Fortunately, we won't have to wait quite as long as we did during last year's strikes, but we'll have to wait long enough.

The X-Men have always been some of the most prominent characters in the Marvel comics, even though their film-based adaptations after Logan were not that kindly received by fans. However, with the recently released titular smash-hit animated series and the sequel of the original series from 1992 on these mutants, this band of heroes just may be reclaiming their lost position.

Adding to this are Hugh Jackman and other actors from the movies returning to reprise their iconic mutants in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine, which further paves the way for even more actors from the original saga to return. That said, Shawn Ashmore, who played Iceman in the original film series, has expressed his wish to join the Marvel Universe as well.

Maybe the show should be called The Veteran from now on?
ABC has renewed its drama series The Rookie for a seventh season in 2024-25. The police procedural starring Nathan Fillion — which passed the 100-episode mark earlier this season — continues to draw decent-sized audiences for the network, even as it has outlived its title.
The Rookie is so named because at the show’s outset, Fillion’s John Nolan is the oldest rookie in the Los Angeles Police Department. Six seasons in, Nolan’s rookie status is long gone, but he “has used his life experience, determination and sense of humor to keep up with rookies 20 years his junior,” as ABC puts it in the season six logline. Mekia Cox, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Melissa O’Neil, Eric Winter, Jenna Dewan, Shawn Ashmore, Tru Valentino and Lisseth Chavez also star.

It’s always fun to discuss horror novels that Aren’T Stephen King. No knock on the monster from Maine, he’s the master of horror novels over the last, oh I don’t know, 50 years, for a reason but its nice to not have the show be solely dedicated to his adapted works. He says knowing that he makes the schedule and decides what books to cover. See you in May, Mr. King! The MCU is currently recalibrating and making significant changes to rectify the various mistakes made in Phase 4 and the current Phase 5 projects. The multiverse saga is all leading up to the epic crossover events of Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars. The upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine is set to give a needed jolt to the MCU as they inch closer to these two epic event movies.
Deadpool & Wolverine is expected to set up the events of Avengers: Secret Wars
With the upcoming Deadpool film having a multiversal narrative, it is sure to have some big X-Men cameos and callbacks to the history of Marvel films. Additionally, the film’s events are also expected to set up an important narrative thread for Secret Wars, which will completely reboot the MCU. An underutilized character from the X-Men films may be the key for all this to happen.

As if hitting 100 episodes isn’t cause enough for a celebration, The Rookie is also bringing us a wedding worth cheering for on Tuesday, February 27 as Nathan Fillion‘s Nolan ties the knot with his Lafd love, Bailey (Jenna Dewan). And while there are plenty of hiccups on the way to the big day — beware “the Curse of the Last Shift!” — once the gang gets to the ceremony, it’s (almost) all about the laughs, love, and long road to these two monumental events. Fittingly, showrunner Alexi Hawley directed the episode, which sees the entire cast cutting loose in its second half. “To have that, it just felt right,” said Shawn Ashmore (Wesley) when the cast spent some time with us at the Television Critics Association winter conference in Pasadena earlier this month. “And also, when we all get together, we have a lot of fun and I think Alexi...

Almost a year to the day that developer Endnight Games launched Sons of the Forest into Early Access on Steam, the developer has announced that the open-world survival game will be leaving the service and launching in full on February 22. Accompanying the announcement is the 1.0 launch trailer for Sons of the Forest, courtesy of IGN.
The 1.0 launch will also include a big change in the game with Timmy LeBlanc, now voiced by Shawn Ashmore. Endnight made the announcement via X, stating that Timmy’s role in Sons of the Forest will be expanded upon in the game and story, but didn’t elaborate on either point. The game does make allusions to this, with Timmy seemingly knowing more about the island than you, including an impending significant event.
Similar to the 2018 original, Sons of the Forest sees you trapped on a cannibal-infested island after being sent to find a missing billionaire.

