Although Foster based it on their story, Tikham is not a rabbi. However, the showrunner used him as her inspiration to create Noah, who she wanted to be "emotionally available, chivalrous, old-fashioned ... but also really funny and confident."

Exclusive: Nobody Wants This is not living up to its title because Netflix definitely wants more, renewing the hit romantic comedy starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody for a second season. The pickup, which will be revealed this morning by Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria, comes with a showrunner change on the breakout series, created and executive produced by Erin Foster who remains its creative voice.

Justine Lupe and Timothy Simons will appear in series regular roles opposite previously announced stars Kristen Bell and Adam Brody.

ABC made the shocking decision to cancel Home Economics last week after three seasons.

Series co-creator Michael Colton took to social media over the weekend to reflect on working on the show and the next steps.

"I spent a couple days off Twitter, so I'm just now catching up to the outpouring of love and support for our show," Colton wrote on X on Sunday.

"Making 42 episodes of Home Economics has been the best experience of my career, and that's due to our incredible cast, crew, and fans…"

"Though the show has run its course at ABC, I'm hopeful the Hayworths will pop up somewhere else, if only so I can continue to embarrass my real-life family. Love you all, and #LupeForever."

It's notoriously difficult to save a series after its cancellation because the cast options expire, complicating a renewal.

The comedy series, which is based on the life of writer and executive producer Michael Colton, revolved around the heartwarming yet super uncomfortable and sometimes frustrating relationship between three adult siblings: one who’s in the one percent, one who’s middle class and one who’s barely holding on.

The series starred Topher Grace, Caitlin McGee, Jimmy Tatro, Karla Souza and Sasheer Zamata and featured Shiloh Bearman, Jordyn Curet, Chloe Jo Rountree and JeCobi Swain. Grace also executive produced alongside Eric and Kim Tannenbaum of The Tannenbaum Company. Jason Wang also served as a coexecutive producer.

ABC has canceled the comedy series “Home Economics” after three seasons, Variety has learned. In addition, the new series “High Potential” starring Kaitlin Olson is now slated to debut in fall 2024.

“Home Economics” aired its third season finale in January of this year, which will now serve as its series finale. The series was one of just two ABC shows that remained on the bubble, with the other being the spinoff “The Rookie: Feds.”

“Home Economics” was a solid performer for ABC but never quite a breakout. ABC picked up the show for a 13 episode third season but then declined to expand the order beyond that. Fans of the show were given a glimmer of hope over the summer when ABC reportedly extended the casts’ options, meaning they were still considering a fourth season, but it ultimately did not come to pass.

We’ve learned that cast options have been extended beyond the June 30 deadline, possibly indicating that renewal prospects are good for the comedy series that remains on the bubble. There has been no decision on a renewal yet, however, we hear.

Home Economics and The Rookie: Feds are the two ABC series that remain in limbo. As we’ve previously reported, after three seasons, Home Economics has performed respectably, especially in the 18-49 demo, even ticking up in the ratings with Abbott Elementary as a lead-in, but it has not found an extra gear.

ABC still has some decisions to make on its scripted slate.

Deadline understands that ABC is unlikely to make all of these decisions until the writers strike is over and the future of the fall season is clearer. A decision on Home Economics may come first out of the three.

Trio of comedies “The Conners,” “The Wonder Years” and “Home Economics” have been renewed for new seasons at ABC, the broadcaster revealed Friday.

All three series will air their respective season finales Wednesday, May 18.

“The Conners” has been picked up for a fifth season by the Disney-owned network. Season 4 of the comedy series debuted in September.

The show is a spinoff continuation of “Roseanne,” which was canceled after one revival season in 2018 due to controversial remarks made by series star Roseanne Barr.

In Season 4, the Conners continue to face the daily struggles of life in Lanford. This family—Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky and D.J.—grapples with parenthood, dating, financial pressures and aging in working-class America.

ABC will invest in yet another season of Home Economics, renewing the comedy from Michael Colton and John Aboud (Penguins of Madagascar) for season 3.

Home Economics, inspired by Colton’s real-life experiences, documents the uncomfortable yet heartwarming relationships of three siblings in very different situations: one in the ultra-rich, one in the middle class and one scraping by. The series stars Topher Grace, Caitlin McGee, Jimmy Tatro, Karla Souza, Sasheer Zamata, Shiloh Bearman, Jordyn Curet, Chloe Jo Rountree and JeCobi Swain.

Season 2 of Home Economics made an okay premiere in September with a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demo and 2.17 million followers. The comedy has since dipped slightly in the demo, but rose and remained steady in recent weeks with a 0.3 rating.

Colton and Aboud serve as executive producers alongside Grace and Eric and Kim Tannenbaum of The Tannenbaum Company, whose Jason Wang co-executive produces along with Tucker Cawley and Julieanne Smolinski.

The network on Tuesday announced full-season pickups for The Wonder Years and Home Economics.

Both shows have performed well enough to stick around for the entire season.

The Wonder Years launched with 3.2 million viewers and a 0.7 rating in the demo.

With delayed viewing factored in, it built to 6.4 million viewers and a 1.9 rating.

It is averaging 4.8 million viewers, and a 1.3 rating with Live+7 factored in across its episodes to date, proving there is an audience for the reboot.

The cast includes Elisha "Ej" Williams, Dulé Hill, Saycon Sengbloh, Laura Kariuki, Amari O'Neil, Julian Lerner, and Milan Ray.

As for Home Economics, it is averaging 2 million viewers and a 0.4 rating, with the numbers rising to 3.6 million and a 0.9 with delayed viewing factored in.

ABC announced that “The Wonder Years” and “Home Economics” have both received nine-episode back orders to round out their current seasons.

“The Wonder Years,” a reboot of the 1988 ABC sitcom of the same name, had its series premiere on Sept. 22 with new episodes airing weekly on Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. The coming-of-age comedy, this time centered on a Black family, follows the middle class Williams family through late ‘60s Montgomery, Alabama via the perspective of 12-year-old Dean. Dulé Hill, Saycon Sengbloh, Laura Kariuki, Julian Lerner, Amari O’Neil and Milan Ray also star in the series, which is produced by 20th Television and executive produced by Lee Daniels, Saladin K. “The Goldbergs” has been renewed for Season 9. The series stars Jeff Garlin, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Sean Giambrone, Troy Gentile, Hayley Orrantia, Sam Lerner and Patton Oswalt (as the narrator). Fellow star George Segal passed away in March. The show paid tribute to Segal twice after his passing, first with an “In Memoriam” end card on the March 24 episode and then with a longer video montage at the end of the April 7 episode.

The series was created by Adam F. Goldberg, who also executive produces.
