The first season of AMC's "Interview With the Vampire" was a delicious high point of last year's oversaturated TV landscape, and the show is already set for a second season, but the news has now broken that it will be continuing on without one of its stars. Bailey Bass, the rising star who put a sensational spin on the character of teen vampire Claudia in the show's first batch of episodes, is stepping away from the role, per Variety. When the show returns, actor Delainey Hayles will take over the part of the eager and impetuous adoptee of turn-of-the-century undead lovers Louis (Jacob Anderson) and Lestat (Sam Reid).
In a statement shared to her Instagram, Bass thanked the cast, crew, and fans for supporting her during her time in the "dream role." The actor didn't single out one specific reason for her departure, but said she would be unable...

“Bel-Air” creator Morgan Cooper said since day one of developing the reimagined version of “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” he and Will Smith found “organic ways” to include the original cast members.
From a viral reimagining to a meeting with Smith and onto Peacock screens, “Bel-Air” is now the streamer’s most-watched original series. While it is inspired by NBC’s original sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” Cooper told TheWrap that he was very intentional about the show having its own identity and even refused to watch “Fresh Prince” during “Bel-Air’s” early development.
“When I was making the short film we released in 2019, which got this started, it was really important to me throughout the whole process of creating it to not watch ‘Fresh Prince’ at all,” Cooper said, adding that the series won’t perfectly mirror the storylines from its predecessor. “We’re not going to extrapolate ideas from it,...

For the first three seasons, Janet Hubert played “Aunt Viv” on The Fresh Prince of Bell-Air, dealing out wisdom to Will Smith’s Philadelphia transplant. Aunt Viv remained a constant on the show, but starting with season four, Daphne Maxwell Reid stepped into the role, giving pop culture enthusiasts a new term for sudden recastings. But to actors who replace other actors, the term “Aunt Viv” might have negative connotations.
At least, that’s the impression viewers get when watching Don Cheadle‘s reaction during an interview with GQ. “It’s famously known online how you ‘Aunt Viv’d’ Terrance Howard for the role of Rhodey,” the interviewer observed, prompting a look of shock from Cheadle. “I ‘Aunt Viv’d’ him?” he asks with incredulity, before clarifying, “I did not move Terrance out of a role.” However, he stumbles when trying to explain exactly what happened. “That’s… they had decided they weren’t…...

It was the news that no one was really expecting. On Saturday, Netflix announced that the hit fantasy series The Witcher was being renewed for a fourth season. So far, so good. But there’s a catch: Henry Cavill would be stepping down from the lead role, to be replaced with The Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth. Cavill had played the grey-haired demon slayer Geralt of Rivia for two seasons (with a third forthcoming) to a warm reception from fans. To fans of the Witcher books, or the massively successful video game adaptations, Geralt is a Big Deal, and Cavill had thrown himself into the role with gusto and all the requisite reverence. Reactions to the news have, then, been predictably sour, ranging from doom-mongering predictions of creative decline to threats of a boycott. But is this really justified?
After all, The Witcher is hardly the first TV series to recast a character.

Nearly a quarter century after NBC sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” ended its six-season run, filmmaker Morgan Cooper uploaded a mock trailer for a dramatic reimagining of the series to YouTube, where it has since gained over seven million views. The video’s popularity soon led to the reboot idea becoming a reality in the form of Peacock series “Bel-Air,” which premiered this February. Cooper (who produces the show and directed and wrote part of its first season) recently participated in a 2022 Emmys FYC panel along with showrunners/executive producers T.J. Brady and Rasheed Newson and actors Akira Akbar, Jimmy Akingbola, Jabari Banks, Cassandra Freeman, Adrian Holmes and Coco Jones, moderated by Justin Sylvester from E! News. Watch the video Q&a above.

The prince of Bel-Air is now the king of tell-alls. From wanting to date his co-star Karyn Parsons (Hilary Banks), to making the decision to end The Fresh Prince of Bel–Air, Will Smith shares shocking secrets from his life and career in his new memoir, Will. The hit sitcom, starring Smith, Parsons, Alfonso Ribeiro, Tatyana Ali, Daphne Reid and James Avery, premiered in 1990 and aired until 1996, when we said goodbye to the beloved Banks family. In his memoir, Smith explains that there was good reason for the show to end after six seasons. "The storylines were becoming increasingly hokey and it was difficult to maintain the 'Freshness,'" the actor writes in his...

The most shocking revelation of the “Friends” reunion might be that the actors — now six of the most famous in the world — never met until their first table read. From their very first moments swapping jokes and stories around the squashy chairs of Central Perk in 1993, the chemistry between Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer was so immediate and so natural that it became very easy for audiences to imagine not just that they were friends, but their friends, too. Recapturing that spark in a reunion special 17 years after the series finale without the smokescreens of their characters, though, would be another challenge entirely.
The special acknowledges this approximately one second in with a title card — scrawled in the “Friends” credits font, naturally — to inform us that, since the series finale, “the six cast members have been in a room all together only once … until today.

Will Smith thinks a fan-made YouTube reinterpretation of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is “brilliant.”
The nearly four-minute clip titled Bel-Air was created by cinematographer Morgan Cooper and recreates the beloved Smith-starring sitcom as an indie drama.
The Bad Boys for Life actor watched the viral video and posted a review on his YouTube page Friday.
“I saw this trailer that Morgan Cooper hooked up, it was called Bel-Air,” Smith said as he stood next to Cooper. “This is the first time that I heard something and I was like ‘Yo, that’s an idea that is brilliant.'”
Cooper told Smith he grew up watching the series, which ran on NBC from 1990 to 1996, and co-starred James Avery, Alfonso Ribeiro, Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Janet Hubert and later Daphne Reid.
The cinematographer has said in previous interviews that he used his own money to fund the slickly-produced project.