Infectious disease has been a concern of humankind ever since we first began cooperating in large settlements, so it makes sense that this horrific fact of life has also become the basis for many of our scary stories. And while Covid and the Black Plague are scary enough on their own, some stories rely on much stranger (and often absurd) diseases in order to terrify audiences – especially when horror movies are concerned.
And with so many viral scares out there, we’ve decided to come up with a list recommending six of the strangest infection horror flicks for your viewing pleasure. After all, it might do horror fans some good to remember that things could still have been much worse after living through a very real pandemic.

Last year, Ashley Greene (the Twilight saga) and Shawn Ashmore (Adam Green’s Frozen) shared the screen in the Netflix-released thriller Aftermath. Now Deadline reports that Greene and Ashmore have been reunited on the set of the supernatural horror film It Feeds, which is currently in production.
It Feeds will tell the story of a young girl who insists that a malevolent entity is feeding on her. Greene’s character is “a clairvoyant therapist who must confront her own personal demons to save the girl before she is taken completely.” Ashmore is playing “the anguished father, desperately struggling to protect his daughter.”
Deadline doesn’t name the director of It Feeds or the screenwriter, but they do mention that this film is the first in what is planned to be a ten-film slate of genre projects that’s coming our way from Productivity Media Inc and Black Fawn Films.

X2: X-Men United Adapted The God Loves, Man Kills Marvel Comic Arc, But It's Missing One Key Element
"X2: X-Men United" was released 20 years ago, and it remains easily the best of the original "X-Men" trilogy and one of the first hints that superhero movies were a Hollywood heavyweight. Even so, "X2" isn't free of the sin that many adaptations commit. Namely, not honoring the source material's spirit.
The most influential "X-Men" writer is Chris Claremont. He wrote the series from 1975 to 1991, rescuing the comic from obscurity in the process. He also gave the setting the political backbone for which it's now known. Stan Lee retroactively claimed he based Professor X and Magneto on Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, but read his "X-Men" stories and you won't find credence for that or much of a bite at all. Lee was, in the words of "Marvel Comics: The Untold Story" author Sean Howe, "a master fence-sitter."
Claremont, though, had a firmer spine. Magneto being a Holocaust survivor?...

Officer John Nolan will remain on the case.
ABC has officially picked up a sixth season of The Rookie.
The exciting news dropped Monday.
The Rookie moved to Tuesdays earlier this year and instantly increased in the ratings.
Season to date, The Rookie Season 5 is averaging 3.9 million viewers and a 0.43 rating in Live + Same Day metrics.
With a week of delayed viewing factored in, those numbers rise to 6.5 million viewers and a 0.7 rating.
Simply put, the show is a strong performer for the network, so a renewal was never out of the question.
The series also stars Shawn Ashmore as Wesley Evers, Mekia Cox as Nyla Harper, Jenna Dewan as Bailey Nune, Alyssa Diaz as Angela Lope, Richard T. Jones as Wade Gre, Melissa O'Neil as Lucy Chen, Eric Winter as Tim Bradford, and Tru Valentino as Aaron Thorsen.

Maybe they should start calling it The Veteran.
ABC has renewed its police drama The Rookie, starring Nathan Fillion, for a sixth season in 2023-24. The series will cross the 100-episode milestone early next season. The pickup comes two weeks ahead of the show’s fifth season finale on May 2.
The Rookie is the third veteran series ABC has renewed for 2023-24, joining Abbott Elementary and Grey’s Anatomy.
The Rookie has long been a decent ratings draw for ABC but saw its numbers jump with a move to Tuesday nights in January (where it leads into its spinoff, The Rookie: Feds). The show’s same-day audience has grown by 31 percent compared to its fall average, when it aired on Sundays. The Tuesday episodes have improved the 8 p.m. Tuesday spot by 40 percent in total viewers and 17 percent in adults 18-49 over the same time frame last year. Multiplatform ratings have also risen over last season.
