Emily Prentiss will be found channeling a bit of her “clandestine past” when Paramount+’s Criminal Minds: Evolution uncorks its new season.
Premiering Thursday, June 6, with the first two of 10 episodes, the new season picks up as the team (played by Paget Brewster, Joe Mantegna, Kirsten Vangsness, Adam Rodriguez and Aisha Tyler) investigates the mystery of Gold Star. As that conspiracy unfolds, the Bau will be met with an unexpected complication when Elias Voit (promoted series regular Zach Gilford) negotiates a deal that transfers him to federal custody — in the Bau’s own backyard!

When Criminal Minds continued with Evolution two years after the original run ended after 15 seasons, it did so with nearly every actor from the series finale: Joe Mantegna (David Rossi), A.J. Cook (Jennifer “J.J.” Jareau), Kirsten Vangsness (Penelope Garcia), Aisha Tyler (Dr. Tara Lewis), Adam Rodriguez (Luke Alvez), and Paget Brewster (Emily Prentiss). Scheduling didn’t work for Matthew Gray Gubler and Daniel Henney to reprise their roles as Dr. Spencer Reid and Matt Simmons. But will that change in Season 17? There has been at least one sign pointing to a possible return from Gubler: a photo of Spencer Reid’s nameplate on a desk in a photo shared on Mantegna’s Instagram story (see below). So TV Insider turned to showrunner Erica Messer for answers. As it turns out, unfortunately, we will not be seeing Gubler this season. Joe Mantegna/Instagram “It never worked out for Season 16 and...

In early 2024, the cast and crew of Criminal Minds: Evolution have finally begun the active phase of production, and filming has been quietly underway for months. So far, not much is known about the upcoming Season 2, except for the core cast members.
Nevertheless, Paramount never stops teasing us with new updates that, despite their lightheartedness, actually provide a lot of interesting details that fans actively start speculating about. For example, a new set video featuring the cast of Evolution was recently released, and despite its playful tone, the video was surprisingly insightful. It showed us the return of a rather controversial character who is sure to cause a lot of drama at Bau.

Paramount has rebooted Criminal Minds, and starting in November 2022, we were once again immersed in the story of the Behavioral Analysis Unit (Bau) agents as they grappled with criminal minds and personal lives. Now, the story has taken an even darker turn, it has been released in a streaming format rather than the traditional TV broadcast one, and the show itself has been subtitled as Evolution. And before we knew it, a new season was already in production (the second season of Evolution and the seventeenth since Criminal Minds premiered on CBS in 2005).
While fans wait in anticipation, the upcoming Season 17 has already had its fair share of details and speculation. Josh Stewart, who has played Will Lamontagne Jr. since Season 2, will be leaving the show, while many are sure that everyone's favorite Spencer Reid will be back, as Matthew Gray Gubler's schedule has finally been cleared, and the...

The Bau is getting an assist from a Desperate Housewives alum.
TVLine reports that Felicity Huffman has closed a deal to guest star during Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2, and her character has ties to the original series.
Huffman is playing Dr. Jill Gideon, described as “a brilliant biological psychiatrist who winds up helping the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit investigate a murderous conspiracy theory.”
If that surname sounds familiar, it’s because she’s the wife of Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin), so she has plenty of ties to the team.
Jill isn’t too fond of getting involved with the Bau because of her past, which concludes a “complicated history” with David Rossi (Joe Mantegna).
However, her expertise is needed because the team is struggling to crack open the Gold Star mystery.

With the latter ending its seven-season run this year, the talented actor is opening up about his next move.
Naturally, there are questions about whether he would return to Criminal Minds, where he played Special Agent Derek Morgan for 11 seasons as a series regular and two as a special guest.
Speaking with TV Insider about the final season of S.W.A.T., Moore revealed that an invitation is all he’s waiting for to sign up for an encore.
“I never forget where I came from,” he affirmed, citing his multiple past returns to The Young and the Restless and Criminal Minds.
Moore said his schedule is crazy, so he and the producers must “get creative” to make the magic happen.

