The Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg-produced World War II series Masters of the Air has something that its predecessors did not: a bona fide movie star in the lead role. Thanks to his award-winning role as the King himself in 2022’s Elvis, Austin Butler has burst onto the scene as a major acting force. And he brings that gravitas with him to portray Gale “Buck” Cleven in the nine-episode Apple TV+ series about WWII bomber pilots.
Cleven is the perfect role for the brooding Butler – a quiet, confident figure that the rest of his crew looks up to. Cleven also serves as the culmination of years of work for the actor just as much as the Elvis Presley gig did. As a teen, Butler made the Disney and Nickelodeon TV show circuit via a mix of one-off and recurring roles on Zoey 101, Hannah Montana, iCarly, Wizards of Waverly Place,...

"Don't talk – otherwise my dad will kill you." Cranked Up Films has debuted an official trailer for a strange indie dark comedy titled This Game's Called Murder, the latest cinema creation from writer / director Adam Sherman. A modern, dark-humored tale of greed, romance, and lost innocence in consumer-crazed, alienated society that functions as a harsh critique of society today without taking itself too seriously. This hasn't played at any festivals, and will be dropping directly into two cinemas + on VOD this December. The film is about the wacky, weird, extremely wealthy Wallendorf Family. The eccentric Wallendorf’s struggle to maintain the facade of a prominent successful family while their violent nature rips them apart. The film stars Ron Perlman, Natasha Henstridge, Vanessa Marano, James Lastovic, Nicole Sousa, Nikko Austen Smith, and Tory Devon Smith. This looks like there's way too many big ideas that clash with each other, despite a...

"Of course your life's a mess, you're a teenager!" Vertical Entertainment has revealed an official trailer for a romantic comedy, teen road trip movie called This Is the Year, marking the feature directorial debut of actor David Henrie, who partnered with his "Wizards of Waverly Place" cast-mate Selena Gomez to make this. As fun as it may be, this year and last year don't seem like "this year" unfortunately, especially with regards to a music festival. In a last ditch effort to win over the girl of his dreams, a nerdy high school senior and his best friends embark on a road trip to see their favorite band at the biggest music festival of the year. Lorenzo Henrie co-stars in this with his brother David Henrie, joined by Gregg Sulkin, also an alumna of "Wizards of Waverly Place", along with Vanessa Marano, Jake Short, Jeff Garlin, Alyssa Jirrels, and Bug Hall.

Gravitas Ventures has acquired U.S. rights to The Gig Is Up, Shannon Walsh’s feature documentary that explores the real costs of the controversial gig economy through the lives of workers from around the world for companies including Uber, Amazon and Deliveroo. The deal comes after London-based sales outfit Dogwoof acquired world rights at the European Film Market. Gravitas will now release the film October 8 in theaters and on-demand.
From delivering food and driving ride shares to tagging images for AI, millions of people are finding work task by task online, with the gig economy worth more than $5 trillion and growing worldwide. The pic tells the stories of the workers behind this tech revolution who have gone largely neglected amid often dangerous work conditions, inconsistent pay and the threat of being effectively fired through deactivation or a bad rating.

There have been a number of fairly recent horror/thriller movies that have been marketed as the horror or ‘adult’ version of Home Alone. Now, Home Alone is one of my favourite movies ever and a more adult orientated version should be perfect. Unfortunately it’s not quite as simple as that and although 1989’s Deadly Games is great, nothing since has really captured that same Christmas feeling with a bit more of an edge. How To Deter A Robber is the latest movie to try.
In it, we see a young couple initially suspected of the number of burglaries in their small town. But when their own home gets robbed, they have to face off against the real criminals.

The story of a high school girl who’s forced — alongside her dimwitted boyfriend and kind uncle — to fend off a pair of armed thieves, “How to Deter a Robber” delivers the blandest take possible on its home-invasion scenario. With low stakes and even lower energy, writer-director Maria Bissell’s feature debut isn’t sure if it’s a thriller with amusing elements or a comedy of criminal absurdity. What it winds up being, therefore, is neither,

David Henrie is making his feature-film directorial debut with Bold Entertainment's This Is the Year, and he has a few familiar faces joining him for the ride. The comedy, which Henrie also wrote, follows a high school senior (played by his brother Lorenzo) as he attempts to win over his longtime crush by embarking on a road trip to see their favorite band at a musical festival. What ensues is an action-packed adventure filled with some surprising self-realizations.

Selena Gomez and David Henrie Reunite for Bold Entertainment’s Debut Feature Film ‘This Is The Year’
Bold Entertainment and Novo Media Group, LLC, are pleased to announce the first-ever, interactive, virtual movie premiere on August 28th for their first film, This Is The Year.
The film is directed by David Henrie, with his longtime friend Selena Gomez signing on as Executive Producer. The one-night-only event brings the two former co-stars of Wizards of Waverly Place back together and adds many more next-generation stars in the cast and throughout the live event.
This Is The Year is a contemporary spin on many of the classic 80’s movies that resonated with that era’s youth. It aims to address the issues facing teens today – high school friendships, romances, escapades, change and more – speaking their language and breaking through with a story that actually means something.
“I’m so excited to reunite with my friend David on our feel-good, coming-of-age film, This Is The Year,” said Selena. “With all...

"Is there something you want to confess?" Rlje Films has debuted a full trailer for an indie psychological thriller titled Confessional, made by filmmaker Brad T. Gottfred (Orgies and the Meaning of Life). This originally premiered at the Chattanooga Film Festival last year, and is already streaming on Shudder if you want to catch it now. After two seemingly unconnected deaths at a college on the same night, seven students receive invitations to a confessional booth hidden on campus. Uh oh... Their confessions slowly unveil the truth behind the deaths and the mysterious person who brought all of them to the booth. Confessional stars Marcus Scribner, Vanessa Marano, Lucas Adams, Jess Gabor, Brandon Larracuente, Jake Short, Annalisa Cochrane, Paris Berelc, and Mia Xitali. This is a cool concept, but it's not easy to pull this off as a film. From the looks of it, this will certainly by suspenseful. I...

We're going to let you finish, Dakota and Elle Fanning, but Vanessa and Laura Marano may just have you beat as the cutest celeb sisters of all time. Vanessa Marano and younger sister Laura Marano are true sister goals, especially considering the two of them just coproduced (and starred in) their first movie together. Along with their mother Ellen, the sisters helped adapt Alyson Noël's 2007 novel, Saving Zoë, which tells the story of Echo (played by Laura), who enters high school still trying to understand her older sister Zoë's (played by Vanessa) murder, only to find out her sibling was a victim of sexual exploitation. The movie is scary good, and it's partially due to the incredible chemistry (both on screen and off) between the sisters. Just look at these 120 photos to see how cute these lookalike siblings are together.

While Netflix's The Perfect Date starring Laura Marano and Noah Centineo doesn't have your typical love story, it does have perfect timing. At least it does for Marano, who got the role of the wise-cracking Celia Lieberman right after she wrote her latest single, "Lie to Me," which happens to connect with the film's theme pretty damn well.
"I didn't write [the song] originally for The Perfect Date, but it ended up working perfectly for it," Marano told Popsugar over the phone. "I wrote it during some writing sessions in Sweden, and it was basically about a relationship that I wanted so badly to be something real and beautiful - and it felt real and beautiful - but I had a bit of a wall up, so I wasn't sure if it was completely genuine from the other person. At one point I was just like, 'I don't care, I'm having...