One day you're working on a movie or TV project and the next day, you've been Aunt Viv'ed. Hollywood is not immune to the old manta that every person is replaceable. Actors and directors are replaced all the time for a number of reasons—travel conflicts, financial disagreements and yes, personal reasons. Sometimes people just don't get along. Such was the case with Janet Hubert, the original Aunt Vivian on the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. She played the character for three seasons and left the show in 1993 amid a contract dispute and was replaced by Daphne Maxwell Reid, which came as a surprise to viewers. Hubert also feuded with main star Will...

One of the things I always disliked about the show Fresh Price of Bel-Air is when all of a sudden Aunt Vivian was a completely different person. She was originally played by actress Janet Hubert and eventually replaced by Daphne Reid. Amazingly Reid and Hubert were in a nearly identical amount of episodes with Reid edging out Hubert 75-74. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air's Alfonso Ribeiro, Will Smith, Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, and Daphne Reid recently reunited at an event for Karyn's charity, which not only delighted fans of the show, but also unintentionally reignited a decades-long feud between the cast and the actress who played the original Aunt Viv, Janet Hubert. The behind-the-scenes drama between Will and Janet was well-known at the time and eventually led to the show's decision to replace her with Daphne in the hit sitcom's third season. She still harbors a grudge over 22 years later and even started a feud with Will's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, over the Gotham actress's Oscars boycott in 2016. Suffice it to say, there's still plenty of bad blood between them. Janet reminded Will and the rest of the gang of her anger after seeing the reunion photo go viral with a post on her Facebook page.

A post shared by Alfonso Ribeiro (@therealalfonsoribeiro) on Mar 27, 2017 at 5:27pm Pdt Prepare yourself, because the cast of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air recently reunited, and it's nostalgia overload. Alfonso Ribeiro posted a fun shot on Instagram on Monday, which features original cast members Will Smith, Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, and Daphne Reid (we'll go ahead and assume why the actress who played the first Aunt Viv, Janet Hubert, opted out of the afternoon). Although sadly no one did the Carlton dance, the Banks family and their troublemaking Philadelphia cousin looked like they had a great time together. "Always amazing to spend an afternoon with my Fresh Prince family," Alfonso, 45, captioned the photo. "Wishing that James Avery was still with us to make this complete." Karyn Parsons, aka 'Hilary,' tells us the luncheon -- with Tatiana Ali, Alfonso Ribeiro, Will, Daphne Maxwell Reid and Joseph Marcell -- went down Monday at Nobu in Malibu. Karyn says her castmates broke bread with a family from England that won a charity auction.

I always enjoyed this show and seeing the cast back together again makes me wonder if anyone has thought about the possibility of a revival series. I'm not saying anyone would or should do it, but I'm there are some fans out there that could get behind the idea.

It's time to hail the prince.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air turns 25 Thursday, with the first episode of the iconic sitcom airing Sept. 10, 1990 on NBC. The show would become one of the most enduring sitcoms of the '90s, but at the time it was a risk for star Will Smith, whose acting chops were unproven, and for NBC, which pitted the series against Monday Night Football.
The show soon found a ravenous audience – one that continues thanks to reruns, with fans still loving the story all about how a young man from Philadelphia shook up the lives of the Banks family.

I assume everyone knows that Janet Hubert played the role of Aunt Viv on the everlasting NBC sit-com "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," from the first episode in 1990, until 1993, when she was replaced, without an explanation, by Daphne Maxwell-Reid. After some 20 years, Hubertd finally did go public to discuss why she was fired from the show - due to “creative differences,” as well as ongoing feuds with both Will Smith and Alfonso Ribeiro. Of Smith, she said he had done "some heinous, horrible things to me,” and that it was he who pushed for her to be fired from the show However, earlier this week, Buzzfeed produced and published a reenactment to...

One of the most glaring cast changes in television history, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air‘s replacement of Janet Hubert with Daphne Maxwell Reid in season four wasn’t just an awkward transition to a new actress playing Vivian – it was a moment that fundamentally changed Fresh Prince of Bel-Air as a show… and not for the better. When talking about Fresh Prince, it’s very much a show of two distinct eras: The Era of Vivian, and the much less entertaining Age of New Vivian. So what went wrong? Off-screen, the details have been well-noted: Hubert and Will Smith just didn’t work together well, which led to her firing and eventual replacement at the beginning of season four. Unfortunately for Fresh Prince, it took the show’s best character along with it: the show’s strong matriarchal center, a woman who wasn’t just a mother and professor, but...

Remember the original Aunt Viv from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air? Janet Hubert, who played the character for three seasons until she was replaced by Daphne Maxwell Reid on the popular sitcom, has resurfaced from semi-obscurity with a vengeance, writing an astonishingly angry open letter to Wendy Williams. The catalyst: the talk-show host probing Tatyana Ali, Hubert's former TV daughter, about Hubert's unceremonious departure from the show in 1993, mid-way through its six-year run. "It felt like a divorce, it felt like we had to get to know our new mom," Ali told Williams of Hubert's