Somehow, in the midst of the “first quarter” of the year’s cinematic doldrums and discards a nice surprise “pops’ up to jolt you awake, or at the least engage your senses. And it’s even rarer that it’s from a relative newcomer or an artist that’s not yet “on the radar”. That changes now. Like many creatives, she’s far from an “overnight star”, as her IMDb lists more than a dozen or so acting credits. And then there are several listings of “behind the camera” work, in features and shorts on the big screen and small. Now, with this release she’s a true “triple threat” as she makes her feature directing debut while emoting in nearly every scene. Film fans, here to inject much-needed energy and a bit of snark into the “rom-com” is Leah McKendrick in Scrambled.

Criminal Minds: Evolution fans apparently will be saying goodbye to longtime cast member Josh Stewart. The actor today posted on X (fka Twitter) that “sadly, my days of playing Will Lamontagne Jr. are over,” adding “You guys have been the absolute best.”
Stewart first appeared as a recurring on the original CBS drama Criminal Minds in Season 2 as Nopd detective William Lamontagne Jr. He went on to appear on at least one episode each season. In the two-part Season 7 finale, Will wed Special Agent J.J. Jareau (A.J. Cook). Shining Vale star Mira Sorvino was the favorite heading into Tuesday’s (January 2) Celebrity Jeopardy! semi-finals, but it was Abbott Elementary‘s Lisa Ann Walter who made an impressive comeback to take home the win. The semi-finals saw Sorvino facing off against Walter and Ghosts star Utkarsh Ambudkar, and it initially looked like Sorvino’s game to lose. She’d previously won her first game against CSI: Miami actor Adam Rodriguez and NFL Network host Peter Schrager, which aired just a day after she was eliminated from Dancing With the Stars. Jeopardy! producer Sarah Whitcomb Foss previously described this episode as “her favorite match of the season,” and it certainly lived up to the billing as all three contestants got out to a hot start, with all three within $300 at the first break. Walter had a slight lead after the Jeopardy! round after finding the first Daily Double, going into...

"What if I screw this up? I don't even know if I want kids!" Lionsgate has unveiled the trailer for another new sex comedy called Scrambled, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Leah McKendrick. Thirty-something Nellie Robinson is your quintessential eternal bridesmaid. When a doctor visit reveals her fertility may be in jeopardy, she stares down the barrel of a future without options and decides to freeze her eggs. The arduous (and pricey) process sends her on a journey of self-examination, confronting past lovers, dreams and regrets, and ultimately bringing her face to face with the one she’s meant to be with forever: Herself. Starring Leah McKendrick as Nellie, Ego Nwodim, Andrew Santino, Adam Rodriguez, Laura Cerón, and Clancy Brown. This received mostly positive reviews at the fest, praising the structure: "the film has quick quips, good timing, and tight pacing." Looks like it is honest & fun with plenty of spunk.

We've been clamoring for more Criminal Minds since Criminal Minds Evolution Season 1 left us gasping due to its shocking revelations.
Despite scoring a speedy renewal, the long-running drama that morphed into a streaming series a year ago hasn't yet entered production.
Earlier this year, there was word that filming would begin imminently, so fresh episodes were on the air for fans quickly.
Unfortunately, that didn't happen.
The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes brought Hollywood to a standstill, meaning no new episodes could be produced.
Recently, both guilds reached deals with the AMPTP to fairly compensate writers and actors for their work, clearing the way for production to get underway.
Paget Brewster took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to respond to a fan to give some updates about the show and it's good news.

When Steven Soderbergh’s Magic Mike was released in 2012, it’s doubtful that anyone knew entirely what to expect. A film about male strippers that was loosely based on the star of the film, Channing Tatum, and his own experiences in the world of stripping seemed unlikely to spawn a sprawling and vocal fanbase—much less the Magic Mike Cinematic Universe (or Mmcu for short). Paget Brewster, who plays Emily Prentiss, took to Twitter on Thursday with an exciting update.
"Guys, we are coming back so fast it'll make your head spin," the star shared.
"Because of you. We start shooting in 2 months, thank you, thank you, thank you."
Criminal Minds Evolution Season 1 started filming in August and was on the air in November, so by that logic, the show should be back on the air in the summer.
Criminal Minds: Evolution completely revamped Criminal Minds by taking on a more serialized nature, which set itself apart from the original series.
