Eladio Carrión is stripping back his music for El Tiny. On Sunday, the Puerto Rican trap star visited NPR Music for a performance that featured special guest, the singer Lia Kali, and a sweet serenade for his mom, who was in the crowd.
Carrión opened his Tiny Desk debut by dropping the bars to his tracks “Gladiador” and “Air France,” backed by his band and trio of background vocalists including Devin Velez, Alexandria Dopson, and Tayler Green. After some claps and cheers, Carrión went straight into the head bop-inducing “Tata” from 2021’s Monarca.

Back in 2002, Nelly Furtado and Juanes teamed up for “Fotografía,” a wistful guitar ballad that hit Number One on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs and Latin Pop Airplay charts. At the time, both artists had rocketed to stardom with their debut albums, Furtado with Whoa Nelly! and Juanes with Fijate Bien. “Fotografía” united two forces from different parts of the industry and put their chemistry front and center, showcasing Furtado singing in Spanish for the first time. Alborán first took the stage alone, before Becerra joined him in a light pink dress as the two performed their Song of the Year nod on a lit-up stage. The musicians were backed by a string ensemble.
The two artists ended their rendition within a bright circle reminiscent of Alborán’s La Cuarta Hoja album cover.

It’s Rauw Alejandro’s planet and we’re just living in it. The Puerto Rican reggaeton star just took the stage at the Latin Grammys in Seville, Spain Thursday to perform a medley of songs, along with a tribute to Laura Pausini and a performance with Juanes.
Rauw opened his performance with a pre-recorded, autotune-supported rendition of Pausini’s ballad “Se Fue” while surrounded by candles and a ring of fire. (Was that aimed at Rosalía?)

Best New Artist past and present nominees united! Colombian rocker Juanes, who won the award back in 2001, performed alongside several of the nominees in the category at the Latin Grammys in Seville.
Armed with his guitar, Juanes ripped through his heartbreaking single “Gris.” The song reflected a moment of marital struggles that he faced while in quarantine during the Covid-19 pandemic with his wife and family that they fortunately worked through. Another bright spot to the performance was the team of Best New Artist nominees behind him like a chorus.

Leading up to the Grammy nominations on Nov. 10, Rolling Stone is breaking down 16 different categories. For each, we’re predicting the nominees, as well as who will (and who should) win on Grammy night.
This category can feel like a grab bag of indie and alternative experiments that don’t fit elsewhere (Rosalía’s Motomami at the last Grammy show). This year, though, it seems straightforward Latin rockers have the best chances: Juanes’ Vida Cotidiana is an industry favorite from one of the most beloved stars in the Spanish-speaking world,...

YouTube is a top distribution platform for creators, but the Google-owned hub wants to integrate itself into the production pipeline, too. At its Made On YouTube event, CEO Neal Mohan announced multiple AI-driven tools that are designed to provide inspiration and streamline the video creation process.
The new tools will enhance the creator experience on YouTube Shorts. Three years after unveiling its TikTok competitor, YouTube is helping its short-form community concoct videos that are out of this world. The platform’s Dream Screen will bring “fantastic settings” to Shorts by harnessing the power of generative AI. Users will input setting ideas into the Dream Screen and receive AI-generated backgrounds in response.
During the Made On event, Mohan claimed that YouTube’s push into AI will open up new opportunities for aspiring creators. “Many people today believe that becoming a YouTuber is out of their reach,” Mohan said. “At YouTube,...

With artificial intelligence currently front and center across the creative community, YouTube has published a set of AI music principles and launched something it’s calling the YouTube Music AI Incubator with a group of artists, songwriters and producers from Universal Music Group.
The principles, which the giant Alphabet/Google-owned platform said “are rooted in its commitment to collaborate with the music industry alongside bold and responsible innovation in the space” are three. They were developed with Umg chairman-ceo, Sir Lucian Grainge, and shared today by YouTube CEO Neal Mohan.
They include: a commitment to embrace AI responsibly in partnership with the music industry; protections “that help balance the interests of copyright holders with those of the creative community on YouTube”; and scaling up safeguards to AI-generated content to address challenges like trademark and copyright abuse, misinformation, spam.

YouTube thinks it can take an ethical, “artist-centric” approach to generative AI.
In partnership with Universal Music Group, it’s introducing a “Music AI Incubator,” which CEO Neal Mohan says will help it “gather insights” to “better understand how these technologies can be most valuable for artists and fans, how they can enhance creativity, and where we can seek to solve critical issues for the future.”
The incubator will bring in Umg and artists/producers on its roster, including Anitta, Björn Ulvaeus, d4vd, Don Was, Juanes, Louis Bell, Max Richter, Rodney Jerkins, Rosanne Cash, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, Yo Gotti, and the estate of Frank Sinatra.
YouTube gave no specific details about what it’s working on with the incubator, but Mohan says it’s developing “specific technologies, monetization opportunities, and policies”–all related to AI.
Mohan also claims YouTube’s potential use of generative AI is guided by ethical principles.

As conversations around artificial intelligence continue, YouTube has published its first set of principles regarding AI music. Not only that, but the video streaming site owned by Google has also launched its own YouTube Music AI Incubator.
The three principles were shared by YouTube CEO, Neal Mohan. According to the company, these fundamental principles reflect the company’s “commitment to collaborate with the music industry alongside bold and responsible innovation in the space.” Here are the three principles in full:

In our Q&a feature series Tell Me Más, we ask some of our favorite Latine artists to answer the questions only their BFFs know about them, revealing everything from their most recent read to the songs that get them hyped. This month, we sit down with Puerto Rican alternative indie artist Melissa Ocasio.
Since the pandemic, Puerto Rico's indie music scene has exploded. It's as if the island births new talent by the hour - and it can seem almost impossible to keep up. One of the artists who emerged during this renaissance is Melissa Ocasio. The Boricua artist has been making a name for herself as an alternative indie meets electro-Caribbean artist, ever since she released her first official single "Agárrate," a call-to-action song about the femicides happening in Puerto Rico.
On March 6, 2020, Ocasio released "Agárrate" to the world. But the song was actually two years in the making.

Throughout history, many experts have studied the dichotomy that seems to exist between fear and love. It’s easy to think about that when examining Juanes’ career: First, there was the innocence and passion of the Colombian star’s Ekhymosis era and his first years as a solo artist. Then came outstanding success, a deep bond with an enormous audience, and–this is quite logical – intense pressures over time. P.A.R.C.E., for example, was a record landed far from the expectations of audiences and the media, who...

Who didn’t Tony Bennett duet with?
The legendary singer was famously known for his Grammy-winning, platinum-selling Duet albums that featured everyone from Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse to Aretha Franklin and Barbra Streisand.
Here, we celebrate the collaborative efforts of Bennett, who died Friday at age 96.
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga ditched the upbeat, electronic dance sound that made her popular to work with Bennett on jazz music, a genre she had been singing since she was a teenager. The New Yorkers first collaborated on “The Lady Is a Tramp” from Bennett’s 2011 release Duets II. The pairing was so perfect they went on to record 2014’s Cheek to Cheek, with Bennett and Gaga hoping to turn more kids to jazz music. “[Gaga] has a vast group of young people who love her, and they’ve never heard popular jazz music, classical American music … and my ambition was to do this...
