Also, the first season tells drug queenpin Griselda Blanco's complete life story, so a second season wouldn't be necessary. However, that doesn't mean we've seen the last of Sofia Vergara and the Griselda creative team.
In an August 2024 interview with Variety, Vergara and Griselda co-creator Eric Newman discussed, among other things, the crime drama's success at Netflix, working together, and future potential projects.

Despite its status as the highest-grossing indie film since 2019’s “Parasite,” “Sound of Freedom” has been dismissed as a QAnon fever dream by large swaths of the mainstream media. But that derisive label is “so ridiculous” to the film’s writer-director Alejandro Monteverde, who began working on the project in 2015, two years before QAnon emerged.
“The origin [of the film] has been avoided, purposely or accidentally, in the media,” Monteverde said. “The origin will answer a lot of these misconceptions on the film.”
Back in 2015, the Mexico-born, L.A.-based Monteverde says he was unaware of the scourge of child sex trafficking until he watched a network news segment on the subject. What he learned “shook my soul because I didn’t really believe it [existed],” he says. “I just, in my head, could not put those two pieces together — an adult and a child.”
That night, he couldn’t sleep. So, the next morning,...

The Jim Caviezel film Sound of Freedom made a splash at the box office after seemingly coming out of nowhere. However, it had a bumpy road to release after its initial producers, 20th Century Fox, had been acquired by Disney, and the film would wait to be unveiled after crowdfunding gave it a new life. Sound of Freedom is one of the notable films of the summer as it rose out of obscurity to garner around $130 million in its domestic run while hoping to bring awareness to a heavy subject akin to movies like Taken, Skin Trade, and the Academy Award-winning Spotlight.
The film’s distributor, Angel Studios, has recently announced their plans to expand their screenings into worldwide markets. According to The Hollywood Reporter, on Wednesday, the studio “announced release dates for 21 markets, including the U.K., Australia, Spain, South Africa and a host of countries in Latin America.

Physicist Dr. Ben Song (Raymond Lee) leaps from being part of a gang attempting to steal the Hope Diamond in episode one to being a member of the Atlantis space shuttle crew in NBC’s Quantum Leap episode two. All his friends and fellow lab employees hoped he’d leap from 1985 back to the present, but that’s definitely not the case as he’s currently stuck in 1998.
The space shuttle successfully launches and even reluctant traveler Ben’s wowed by the view from space. Their mission is to put the first piece of the International Space Station in place, and he listens to pilot Samantha Stratton (Carly Pope) and Commander Jim Reynolds (Jose Zuniga) exchange friendly banter. Stratton promises she’s going to make Reynolds proud as Ben is mesmerized by the stars.

Chicago P.D. is back for Season 10 on September 21. Here, Tracy Spiridakos, who plays Detective Hailey Upton, breaks down what you need to know ahead of the highly anticipated premiere — the first episode since Jesse Lee Soffer‘s exit was announced. Where We Left Off In his efforts to bring in elusive drug kingpin Javier Escano (José Zúñiga), Sgt. Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) put confidential informant Anna’s (Carmela Zumbado) life in jeopardy. And in the drama’s Season 9 finale, Voight and Hailey discovered the dying Escano who, with his last breath, named Anna as his killer. Anna refused to go quietly and shot Voight, prompting Hailey to fire back, ultimately killing the Ci. Where We Pick Up Season 10 starts about two weeks after the shooting — and Voight and Upton “haven’t really discussed what’s happened,” Spiridakos says. That causes a world of tension between the pair. “Hailey is worried about Voight,...

Has Intelligence just lost one of its own? Heading into the Chicago P.D. finale (airing May 25), things aren’t looking good for Detective Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos), who was left unconscious after she and Detective Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) were close to an explosion during the team’s moves against Javier Escano (José Zúñiga). After joking about “saying goodbye to” and “really missing” Spiridakos, Patrick John Flueger (who plays Officer Adam Ruzek) and Laroyce Hawkins (who plays Officer Kevin Atwater) assure TV Insider that Upton is fine. “Historically we’ve seen this unit take so much abuse whether it’s explosions, nine millimeter bullets to the gut, car crashes and accidents,” Hawkins says. “And I’m not sure if our audience has figured this out yet, but we’re Intelligence. One of us is worth at least six regular cops — ” “Or nine, I’m gonna up you three,...

Will Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) suffer a major loss before the end of Chicago P.D. Season 9? Considering his criminal informant, Anna (Carmela Zumbado), is putting herself at risk right now, watching Escano (José Zúñiga) and what we’re hearing about the final episodes of the season, it seems possible. “She’s his responsibility, and she’s in a very, very dangerous situation and she at first was somewhat cavalier about the whole thing. There’s a similarity between Voight and Anna. Part of the connection is that they’re very single-minded people. They’re able to kind of lock in on something and focus on it, so that’s kind of what makes them simpatico, I think,” Beghe said during a recent One Chicago press day. “But because he’s constantly trying to warn her to be careful, it has affected in her in that she is becoming more aware of the situation.

