be.

This interview contains spoilers for Yellowstone season 5 and 1883.
The Taylor Sheridan family, much like the television empire the Academy Award nominated writer is building, has grown extensively over the last couple of years. The creator has brought in some amazing talent to his shows, including icons such as Jeremy Renner (Mayor of Kingstown), Sam Elliott (1883), Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren (1923), and Sylvester Stalone (Tulsa King). Yet any fan of Sheridan’s work knows that these stars are not necessarily the face of their respective series. In reality, it’s all about the pool of experienced and diverse actors that populate them.
Dawn Olivieri, best known for her stint on House of Lies as Monica Talbot, is the kind of actor who has proven herself to come into a show and make a major impact, regardless of how much time she is given on screen. Her filmography includes recurring roles on The Vampire Diaries,...
