Harrison Ford served as a slight inspiration for Nathan Fillion’s Firefly performance. The actor once commented on the similarities between his Firefly role and Ford’s own space cowboy.

Nathan Fillion’s Firefly captain Malcolm Reynolds drew a few comparisons to Harrison Ford’s Han Solo. Like the Star Wars anti-hero, Malcolm Reynolds didn’t set out to be a hero and save the universe. Reynolds was a part of a space crew all looking to get by and make ends meet. It was one of the many aspects Fillion found about playing the character.
“He is heroic in a way, but in the same way as single parents are heroic,” Fillion once told Games Radar. “Single parents – parents in general – are heroes! You take a single parent, they’re doing it by themselves, they’ve got no help,...

If you have already seen If, it’s high time to revise Ryan Reynolds’ filmography. He is recognized for his superhero flicks, with 2016’s Deadpool standing out, action movies such as Free Guy (2021), and dramatic performances in Buried (2010) and Life (2017).
It’s also common knowledge that Reynolds is no stranger to comedies, even if we take his Deadpool into account. However, few fans know that back in 1998, the actor starred in an ABC sitcom that became a significant jumpstart for his successful career.
The series’ plot revolves around Berg (played by Reynolds) and Pete, two college graduates who share an apartment and work at a local pizzeria. They can’t imagine their life without the help of their neighbor and former collegemate, Sharon, who gives the boys advice on literally all spheres of life, including their romantic exploits, of course.

As work continues on DC Studios' Superman reboot, filmmaker James Gunn has shared another behind-the-scenes photo featuring the movie's cast...and a couple of friends.
In his Threads post, we see Mikaela Hoover (Cat Grant), Christopher McDonald (Ron Troupe), Wendell Pierce (Perry White), and Pruitt Taylor Vince (Pa Kent), along with some unnamed producers and Guardians of the Galaxy star Michael Rooker.
Gunn insists that his old pal only stopped by for a visit, though it was rumoured a while back that he's been cast as Lois Lane's father, General Sam Lane. While we don't necessarily expect Rooker to appear in Superman, it's not outside the realm of possibility despite Gunn's claims to the contrary.
The Superman writer and director also recently answered a fan question on Facebook about whether Jonathan Kent will be alive in the movie, bluntly responding with, "Well, I don't think I'd hire Pruitt to...

Cameras are still rolling on James Gunn's Superman reboot and even though the filmmaker has said he'll miss Comic-Con, we're hoping something from the movie will be shared in Hall H.
A teaser trailer is possible, if somewhat unlikely, but DC Studios could do with winning sceptical fans over after sharing that divisive first shot of David Corenswet suited up as the Man of Tomorrow.
In the meantime, the clapperboard/slate from Superman has been revealed and it puts that eye-catching new logo front and centre. Inspired by Kingdom Come and some of the hero's earliest comic book adventures, it makes for a striking piece of imagery.
While this logo was used in The CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover when Brandon Routh donned it to play an older version of Superman Returns' Clark Kent, those DC TV shows weren't exactly mainstream. As a result, many moviegoers who aren't...

Much has been made of the upcoming Superman project which will star David Corenswet as the titular character. The first movie under the new Dcu banner is being headed entirely by the chief James Gunn, who is both the director and the screenwriter for this project.
Set for a July 2025 release, not much is known about the film, which was previously titled Superman: Legacy.

With the project under production currently, it seems as if Gunn has his fair share of peculiar demands, even when it comes to the background actors who will be featured in it. A recent X post details the kind of asks that have been made with respect to the background actors, and a motion capture performer that the creators are currently looking to hire.

Aside from a few blurry shots of Gabriela de Faría's Engineer, we've yet to see any noteworthy photos from the set of Superman. On the few occasions the movie has been shot in the open, the set has been surrounded by barricades to hide what's happening from fans and photographers.
In many ways, we can't complain about that because it maintains the element of surprise. Still, it's frustrating to not get any sneak peeks as those more often than not build excitement for movies like this one.
Regardless, some new snaps have surfaced today and while there are no cast members on hand, we do get to see the updated LuthorCorp logo. This looks like a makeshift military base, though it's unclear whether Lex Luthor has anything to do with what's happening here.

James Gunn’s Dcu is moving quickly. The production of ‘Superman’ is already halfway done, and casting for other projects is about to start. Recently, there’s been a lot of talk about two Dcu projects: ‘Lanterns’ and ‘Booster Gold.’
Both shows have been in development for a long time. They were originally planned for different cinematic universes, but now under Gunn’s leadership, they are beginning to take shape.
Recently, Chris Pratt confirmed he will be appearing in both the MCU and the Dcu, which didn’t surprise anyone. The last ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movie hinted that Star-Lord would return, and since Gunn likes to work with the same actors, it was expected that Pratt would find a role in the Dcu.
After his statement went viral, fans speculated that Pratt might be cast as either Booster Gold or Hal Jordan for the upcoming ‘Lanterns’ show.