It was a case-heavy installment, but isn't that preferable most of the time?
We got a better glimpse of what it means for Halstead to be the holder of Voight's leash in their new, egalitarian partnership on Chicago Pd Season 9 Episode 12, and now that they've figured out how to merge their styles and adapt, it seems to work.
We also spent more time with Anna, and it's enough to put a person on edge.
It's saying something that four bodies dropped before the installment even hit its 15-minute mark.
Voight and Halstead arrived at a landfill to respond to their first body, and from that point forward, the case took them in the direction of Los Temidos, and it showed off their shiny new partnership.
While Halstead took the backseat and barely had a presence during Chicago Pd Season 9 Episode 11, he made up for it here, and blessedly, they switched...

It’s the summer of 2013 and spray cans rattle as Reefa (Tyler Dean Flores), an ambitious, 18-year-old graffiti artist, paints his signature symbol — an eye surrounded by flower petals — illegally on a wall in his suburban Miami neighborhood. Later his father (José Zúñiga) a Colombian immigrant nervously awaiting the arrival of the family’s green cards, discovers it, and forces Reefa to whitewash over it before the authorities arrive. Prickling with adolescent resentment, the young man does so, and inadvertently supplies Jessica Kavana Dornbusch’s true-story biopic with an unfortunate parallel: “Reefa,” based on an enraging, heartbreaking real-life event, paints over the colors, creativity and chaos of its true-life tragedy with layers of film-convention formula.
Reefa is a good-looking skateboarder, cocksure about his artistic talent and eager to break into Miami’s tagging scene prior to moving to New York — the erstwhile home of his heroes Basquiat, Warhol and Haring — to attend art school.

"My father's last wish is for me to go on a scavenger hunt with a brother I never knew I had!" Road trip time! Focus Features has released an official trailer for an adventure comedy titled Half Brothers, from American filmmaker Luke Greenfield. Follow the clues. Uncover the mystery. Find your family. The story follows a successful Mexican aviation executive who is shocked to discover he has an American half-brother he never knew about. The two very different half-brothers are go on a road journey together masterminded by their ailing father, tracing the path their father took as an immigrant from Mexico to the US. Meant to be a metaphor of the relationship between neighboring countries America and Mexico. Starring Luis Gerardo Méndez and Connor Del Rio as the brothers, along with José Zúñiga, Vincent Spano, Pia Watson, Juan Pablo Espinosa, and Jwaundace Candece. Looks like wholesome, cheesy road trippin' goofiness.

I had never heard of this comedy-thriller, and the good news is that it’s a pleasant surprise, thoroughly enjoyable. The toughest kind of filmmaking must be making comedy seem effortless, and that’s what Eric Blakeney does in this quirky, near-screwball take on the done-to-death drug deal undercover thriller. Liam Neeson is sensational, and producer Sandra Bullock is at her most charming. Even the flatulence jokes are funny.

“The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.” As opening lines go, The Gunslinger’s should be up there with Pride and Prejudice’s universally acknowledged truth for sheer iconicism. We say should be, for Stephen King’s epic fantasy Western always was one of his most underappreciated, and less read.

The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may have a Life Model Decoy problem on their hands.
In Et’s exclusive sneak peek of Tuesday’s new episode, Director Mace (Jason O'Mara) has assembled the team to debrief on the “serious threat” that the mysterious Darkhold still poses to S.H.I.E.L.D. and the world at large.
Exclusive: 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Chloe Bennet on the Team's Battle Against the 'Unexplainable' Darkhold and What’s Next for Daisy
While Coulson (Clark Gregg) is on a mission to hand over the supernatural book to “an agent who specializes in making items like this disappear,” Mace assigns Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Dr. Radcliffe (John Hannah) to erase the hard drive of Radcliffe’s android assistant, Aida (Mallory Jansen), after she read the Darkhold in order to help save Los Angeles from Eli Morrow’s (José Zúñiga) destruction.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans were thrilled to see rogue agent Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet) return to the fold in recent weeks, joining back up with the team in the hopes of finding some answers about the mysterious Darkhold. However, after the events of the last episode -- which saw half the team vanish into thin air after Eli Morrow (José Zúñiga) revealed his true motives and harnessed the Darkhold to imbue himself with otherworldly powers -- it seems like answers might be hard to come by.
“This next episode is really about the rest of the team trying to figure out what the f*** is going on,” Bennet told Et ahead of Tuesday’s episode, titled “Deal With Our Devils,” which finds Daisy and the remaining members of the team short-handed and searching for a solution after Coulson (Clark Gregg), Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Morrow’s nephew, Robbie Reyes aka Ghost Rider (Gabriel Luna), have disappeared...

Stars: Kaylee Bryant, José Zúñiga, Catherine Black, Anne Bex, Nick Mancuso, Emma Gruttadauria, Sam Myerson, Diana Porter, Mark S. Cartier, Karin Crighton, Kati Salowsky | Written and Directed by Jennifer B. White
Hollywood tag-line writer Jennifer B. White (Nora’s Return) pulls double-duty here, both writing and directing this paranormal/supernatural mystery starring Kaylee Bryant (Zugzwang) as the titular Mary.
The story of The Haunting of Mary (also known as Mary Loss of Soul) follows Mary Solis, a young 15 year old girl who disappears suddenly before reappearing without any recollection of what happened to her. Oh, and she’s missing part of her soul too. That part’s important. Mary and her family begin to suffer a terrible haunting from an angry spirit all the while Mary herself begins to tumble further down.
It’s hard to really go into a full-on overview of the plot here without giving away some of the interesting plot developments,...
