Rhys Thomas is an BAFTA, RTS, Writer's Guild, Emmy and Rose D'or winning actor, comedian, writer, producer and director best known for starring in a wealth of hit British comedy shows like 'The Fast Show,' 'Star Stories,' 'Sirens', 'Down The Line', 'Nathan Barley' and the critically acclaimed BBC spoof music documentary series 'Brian Pern' which he wrote, created, starred, produced and directed.
In 2022 he created the huge hit family show 'DODGER' for BBC One and Universal. Starring Christopher Eccleston and an all star cast, the series is a prequel to Oliver Twist following the adventures of the Artful Dodger and Fagin. Not only did he write the series with Lucy Montgomery, he also exec produced and directed all 14 episodes.
As a documentary director/producer he won an Emmy and the Rose d'Or for Best Arts Documentary for his feature length film, 'Freddie Mercury: The Great Pretender.' He was also nominated for a BAFTA in 2013 in the Breakthrough Talent Category. He also produced 'Queen: Days of Our Lives' which was also nominated for both an Emmy and Rose d'Or in 2012.
In 2023 he co-wrote and directed a Dodger Coronation Special for BBC One and a sequel to his hit comedy 'THE KEMPS' which airs on BBC Two/iPlayer at Christmas 2023.
Also known as Rhys Thomas OBE or Rhys T Thomas so not to be confused with the director Rhys Thomas (III) of Saturday Night Live/Documentary Now fame.