It seems we’ll be seeing a lot of the Daily Planet in James Gunn’s Superman, as the director has assembled quite the cast of characters to fill the ranks of the newspaper. THR reports that Mikaela Hoover and Christopher McDonald have joined the cast of Superman as Cat Grant and Ron Troupe, respectively.
Cat Grant is a gossip columnist who was introduced as a potential love interest for Clark Kent. The character was created by Marv Wolfman and Jerry Ordway and has made the leap to live-action several times before, notably by Tracy Scoggins in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and by Calista Flockhart in Supergirl. As for Ron Troupe, the character was created by Jerry Ordway and Tom Grummett and is regarded as one of the Daily Planet’s best reporters. The Rookie remained a solid mix of drama, sitcom and procedural for several years – with constant encounters with the same characters. But at the same time, it never stagnated and kept moving forward.
The Rookie Did Character Development and Everyday Police Routine Best
The Rookie was always popular because it focused not only on the daily routine of the police, but also on interpersonal relationships, conflicts and deep character development.
The most interesting thing for the audience was to see the problems of an adult experiencing what it is like to be a rookie. On the one hand, you are constantly teased by your seniors, on the other – you give them the wisest life advice.
On the one hand, you fall in love and go on dates; on the other hand, your son surprises you with an engagement, and you have to figure out whether to get involved in your...

You don't have to be a connoisseur of film and television history to keep up with the fascinating story of Firefly, which happened in 2003. Then Fox ordered a sci-fi adventure series from Joss Whedon in the spirit of Star Wars, Star Trek or Babylon 5.
The future director of The Avengers filmed a space opera combining science fiction and western, but for a number of reasons, not only did the network refuse to continue the popular show, but also wasn't too eager to show the finished 14 episodes.
The indignation of fans knew no bounds, but all the viewers and creators of Firefly managed to achieve was the shooting of the feature film Serenity, a cult in narrow circles, but not very successful at the box office space action movie.
Twenty years after the movie's release, talk of canceling Firefly still rages, especially since the show's actors are still closely associated with the show's characters.
The future director of The Avengers filmed a space opera combining science fiction and western, but for a number of reasons, not only did the network refuse to continue the popular show, but also wasn't too eager to show the finished 14 episodes.

There's been chatter online for a while that James Gunn's Superman might include Steve Lombard. While it's still not confirmed, a new behind-the-scenes photo of the movie's cast has sent speculation into overdrive.
As you'll see below, Saturday Night Live alum Beck Bennett was spotted alongside the cast and crew, leaving many fans convinced he's playing the Daily Planet's cocky sports columnist.
He may have just been visiting friends, of course, but the facial hair does feel like a dead giveaway!
In the comics, Lombard - created by Cary Bates and Curt Swan in 1973's Superman #264 - is a sports reporter and later sports anchor for the Daily Planet, the same newspaper where Clark Kent and Lois Lane work.
Known for his brash and often arrogant personality, Steve is depicted as a former professional football player who brings his jock mentality to the newsroom. He is notorious for playing practical jokes on his colleagues,...

Late last month, DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn officially announced members of the creative team he'd assembled for the long-awaited Green Lantern Max series, which will be titled Lanterns.
We'd learn that Emmy Award-winning Lost and Watchmen creator Damon Lindelof will work on the pilot script along with previously reported (but not confirmed) Ozark showrunner Chris Mundy and acclaimed comic book writer Tom King
“Yes, it’s true. The Lanterns Dcu series is putting together a crack team of writers, based on a wonderful pilot script and bible by Chris Mundy, Tom King, and Damon Lindelof,” Gunn captioned his social media posts. “A hearty welcome to Chris and @damonlindelof as they join the DC Studios family.”

When James Gunn sat to announce the projects in the first slate of the Dcu, the Lanterns series was one of the most hyped projects. Following the Ryan Reynolds debacle in 2011, the character has been sidelined from the live-action media for years before Gunn gave it another shot. Now, the latest rumors suggest that the casting for the upcoming series has started.

Lanterns was announced as a True Detective-esque project with two of the most fan-favorite Green Lanterns from the comics, Hal Jordan and John Stewart leading the show. Reportedly, the makers have put out certain criteria to cast the upcoming heroes of the Dcu.
If the rumors are proven true, then John Krasinski can be an incredible choice to play Hal Jordan in the new DC Universe.

Just like how Robert Downey Jr. is considered pretty much the real-life counterpart of his onscreen Marvel character Tony Stark, Deadpool (aka Wade Wilson) is regarded as the comic-book counterpart of his onscreen portrayer, Ryan Reynolds. This is because of all the witty and sarcastic personality traits these two fan-favorites share, both onscreen as well as in real life.

However, even Wade wouldn’t have been able to deal with or have a comeback response to the roasting his real-life counterpart faced at the hands of a young fan. And as much as we hate to admit it, even Reynolds couldn’t come up with a good enough response to all the savage trolling his young fans did of him during his recent interview for If.

If there is one fandom that is allowed to have the most trust issues, it is probably Marvel fans. The franchise is known for being especially untrustworthy with the information it gives out. The secrecy surrounding every single project in the MCU is ingrained in the very fabric of the franchise. The perfect example of how far they are willing to go to keep key details under wraps is what Andrew Garfield did in the days leading up to the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man: No Way Home l Marvel
The actor has famously been condemned for how much he lied during the release of the film. Fans would constantly bombard him with questions about his appearance in the film, and he would deny it over and over. When the film was released and fans found out that he was, in fact, in the movie,...

As filming for James Gunn's Superman continues, production has moved to Lagrange, Georgia, which will be the location for the scenes taking place at the Kent Farm.
No matter where his adventures took him, the Man of Steel has always returned home to see his folks in all previous Superman-based movies and TV shows, and it seems the upcoming Dcu reboot will be no different.
While they don't reveal very much, the first photos from the set have now been shared online. We're not sure if one of these buildings is the actual Kent home, as they may simply be other structures on or around the property.
"Pa" and "Ma" Kent will be played by Pruitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell.

After a new show is released, it’s only a matter of time before you find someone in it to hate. And it’s only natural! Even the protagonists of the show are getting fan hate, and the reasons for that can be absolutely different and sometimes even ridiculous.
It’s one thing to hate a character because he is in the wrong, being a bad person and wreaking havoc in the series. But it’s the whole other story when a character is hated for the actor or for lazy writing. And it seems to be the case with The Rookie’s Bailey Nune.
Now a few words about The Rookie, if you forgot or never knew. The show premiered in 2019 and is on its season 6 now. It follows a 40-year-old man who always had a dream of becoming a police officer, so now after a life-changing experience he...

I remember the early days of Destiny. The glimpses of footage, the beta test, and Peter Dinklage telling us that, by God, that wizard came from the moon. They were good days, and I was committed to all of it in my usually solo way. In 2017, Destiny 2 (from here I’m going to refer to the sequel as Destiny proper) promised to continue the story left hanging after the Taken King’s rise and the Vex’s attempt to master reality via time manipulation. The sequel-slash-continuation opened with a violent surge of Cabal into the Last City, leaving Guardians depowered, afraid, and scattered in the dangerous wilds.
It was a strong start, requiring more skill to survive the amplified risks ahead of us as players. New strikes and raids promised even tighter challenges, and the story continued to evolve. Forsaken – the first big expansion and the introduction to Destiny’s...

Nathan Fillion thought Ant-Man was a low-rung superhero before he saw Paul Rudd carrying the role easily. He was surprised when Rudd made the character almost endearing to him. When Paul Rudd debuted as Ant-Man, he quickly made the pint-sized hero one of the most popular characters in Marvel. His take on the character even impressed Nathan Fillion, who didn’t have the highest opinion on Ant-Man at first.
What Nathan Fillion thought of Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man Nathan Fillion | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
Fillion considered himself a fan of superhero films, and starred in his own fair share of crime-fighting flicks. He was known for voicing Green Lantern on a couple of animated DC projects. He also had a role in the James Gunn original superhero movie Super.
In a resurfaced interview with the Advocate, while expressing his own desire to play superhero films, Fillion discussed his love of Marvel films. He was particularly surprised by the Marvel film Ant-Man, with Rudd playing the titular character. Fillion thought Rudd helped make a character he considered silly at first look quite endearing.

Stunning videos capturing a meteor flashing across Europe went viral over the weekend. Luckily, the European Space Agency concluded that the likelihood of any meteorites being found on Earth was low, which is great news considering that meteorites crash-landing on our planet spells massive trouble when it comes to horror.
The Blob, Creepshow, and Night of the Creeps all showcase the perils of meteorites unleashing an alien menace upon an unsuspecting population, and the niche subgenre gets perfectly encapsulated in filmmaker James Gunn’s Slither. You might be thinking – what could be the connection between shows as different as The Rookie and The Walking Dead? One is a light-hearted police procedural and the other is a post-apocalyptic zombie show. However, they are actually connected by one thing – the questionable decisions of the writers.
There may be viewers out there who watched The Walking Dead and didn't like Glenn, but we don't know them. He's just a good guy who got better every season. So his completely unexpected and gruesome death came as a real shock.
But do fans remember how the creators seemed to be trying to maintain the ratings with Glenn's help? Shortly before his actual death, fans thought Glenn was dead when he fell right into the hands of the walkers, but after some time he miraculously escaped. Only to die again a few episodes later. Yes, this was definitely done for ratings.

But do fans remember how the creators seemed to be trying to maintain the ratings with Glenn's help? Shortly before his actual death, fans thought Glenn was dead when he fell right into the hands of the walkers, but after some time he miraculously escaped. Only to die again a few episodes later. Actor Nathan Fillion had a brief period where he had trouble finding work before his breakthrough role. Fillion had a guest spot in the hit ABC sitcom American Housewife. On that episode, he played a more exaggerated version of himself. "Happy Anniversary to my favorite Kansas farmers Ma [and] Pa Kent who will be played by Pruitt Taylor Vince (an actor I've wanted to work with since I saw him in James Mangold's Heavy in 1995) [and] the delightful Neva Howell," Gunn said on Threads.
"Ma [and] Pa Kent [first] appeared in Superman #1 May 18, 1939," he added. "Clark's parents had a few names until they were formally named...
